Abstract

Tafsir, as an Islamic hermeneutics, holds a significant position in understanding and applying the sacred text of the Qur'an. This study aims to investigate the theoretical and practical aspects of tafsir as an interpretive method within the Islamic tradition. Through an approach of textual and contextual analysis, this research explores various tafsir approaches used in Islamic history and their application in contemporary contexts. The role of tafsir as Islamic hermeneutics lies not only in understanding the meaning of the Qur'anic text but also in connecting it with social, cultural, and political realities. This research also explores the relevance and challenges faced in applying Islamic hermeneutics in contemporary contexts. Through this in-depth analysis, it is hoped to gain a better understanding of the role of tafsir in enriching religious understanding and guiding religious practices in contemporary Islamic society.

Abstract

One of the traditions in the Muslim community is reading or studying the Kitab Kuning (classical Islamic texts). There are quite a variety of Kitab Kuning that are read in pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) or study groups, one of which is the book Durrat al-Nāṣiḥīn. This text is a summary of the author’s dissertation at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) titled A Study of Hadith in the Book Durrat al-Nāṣiḥīn.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia, with the largest Muslim population in the world, for the first time in 2004 conducted direct presidential elections. This certainly will serve as a reference for other Muslim nations in selecting their leaders. Islam, as the religion embraced by the majority of the Indonesian people, has undergone a long historical journey in choosing the country’s leaders or president. As a reference point, one can examine the practices of leadership selection during the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs (Khulafa’ Al-Rasyidin), and subsequent Islamic governance. Moreover, although the Qur’an and Sunnah do not explicitly provide a pattern for selecting leaders, Islamic thinkers have offered concepts on how the Muslim community should choose its president. The results of this study indicate that generally there are three patterns of selecting a president in Islam: the appointment pattern, the consultation pattern involving representatives of the people, and the pattern of direct election by the people.

Abstract

This article shows that in the Shī‘ite (Shī‘a) madhhab (school) is different opinion concerning Ḥadīth/Sunna as ḥujja (allegation of law). One faction states that all aspects of the Prophet’s life are ḥujja, whilst another party claims that only some aspects of his life i.e. the aspect which connotes tashrī‘(law guidance) can be a ḥujja. In between these two sides, the most appropriate view point is the latter one, for it is more objective and proportional in looking at him as an ordinary human being, in one dimension, and as an apostle, in another one. The controversy then has enlarged into the ḥujja of ḥadīth/khabar al-āḥād. For some people, khabar al-āḥād is absolutely refused; another some admits it absolutely; while some receives it under certain prerequisites; and even a number of scholars accept it with the very tight and stiff requisites. In this context, again, the least group’s idea is more objective, logic and contextual. This conclusion is resulted from uṣūl al-fiqh approach and philosophical analysis.DOI: 10.15408/ref.v13i3.907

Abstract

The modern era which is now stepping on the industrial revolution 4.0 era has caused the human condition to change rapidly, they are “tempted” by technological sophistication so that they slowly forget and leave religion (God) which ultimately leads to social and spiritual problems in the midst of society in addition to moral problems that cannot be solved with any technological sophistication. The focus of this research is to analyze and find a solution to solve this problem through the concept of humanistic Sufism which was initiated by Said Aqil Siradj and Muh Amin Syukur. The findings produced are that humanistic Sufism Said Aqil and Amin Syukur are Sufism that teaches humans to be active in social life, pro-active to social problems, politics, economics, nationality, please help, tolerance, as well as to draw closer to God continuously. Humanistic Sufism also teaches to synergize between the world-hereafter, the soul-body, inner-soul, God-creature, social-individual, Sharia-nature. It is this moderate attitude which seeks to develop humanistic Sufism which later leads to the formation of social piety and spiritual piety that very relevant to the life of post modern people who are currently experiencing a social and spiritual crisis.

Abstract

The justification of religion in a conflict, especially conflicts arising among followers of different religions, often surfaces easily. They frequently invoke religion by raising sacred symbols, masses, or groups to attempt to eliminate other groups. These conflicts often end in bloodshed. In such conditions, an interesting concept in Islamic teachings can be applied to overcome it, namely Ukhuwah Islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood). This brotherhood has been exemplified by the Prophet and his companions. They truly understood its meaning and embodied it in their lives, thus creating peace, harmony, and coexistence among them, both within the religion and among people of different faiths.

Abstract

This article is based on the fact that the Qur’an mentions the meaning of blind in the word a’mā and its derivatives. From the word (lafadz) it has a meaning or a concept and has a broader meaning. What is meant by blind in this research is not just something that cannot be seen in plain view. This means that there is the possibility of other meanings so that it becomes an element of understanding of a particular purpose. So, the main problem that is discussed in this paper is: how is the concept of blind in the perspective of the Qur'an? The results of this study indicate that the Qur’an constructs a system of meaning from the word a’mā (أعمى) and its derivation is born with broader meanings. Blind in al-Qur'an has a lot of attention to people who are considered to be psychologically blind (inward) and as a form of appreciation of the Qur’an, a small portion are mentioned physically blind (outward).
