Abstract

This experimental study aimed at finding out the significant effect of Scripted Songs technique and conventional teaching technique towards English competences of fourth grade students of SD Negeri No 6 Dalung, Kuta Utara Sub-District, Badung in academic year 2013/2014. The design of this study was post-test only control group design. The implementation of cluster random sampling technique showed that class 4.A as the control group which was taught by using conventional teaching technique and class 4.C as the experimental group which was taught by using Scripted Songs technique. Both groups consisted of 40 students each. The results of data analysis showed that the students who were taught by implementing Scripted Songs technique performed better than those who were taught by implementing conventional teaching technique. The mean score of experimental group was 79.1 and the control group was 75.5. The results of t-test analysis showed that the tobs was 3.755. It was higher than the value of the tcv at 1.99085 (α = 0.05). Moreover, the result of questionnaire indicated that the implementation of Scripted Songs technique motivated the students in comprehending English competences. In conclusion, Scripted Songs technique contributed in giving highly significant effect to students’ English competences. Keywords: Scripted songs, English competences

Abstract

Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk menjelaskan proses pembelajaran yang berdasarkan pada pendidikan karakter dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di SMPN 2 Singaraja. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: 1) untuk mengetahui bagaimana guru merencanakan pendidikan karakter, 2) untuk mengetahui bagaimana guru menerapkan pendidikan karakter di dalam kelas, 3) untuk mengetahui bagaimana guru menilai pendidikan karakter. Penelitian ini dirancang dalam bentuk penelitian descriptive qualitative. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara dan menganalisis dokumen. Instrument yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah: peneliti itu sendiri, lembar observasi, panduan wawancara, alat perekam dan checklist. Subject dari penelitian ini adalah murid-murid kelas VIII-11 dan VIII-12 beserta guru bahasa Inggris di SMPN 2 Singaraja. Hasil dari penelitian ini menemukan bahwa dalam merencanakan pendidikan karakter di SMPN 2 Singaraja, guru menggunakan silabus sebagai panduan utama. Guru menggunakan keputusan pribadinya untuk menentukan nilai pendidikan apa yang akan dituangkan dalam rencana pembelajaran dikarenakan dalam silabus tidak dijelaskan secara jelas tentang nilai pendidikan karakter. Dalam menerepkan pendidikan karakter, guru hanya menggunakan fasilitas yang sudah disiapkan oleh sekolah. Disisi lain, dalam menilai pendidikan karakter, guru hanya menggunakan rubric penilaian afektif yang terdapat dalam rencana pembelajaran karena tidak ada panduan pasti mengenai hal tersebut. Kata Kunci : Pendidikan karakter, perencanaan, penerapan, penilaian. This study aimed at describing the character based instructional process in English language subject at SMPN 2 Singaraja. The purposes of this research were: 1) to know how the English teacher plan character education, 2) to know how English teacher implement character education at class, 3) to know how English teacher assess character education. This research was designed as a descriptive qualitative research. The data were collected through observation, interview and document study. The instruments in this study were: the researcher itself, observation sheet, interview guide, recording tools and checklist. The subjects of this research were students of class VIII-11 and VIII-12 and English teacher at SMPN 2 Singaraja. The result of this study found that in planning character education at SMPN 2 Singaraja, the teacher used syllabus as the main reference. The teachers used his own decision on which values that might be relevant to be integrated in a lesson since the syllabus does not explicitly stated the values. In implementing character education, the teacher used available facilities provided by the school. Moreover, in assessing character education, the teacher only used affective assessment rubric on the lesson plan since there was no precise guidance about it. keyword : Character education, planning, implementing, assessing

