Abstract

Coral reefs are one of the major ecosystems in the coastal region with high biodiversity and resource level. As productive ecosystems with high economic and ecological potential, the existence of coral reef ecosystems must be sustainably managed. One of the areas with high diversity of coral reefs is Giligenting Island located in Sumenep regency. This research was conducted by taking primary data in the form of tidal data, bathymetry data and Side Scan Sonar recordings. From the primary data and then processed until produces 3 dimensional model of seabed features that are then interpreted and analyzed to obtain information about healthy or damaged coral reefs, using underwater geo-tagged photos to validate. The 3-dimensional model has a maximum depth of 7.667 meters and 1.403 meters at minimum depth with an area of 100,536.097 m2. From the interpretation of Side Scan Sonar acoustic images it is found the area of sand feature is 30.79%; the area of mud feature equal to 29.94%; the healthy coral covering 35.75% of the survey area, consisting 10.09% of coral reef barrier reef feature, and 25.66% of small coral reef feature; and 3.52% of damaged coral reef feature from total 43,527.110 m2 Side Scan Sonar survey area.

Abstract

Safety is a strategy to reduce the risk of major process accidents. The principle of a safety is to reduce the risk of fails and can be applied easily as the inherent safety. the research which assesses the safety and appeared have a lot of new methods. This study tried to summarize some of the existing methods. The study focused on the case of making methyl methacrylate (MMA) with acetone cyanohydrin (ACH). The processing manufacturing production is divided into four stages or routes. Which are production of hydrogen cyanide (HCN), acetone cyanohydrin (ACH), HMPSA/HMPSE and methyl methacrylate (MMA). Safety assessment is a stages with standardization. Standardization aims to ease look at the risk level of a route. Assessment standardization it produces characteristic safety assessment of the risk level. The level of these characteristics assess any level of danger when the process conditions of a factory. Each production process of the plant there are several production steps. The steps in the production process including preparation, reaction, separation and purification. Of these processes often occur a failure. Then table the characteristics of this suggested to simplify petrified assess how the level of security in the process. In research took a case of making MMA with ACH. The process of making this MMA has four step process HCN, ACH, HMPSA / HMPSE and MMA. The four steps greatest potential failure or hazard is found in the first step with the characteristic 'Moderate', the according to the characteristics of the proposed table.

Abstract

Lack of horizontal land causes the development of vertical buildings. Residences in major cities are dominated by apartments from the low rise to the high rise types. Based on the information cited from Vivanews May 2, 2010, the number of apartments in Surabaya approximately 12 new apartment projects and has been built with a total of 5,000 units with an average of nearly 80% is sold in every apartment. Current sheath material that is widely used for apartment’s envelope is precast concrete. Precast concrete is the material that had been made at the factory in accordance with the form of the mold, then the molded concrete will be transported and installed to the building construction site. Precast concrete is chosen because it has several advantages when compared to conventional concrete structural system, including the efficiency of processing time, energy efficiency, and environmentally friendly. Given these statements, the researcher needs to know the thermal performance of apartment buildings (high-rise) in Surabaya with precast concrete building envelope. Expected to know the configuration of precast concrete materials in the building envelope, the researcher can construct an apartment building design proposals that meet the criteria of thermal comfort in tropical regions. This study aims to identify and explain the thermal performance of the precast concrete configuration in apartment buildings (high-rise) in Surabaya for the buiding envelope. The method that is used for this research is an experimental method to study the object with modeling strategies by Archipak for the simulation. The results shows that thermal performance of precast concrete pretty well applied to the apartment with thermal properties that support the value of the thermal performance of precast.
