Abstract

The world of coffee in Indonesia is entering its third wave, marked by the tendency for coffee drinkers to know more about the journey of coffee from being harvested to serving. This research aims to formulate a hypothetical model for the development of the Indonesian Coffee Community Cooperative (KOKOPI) within the framework of community development theory. In its activities, KOKOPI, as a community representation that marks the third wave in the development of the phenomenon of coffee-drinking culture in Indonesia, has implemented the seven elements of the community development theory. However, it is not very concrete in one element regarding the integration of these disparate concerns and paradoxes within the field. This research offers a proposal for digital platform based through the Kopikita App as an effort to improve and complete the elements that have not been concretely implemented. Using an interaction design approach, the Kopikita App is expected to encourage the development of the KOKOPI community so that it can facilitate the coffee ecosystem chain more thoroughly.

Abstract

To Developing rural ecotourism business requires actors  with good entrepreneurial capacity. The factors that cause the formation of entrepenership in individuals of ecotourism villages in Indonesia are not yet known. This  study aimed to analyze examine the internal factors that build entrepreneurial capacity in rural ecotourism. The research location was in four tourism villages in Bogor Regency, namely Ciasihan, Sirnajaya, Watesjaya and Pabuaran Villages Individuals who manage natural resources, innovate and take risks in running their business are entrepreneurs and vice versa. The number of respondents was 442. This number is calculated from four selected villages in Bogor regency where sampling uses purposive sampling which were divided into two groups, namely the entrepreneurial group of 240 respondents and the non-entrepreneurial group of 202 respondents . Primary data were obtained through filling out a list of questions by respondents using a closed-ended questionnaire by applying “the one score one indicator scoring system pattern”. Data analysis was carried out in a quantitative descriptive manner based on the average value of each indicator . To know the variables that have a significant effect on rural ecotourism entrepreneurship needed an analysis of the quality relationship between variables carried out using logistic regression analysis. The results showed that the significant variables that influenced rural ecotourism entrepreneurship are: 1) openness, 2) achievement motivation, 3) closed mindset, 4) innovative 5) efficient, 6) open mindset, and 7) locus of control. A qualitative approach is carried out by entering rural communities with observations and interviews, to find out the behavior and internal variables that exist in individual rural communities that form entrepreneurship. The largest Odds Ratio value was on the openness variable with a score of 3.242, which meant that if individuals in tourist villages had an openness attitude, they would tend to have entrepreneurship  3.242 times higher than those who did not have an openness attitude. Entrepreneurship in tourist villages is very important to create ecotourism businesses that can change rural resources into added value. Rural communities need to be understood fromtheir individual behavior as forming businesses in the field of rural ecotourism.

Abstract

This article is a study of transmigration in Sulawesi, Indonesia. Transmigration is the resettlement of transmigrants from a densely populated area to a less populated one. This article makes a valuable contribution to the field of literary studies by offering a contemporary analysis of transmigration in Indonesia, spanning from the Dutch colonial era to the present day. This article highlights that Indonesia is the most aggressive country in resettling about 7,936,6651 of its population to mainly the Outer Islands through transmigration programs from time to time. Among the settlement area which the focus of this study is the first documented Bugis state-sponsored migration in Baras of West Sulawesi. The transmigration in Baras was implemented by incorporating the so-called KTM (Kawasan Terpadu Mandiri - Self-Sufficient Integrated Area) and APPDT (Alokasi Penempatan Penduduk Transmigrasi - Special Allocation for Settled-Transmigration Area). The KTM then has turned into a frontier settlement, a frontier of agriculture, a frontier of an economy, and a frontier of politics. It is an open door for voluntary and involuntary transmigrants to access a resource.

