Abstract

This research was aimed at producing a learning trajectory, which could help the students to understand the concept of permutations study via role playing activity in the election of chairman and vice-chairman of Intra School Students Organization. The design of this research was Indonesia’s Realistic Mathematics Education approach. The sample of this reasearch were 36 students of the tenth grade of Senior High School No 15 Palembang. The data were obtained from observations, recorded vedeos, photos, students’ sheet activities, and field documentations. The result of this research showed that the learning trajectory could help the students to understand the concept of permutations study. By using role playing activity, the students have determined the administrative committee of chairman and vice-chairman election of Intra School Students Organization from 2, 3, 4, and 5 candidates, which will enable them to choose the number of formed groups arrangement, and to help them in understanding the concept of permutaions from that election.

Abstract

Primary school children are included in the vulnerable group because they are still in a growth and development phase. In Indonesia, many accidents involve children due to their lack of knowledge, excessive energy, and high curiosity. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the application of safety values in formal education material, in order to evaluate how adequate the current teaching materials in encouraging children to practice safety culture.Petompon 2, one of the primary school used in this study, showed that 60% subjects in grade 1 contain application of safety values, and subjects from grade 2 to 6 showed that 14.3%, 90%, 100%, 87.5%, and 50% subjects, consecutively, already contain safety education. The solutions offered are improving teacher’s capacity in learning process and integrating the safety values into education subjects, such as: in sport education, natural science, social science, citizenship education, Islamic religion, mathematics, and Indonesian language. Other methods available are integrating safety values into extracurricular activities and introducing educative game on safety values to primary school students.

Abstract

This was a field research (literature review and exploration) with descriptive quantitative approach. This study aims: (1) to develop a model (scheme) to assess mathematical power, (2) to test the validity of instruments of mathematical power assessment, and (3) to developa valid and reliable test and non-test instrument prototypes as a mathematical power measurement. The research instruments consist of 4 items of essay test, 20 sheets of observation on investigative activities, and 20 items of questionnaires. Validity test was conducted through constructions built up from 3 aspects of mathematical power ability. Result of instrument analysis showed that: (1) the r of instrument test = 0.947, meaning that the instrument is reliable, (2) the r of activity observation sheets = 0.912, meaning that the instrument is reliable, and (3) the r of questionnaires = 0.770, meaning that the questionnaire is reliable on 0.05 significance level. This study concludes: (a) the steps in the model (scheme) of mathematical power assessment may be used as a reference for assessing mathematical power, (b) test and non-test instruments are valid and reliable, and (c) prototypes of test and non-test instruments may be used as a measurement in mathematical power assessment.

Abstract

The study aims to determine differences in the achievement of students who pass the National Selection of State Universities (SNMPTN), the Selection of Joint Entrance State University (SBMPTN), and the Joint Entrance examination (UMB) at the Faculty of Teachers Training and Education (FKIP) at the University of Syiah Kuala. The study used descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The population in this study were all FKIP Unsyiah students entering university in 2013 that passed the SNMPTN, SBMPTN, and UMB. The population pool was as many as 1,038 students with 289 students selected for the sample using the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique. The One Way Anova Test was used for data analysis followed by a Least Significance Difference (LSD) test. Hypothesis in this research is there are differences in the achievement of FKIP Unsyiah students passed through SNMPTN, SBMPTN, and UMB. The results showed that the achievement of FKIP Unsyiah students who passed through the SBMPTN had average GPAs of 3.46, 3.32 for the SNMPTN and 3.36 for the UMB. Based on the results, it can be concluded that students who pass the SBMPTN had greater achievement than student who pass the SNMPTN and UMB.

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to identify the determinants that are closely associated with intrinsic interest among undergraduate accounting students. Descriptive statistical analysis and correlation analysis were applied in this study. The data was generated through questionnaire instruments using the seven points of the Likert scale. The study involved 136 samples of undergraduate accounting student at Universitas Padjadjaran. Reliability and Validity tests were conducted to make sure the items of questions are valid and the internal consistency are present. There are five independent variables in this research, namely intrinsic interest, extrinsic interest, self-efficacy, parental and peer influence, and anticipated conflict. Results indicate that extrinsic interest and self-efficacy are positively and significantly associated with the intrinsic interest of undergraduate accounting student. Meanwhile, parental and peer influence and anticipated conflict are negatively associated with the intrinsic interest of undergraduate accounting students. The magnitude of correlation for anticipated conflict is significant, however, parental and peer influence was found not significant

Abstract

Students’ blog in PBIG Unilak have been used to promote English skills during these two years. This mixed method study aimed to identify and describes the major problems faced by the students during the implementation of blogging based class. This study based its data from 168 students who attended 5 different classes based-blog. Employing a total sampling technique, the students were invited to fill up online questionnaire and interview. However, only 161 feedbacks can be processed. The analysis in this study reveals there are three major problems in blog-based class, which significantly contributed to an unproductive learning process atmosphere at PBIG Unilak namely: Lack of confidence in posting article and comments in the blog; Lack of IT skills and Cyberbullying.
