Abstract

Most high school students still struggle with writing observational texts, particularly when it comes to describing objects in detail, critically, and creatively. This study aims to examine the impact of immersive learning supported by augmented reality (AR) and automated writing evaluation (AWE) on students’ writing skills and higher-order thinking skills. This study used a quasi-experimental method involving 250 high school students divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group received AR- and AWE-assisted immersive learning, while the control group received conventional instruction. Data collection was conducted using a writing skills assessment rubric, a higher-order thinking skills questionnaire, and feedback coding. Data were analyzed using ANCOVA, the Chi-square test, and mediation analysis.The results of the study indicate that AR- and AWE-assisted immersive learning has a significant impact on improving writing skills and higher-order thinking skills compared to conventional learning. Improvements in writing skills were observed in task achievement, coherence and cohesion, vocabulary use, as well as grammatical variety and accuracy. Additionally, the use of AR and AWE fosters reflection, critical thinking, creativity, metacognition, and problem-solving skills among students. This study concludes that the integration of technology in writing instruction can optimize writing competencies while simultaneously enhancing higher-order thinking skills and the quality of the learning process.

Abstract

Elementary school students' small-ball game skills have not yet developed optimally because physical education instruction remains predominantly teacher-centered and has not adopted innovative learning models. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the PAK ADI learning model (Participatory, Analytical, Creative, Active, Demonstrative, and Innovative) in improving elementary school students' small-ball game skills. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method based on the Borg and Gall model, consisting of the stages of preliminary research, planning, validation, evaluation and revision, and model implementation. The research participants included subject-matter experts, instructional experts, physical education teachers, and elementary school students involved in both small-group and large-group trials. Data were collected through classroom observations, validation questionnaires, user response questionnaires, and small-ball game skills tests. The research instruments consisted of expert validation sheets, observation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. Data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative techniques, while the effectiveness of the model was evaluated using an independent t-test at a significance level of 0.05 with the assistance of the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The findings indicated that the PAK ADI learning model met the criteria of validity, practicality, attractiveness, and effectiveness in improving elementary school students' small-ball game skills. Therefore, the PAK ADI learning model is suitable as an innovative alternative for physical education instruction to enhance both the quality of learning and students' small-ball game skills.

Abstract

The decline in the number of new students is a problem faced by a number of schools due to the suboptimal use of digital media as a means of promotion and student admission services. In addition, the New Student Admission System (SPMB) process is not yet digitally integrated, resulting in less effective information dissemination, registration processes, and student data management. This study aims to analyze, develop, and evaluate the design and implementation of omnichannel E-SPMB as a digital channel integration strategy to support the effectiveness of SPMB. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model development design. The research subjects consisted of 2 expert validators, namely 1 material expert and 1 media expert, as well as trial subjects involving 1 school principal and 1 SPMB team leader. Data were collected through observation, interviews, expert validation questionnaires, and user response questionnaires using observation guidelines, interview guidelines, and questionnaire sheets. Data analysis used quantitative descriptive techniques, qualitative descriptive techniques, and Paired Sample t-tests. The results of the study indicate that omnichannel E-SPMB has a very high level of validity and demonstrates significant effectiveness in increasing the ease of promotion, registration, and integration of SPMB digital services. Thus, omnichannel E-SPMB can be an alternative strategy for adaptive digital-based student admission management and contribute to increasing the effectiveness of educational services.

Abstract

Bullying in schools is a socio-psychological problem that has a significant impact on the emotional, academic, and moral development of students. This phenomenon is still found at MA Al Iman Adiwerna, especially in the form of verbal bullying and mild physical violence, which are often considered jokes. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of role-playing techniques in group guidance services to address bullying behavior among students in class X-1. The study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving 11 participants consisting of the principal, guidance and counseling teachers, and students. Data collection was conducted through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that the application of role-playing techniques was effective in increasing students' awareness of the impact of bullying, improving interpersonal communication, and fostering empathy and emotional sensitivity. The experience of playing the roles of perpetrator, victim, and witness helped students understand the emotional and moral consequences of bullying behavior. These findings confirm that role-playing techniques are an effective and sustainable group guidance intervention strategy that contributes to strengthening character education and creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Abstract

This study is driven by the urgency to transform scientific activities in schools from extracurricular practices into an institutionalized academic culture. The study aims to analyze the principal’s strategic planning in institutionalizing the Youth Scientific Work (KIR) literacy program as a mandatory academic requirement. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. The subjects of the study include the principal, teachers, and students involved in the KIR program. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies using interview guidelines, observation sheets, and document analysis instruments. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model by Miles and Huberman, including data collection, condensation, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the principal’s strategic orchestration involves four key stages: environmental analysis to map research ecosystems and global challenges; organizational analysis to assess human resources and scientific infrastructure; formulation of KIR program objectives integrated into the curriculum; and determination of operational strategies that engage the entire school community. The study concludes that institutionalizing a research culture requires strong strategic intent and systematic planning from the principal. This research implies that strategic leadership plays a critical role in embedding sustainable scientific literacy within school systems.

