Abstract

The development of modern skill design is continuously higher alongside with the development of science, technology, and human need. Long time ago, empu or male salesclerks made skill products which contained sacred values and other values. Now, they make skill products by considering more on their aspects of function, economic, and estetics. The shift of those values are caused by the development of science, the transition of human need, and the change of era demand. Global issue has created tension between tradition and modernity, global versus local, universal and individual, and preservation versus renewal. The condition of culture, which comes from the meet of two values of every single aspect, finally creates some tension between things which are considered spiritual and material by nature. Globalization has influenced the shift of art that is spiritual and symbolic by nature into art which is simply material by nature. The work of art is more oriented on the fulfillment of practical demand which is based on economical demand. The fast development of globalization process becomes a big problem for many skill designers, who are in one side have no willingness to relief beautiful and philosophical traditional art. Meanwhile, in another side, they realize that they can do nothing if they do not follow the global current in which the impact cannot be avoided. The development of tourism directly claims the skill designers to make some modern skill designs which have special context regarding the places where the designs are created and stereotype according to local culture of the places. Related to the development of tourism, there is a skill design that is especially dedicated to society; this skill design is known as art by destination. Additionally, a skill design for tourism society demand is called art of acculturation. Art which is created for the sake of tourism art demand is known as tourist art. The development of tourism has given a big chance toward the development of skill in Indonesia. It can be proven by a large number of skill design products which have spread locally and globally. Most of those skill products of various material and designs have come into export markets. It proves that skill and creativity of skill designers have been highly reliable and acceptable.

Abstract

AbstrakTulisan ini hendak mengedepankan kajian perihal fenomena dialektis antara seni dengan masyarakatnya, yang sampai saat ini kerap menyisakan persoalan secara sosiologis. Sebagai bagian dari entitas sosial yang menyejarah, seni sebagaimana halnya dengan kebudayaan apa pun lainnya, keberadaannya senantiasa berada dalam ruang medan dan sekaligus arena produksi kulturasi, yang secara dialektis membentuk serangkaian proses habituasi kesadarannya yang tak pernah mengenal henti. Di antara sekian pluralitas tegangan pemaknaan terhadap realitas seni di masyarakat tersebut, yakni ketika seni lebih dimaknai sebagai jagad dan momen keindahan yang kemudian menghadirkan konstruksi “realisme sosial” di satu sisi, dan lebih mengedepankan momen kebenaran yang mendorong hadirnya konstruksi “realisme sosialis” di sisi yang lainnya. Dua kutub interseksi pemaknaan seni dan masyarakatnya yang dikotomis ini, sejatinya bisa didamaikan di antaranya dengan perspektif Platonian dan juga Aristotelian, yang konstruksi gagasannya cenderung mengafirmasi kesetaraan antara diktum keindahan dan kebenaran.Kata kunci: dialektika, seni, masyarakat, momen keindahan, momen kebenaran WHEN ARTISTS ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT SOCIETY: THE DIALECTICAL TENSION BETWEEN MOMENT OF BEAUTY AND TRUTHAbstractThis paper would like to discuss the dialectical phenomenon between arts and society that until today leaves sociological problems. As a part of a historical social entity, arts similar to other elements of culture is always in the midle of a cultural production area, which dialectically forms a sets of never ending habitual processes of consciousness. One of the tensions of plurality related to the understanding of art reality in the society is the fact that art is interpreted as the universe and moment of beauty which then presents the construction of ‘social realis’ on one side and puts forward the moment of truth encouraging the the appearance of ‘socialist realism’ on the other one. Abstract

The development of Yogyakarta classical dances in this global era is influenced by the advance of technology, the spread of tourism industries and the change of aesthetic taste of urban society. This article discusses how art lovers and artists face the global challenges and survive in the era. Dance experts create innovative forms of dances that are easy to learn; Dance organizations establish educational programs for dance learning; Dance education produces individuals who grow into dancers, or teachers in both formal and informal education. Moreover, dance organizations also produce new generation who will maintain, preserve and develop the classical dances in the future. Abstract

