Abstract

Abstract

Braille letter is characters designed for the blind, consist of six embossed points, arranged in a standard braille character. Braille letters is touched and read using fingers, therefore the sensitivity of the fingers is important. Those characters need to be memorized, so it is very difficult to be learned. The aim of this research is to create a braille characters recognition system and translate it to alpha-numeric text. Webcam camera is used to capture braille image from braille characters on the paper sheet. Cropping, grayscale, thresholding, erotion, and dilation techniques are used for image preprocessing. Then, artificial neural network method are used to recognize the braille characters. The system can recognize braille characters with 99% accuracy even when the braille image is tilted up to 1 degrees.

Abstract

Palembang, having been one of the oldest city in Indonesia has inherited buildings that define an era. One of those remains are the traces of the colonial buildings in Palembang. The buildings that were built in those era are very predominant to it’s surrounding. The old Palembang area is divided with the 16 ilir in Palembang is an economic sector and the merdeka corridor is the government sector and also the Talang Semut area as a housing and settlement sector. This paper is about the traces of colonial building in the old colonial building in Palembang, represented with the Talang Semut area that have transformed into commercial places. The methods used in this study are using a visual research study to pinpoint the existing nature of the building and the transformation of the buildings as a result of changes in buildings function from settlements into micro commercial areas and also using space syntax analysis as a quantitative method to see how the streets have effected the transformation of the buildings. The transformation of Dutch and colonial places are found many in the colonial settlements in the city of Indonesia and have shaped the vibrant colors of cities in Indonesia. The Talang Semut area acts as one of the areas that transformed from settlements into micro economic, such as stores and culinary spots. The transformation of function have very much affected the visual expression of its original facade and therefore affected the character of the colonial housing settlements of Talang Semut in Palembang.

Abstract

The resistivity method is one of the geophysical methods used to identify the aquifer layer by utilizing the rock response to the flow of electric current. This method considered more effective and can give a good subsurface cross-section, especially the fluid response. In this research, 3D modelling for identify geometry of subsurface geological structures of this study focus in three area (Plintahan, Duren Sewu, and Karangjati) using 2D resistivity data. Data Measurement of 2D resistivity using Wenner-Schlumberger configuration with length of each line is 155 meters and the target depth is 30 meters. The purpose of this configuration is to get an inverse with a resolution that is good to the lateral and vertical. The results show that the types of rocks in the research area was clay, sand and sandy shale with resistivity value 50-150 ohm-meter where sand rocks interpreted as aquifer rocks at depths of 2-7 meters and a thickness of 2-5 meters. The result of the resulting 3D modelling showed that the aquifer layer in Plintahan area showed the geological continuity with anticline geometry, in another area the aquifer layer in Durensewu - Karang Jati area showed the aquifer geometry prediction but there is no continuity of the structure of each other.

Abstract

One of the main problems using a transformer is the vibration and noise. This phenomenon occurs due to deformation/ magnetostriction of lamination sheets transformer core. In this research, the analysis of difference the hysteresis curve, noise and magnetostriction between the rolling direction & the transverse direction have been done. Magnetostriction was measured by gauge of deformation. Acoustic noise was measured by microphone. Magnetic saturation of the rolling direction was higher than in the transverse direction. In contrast, the magnetostriction & acoustic noise of transverse direction was higher than the rolling direction. Harmonic frequency noise measurement had similarities with harmonic frequency magnetostriction: 100, 200, 300, 400 Hz. With increasing current/voltage, the amplitude of the harmonic frequencies noise and magnetostriction will increase.

Abstract

Myittha Multipurpose Dam Project is constructed on Myittha River to be implemented for hydropower production of installed power 40 MW and average annual energy 170 million kWh for regional development and irrigation network of 12,000 acres. Myittha dam has two portions of embankment: main dam (rockfill zone type) and long saddle dam (homogeneous type). The purpose of this paper is the evaluation of seepage and slope stability conditions of Myittha embankments (Myanmar) based on three different cases of operations: end of construction before filling the reservoir, steady state seepage and rapid drawdown of the reservoir. Seepage and slope stability analysis were done in two ways: analytical and computer approaches. Analytically, seepage analysis was done by using Laplace equation based on Darcy's law and slope stability analysis was done by using Ordinary Method of Slices and Bishop Simplified Method. This analytical approach was used to access based on the earthen dam details and geotechnical design parameters of embankment materials. On this research, SLOPE/W and SEEP/W soft-wares were used as computer approach. The analysis results presented in this research confirm the safety of Myittha dam against combined seepage and slope stability under all cases of operation.

Abstract

The construction project is a dynamic and risky field. Risks can have an effect on productivity, quality and cost limits of the project. Risk management is crucial for any construction project to avoid loss of cost, quality and time. This research was conducted at PT. XYZ. Risk identification is done through field survey and stakeholder interviews. There are 73 identified risks that are classified into 7 types of risks. Questionnaires were distributed to experts for probability and impact data. Calculation of probability average value and the risk impact are being done by concentrated numeric statistic matrix (CNSM) method. The final step in CNSM is the data consistency test using G reliability test. While the division of risk category uses entropy method. The benefits of combining these two methods are the assessment and classification of risk can be more accurate. CNSM will calculate the highest risk from all of the 73 identified risks. While entropy method will find the highest risk from the 7 risks type. From the result of the 2 methods, we can crosscheck to find the highest identified risk in the highest risk group type. The result shows that the risk of weather variability is the highest one.