Abstract

Smart city, both in terms of academic concepts and practical implementation, is a strategic discourse because it involves various disciplines. In this discourse, the relationship between technological infrastructure and human resources is increasingly dynamic and finds many variations at the local and national levels. This article examines the relevance of cultural elements within the Jakarta Smart City program. Specifically, it aims to explore the process of fostering smart people who align with the Betawi people's outlook on life, which can be or has been affirmed in Jakarta Smart City. The concept of smart people is widely discussed in conceptual debates and smart city practices. To conduct this study, a qualitative approach was employed, utilizing data collection methods such as interviews and focus group discussions. The findings of this research reveal that certain stigmas or stereotypes towards the Betawi people contradict their actual perspectives on life. However, these perspectives can potentially contribute to the formulation and implementation of smart community programs within the context of Jakarta Smart City. Common threads between the two include tolerance, religiosity, and education. Based on these findings, it is suggested that smart city policies need to be formulated in a more contextual and relevant manner to address the daily practices and needs of the community. In other words, smart city policies should be developed through a bottom-up approach, allowing for targeted implementation of community issues.

Abstract

This study seeks to examine and analyze the process and strategy of community development based on community media namely Angkringan in Bantul Yogyakarta, based on the conceptual scheme (Habitus) (Capital) + Field = Practice established by Pierre Bourdieu. Within this scheme, the community development means the dynamic of social practice of social agents in which case the combination of habitus, objective structure and a big set of other strategies make and bind such dynamic. This study employs a qualitative approach for which the data collection method combines some in-depth interviews, document studies, and literature studies. This investigation reveals that Angkringan develops its community by utilizing various types of media ranging from print media (bulletin), audio media (radio), audio visual media (Video and Community TV), to internet technology. Through the bulletin, Angkringan has been presenting various ideas and discourses on the necessity of considering various issues that hover the community. Angkringan also opens a kind of public space for community members to express complaints, making suggestions, criticizing and even litigating for anything that is taken as ‘problematic’. Radio Angkringan offers an opportunity for some interactive dialogues between citizens and village government in the community. Moreover, internet technology is the most recent and spectacular phase as a series of social practices launched by Angkringan in order to develop its community. Through internet media, Angkringan seeks to develop community in a wider domain by developing community networks throughout the archipelago and even the world.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the contestation of the village government communication system and the community communication system. The theory used was the Organizational Information Theory by Karl Weick. This study used a case study method. The results of this study showed that the village government faced the problem of suboptimal coastal management. The beach was only used as an area for sand mining. The village government then stipulated regulations in the form of developing the beach as a tourist destination. The regulations produced by the village government were rejected by the community. The community objected to this regulation because tourist destinations have the potential to create immoral places. The beach will be a place for young people to date. Tourist destinations were also not in accordance with the sociocultural environment of the community, in which there were many Islamic boarding schools around. The community wanted the tourist destination to be closed and the village government still wanted to continue the development of the tourist destination. The communication system of the village government and the community experienced a contestation in the development of Lon Malang beach as a tourist destination. The contestation on the communication system between the village government and the community continued onto the macrosystem (DPRD and regent government). The macrosystem mediated the communication system between the village government and the community. The macrosystem mediation resulted in an agreement whereby the village government was willing to fulfill some of the community's demands, and the village government was then able to develop Lon Malang Beach as a tourist destination until now.

Abstract

The development of Kampung Inggris in Tulungrejo Village, Pare, Kediri has attracted the wider community's attention. Social interaction between local communities and guest-students (language course participants) is an inevitable social process. Parsons's view of voluntaristic action illustrates that the actions taken by a person are based on the impulse of will, by heeding agreed values, ideas and norms. The qualitative mrthods are used to reveal in detail the voluntaristic action by local communities and guest-students. The results of this study indicate that interactions that exist between guest-students and the local community in Kampung Inggris Tulungrejo Village are relationships that influence each other, in which both parties get the benefit from this interaction whether they have the same purpose or not. The interaction between guest-students and the local community is the cooperation that is also established between the owners of the language course institutions with the government and local community of Kampung Inggris, Tulungrejo Village.