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan uantuk menganalisis penggunaan tindak tutur dalam pengaturan kelas oleh guru bahasa Inggris di SDN 1 Pemaron. subjek dalam studi ini yaitu guru bahasa inggris dan siswa SDN 1 Pemaron pada akademik 2016/2017. Penelitian ini dikategorikan sebagai penelitian deskripsi studi kasus yang focus pada kualitative data. Data dari studi ini dikumpulkan melalui observasi, perekaman, pencatatan, dan data transkrip. Studi ini menemukan empat tipe speech acts yaitu assertive, directive, expressive, and commissive yang muncul pada pengaturan kelas oleh guru bahasa inggris di SDN 1 Pemaron. 229 ungkapan telah dianalisis sebagai kategori tindak tutur. Dalam studi ini, tindak directive adalah penggunaan terbanyak dalam pengaturan kelas yaitu 161 ungkapan. Ungkapan-ungkapan tersebut berdampak mengurangi penyimpangan perilaku siswa ketika belajar mengajar.Kata Kunci : pengaturan kelas, tindak tutur This study aimed to analyze the speech acts used in classroom management approach that applied by the English teacher on SDN 1 Pemaron. The subject was the English teacher and students at SDN 1 Pemaron in the academic year of 2016/2017. This research was categorized as descriptive case-study research in which this research focuses on qualitative data. The data of this study were collected through observation, recording, note taking, and data transcription. This study found four types of speech acts namely assertive, directive, expressive and commisive which appeared on classroom management by the English teacher at SDN 1 Pemaron. 229 utterances were analyzed as speech acts category. In this study, directive acts were the most use in classroom management which was 161 utterances.Those utterances reduced student’s misbehaviour during teaching and learning.keyword : classroom management approaches,speech acts

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan persepsi siswa terhadap penyisipan pendidikan karakter pada buku EFL untuk siswa SMP Negeri se-Kecamatan Buleleng tahun ajaran 2016/2016. Subyek dari penelitian ini adalah 210 siswa SMP se-Kecamatan Buleleng. Obyek penelitian ini adalah persepsi siswa. Data penelitian ini diperoleh menggunakan angket penelitian dan lembar pertanyaan wawancara tertulis tak terstuktur. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian survei dengan cara menyebarkan angket ke siswa. Data yang telah didapatkan, dianalisis dengan metode deskriptif statistik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, nilai rata-rata dari semua siswa adalah 128.3 dan nilai standar deviasi dari semua siswa adalah 10.58.Hasil persentase dari perhitungan nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 86%. Oleh karena itu, dari data analisis, dapat disimpulkan bahwa siswa mempunyai persepsi positif dengan kecendrungan yang tinggi terhadap penyisipan pendidikan karakter pada buku EFL.Kata Kunci : buku EFL, pendidikan karakter, persepsi siswa This research aimed to describe the students? perception towards the insertion of character education in EFL Text book for SMP Negeri Students in Kecamatan Buleleng academic year 2016/2017. The subject of this research was 210 SMP students in Kecamatan Buleleng. The object of this research was students? perception. The data of this research were obtained by using questionnaire and non-organized written interview question sheet. This research was survey research by distributing the questionnaire to the students. The collected data were analyzed by using descriptive statistic method. The research result shows that the average score of the students is 128.3 and the standard deviation score from the students is 10.58. The result of the calculation of the average score is 86%.Therefore, from the data analysis, it can be concluded that the students have high tendency on their positive perception toward the insertion of character education in their EFL text book.keyword : Character education, EFL text book, students? perception

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisa jenis-jenis tindak tutur asertif dan gaya ujaran yang digunakan oleh siswa kelas sebelas di SMA Negeri 3 Singaraja. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 30 siswa, yang terdiri dari 13 perempuan dan 17 laki-laki. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif, data penelitian ini diperoleh melalui metode elisitasi data, merekam dan wawancara. Data yang terkumpulkan selanjutnya ditranskripsi dan digolongkan berdasarkan 6 kategori tindak tutur asertif menurut Searle. Hasil analisa menunjukkan bahwa tindak tutur asertif siswa dapat dihadirkan secara berurutan, sebagai berikut: menyatakan (38.0%), mengeluh (27.12%), menyarankan (16.60%), melaporkan (11.64%), menuntut (3.70%), lalu diikuti oleh membual (3.01%) dari 730 ujaran. Masing-masing tindak tutur aserif didapati menggunakan lebih dari satu pola kalimat yang berbeda-beda, contohnya, ada 21 jenis pola yang digunakan dalam tindak tutur asertif menyatakan. Analisa gaya ujaran menunjukkan bahwa gaya ujaran yang paling sering digunakan siswa adalah tidak resmi yang digunakan dalam tindak tutur menyatakan (36.98%), sementara gaya ujaran yang paling sedikit digunakan adalah resmi yang digunakan dalam tindak tutur menyarankan (0.13%).Kata Kunci : deskriptif kualitatif, tindak tutur asertif, gaya ujaran The intention of this research was to analyze the types of assertive acts and the speech styles used by the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Singaraja. The subjects of this study were 30 students, consisting of 13 females and 17 males. This research was a qualitative research, in which the data of the research were obtained through data elicitation, recording and interview. The data gathered were then transcribed and classified based on the 6 categories of assertive acts according to Searle. The results of the analysis showed that the assertive acts used by the students can sequentially be presented, as follows: to state (38.00%), to complain (27.12%), to suggest (16.60%), to report (11.64%), to claim (3.70%), then followed by to boast (3.01%) out of 730 speeches. Each of the assertive acts was realized by using more than one different sentence patterns, for instance, 21 kinds of patterns were used in to state. The analysis of speech styles showed that the most style frequently used by the students was informal that was used in to state (36.98%), meanwhile the less style was formal that was used in to suggest (0.13%). keyword : descriptive qualitative, assertive acts, speech styles

