Abstract

Waste is one of the problems that still unsolved especially for plastic waste. If the handling of plastic waste cannot be done well, it will have effect for the long period. The effect of plastic waste is environment problems such as: chain food disturb, contaminate ground water, air pollution, extinction anima, poisonous soil, and act. One of the handling for plastic waste is recycling. It starts with separating plastic waste by kind of plastic. The next step is crush it until it becomes small flakes. The Small flakes can be directly used for making product such as pot, filler material for mixing with road asphalt or plastic granulate for making a product by injection mold or extraction. In order to handle plastic waste into small flakes, plastic shredder can be used to realize the making of prototype of plastic shredder machine. It starts with design process. The design process of the prototype of plastic shredder machine uses the method of design Pahl and Beitz method that consists of design and describes job, design product concept, embodiment design, and design of detail. The plastic shredder machine consists of blades or cutter, transmission element with the shape of spur gear, electric motor, and body of machine. The kind of waste plastic for shred is LDPE, HDPE, PP, PSBased for the design of plastic shredder machine can produce small flake with the dimension of about 10 mm long and 1 mm wide.

Abstract

Abstract ¾ Mount Penanggungan is one of the volcanoes that located in East Java Province, Indonesia, with the current status is a sleeping volcano. Although Mount Penanggungan is not active, it still make an interesting investigation in geological survey, especially to identify the lithological units, due that less researchers took place in Mount Penanggungan. Geological survey and investigaton can describes the information about physically condition of some land or region, with the result is Lithological Map of Mount Penanggungan. Remote sensing imagery, such as Landsat 8 Satellite imagery data series has been used widely in geology for mapping lithology in general. Remote sensing provides information of the properties of the surface exploration targets that is potential in mapping lithological units. Remote sensing technique are one of the standard procedures in exploration geology, due to it is high efficiency and low cost. Lithological mapping in Mount Penanggungan area is carried out by using Landsat 8 Satellite imagery data with image enhancement techniques, including RGB (red, green, blue) band composite, and combine it with Indonesian Surface Map data that will makes an existing Lithological Map of Mount Penanggungan. The results of this study showed the distribution of the lithological units in Mount Penanggungan, which the units are; vulcanic breccia, tuff breccia, and andesitic lava.

Abstract

Nonlinear response history analysis (NL-RHA) is a powerful tool for seismic analysis of structures. The seismic performance of structures can be estimated accurately due to a set of ground motions. However, NL-RHA is an onerous task to estimate seismic demands due to its complexity for practical design applications. Therefore, nonlinear static procedures (NSPs), which are rooted in structural dynamic theory, are developed as an alternative to rigorous NL-RHA. NSPs are now widely used in engineering practice to evaluate seismic responses of structure in the inelastic range. The main objective of this study is to assess the bias and accuracy of the adaptive modal combination (AMC) procedure, which is modified from the modal pushover analysis (MPA) procedure, for seismic evaluation of buildings.   Three-, 9-, 18-storey buildings were analyzed due to two sets of strong ground motions having 2% and 10% probability of being exceeded in 50 years. The influence of soil-structure interaction in the analysis was also considered by using Beam-on-Nonlinear-Winkler-Foundation modeling. The assessment is based on comparing seismic displacement demands such as target roof displacements, peak floor displacements and inter-storey drifts. The AMC estimates are compared to results from nonlinear response history analysis (NL-RHA) and results from AMC procedure considered only first mode (AMC- 1st mode). The obtained results show that the AMC procedure provides reasonably accurate results in estimating seismic demands of studied buildings.

Abstract

The development of an urban area must be supported by the construction of infrastructure such as public facilities. The crowded of urban area in Indonesia increasingly requires the existence of a mass transportation mode that is capable of carrying passengers in large amounts and relatively quickly. Recently Jakarta has proposed the construction of the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) with underground lines utilize tunnel technology. Tunnel system was chosen as an alternative solution socioeconomic problems in the land problem and conditions of the existing urban planning. The geographical position of Indonesia is located in the equatorial zone which is the weather conditions have high levels of weathering and moisture or high humidity, this condition may result in changes in the level of strength of rock of the tunnel system in a relatively fast. In the construction of public facilities with the tunnel system need monitoring system the condition of the tunnel to avoid the dangers that may occur due to the failure of a tunnel system. To determine the level of moisture and water content in the rock or overburden a tunnel can be determined by utilizing the resistivity method. Resistivity method is a geophysical method that measures the magnitude of the resistivity of a material. Changes in moisture content and humidity levels of rock or soil in an area can be indicated by a change in the value of resistivity of rock or soil. In the measuring of the resistivity method needed good design to provide accurate information, especially if it will be used as a monitoring system for a tunnel. Development of measuring the resistivity method, and in particular data processing is done with the aim of optimizing the measurement process and the measurement results can be interpreted easily and be able to demonstrate a phenomenon that occurs in rocks or soil cover tunnel.

Abstract

Assessment of pavement condition is functionally the most important aspect in determining road maintenance and repair activities, so that the financing can be monitored properly. There are two methods in handling the road assessment, ie visually and using tools. Visual assessment can use PASER and PCI. While IRI is a road assessment using Roadroid (Android Smartphone App) tool, where the tool will be used as national reference to get IRI value, because the cost is cheaper and effective. Therefore there needs to be a correlation between the three methods. Correlation in this research is divided into three, namely the correlation of PASER value with PCI, PASER with IRI, and PCI with IRI. The research location used as research object is South Ring Road Sragen. The result of the research was obtained, road assessment using PASER method with PCI resulted correlation value of pearson 0,51. Assessment of PASER with IRI has a correlation value of pearson -0,14. While the value of PCI with IRI yield correlation value pearson -0,23. The value of the correlation coefficient between PASER and PCI has the highest value, since it has a nearly equal assessment approach by measuring the damage visually. The correlation of PCI with IRI is higher than PASER with IRI, thus proving that PCI assessment is more recommended because it can accommodate all types of road damage.