Abstract

The phenomenon of mismatch between the chosen major and students’ interests in vocational education has become an important issue because it has the potential to affect the learning process and students’ psychological conditions. This study aims to examine the factors that influence the selection of majors as well as their impact on students’ learning engagement and psychological conditions. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects consist of eleventh-grade students of the Mechanical Engineering major selected purposively, as well as supporting informants, namely guidance and counseling teachers and the head of the major. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation using interview guidelines as the main instrument. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive model through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing with triangulation techniques to ensure data validity. The results of the study show that the selection of majors is influenced by internal factors in the form of interest, motivation, and self-confidence, as well as external factors such as a grade-based admission system, family economic conditions, and parental encouragement, which indicate that external factors tend to be more dominant than internal factors in shaping students’ decisions in choosing the Mechanical Engineering major. The mismatch between majors and interests has an impact on low learning engagement, academic difficulties, as well as the emergence of stress and doubts about the future. These findings imply the need to strengthen career guidance services and to develop more adaptive placement systems in order to minimize the risk of major–student mismatch.

Abstract

Teacher performance is a crucial factor in determining the quality of learning, but problems remain, including suboptimal principal leadership and teacher achievement motivation, which impact performance achievement. This study aims to analyze the influence of transformational leadership and achievement motivation on teacher performance at a senior high school (SMAN). The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The study population consisted of 40 teachers, all of whom served as respondents. Data were collected through a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression. The results showed that transformational leadership and achievement motivation had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, both partially and simultaneously. Both variables contributed significantly to explaining variations in teacher performance. This finding indicates that improving teacher performance requires a synergy between effective transformational leadership and strengthening achievement motivation. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of developing principal leadership capacity and teacher motivation enhancement programs as strategies to improve the quality of learning and education.

Abstract

Science learning in elementary schools often emphasizes the theoretical delivery of concepts, which has not optimally fostered students’ critical thinking and scientific skills. This study aims to analyze the effect of contextual Problem-Based Learning on elementary school students’ problem-solving abilities and scientific process skills in science learning. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, as full randomization of classes was not feasible in the natural school setting. The research participants consisted of fifth-grade students from two public elementary schools, which were assigned as the experimental and control groups. Data were collected through problem-solving ability tests and scientific process skills tests. The data were analyzed using the Analysis of Covariance to control for differences in students’ initial abilities. The results indicate that contextual problem-based learning exerts a very strong effect on improving students’ problem-solving abilities after controlling for their initial competence. In addition, this learning model also has a significant effect on students’ scientific process skills, with a moderate level of influence. These findings suggest that contextual problem-based learning is effective for elementary school science instruction, as it enhances higher-order thinking skills while simultaneously fostering students’ scientific skills in a more optimal and sustainable manner.

Abstract

Science learning on the topic of ecosystems in elementary schools still faces various problems, such as low student engagement, limited contextual teaching materials, and less than optimal development of collaboration and creativity skills. The flood-prone environment of students demands learning that integrates disaster literacy with ecosystem concepts through active and meaningful activities. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Student Worksheets (LKPD) based on the Discovery Learning model containing flood disaster literacy on the topic of ecosystems in improving collaboration and creativity skills of elementary school students. This study is a research and development (R&D) using the ADDIE model. The research subjects consisted of fifth-grade students selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through expert validation, observation, testing, and documentation, then analyzed using validity analysis techniques and analysis of learning outcomes improvement. The results showed that the developed LKPD obtained the category of very valid and very practical based on the results of the validator's assessment and student responses to use. The implementation of LKPD also showed effectiveness in improving collaboration and creativity skills of students who were in the high category. Thus, the Discovery Learning-based LKPD containing flood disaster literacy on the topic of ecosystems is declared valid, practical, and effective for use in science learning in elementary schools to improve students' collaboration and creativity skills.

Abstract

The low level of understanding of basic multiplication concepts among elementary school students remains a recurring educational challenge in Indonesia. This study aims to examine the effect of the GASING (Easy, Fun, Enjoyable) method on third-grade students’ understanding of basic multiplication concepts. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group, involving students from two schools selected through purposive sampling. The experimental class received instruction using the GASING method through structured stages, namely concrete, abstract, and mental calculation, while the control class received conventional instruction. Data were collected through essay tests and analyzed using N-Gain scores, t-tests, and Cohen’s d effect size. The results indicate that the experimental class achieved a significantly higher improvement in learning outcomes compared to the control class, with a high level of improvement and a large effect size. These findings imply that the GASING method can serve as an effective alternative instructional approach to enhance students’ understanding of multiplication concepts in elementary school, and has the potential to be more broadly integrated into primary mathematics teaching practices.