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kode-kode yang digunakan oleh Masyarakat Bugis di Pulau Serangan, Denpasar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: 1) Untuk mengetahui apa saja kode-kode (campur kode, alih kode, pemilihan kode dan aturan pemanggilan) yang digunakan masyarakat Bugis saat berkomunikasi, 2) Untuk mengetahui bagaimana Masyarakat Bugis di Pulau Serangan, Bali menggunakan kode-kode untuk berkomuikasi dengan masyarakat Bugis lainnya dan masyarakat sekitaran Pulau Serangan. Instrumen pada penelitian ini adalah: peneliti, alat rekam dan cek list. Subyek dari peneltian ini adalah masyarakat Bugis di Pulau Serangan, Denpasar. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa Sesuai dengan ranah-ranah, kode campuran sering muncul di ranah pertemanan, sedangkan alih kode sering muncul di ranah agama. Sesuai dengan presentase domain pada pemeilihan kode, ranah keluarga lebih memilih untuk menggunakan Bahasa Bugis untuk berkomunikasi, ranah ketetanggaan lebih memilih menggunakan Bahasa Indonesia, ranah pertemanan lebih memilih bahasa Bugis, ranah pendidikan lebih memilih untuk menggunakan Bahasa Indonesia dan ranah agama juga lebih memilih Bahasa Indonesia. Campur kode lebih banyak digunakan oleh masyarakat Bugis untuk berkomunikasi dari pada alih kode. Sesuai dengan ranah, code mixing lebih terjadi di ranah pertemanan dan alih kode lebih sering terjadi di ranah keagamaan.Kata Kunci : campur kode, alih kode, ranah dan tutur masyarakat This study aimed at describing how codes are used by Bugis speech community in Serangan Island, Denpasar. The purposes of this research were: 1)to know what are codes that Bugis people use when they communicate with other Bugis people and society around Serangan Island, Bali, 2) to know how Bugis people in Seragan Island, Bali use the codes to communicate with other society in Serangan Island (Balinese daspora and Javanese diaspora). The instruments in this study were: the researcher itself, recording tools and checklist. The subjects of this research were Bugis speech community in Serangan Island, Denpasar. Finding of this study found that as per domains percentage of code choice, in family domain Bugis diaspora prefer to use Bugis language to communicate, neighborhood domain prefer to use Bahasa Indonesia, in friendship domain Bugis diaspora prefer to use Bugis language, in education domainBugus diaspora prefer to use Bahasa Indonesia and in religion domain Bugis diaspora also prefer to use Bahasa Indonesia. Code mixing is the code which is often used by Bugis speech community rather than code switching. As per domains, code mixing often occurred in friendship domain, meanwhile code switching often occurred in religion domain.keyword : code mixing, code switching, domain, speech community

