Abstract

Optimal condition selection in machining operations is an imperative decision for the process engineer as it influences improved tool life and surface roughness values. As the aluminium market is extremely competitive, process engineers strive to understand what to do to gain preference from prospective customers. From this viewpoint, the criteria responsible for operating decisions should be examined. In this paper the WSM, WPM and WASPAS multicriteria methods are proposed for optimal machining conditions for turned aluminium bars. A stepwise methodology of the WSM, WPM and WASPAS methods is detailed. The proposed technique was tested on published data regarding the turning of an aluminium bar, machined on a lathe machine. The case study consists of three input parameters (spindle speed, feed rate and depth of cut) and four responses (cutting temperature, cutting force, surface roughness and material removal rate). After analysing the experimental data using the models, the entropy method chose material removal rate was chosen as the best. Using the three other models, the best selection was run 17 which correspond to an input parameter of 605 rpm spindle speed, 0.12 mm/rev feed rate and 1.8 mm depth of cut. This article offers a completely new approach to operating condition selection in the turning of the aluminium bar. In the current aluminium market, it is extremely important to understand the operating conditions of the machine for enlarged customer patronage and sustainability. The unique feature of this approach is the elevated level of reliability it exhibits.

Abstract

Improving the affective classroom design is essential to maximize student performance and learning achievement. The comfort and performance achievement of Trisakti University Industrial Engineering students are influenced by the affective design of classrooms. This study aimed to use sentiment analysis in the classification of students’ perceptions of the affective classroom design. Student sentiment classification is done using a Support Vector Machine (SVM). The questionnaire analysis results also showed perceptions about the subjects that were considered the most difficult (statistics). The classrooms had a positive sentiment: FGTSC, a sample for the next stage of classroom design formulation. The results show what impressions and things the students consider in choosing the FGTSC class. Some examples of the dominant kansei word are “comfortable,” this shows that students really care about the comfort of a classroom in the learning process. The word kansei for the design concept was collected from students' perceptions of the “positive” label. Design elements that need to be improved include equipment that is less comfortable to use, less lighting, walls with graffiti and uncomfortable seating. The classification results using three SVM types Kernel linear, radial and polynomial obtained linear have the best accuracy value (76%). These results indicate that the classification of student sentiment has the maximum results with SVM linear kernel (dot) type. This method will be used in classifying student sentiment on the results of improving classroom design.

Abstract

Maintenance of the Icon Mall Gresik building is carried out in order to provide convenience for consumers when shopping, traders and building tenants. Every maintenance and maintenance activity has a risk of work accidents that may occur for workers. The research objective is to determine risk assessment and risk identification and determine the status of system failure and its determination. After analyzing the existing risks and system failures that can occur, then making suggestions for improvements with mitigation actions that are expected to reduce the rate of work accidents. The results showed that there were five groups of building utility maintenance jobs with 116 job risks. The results of risk measurement showed that 7 jobs were categorized as high risk. Meanwhile, risk mitigation is divided into 4 levels which result in improvement proposals, namely using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Safety Harness, repairs by managers and periodic building maintenance to avoid utility disruptions, providing boundary lines on engine room holes and carrying out work in accordance with standards. structured operational procedures by the management of the Icon Mall Gresik Building, especially for workers in the engineering department.

Abstract

Currently, the process of washing clothes is a commonly process that carried out in a household. To save human energy and washing time, a washing machine is used. There are a lot of washing machine models on the market, but in general the existing washing machine have standard functions, use electrical energy, quite expensive, and use materials that are less environmentally friendly. Based on these various shortcomings, it is necessary to design an innovative washing machine. The method used in this research is the concept of product design starting from seeing the needs to develop the desired product concept until making a product prototype. The washing machine designed in this study can be used to wash all types of clothes weighing 3 kilograms and is equipped with clothes drying device with a capacity of 20 clothes that rotates during the washing process, so it will speed up the drying process. In addition, the materials used come from secondhand goods, so the price is economic. This washing machine is not designed use electrical energy but kinetic energy, so it is environmentally friendly and can be also used as an exercise tool that can the user's body keep healthy and ergonomic when used.

Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of Indonesian economy. Therefore, it is considered important to notice the condition of MSMEs in Indonesia. The business process in MSMEs usually conducted traditionally, included in determining total amount of production. As a result, sometimes there is a buildup of inventory which causes an increase in the total production cost. On the other hand, lost sales can also occur due to the amount of production couldn’t meet demand. This study aimed to solve production optimization problem with the objective function of minimizing total costs by considering inventory. It is expected that consumer demand can always be fulfilled and there is no overstock through optimization. A case study was conducted in Al-Barik MSME in Bantul Regency which produces various of snacks. Its strategic location makes Al-Barik MSME visited by tourists frequently to buy souvenirs, such as chips. This research was conducted using linear programming with LINGO. According to optimal solution, the minimum total cost spent on banana chips, bitter melon chips, and chili chips for a month was Rp. 98.227.900. Total inventory cost also decreased by an average 82.8% for each product during a month. The optimization made MSME’s able to meet the demand for each product at each period. Therefore, the profit obtained from the three types of products increased by Rp. 3.061.925 in a month.

