Abstract

One of the causes for the decline of tiger shrimp production due to slow growth and high mortality. Many ways have been done by fish farmers in the town of Tarakan to increase the production of one of them is by antibiotics, but it is an environmentally friendly manner. The use of natural materials can be an alternative solution to accelerate growth and suppress mortality. Karamunting plant is a herbaceous plant that does not have economic value and are found in Indonesia, especially in Kalimantan, this plant contains a precursor lanosterol as shrimp growth. This research was conducted with several stages: (1). The extraction of karamunting plant (Melastoma malabathricum), (2). Treatment by dipping the extract into the tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) maintenance for 4 weeks variable concentrations of 0 (control), 100 ppm (P1), 75 ppm (P2), 50 ppm (P3), 20 ppm (P4) and 10 ppm ( P5), (3). Measured parameter of survival rate black tiger shrimp and (5) Data analysis. The statistical results showed that the survival rate of the ethanol extract showed significantly different Karamunting (P˂0,05). The average survival rate in the controls (43.06 ± 10.22%), P1 (78.06 ± 8.55%), P2 (75.33 ± 4.91%), P3 (66 ± 12.39% , P4 (70.66 ± 5.34%) and P5 (75 ± 4.71%). Keywords : Karamunting (Melastoma malabhatricum), Black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon), Survival rate.

Abstract

Nutrition value and optimum digestibility of feed formulation can support fish growth out. However, most common constraint is low fish growth out caused by feeding that contain high energy but cannot be digested by fish. Papaya is one of producing papain enzyme (protease) which capable of increasing digestibility and feed protein absorption that impact to enhancing fish growth out. The aim of this research is to find out effectiveness bioenrichment of papaya fruit meal formulation for tilapia growth out performance. Research using completely randomized design with five treatments and three replications. Papaya fruit meal with 0, 1.25, 1.75, 2 and 2.25 g/kg concentration of feed formulation given to tilapia during thirty days period. The results showed that, bioenrichment of papaya fruit meal 2.25g/kg became the best concentration when compared other treatments. Feed with addition of papaya fruit meal 2.25gr/kg was able to produce 29.13g of absolute weight, 7.57g spesific weight, 3.35cm absolute length, 2.22cm specific length and 1.16 point of feed convertion ratio value with 60% survival rate during treatment period. Neverthless, analysis of variance of the sixth treatments showed no significant difference from the overall parameters that was observed. Based on results it can be concluded bioenrichment of papaya fruit meal as much as 2.25g/kg of feed become the best formulation for Tilapia growth out performance. Keywords :Bioenrichment, Papaya Meal, Nile Tilapia

Abstract

The availability of natural food in the waters affected by internal condition that isnutrient content. With sufficient nutrients will be able to support the growth ofphytoplankton which in turn form the food chain as part of the ecological chain events in it. Brackish water pond is one of human making ecosystem. Commonly, It’s use for fisheries production especially shrimp or fishes purporting. In Coastal of North Kalimantan, to running its have been used traditional system. This system is depending to the natural condition. The Available of nutrients and plankton condition are important thing for supporting life in the waters column and for management system brackish water pond. Thus, changes in the content of nutrients and plankton in the environment and in the brackish water pond becomes very necessary to be known. This study aims to determine the condition of nutrient content and plankton in the pond waters environtment. Nitrate concentrations in the pond water was found ranged from 0.0004 to 0.309 ppm, while in the waters of the river / outlets ranging from 0.012 to 0.243 ppm. The phosphate concentration in the pond water obtained in this study ranged from 0.001 to 0.741 ppm, while in the waters of the river ranges from 0019 to 0.067 ppm. In generally, nutrient concentration range obtained is still support for the life of plankton in the brackish water pond.Key words: nutrients, nitrat, fosfat, plankton, brackish water ponds.
