Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to construct a conceptual model of spiritual happiness (sa'ādah) and analyze the mechanisms for achieving it from the perspective of Imam Al-Ghazali's Sufism. Using qualitative research methods with a content analysis approach, data was collected through purposive selection of key texts in Ihya Ulumuddin that were selected thematically and interpreted using Carol D. Ryff's psychological well-being framework. The Psychological Well-Being (PWB) model emphasizes eudaimonic dimensions, such as self-acceptance, life purpose, and self-development, as its foundation. The results of the study reveal that Al-Ghazali formulated a psychotherapeutic mechanism in which the internalization of the qualities of qanaah (self-satisfaction) and tawadlu (humility) function as interventions to reduce distress caused by greed and ujub, which ultimately leads individuals to a state of ma'rifat as the pinnacle of happiness. These findings have practical implications for Islamic psychology to develop Sufi-based psychotherapy, as well as for modern psychological therapy to integrate spiritual concepts in achieving inner peace. Abstract

This study aims to formulate the concept and application of spiritual mindfulness based on Qur'anic values and analyze its contribution to developing the mental and spiritual health of Muslim individuals in the contemporary era. Qur'anic mindfulness is perceived as full awareness of Allah's presence and will in every aspect of life, which is practiced through understanding and appreciating the verses of the Qur'an. This concept offers a synthesis between modern psychological principles and Islamic values, resulting in a new approach that not only emphasizes presence in the moment but also connection with God in facing the various dynamics of life. This study uses thematic interpretation analysis and empirical study methods with data analysis using PRISMA, including Identification, Screening, Eligibility, and Inclusion, to explore how this practice can strengthen emotional resilience and provide psychological calm, especially when facing anxiety and life crises. The study found that Qur'anic mindfulness is not merely a short-term psychological solution, but also forms a solid spiritual foundation, strengthens self-awareness, and supports a transcendental relationship with Allah. This practice is believed to reduce anxiety and increase resilience. Thus, the impact of Qur'anic spiritual mindfulness has the potential to become a universal and effective psychotherapeutic intervention to support mental and spiritual well-being in modern multicultural societies. Abstract

Flow is a state of optimal experience characterized by full concentration, intrinsic motivation, and a sense of control during an activity. This study explores the flow experience of female university students in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) while memorizing the Qur’an. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with five respondents and analyzed manually using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The findings revealed three superordinate themes: absorption in memorization, effortless control supported by spiritual discipline, and intrinsic reward linked to faith and fulfillment. These themes reflect how respondents experience deep focus and enjoyment while engaging in Qur’an memorization. Several internal factors such as personal motivation, clarity of goals, and emotion regulation enhanced their ability to enter the flow state. At the same time, external factors like quiet environment, peer encouragement, sand parents support also played a significant role. Respondents adopted specific strategies to sustain flow, including seeking meaning in memorized verses, environmental preparation and emotional regulation. The study highlights the unique spiritual and cultural context of Qur’an memorization, showing that flow can be deeply influenced by religious commitment and community support. These results contribute to the understanding of flow in non-Western, faith- based learning environments and provide insight into how spiritual practices can support optimal psychological experiences in education. Abstract

Abstract: The widespread phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) among Muslim social media users has been associated with heightened anxiety and other mental health challenges, revealing a critical gap in psychological interventions that often neglect spiritual dimensions. This study aims to explore the relevance of the Islamic concept of qana’ah as articulated by Ibnu Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah, positioning it as a spiritual countermeasure to FOMO within the framework of tazkiyatun nafs (purification of the soul). Employing a narrative review approach, this research synthesizes insights from classical Islamic texts and contemporary empirical studies to construct an integrative perspective. The findings indicate that FOMO contributes to psychological distress and reduced quality of life, whereas qana’ah, cultivated through practices such as muhasabah (self-reflection), gratitude, and tawakkal (trust in God), enhances psychological well-being and resilience in digital contexts. This study proposes a novel framework that bridges modern psychology and Islamic wisdom, while recommending future empirical research to validate the practical effectiveness of qana’ah-based interventions across diverse Muslim populations.