Tujuan artikel ini untuk mewujudkan bentuk dasar kapal pinisi dalam menerapkan kegiatan melukis dengan menggunakan media tanah liat di dalam pendidikan formal. Penciptaan karya ini menggunakan metode pengembangan. Metode pengembangan penciptaan diperlukan langkah- langkah yang menunjang terciptanya sebuah karya/produk, yaitu: eksplorasi, eksperimentasi, dan pembentukan. Kegiatan eksplorasi dilakukan penjelajahan atau penyelidikan untuk mendapatkan konsep yang akan dijadikan dasar penciptaan. Adapun kegiatan eksperimentasi dimulai dengan pencarian bentuk, teknik. Sedangkan pembentukan yaitu proses perwujudan karya melalui pembuatan model, mendekorasi. Penciptaan karya seni lukis dengan media tanah liat ditemukan bahwa proses ini merupakan upaya dalam pengembangan media seni lukis serta bahan ajar  yang bisa diterapkan dalam lingkup pendidikan formal sebagai pedoman dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran seni budaya khususnya seni rupa yang berbasis kearifan lokal untuk penanaman karakter dan pengembangan kreativitas bagi peserta didik. Kata Kunci: Bentuk kapal pinisi, penciptaan seni lukis, media tanah liat THE SHAPE OF PINISI SHIP AS A CREATION IDEA OF ART PAINTING WITH CLAY Abstract The purpose of this article is to realize the basic shape of a Pinisi ship in applying painting activities using clay in formal education. The creation of this work uses a development method. The creation development method requires steps that support the creation of a work, namely: exploration, experiment, and formation. The exploration activities were carried out through exploration or investigation to get the concepts that will be used as the basis of creation. The experiment began with the search of forms, techniques. Meanwhile, the formation activities involving the embodiment of the work through modelling, decorating. From the creation of an art with clay in this study, it was found that it was a development of painting media and teaching materials that could be applied in formal educations as a guideline in the implementation of cultural arts learning, especially art based on local wisdom for the cultivation of character and development of learners’ creativity.Keywords: Pinisi ship shape, painting creation, clay media

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan : (1) untuk mengetahui makna filosofi dari Tari Persembahan, (2) untuk mengetahui relevansi makna filosofi Tari Persembahan terhadap karakter masyarakat Kota Pekanbaru Provinsi Riau. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah kualitatif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu observasi non partisipant, wawancara dan dokumentasi serta teknik analisis yang digunakan yaitu reduksi data, display data dan verifikasi data. Dari hasil penelitian yang didapat menjelaskan bahwa makna filosofi yang terkandung dalam Tari Persembahan berasal dari adab sopan santun yang dimiliki masyarakat Melayu yang termasuk dalam filosofi masyarakat Melayu yaitu Adat Bersendikan Syarak Syarak Bersendikan Kitabullah, yang didapati dalam gerak tari, kostum tari, properti tari dan juga proses latihan. Sedangkan gerak-gerak yang ada dalam Tari Persembahan berasal dari tradisi menjunjung duli dan kemudian dikembangkan menjadi ragam-ragam gerak baru. Relevansi antara makna filosofi Tari Persembahan dan karakter masyarakat Kota Pekanbaru Provinsi Riau adalah dalam hal filosofinya, yaitu makna dari Tari Persembahan merupakan adab sopan santu masyarakat Melayu yang juga terkandung dalam filosofi masyarakat Melayu yang mendiami Kota Pekanbaru Provinsi Riau. Makna filosofi tersebut kemudian direlevansikan dalam bentuk nilai karakter diantaranya nilai menghormati, nilai menghargai, nilai kerja keras, nilai kerjasama, nilai disiplin, nilai bersahabat, dan nilai cinta tanah air.Kata kunci: Tari Persembahan, makna filosofi, nilai karakter Abstract This research aims: (1) to know the philosophy meaning of Persembahan Dance, (2) to know the relevance of philosophy meaning of Persembahan Dance to society character of Pekanbaru city of Riau Province. The type of research used in this research is qualitative, data technique that used are non participant observation, interview and documentation. The data were analyzed by data reduction, data display and data verification. The results showed, the philosophical meaning contained in the Dance of Persembahan derived from courtesy of respect that belongs to the Malay society which is included in the philosophy of the Malay society, namely Adat Bersendikan Syarak Syarak Bersendikan Kitabullah, which is found in the movement of dance, dance costume, dance property and also Process exercise. While the movements that exist in the Persembahan Dance comes from the tradition of menjunjung duli and then developed into a variety of new motions. The relevance between the meaning of philosophy of Persembahan Dance and the society character of Pekanbaru city of Riau Province is in terms of its philosophy, that is the meaning of Persembahan Dance is courtesy of Malay community also embodied in the philosophy of Malay people who inhabit Pekanbaru city of Riau Province. The meaning of this philosophy is then renovated in the form of character value, the value of respect, the value of appreciating, the value of hard work, the value of teamwork, the value of discipline, the value of friendship and the value of patriotism.Keywords: Persembahan Dance, Philosophy meaning, character value

