Abstract

Vocabulary is the key for learners to be able to communicate effectively in English. The research using Dora the Explorer cartoon movie to recognize English vocabulary mastery for children. This study is aimed to find out whether the use of Dora the Explorer cartoon movie can be facilitated in the learning of children’s selected vocabularies. The participants of this study were 16 students of PAUD MULIA. This research method employs descriptive qualitative data collection via observation, documentation, pre-test, and post-test. The instrument used was an oral test with flashcards. The results show that selected children's vocabulary increased significantly after watching the English cartoon movie. Finally, the use of the Dora the Explorer cartoon movie can help with specific vocabulary mastery. Aside from that, the children appear engaged and enthusiastic while learning. Abstract

Abstract The purpose of the research is to examine the ego defense mechanism used by the main character of Shutter Island movie. This thesis uses qualitative approaches to uncover the main character's trauma in Shutter Island Movie, Teddy. This researcher focused on Teddy's defense mechanism, which she used to cope with his trauma. This research uses qualitative approaches to uncover Teddy's trauma and defense mechanism, based on psychoanalysis theories developed by Sigmund Freud, especially related to trauma. Based on the findings, there are three causes of Teddy's trauma. His guilt for killing hundreds of defenseless soldiers during World War II and his regret not taking his wife Dolores to psychiatrists led to her murdering their three children, and Andrew had to kill his wife. His anguish for his family's demise drives him to depression. His id can't stand the pain of remembering the event, so he forms a defense mechanism to avoid the guilt. Abstract

The descriptive qualitative methodology is used in this study. Using the information gathered from test and post-test procedures, this strategy enables researchers to provide detailed explanations. The goal of the test is to demonstrate how students' vocabulary grows as a result of reading passages from their text books. This has a connection to the ZPD theory, according to which kids "enjoy experiencing the learning process and growing with the aid of others. 45 children from class 1 at Tunas Harum Bangsa Elementary School. The findings indicated that: 1) The first graders at Tunas Harum Bangsa Elementary School can improve their vocabulary mastery through the use of image media; and 2) Aspects of English vocabulary mastery that are emphasized through the use of image media, namely aspects of reading vocabulary and aspects of reciting vocabulary. Abstract

Sundanese is one of the largest regional languages in Indonesia, which has correlation to the character of speakers with the presence of undak usuk basa. This study analyzes the lyrics of a Sundanese song entitled Hakan Tah Ku Sia. From the title, it can be seen that there is something odd in the choice of language that is suitable for use among the general public, especially in the form of songs that will surely spread without limit, especially among the Sundanese. The purpose of this study is to describe the characteristics of the language used in the song lyrics of Hakan Tah Ku Sia, by Asep Balon, a young rapper from Bandung, to identify the themes and goals that the song lyricists want to convey, and to describe the functions that lie behind the variations in themes and variations in the purpose of creating song lyrics. Hakan Tah Ku Sia by Asep Balon, based on an analysis of social factors in the environment of singers and consumers. The data sources are the lyrics of the song Hakan Tah Ku sia, and Tik Tok and YouTube netizens' comments on the song. language rules because of the creator's desire to gain freedom of expression, poetic effects, beauty, tones of harmony between lyrics and melody, which make it easier for the audience to hear and enjoy the song. Abstract

Through a multimodal discourse analysis, this study investigates the use of audio-visual aids in English Foreign Language (EFL) education. The study looks into the multimodal characteristics of audio-visual aids, their interaction, and their impact on language acquisition. The study employs a qualitative research methodology and a variety of data collection methods, such as classroom observations, video recordings, and interviews with EFL teachers. The data is examined using multimodal discourse analysis approaches, with a focus on the incorporation of visuals, audio, gestures, and interactive aspects. The findings highlight the various multimodal characteristics of audio-visual aids and their importance in providing a rich and engaging learning environment. The study emphasizes the interactive aspect of audio-visual aids and their potential to improve language learning experiences by connecting language to real-life circumstances, adapting to different learning styles, and encouraging active engagement. There is also discussion of pedagogical strategies for effective integration and advice for dealing with issues related with audio-visual aids in EFL instruction. This study adds to the current body of knowledge on audio-visual aids in EFL instruction by giving empirical evidence of its multimodal nature and impact on language learning. The findings provide educators with insights into how to best use audio-visual aids and encourage effective language learning in the EFL classroom.

