Abstract

In 2012, the upland area in Karanganyar Districtreached 45.11% of agricultural land. The farmer problems are technical (erosion, soil fertility, water availability) and economic (fluctuation of production, pricing and income). They take off farm acivity in order to increase household income.The main objective of the study is to determine (1) farming cost andincome, (2) the diversity and contribution of off farm activity, (3) household income (4) consumption and investment of upland farm household.Based on altitude and proportion of upland area, the study was carried out in Jatiyoso. Respondent of 60 farmers was drawn randomly from Wonorejo village. The methods is descriptively analysis were applied to explain economic behavior of upland farm households. In average, the cost of upland farm is Rp 4.9120.720 and income Rp 13.716.773 in a year. Contribution of off farm activity (45,92%) more than upland farming (37,47%). Excess income are prioritized for investment to buy land and livestock. Food consumption from production itself reaches15,55 %. Abstract

Paddy land conversion to non-agricultural in Jember raises concerns about the threat to food security, this happens because Jember is one of the largest rice producer in East Java. The research method used descriptive, analytic and correlational. Paddy land in Jember from 2005 to 2013 has decreased land area with the average area per year amounted to 81,86 ha/year, while the land needed  for housing, facilities and services, industrial increased by 72,90 ha/year Ha, 12,10 ha/year and 4,46 ha/year. The conversion of agricultural land (paddy) in Jember over a period of 2006 to 2013 caused the decrease of rice production 4.593,09 kw with the level of reduction in production about 31,92%. In the coming period, the rice needs for the community in Jember estimated at 8.368.010 kw by the needs of the average harvested area at 519.118 Ha Keywords : land, conversion,  impact, production, rice

Abstract

This research intended to know the suitable zalacca agriculture industrialism through financial method; to know the sensitivity of zalacca agriculture industrialism; to know the amount value of zalacca processing become “dodol salak; and to know the strategy commodity zallaca development. The location of the research is determined by purposive method. The sampling method in this research is taken by Simple Random Sampling and key person. The data that is used are primary data and secondary data. The analysis data is used are; (1) the suitable financial, the sensitivity analysis, the amount value analysis, and force field analysis. The result analysis show that: the zalacca agriculture industrialism through financial method is workable; the zalacca agriculture industrialism does not sensitive with any change; the tabulation zalacca become “dodol salak” can give the amount value; the development strategy should be formulated by assembled the farmer to take care the zalacca intensively and to inform that related with the benefit zalacca process and marketing product, it held contiguous for zalacca processing with diversification tabulation for supporting home industry when it is not zalacca season.Keywords: Zalacca, suitable financial, sensitivity analysis

Abstract

Sugarcane is a strategic commodities, serves as a raw material in sugar production. One of the sugar factories in Indonesia is PG (Sugar Factory) Djombang Baru. To meet the sugarcane milling capacity per day, PG Djombang Baru collaborate by extending its own sugar cane plantations, or sugar cane farmers, one of which is a sugar cane farmer in partnership with  PG Djombang Baru and credit assistance (farmer partner credit). This study aimed to determine: (1) the characteristics of partner farmers credit PG Djombang Baru, (2) the factors that influence farmers' decisions PG Djombang Baru credit partners to choose varieties of early maturity, middle and end of the cane, and (3) whether the selection of varieties cane maturity effect on sugarcane production. Method Selection of research done intentionally (purposive method). The data used are primary data (in 2013) credit partner farmers, sampling methods using simple random sampling were analyzed by: (1) descriptive analysis, (2) logistic regression analysis, (3) analysis of Cobb-Douglas production function. The analysis showed that: (1) the characteristics of farmers credit partners PG Djombang Baru are as follows: most are male sex, age range 40-61 years, Junior High School up to Senior High School or equivalent, sugarcane farming experience more than 8 years, the land is a land with a lease, and plant more than one type of maturity varieties of sugarcane, (2) the variables that significantly affect the decision making of farmers in choosing varieties ripening and labor sugarcane production and sugar cane; (3) The variables that significantly affect the production of sugar cane land area and a dummy variable maturity end of the cane. Keyword : sugarcane, varieties, production, logistic regression

Abstract

Agricultural development program in Indonesia is the part of economic development.Papua Province in the economic sector, the agriculture sector is the very important role in supporting economic growth in the region.This study aims to analyze the basic sector and basic sub-sector of agriculture, analyze the position sector and the agriculture sector in the future, and the determinants of changes in positions on regional economic growth based on the calculation of the GDP Keerom district and Papua province in 2008-2011.The study used secondary data over a period of four years. The analysis method used is Location Quotient (LQ), Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ), and Total Shift Share (TSS). The analysis LQ show that agriculture sector is thebasic sector in the economy Keerom.While the agriculture sector as the sub-sector basis (leading sector) is plantation, animal husbandry, and forestry.The combined method of LQ and DLQ, show that agriculture sector is still the sector basis in the future.The results of the analysis TSS is known that the deciding factor position change on plantations and fishing sub-sector is the location factor, while the determining factor position change on the livestock sector is the factor of of economic structure.Key words: Agriculture, Location Quotient, Dynamic Location Quotient, Total Shift Share