Abstract

Basically, several approaches from many different fields of study,such as history, philosophy, anthropology, psychology, economy and sociology,can be applied in any researches, including a research on karawitan. This writingexplains how sociological approach is applied to study karawitan. Principally,this approach analyze the relationship between society and karawitan art, itsliterary values and the social values, the artists' background and the problems ofart life in society. Abstract

Lagu Dolanan mempunyai makna, fungsi, filosofi dan tujuan di setiap liriknya. Media musik melalui lirik lagu dolanan dapat merangsang pertumbuhan emosi anak, Teknik stimulasi melalui lagu dolanan tersebut ternyata memiliki dampak positif bagi pembentukan karakter. Anak dapat terkontrol, baik secara emosi maupun kebiasaan tingkah laku sehari-hari. Lagu Dolanan “Gundul-Gundul Pacul” yang mempunyai makna bahwa saat kita mengemban jabatan ataupun menjadi manusia seutuhnya tidak diperbolehkan “gembelengan” yang berartikan sombong. Dalam bertingkah laku dan mengambil keputusan haruslah hati-hati dan jangan gegabah, jika semua tidak dipenuhi semua akan hancur berantakan tidak beraturan, bahkan kita tidak mendapatkan suatu makna apapun. Pemaknaan lagu dolanan dapat membantu anak dalam menggali nilai-nilai kehidupan, pendidikan, rasa hormat serta sopan santun kepada orang tua dan memegang teguh erat kebudayaan mereka sebagai identitas bangsa. Kata kunci: Dolanan, gundul, pacul, musik, karakter, anakAbstractLagu Dolanan have meaning, function, philosophy and purpose in each lyrics. Music media through Lagu Dolanan lyrics can stimulate children's emotional growth. Stimulation techniques through these songs have a positive impact on character formation. Children can be controlled, both emotionally and daily behavior habits. Lagu Dolanan "Gundul-Gundul Pacul" which means that when we assume a position or become a complete human being it is not permissible to "slap" who means arrogant. In behaving and making decisions must be careful and do not be careless, if all is not fulfilled all will fall apart irregularly, even we do not get any meaning. The meaning of Lagu Dolanan can help children to explore the values of life, education, respect and courtesy to parents and hold fast to their culture as a national identity.Keywords: Dolanan, bald, hoe, music, character, child

Abstract

Art is an expression of feeling and soul. It is the crystallization of anidea that derives from imaginative soul experience through observation, deepthinking on the phenomena of social environment. Then, through intellectualability and internal or external motivation raises an intuitive vibration thatstimulates inner emotion to be artistically expressed through the language ofvisual art work.For Balinese, rerajahan is one of literature works which has a valueand symbolic meaning of the all life aspects both on macro and micro cosmos.It is also depicting the energy that is a symbol of gods and evil character.These all are the reflection of dualistic. These concepts which are overlappingand interdependent to each other must be kept appropriately in order tomaintain the harmony.The concept of harmony that exists in rerajahan seems neglected oreven left behind when we compare with the phenomena life in society. Thiscan be seen on the inappropriate acts either to the nature or human life. As weknow, an exploitation of natural resources, the inappropriate authority acts ofparticular parties or people, gender, discrimination on law and human rights,and inappropriate acts of state administration.These phenomena generally make the increase of ecological crisis andthe degradation of human moral or get the level of social poverty even worse. Atpresent, these inappropriate acts are getting out of control because the spreadtakes place both on the low and elite levels. So, these are very complexphenomena just like a messy thread that needs to be solved holistically. Thecomprehension of all the above values have brought some ideas regarding on thelife meanings in which its philosophical concepts in an abstract way astatically areimplemented into the painting art work by combining both the representative andabstractive concepts. It is also implemented in term of applying varied line, color,and textures. It is hope that impasto technique can represent certain symbol andmeaning in order to give the value of the authenticity of the art work which has anartistic personal values and novelty.Key word : Painting art work, distortion of imaginary shape and harmony
