Abstract

Dehydration process using solid desiccant is required to reduce water content to meet pipeline gas GPSA specification (4-7 lb/MMscf). Porous silica gel has a high specific surface area (Grade 12 brand Davisil 800 m2/g), which is generally obtained via a high-cost supercritical technology. This research aims to substitute that of high-cost super critical technology by developing silica-coated mesoporous carbon. This research uses an impregnating-silica method consisting of pretreatment and hydrophilication processes. Here we found that the pretreatment process can increase the surface area of mesoporous carbon from 504.122 m²/g to 823.5 m²/g. While for the hydrophylication process, silica-coated mesoporous carbon was obtained via mechanical and chemical force. Silica-coated mesoporous carbon has adsorption capacity 70.59% of commercial silica gel.

Abstract

Software Cost Estimation is an important activity in software development projects. Various measurement methods are widely applied to estimate software cost, and one of them is Function Point Method. Function Point (FPA) method measures the software by measuring software functionality that provided to users based on design logic. The measurement consist of several steps: calculate Unadjusted Function Point (UFP), Value Adjustment Factor (VAF), Adjusted Function Point (AFP) and estimate the software cost. Software project that became the object of this research were four licensing projects from local government with total cost 229.680.000. The estimated total cost of four projects using Function Point method is 216.956.881 rupiahs. The percentage gap between the actual with the function point that is equal to 5.54%. It can be concluded that FPA is an accurate method and this cost estimation can be used by developers in determining the cost of software to be built

Abstract

The Indonesian archipelago is bordered by many countries, such as Sulawesi island bordered by the Philippines. The culture of Sulawesi allegedly had the same style with the culture of the Filipinos. Several studies have examined the details of Indonesian culture, especially the culture of Sulawesi and the Philippines, but has not studied the details of the cultural dimension measurement of both countries. This study aims to measure the dimensions of Hofstede cultural communities in the Indonesian archipelago and do a comparative study of cultural dimensions of Hofstede to Sulawesi and the Philippines. The data (631 respondents) was analysed using calculations score of Hofstede cultural dimensions consists of the Power Distance Index (PDI), Individualism (IDV), Masculinity (MAS), Long-term orientation (LTO) and Uncertainty Avoidance (UAI). The measurement results of Hofstede cultural dimensions Indonesia is slightly different from the predecessor research. There are several dimensions of Hofstede Indonesian culture which decreased compared to the results of research on the IBM Company, which consists of PDI, UAI, and LTO as well as an increase at IDV and MAS. The geographical position of the region of Sulawesi and the Philippines affect both cultural interactions. Several cultural dimension scores of Sulawesi and the Philippines were relatively close. It shows that Sulawesi and the Philippines have similar cultural dimensions PDI, IDV and MAS. This cultural dimension measurement results expected to contribute to the fields of science related to the cultural mapping of Indonesia and the Philippines.

Abstract

Application of composite materials as a alternative materials is developed, The most of composite material is polymer matrix composite (PMC), with the polymer as a matrix and the sintetic fiber such as fiberglass and fiber carbon as a reinforced, it can make a materials with intermediete mechanical properties such as strength, hardness and thoughness, between matrix and fiber. Since the synthetic fiber was dangerous for human, so recenly developing natural fiber composite with advantages of natural fiber is more environmentally friendly, and more cheap than synthetic fiber. Otherwise, natural fiber has stong enough when it use at interior automotive parts, such as dashboard. Some cars already use the natural fiber for the interior parts. The natural fiber has a big potential, especially pineapple in Indonesia, the pineapple production at East Kalimantan is 25 344 tonnes in 2014. It means a lot of leaves can be used for the natural fiber. Pineapple leaf fiber (Pineapple Leaf Fiber / PALF) has a pretty good tensile strength of 126 MPa, and Young modulus of 4405 MPa and has a cellulose content About a 70-80% cellulose, cellulose which has a crystalline structure, so it can be good reinforced for composite. The result of this experiment, the optimum value of tensile strength is 29.9648 MPa, at composite PALF – Alcalinitation 40%.

Abstract

The movement of aircraft and passengers at Juanda international airport is increasing every year. In 2012, the air side infrastructure of Juanda airport almost reached the maximum capacity. In other side, PT. Angkasa Pura I as the operator of Juanda airport had planned to revitalize the Juanda airport terminal that located on the south side. This terminal was not operated for 8 years. The pavement of taxiway should be evaluated its strength. The evaluation method compared The Pavement Classification Number (PCN) of taxiway pavement with Aircraft Classification Number (ACN). If PCN value was higher than ACN value, so the taxiway pavement could serve aircraft movements. The pavement of taxiway on Juanda airport evaluated by using software COMFAA. Data input into the software COMFAA was the existing pavement structure and the movement of the aircraft that will to use south side of Juanda Airport Terminal. The scenario 1 result is the exiting pavement should be overlaid 7 inches to support The operational of Terminal 2 Juanda Airport. In other side, scenario 2 result showed that the existing taxiway pavement structure was able to hold the load of aircraft movements over 20 years. The PCN value is 80.2 dan the ACN values are 89.3 in the scenario 1 and 75 in the scenario 2.

Abstract

Sustainable development is a concept in green building, which involves ecological, social and economic objectives. It requires to sustain the integrity of resources exploitation, the orientation of technological development and the direction of investments. Concrete is most used construction material worldwide. However, the concrete also brings a great environmental cost. The billions of tons of natural materials mined and processed every year and huge enormous amounts of energy required to produce the cement as well as 7-8% of CO2 released into the atmosphere in the cement processing. This paper discusses the various efforts to improve the concrete environmental friendliness or as a green building material. The most potential successful effort in this matter is utilize local substitutes for cement, especially those that are byproducts of industrial processes, like fly ash, ground granulated blast furnace slag and silica fume

Abstract

Indonesia is known as a country that have the largest peatland in Southeast Asia. Peatland is often used in agricultural, plantation and settlement purposes. Before, peatland must be drained as one procedure of land clearing activity. However, an error during this process often comes and cause some problems such as drought, subsidence and even forest fire. A characteristic of peatland, irrewetable, making peatland is very hard to be wet after getting dry. This research is aiming to observe peatland subsidence in Pelalawan Regency, Riau using SAR data Sentinel 1-A. The method that we use is Differential Interferometry Synthetic Aperture Radar (DInSAR). Beside Sentinel 1-A, DEM STRTM is used to remove topographic effect. Temporal baseline in this research is about one year between two acquisition data. The first pair of data is acquired in June 2015 and June 2016. While the second pair of data is acquired in June 2016 and July 2017. By using two pass DInSAR method, the process will yield two images of Line of Sight (LOS) Displacement during each period. The first DInSAR (June 2015-June 2016) reveals that the highest subsidence that occur in peatland is about 109,113 mm and the highest uplift is about 108,089 mm. The second DInSAR (June 2016-July 2017) reveals that the highest peat subsidence is about 251,842 mm and the highest uplift is about 73,715 mm.