Abstract

One of aquaculture supporting organization in Indonesia is Balai Perikanan Budidaya Air Payau (BPBAB) which located in Situbondo regency, Province of East Jawa. Performance appraisal is used to achieve the target production of aquaculture. The function of this research are to determine the influence factors of BPBAP Situbondo employee performance by using motivation as intervening variable. This research is explanatory research by using SEM analysis. The result show that leadership style variable is directly and significantly influence to motivation variable, organizational culture variable is directly and significantly influence to motivation variable, and motivation variable is directly and significantly influence to performance appraisal variable, leadership style is not influence to performance appraisal variable if motivation as intervening variable but organizational culture variable is directly and significantly influence to performance appraisal variable by motivation variable or without motivation variable as intervening. Key words: BPBAP Situbondo, Motivation, Performance, SEM

Abstract

Indonesia has experienced steady economic growth in 1980s-1990s, then faced devastating during 2000s. The cricis affected to economic structure. However explanation of the effect especially to estate crops has not clear. This reserach is directed to respon these questions (1) how has the estate sector changed?, and (2) what are source of economic growth of the sectors?. We use Input-output table 1995 and 2000 form Statictic Indonesia to response these questions.Based on tha analysis we find that the economic cricis affect to lower ranking in backward linkage but has higher ranking in forward linkage for estate crops. In another side, the manufactur of estate sector has higher ranking for backward linkage but lower ranking for forward linkage. Then, there is increasing of output during economic cricis for estate sector (includes estate crops and its manufacture). The source of the increasing are final domestic demand and export rather than technological change. This research suggest that to improve the estate crops buy improving the technology.Keywords: estate sectors, backward and forward linkages, structural decompocition analysis

Abstract

PTPN X Ajong Gayasan Plantation Jember is a company that cultivates Down Shade Tobacco ( TBN ) in a large scale. The processing in the warehouse processor or so-called warehouse zinc is a product processing opstapel from drying warehouse to be used as cigar tobacco. This processing is done to obtain a product in the form of a product ready for sale or export of which is carried by the female labor force. This study aims to determine: (1) the correlation between work training with the level of labor productivity in the warehouse processing woman PTPN X Kebun Ajong Gayasan Jember, (2) the standard time and the amount of labor required optimal effective tobacco sorting passage in accordance with the calculation of standard time, and (3) the degree of truth employment of women workers in the warehouse sorting processing section PTPN X Kebun Ajong Gayasan Jember. The research conducted in PTPN X Ajong Gayasan Plantation Jember by purposive method. The determination of sample using Slovin Methodwith samples acquired by 42 respondents from women workers of sorting tobacco section. The data used were primary and secondary data. Data analysis tools used were: (1) Rank Spearman Method; (2) Standart Time; (3) The Level of Jobs Truth (Descriptive Method). The survey results revealed that: (1) there is a relationship between training and productivity of female workers in processing warehouses PTPN X Kebun Ajong Gayasan Jember, (2) the measurement of working time women workers sorting tobacco section PTPN X Kebun Ajong Gayasan obtained Jember cycle time (on average) is 38.968 hours/week, rating factor is 1.12, the normal time is 43.644 hours/week, the value of allowance is 29.5% and the standard time is 56.518 hours/week. While the optimal amount of labor for the efficient sorting each group average is 40 peoples/group or 20 pairs/group, and (3) The level of employment of women workers truth sorting tobacco section PTPN X Kebun Ajong Jember Gayasan is ± 95 % for the first strand of tobacco leaves, on average only 1-2 pieces of leaf tobacco that is not in accordance with the assessment indicators.Keywords : labor women, productivity, standard time, the degree of truth work, training

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the process of strengthening farmer groups through the optimization of environmental and social synergy in farmer groups. The results showed the strengthening of farmer groups can be grown by increasing the synergistic relationship between farmer groups with the social environment. Social environment that can support the strengthening of farmer groups are farmers, gapoktan, Department of Agricultural, Research Institute, Laboratory of pests and diseases, PPAH, financial institutions, HIPPA, traders, kiosk production facilities and universities.Keywords: farmer groups, social environmental, synergy

Abstract

Vanilla processing industry is one of the agro-processing of dried vanilla into vanilla extract. Vanilla industry designed to provide added value for vanilla. The aims of this research is to know financial feasibility of curing vanilla applied on an industrial scale. Calculation of the investment criteria of business feasibility studies vanilla using a modified curing is obtained Net Present Value Rp 1.089.999.998,00, IRR 58,46%, Net Benefit Cost Ratio 1,01, and Pay Back Period for 2,44 years. Based on these parameters, it can be concluded that the design of the vanilla industry is feasible to operate.Keywords: Vanilla, vanillin, financial feasibility, industry
