Abstract

A diabetic foot ulcer is one of the diabetes mellitus complications. The farmer is a job that has a risk for developing diabetic ulcers, especially farmers with diabetes. Farmers pay less attention to protecting their feet, so they risk foot trauma. This study aimed to describe the risk of diabetic foot ulcers in farmers. This was a descriptive observational study conducted at the Palengaan Pamekasan Health Center working area. As many as 76 respondents were chosen using the purposive sampling technique. All respondents were examined using inlow's 60-second diabetic foot instrument. The data were analyzed with univariate analysis. This study found that 72.4% of farmers had a moderate risk of developing diabetic ulcers, and 11,8% of patients were at risk for severe foot ulcers. This data showed that most farmers are at high risk of developing diabetic foot ulcers. Therefore, farmers with diabetes need intensive attention from medical practitioners to provide education on the importance of foot protection while working.

Abstract

Hypertension is a condition while blood pressure is increasing. The normal value of blood pressure is <120/80 mmHg. One of the drugs used to reduce blood pressure is captopril. Captopril has a short half-time, so it requires repeated administration that allows fluctuations. To solve this shortcoming, an approach was carried out using a controlled delivery system, hollow microspheres. The purpose of this research is to optimize and determine the amount of Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) and Ethyl Cellulose (EC) polymers that can produce the optimum formula. Optimization is done using the factorial design method. The response that will be observed in this research is the value of entrapment efficiency, buoyancy, and particle size. The optimum formula was obtained in the combination of HPMC and EC amounts in captopril hollow microspheres are 75 mg HPMC and 200 mg EC.

Abstract

Basil has antibacterial activity against Salmonella typhi with essential oils as active compounds. However, its volatile and hydrophobic nature makes it difficult to dissolve in the gastrointestinal tract so a self nanoemulsifying drug delivery system (SNEDDS) is needed. The study aimed to determine the effect of changes in the concentration and interaction of Tween 80 and PEG 400 on the percent transmittance response and emulsification time in SNEDDS of basil leaf oil. This research optimized of Tween 80 and PEG 400 using basil leaf oil as the oil phase with the percent transmittance response and emulsification time, then verified, characterized the organoleptic, pH, particle size, size distribution, and antibacterial activity. The concentration of Tween 80 and of PEG 400 would increase the percent transmittance and decrease the emulsification time. The interaction between two substances can decrease the percent transmittance and increase the emulsification time. The prediction software design expert 11 SNEDDS optimum formula namely Tween 80 2.05 ml and PEG 400 1.35 ml. The characteristics of the optimum formula produced were clear yellow with a distinctive basil aroma, pH 6.93±0.02, particle size 183.3±0.21 nm, and PI 0.341±0.02. SNEDDS of basil leaf oil inhibits S. typhi with an inhibition zone of 19.22 ± 0.01 mm.

Abstract

Many working women feel stressed due to their dual roles. Controlling stress requires action to deal with it, namely by focusing on the problem (problem-focused coping) and centering on emotions (emotion-focused coping). This study aimed to determine the description of coping stress in female workers. The population was 800 female workers. The simple random sampling was used with computerized and obtained a sample of 267 workers. The Ways of Coping questionnaire was tested for validity with an alpha value of ≥ 0.70 and reliability using an Alpha Cronbach's value of 0.725 and resulted in 36 valid items. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis. The research ethics test was carried out at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Jember. The results showed that the majority of female workers were aged 26-35 years (40.1%) and married (78.3%) and preferred coping strategies that focused on emotions by 57.7% with the aspect of accepting responsibility (17.2%), compared to coping strategies that focus on problems which is 42.3%. This is because women are more often oriented towards anger. So, when women feel stressed, it is easier to be sad, sensitive, angry, crying, and do anything to release their anger. Promotive activities such as counseling and preventive activities such as counseling could be done to deal with stress.

Abstract

Farmer is the occupation of the majority of Indonesians, and they rank first as a contributor to hyperglycemia (32.4%) and third to diabetes (12.6%) in Indonesia. Diabetic disease is affected by several factors, including abdominal obesity. So, the Indonesian government established a program called Posbindu PTM to screen for non-communicable diseases in Indonesians. This research aimed to analyze the correlation between abdominal circumference and blood sugar levels of farmers in Sukorejo Public Health Center. The cohort retrospective study design was used to analyze data of KMS Posbindu PTM in 2020 using Chi Square analysis with a significance of p<0.05. Data on age, gender, and abdominal circumference for 3 consecutive months (January)-March were collected, and blood sugar levels were measured in the third month (March) from 35 selected samples. The result showed no relationship between abdominal circumference and blood sugar levels (p=0.380), but there is a significant difference between gender and abdominal circumference among farmers (p= 0.019). An insignificant relationship between abdominal circumference and blood sugar levels indicated that abdominal obesity is not the main factor of diabetes, and other factors can influence it. Therefore, the abdominal circumference should be monitored regarding gender to prevent increased blood sugar among farmers.