Abstract

Continuing study to higher education is an important thing for most of high school students,  but there are still obstacles related to the information availability of higher education for high school students. These constraints can be divided into 3 categories, namely limited university information, limited department information, and limited registration information. Currently, there are university information apps, however those applications have not been able to overcome the three categories of obstacles faced. Thus, an design for application that can handle these problems. In this research, a design for application for information about higher education providers was conducted. The application design consists of 4 stages, started by determining needs using the focus group discussion method which involved 9 respondents and produced 23 needs. The second stage, determining design alternatives using the participatory design workshop method involving 8 respondents and producing 4 design alternatives, and selecting an alternative design involving 19 respondents. The third stage is making a high-fidelity prototype with the help of Adobe XD software. In the last stage, evaluation and improvement are carried out by considering the factors of usefulness, effectiveness, efficiency, learnability, and satisfaction. The result of this research is a design of  application that provide information about university that meets aspects of functionality and usability. Those aspects including the usefulness factor 81.79%, the effectiveness factor 82.14%, the efficiency factor 82.14%, the learnability factor 71.43%, and the satisfaction factor 79.64%. Based on these results, this application able to use and meets user needs.

Abstract

PT X is a small enterprise producing various types of jute fabric products. As a traditional business, the company still largely rely on the handiness and crafting skills from their workers. Whilst the business competition increases, PT X requires to strengthen the business by improving product quality in an efficient way. Besides high level of defects, PT X has also non-value-added activities in their production resulting in high overtime hours of their workers. Although PT X considers the overtime is acceptable to achieve the production target, there is room for improvement to reduce the defects as well as to shorten the production lead time. This paper aims to tackle the inefficiency and quality of the company. Lean six sigma is proposed to improve the condition and change management is implemented to ensure the commitment and participation of all staff for the success of change. Hence, this paper proposes the combination of change management and lean six sigma to improve production quality, lead time and staff participation. Combining DMAIC methods with change management, a methodology called DMA(C)IC is used with the middle C is for change. The implementation of the integration between change management in lean six sigma has resulted in the reduced number of defects and shorter lead time and the awareness of the workers to improve their working behavior.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to study the effects of service quality, organization culture and reputation on student satisfaction. This study uses 397 data collected from undergraduate students of Andalas University. The data is analyzed using structural equation modeling with SmartPLS 3.0, because of its ability to evaluate the measurement as well as the structural model. The results of this study show that service quality, organization culture and reputation significantly affect the student satisfaction. It is also found that service quality has the highest effect on student satisfaction, which means that increasing Andalas University service quality would significantly improve the satisfaction of its students. The results of this study also show that the organization culture nor reputation do not have moderating effect on the relationship between service quality and student satisfaction. This finding implies that organization culture nor reputation would not strengthen nor weaken the relationship between service quality and student satisfaction. Based on the findings, this study proposes several recommendations for University of Andalas to improve the satisfaction of its students.

Abstract

The service quality at XYZ High School is still not in accordance as expected. There are still queues for registration, payments, length of academic service, parking capacity, lecture room, library access, security, and etc. This study is conducted to find out the service quality of XYZ high school towards the students' satisfaction. The methods used in this research are the integration method of Servqual, Kano and Quality Function Deployment (QFD), using 5 Servqual dimensions, those are Tangible, Reliability, Responsiveness, Assurance, and Empathy. The gap value of all service attributes provided is negative. It means that the service performance still can't fulfill the students' expectation. Based on the integration calculation of the Servqual, Kano and QFD methods, there are 16 of 31 service attributes need to be improved. The easy attribute in accessing information by online can become priority with the important level of 23.17 by constructing an online integrated information to become the priority technical response which is conducted for the improvement with the percentage of 21.04%.

Abstract

Smartphone technology is rising rapidly around the world. It allows various companies including financial institution to improve services for their customers. Mobile wallet is a cashless payment system that is carried out with a mobile phone. Since 2010, The Central Bank of Indonesia has been encouraging the adoption of cashless payment system, including mobile wallet. Despite the efforts made, the use of cashless payment system in Indonesia is still low. This paper investigates the determinants of customers’ intention to adopt mobile wallet using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) Model. It offers theoretical contributions by extending UTAUT2 with social connectedness and culture. Empirical data from 139 Indonesian customers were used to test the proposed model using partial least square structural equation modeling. It was found that performance expectancy, hedonic motivation, price value, and habits significantly influence customers’ intention to adopt mobile wallet. This study also found that social connectedness significantly affects performance expectancy and effort expectancy. The findings of this study would also be beneficial for mobile wallet providers to develop effective strategies to increase the use of mobile wallet in Indonesia.
