Abstract

Every metal always going back to its oxide form. Steel which are oxidized having lower quality than steel which are not. Oxidizing steel will going faster if it is placed in corrosive environment. Sea water is one of the environment that support the oxidizing process. Coats are using to protect the steel in sea water. But sometimes there is some failure in coating process so the coat will have scratch damage area. The objective of this experiment is to know how much current needed to protect AISI 1045 steel which have been coated with polyethylene and given scratch area with shape variations, in sea water environment. This experiments is the continuation from the past experiences which is using sacrifice anode, on the other hand, this experiences using Impressed Current Cathodic Protection. Data which are taken from this experiment is the differentiation of potential that measured with electrode reference Cu/CuSO4, and the current measured by avometer. With ICCP system, we know that the corrosion rate in rectangular-shape scratch is faster than circle-shape scratch, and the larger the area of scratch, the larger current needed to protect the coated steel.

Abstract

The concept of Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) is to integrate supply chain management with consumers, which includes the process of resource extraction, product design and development, distribution, waste disposal and recycle processes based on the thought of saving the environment. The problem found in this study is that suppliers pay little attention to environmental aspects as well as safety, delivery delays and quality. Government regulations related to the industry regarding the environment and the increasing number of people who switch to green products compel industry players to start incorporating environmental aspects into each of their production processes. This study uses the green supply chain management (GSCM) concept that integrates environmental aspects into business processes in the industry and discusses standardization of supplier selection. Selection of suppliers is an important problem that must be consider by the company in order to get suppliers who can support and improve the competitiveness of the company. The sample in this study was top management who worked at PT XYZ. Data collection techniques is using a questionnaire. The analysis of the green supplier selection was carry out using the Analytical Network Process (ANP) method because ANP is one method that is able to represent the importance of various parties by considering the interrelationships between the criteria and the existing sub-criteria. Criteria for selecting suppliers are financial, environmental, quality, technical (service). An ANP linkage model is base on the identification of criteria and sub-criteria and the interrelationships between the two. All of the criteria and sub-criteria are compare with each other. The comparison scores are process and obtained scores for each alternative supplier. The results is obtained data quality criteria have a score of 0.319, environmental criteria have a score of 0.254, technical criteria (service) has a score of 0.216 financial criteria has a score of 0.211. The supplier's recommendation is PT C because it has the highest score of 0.363

Abstract

UiO-66 solids have been synthesized using solvothermal method in which reaction mixtures of zirconium tetrachloride (ZrCl4) and 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid (BDC) in N-N'-dimethylformamide (DMF) were heated at 140 °C for 6, 12, 24, 36, 48, 72 and 144 hours, respectively. The weight of reaction products, in the form white powder, increased with the increase in heating time up to 72 hours, then decreased. Characterization results using XRD showed that the diffractogram of the solid obtained at heating time of 6 h had the same pattern to that of reported UiO-66, characterized by a main peak with a high intensity at 2θ of 7.3°, as well as other characteristic peaks with lower intensity at 2θ of 8.4°; 25.6° and 30.6°. The longer the heating time (12 and 24 h), the lower the intensity of the main peak. When the reaction mixtures were heated for 36 h or longer, the obtained solid diffractograms showed that the main peak intensity at 2θ of 7.3° was lower than the second peak, and new peaks appeared at 2θ of 13.8°; 15.8° and 17.5°. SEM micrographs showed that the solid synthesized for 6 h was in the form of clusters of square morphology, whereas solids synthesized for 72 h showed needle-like surface morphology

Abstract

The development of CT scanning technology as a digital image recorder has provided facilities for oncologists in analyzing the presence of cancer in patient's organs. Visually, oncologists analyze it by looking at the CT slices to ascertain whether any cancer nodules in the lung are present. The center line of nodules is used to calculate the volume of nodules for all slices. Volume is used to monitor the rate of cancer growth. Another way is the shape of cancer nodules. However, since the CT scan images are in the form of two-dimensional (2D), it is hard for oncologists to see the full three-dimensional (3D) shape of the cancer nodules. Based on that matter, this study aimed to develop algorithm that can automatically detect and calculate volume of nodules for all slices in 3D reconstruction. 3D reconstruction of cancer nodules is performed through linear interpolation approach. The results of the developed algorithm, tested through a number of slice images from lung CT scan, showed that the approach and algorithm are able to reconstruct nodule shape in 3D and calculate volume automatically. The results obtained are expected to be able to help oncologists provide accurate information of cancer nodules as well as volume and shape of the cancer nodules in 3D surface.

Abstract

In the application of a reciprocating compressor failures are often caused by valve malfunction. The failure can be minimized by a proper valve design. This research described an experimental study to investigate characteristics of vibration and cylinder chamber pressure diagrams, as results of open-close valve processes in a single-stage, single-acting air reciprocating compressor. Vibration and pressure were measured at the same crank angle. The modification was materialized by a change in a valve seat profile of a discharge side. The study was conducted for several working loads. Compared to the discharge valve which was (commonly) supplied by the manufacturer, the result showed that a provision of a taper angle on a discharge valve seat would decrease vibration level, made longer discharge opening, and would increase discharge pressure.

Abstract

Globalization and vast changing of business nature nowadays makes interdependence between organizations who shares the same supply network is becoming stronger.  Any risk that occurs in one point of a supply chain could affect to the whole network.  As a result, risk in supply chain is getting more complex and unpredictable. Since any kind of risk could potentially impede or even stop business activities of the whole supply chain therefore managing supply chain risk is essential. Moreover, to handle supply chain risk properly, the interrelationships between these risks should be identified. However, there is only few study which cover interrelationships between supply chain risks. This research is aiming to provide a proposed model of a supply chain interrelation risks based on case study in an petrochemical industry.   Interpretive Approach Structural Modeling is utilized to develop the relationships between risks while weight determination for risk relationship is conducted using Analytical Network Process.  The case study of this research identifies that there are 14 supply chain risks which are grouped as driver, dependent, autonomous and linkage. The weight of risk interrelations are then considered when quantify each risk.  Calculation of risk priority number is not only taking into account its own probability and consequence but also the probability and weight of affected risk.