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan proses pengembangan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik berbasis kegiatan literasi bahasa Inggris di kelas 4 SD semester ganjil; (2) lembar kerja berbasis kegiatan literasi bahasa Inggris untuk siswa kelas 4 SD sesmeter ganjil yang tervalidasi ; (3) menguji kualitas lembar kerja berbasis kegiatan literasi bahasa Inggris yang dikembangkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan model Design & Development (D&D). Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan cara: 1). Observasi; 2). Studi dokumen; 3). Kuisioner (Checklist); dan 4). Uji lapangan di Sekolah Dasar. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif (uji-t). Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah: (1) deskripsi produk akhir berupa Lembar kerja Kegiatan Peserta Didik berbasis kegiatan literasi bahasa Inggris untuk siswa kelas 4 SD semester ganjil; (2) produk akhir yang dihasilkan dinyatakan valid berdasarkan penilaian ahli sebesar 140,0 yang tergolong kategori sangat baik; (3) hasil uji lapangan terbukti efektif meningkatkan keterampilan literasi bahasa Inggris siswa yang ditunjukkan melalui hasil uji-t, yaitu sebesar 6.43. This study aimed at analyzing the implementation of classroom interaction characteristics in writing at SMAN 2 Singaraja viewed from information sources and the description of constrains were found in implementing multi-way interaction in writing at SMAN 2 Singaraja viewed from information sources. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) Mengembangkan topic yang dibutuhkan dalam buku cerita dwibahasa anak-anak untuk siswa kelas 5 di SDN 3 Banjar Jawa Singaraja (2) menjelaskn nilai moral yang dibutuhkan untuk mengembangkan pendidikan karakter dalam buku cerita dwibahasa anak-anak untuk siswa kelas 5 di SDN 3 Banjar Jawa Singaraja (3) menjelaskan kualitas dari buku cerita dwibahasa anak-anak untuk siswa kelas 5 di SDN 3 Banjar Jawa Singaraja. Penelitian ini adalah (Penelitian dan Pengembangan) yang berdasarkan pada model Sugiyono. Terdapat beberapa prosedur yang perlu diikuti yakni mengidentifikasi masalah dan potensi, pengumpulan data, mendisain produk, memvalidasi disain produk, merevisi disain product, mencoba desain product dan merevisi produk. Dalam penelitian ini terdapat dua puluh delapan siswa kelas lima sekolah dasar sebagai subyek penelitian. Peneliti menggunakan enam instrument seperti lembar observasi, panduan wawancara, kuisioner, ceklist, rubric dan catatan untuk mendapatkan data dalam penelitian ini. Pada akhir penelitian ini terdapat lima contoh dari buku cerita dwibahasa anak-anak yang mengandung beberapa tema dan pendidikan karakter berdasarkan silabus kurikulum 2013. Terdapat beberapa tema yakni identitas, keluarga, rumah, lingkungan sekolah dan kegiatan sehari-hari. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa kualitas dari buku cerita dibahasa anak-anak dapat dikategorikan sebagai media yang sangat bagus. Demikian hasil dari penelitian ini bahwa media yang di kembangkan pantas untuk di gunakan sebagai media dalam mengajar bahasa inggris untuk siswa kelas lima.Kata Kunci : buku cerita dwibahasa, pengajaran bahasa inggris untuk anak usia dini, pendidikan karakter This research aimed to (1) Develop topics that were needed for bilingual children story book for 5th grade students of SDN 3 Banjar Jawa, Singaraja (2) to describe the values that were needed to develop the students? character in bilingual children storybook for 5th grade students of SDN 3 Banjar Jawa, Singaraja (3) to describe the qualities of the bilingual children story book for 5th grade students of SDN 3 Banjar Jawa, Singaraja. This research was R & D (Research and Development) which based on Sugiyono model. There were several procedure that need to be follow namely identifying potency and problem, collecting data, designing product, validating design product, revising design product, trying-out product, and revising product .In this research there were twenty-eight students of fifth grade students of elementary school as the subject of the study. The researcher used six instruments such as observation sheet, interview guide, questionnaire, checklist, rubric, and notes to obtain the data in this research. At the end of this research there were five prototypes of bilingual children storybooks which consist of several themes and character education according to syllabus of curriculum 2013. The themes were identity, family, house, school environment and daily activity. The result of this research showed that the quality of bilingual children storybook developed was categorized as excellent media. Abstract

AbstractThis study was a classroom based action research which aimed to find out whether Word Mixing technique can improve students’ vocabulary mastery. This study was conducted in two cycles consisting of three sessions in each cycle. There were two kinds of data (qualitative and quantitative data) which were collected through tests and writer’s diary.The result of the tests showed that the students’ vocabulary mastery was improved in each cycle. The students’ mean score was 65.30 in pre test, 71.79 in post test 1, and improved became 81.13 in post test 2. It can be also seen on the number of students passing the test. There were 4 students passed in the pre test, 18 students in the post test 1, and 36 students in the post test 2. The result of writer’s diary also showed that the students gave positive response toward the implementation of Word Mixing Technique. Based on the results of the tests and the writer’s diary, it can be concluded that vocabulary mastery of VIIC students successfully improved by the implementation of Word Mixing technique. Keywords: Word Mixing Technique, Vocabulary Mastery