Abstract

Sexual violence can happen to anybody, including young people. This article discusses the unwelcome sexual advance experienced by the main character in Rules for Being a Girl novel named Marin. It aims to find out the factors and processes that help Marin to develop resilience and not fall into negative psychological condition of being depressed or traumatic after the sexual violence incident. The theory used to help analyze the development of resilience in Marin is Ungar et al. and Pessoa et al. The results of the analysis are that there are six factors and processes that enable Marin to develop resilience. They are the access to material resources, the supportive relationships, the understanding of her identity, the power and control, the feeling of social justice, and the desire to create a better environment for others. The analysis also shows that Marin is supported by her school that provides rooms to do meaningful and altruistic activities.

Abstract

Communication and interaction are the most difficult thing for autism. It is hard for them to open conversation and to recognize the situation around them. the most difficult They can't concentrate to the things around them. Just focus to the activity that they have started. Even when we call them it should be more often until they recognize it. They answer without any eye contact. this research describes how the autistic students communicate and interact with their teachers and their friends how the teacher gets engage with them., and this study analysed four children with autism: 14 years old, produce weak sound, he will speak if the teacher call him by focusing his face to the teacher, 9 years old used verbal language, he can hear but can't produce the sound, a boy has unstable emotional sometimes, and tries to get observer attention to his ability. The informants of this research are four teachers of SLBN Cileunyi, Bandung. This research is qualitative research, data collected by observation, interviews and documentation. Analysis of data used reduction of data, representing, conclusion and verification of data. The validity of data used by correlating the data from informants, observing the children behaviour, and the theory. The result of research shows that each of children are in the level of different autism. it is high, average and low. The guidance and full of care and warm heart is the most comfortable intervention for the autism. They brave to talk, to do the instruction, and to give the attention is depends on the approach of the teachers. Keywords: interaction, communication, autism, eye contact, concentrate

Abstract

The film Cruella is a comedy-crime film directed by Craig Gillespie in 2021. This film tells the story of a beautiful and creative woman named Estella who dreams of becoming a designer. On a circuitous journey, Estella met a famous designer of that time named Baroness von Hellman. They eventually achieved very good cooperation, until it reached a point where they were enemies with each other. The focus of this research is Baroness von Hellman's personality as the antagonist in the film. Researchers are interested in studying the representation of Baroness von Hellman's dark personality and how this personality can dominate her. This research uses the dark triad personality theory to examine Baroness von Hellman's actions which represent her dark personality. In the dark triad of personality, there are three categories of behavior that reflect a dark personality, namely Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data sourced from the film Cruella. The results of this research are that Baroness von Hellman's dark triad personality type which has the strongest influence is narcissism. This personality encourages acts of Machiavellianism and psychopathy to fulfill his obsessions. Meanwhile, the factors that cause a dark personality to be more dominant include physical, intelligence, family social strata, and environment. Abstract

This research is motivated by the use of conjunctions because this use is very important, because through the use of the right conjunction, the writing delivered will be easily understood by the reader. This research also aims to describe the form of conjunctions in the novel Sang Pemimpi by Andrea Hirata. The method used is qualitative research, the data collection technique in this research is reading technique and note-taking technique. In the results of the study we will find the form and function of conjunctions from the novel Sang Pemimpi by Andrea Hirata which can be used as learning because conjunctions have an important role in order to improve in stringing words to become a cohesive sentence so that it can be understood by the reader and teaching about conjunctions is needed to increase linguistic knowledge. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the form and function of nouns in the story of Sibontar Mudar of Bakkara. The type of research method used by the author is the literature method. Data collection techniques in this research are reading, recording, processing the content in the story. The source of data analysis that researchers use is the storybook "the story of sibontar mudar from bakkara". The results of this study can be concluded that in the form of nouns in the Sibontar Mudar story are basic nouns and derived nouns where the function of basic nouns is to show the names of people, objects, places, or concepts in general while the function of derived nouns shows nouns derived from verbs or adjectives. So that it can be used in the function of nouns in Sibontar Mudar stories is to indicate people, objects, places, or concepts in Sibontar Mudar stories that compose sentences, convey meaning, and enrich the diversity of language for good communication and help in broadening and deepening our understanding of the world around us, while providing flexibility and richer expression in language.
