Abstract

The purposes of this study are to develop, to test the feasibility, to describe the characteristic, and to test the students understanding about integrated science teaching material about air using Four Steps Teaching Material Development (4S TMD). The Research and Development method was use to develop integrated science teaching materials which is involving  all science perspectives that are not presented in junior high school science book. The air theme was chosen in this study since it can be explained using biology, chemistry, physics, and earth and space science  perspectives. Development the teaching materials was consists of selection, structuring, characterization, and reduction didactic steps. Based on the of feasibility test results, the teaching material is qualified in content, presentation, language, and graphic feasibility aspects. The characteristic of this teaching material expose the closeness theme with student daily lifes and its compatibility with National Books Standard. Based on the understanding test results, the teaching material is qualified in understanding aspect with high category. It can be concluded that the teaching material qualified to be used as supplement teaching material of science learning.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan, menguji kelayakan, memaparkan karakteristik, dan menguji keterpahaman bahan ajar IPA terpadu pada tema udara untuk siswa SMP kelas VII melalui Four Steps Teaching Material Development (4S TMD). Penelitian dengan metode Research and Development (R&D) ini dilatar belakangi oleh tidak tersedianya bahan ajar IPA SMP yang disajikan secara terpadu melalui tema udara. Pengembangan bahan ajar IPA terpadu tema udara terdiri dari tahap seleksi, strukturisasi, karakterisasi dan reduksi didaktik. Berdasarkan uji kelayakan, bahan ajar telah memenuhi aspek kelayakan isi, kelayakan penyajian, kelayakan bahasa dan kelayakan kegrafikan. Karakteristik bahan ajar meliputi kedekatan tema bahan ajar dengan siswa, dan kesesuaian bahan ajar dengan standar BSNP. Berdasarkan uji keterpahaman, bahan ajar telah memenuhi aspek keterpahaman dengan kategori tinggi. Hasil penelitian ini adalah bahan ajar IPA terpadu berupa buku dengan tema udara yang telah melewati empat tahap pengembangan yang dapat digunakan sebagai bahan ajar pendamping pembelajaran IPA.

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the effect of Predict Discuss Explain Observe Discuss Explain and Small Group Discussion strategies toward critical thinking skills and the influence of learning motivation toward critical thinking skills. This study was a quasi experiment with the non-equivalent pretest-posttest design. Data were analysed by inferential statistics of two way analysis of variance and regression analysis. The results showed that Predict Discuss Explain Observe Discuss Explain and Small Group Discussion strategies were influential toward critical thinking skills and the average of students critical thinking skills using Small Group Discussion strategy was better than those experiencing Predict Discuss Explain Observe Discuss Explain strategy. Furthermore, learning motivation were also influential toward critical thinking skills. Students having high learning motivation were better than students having low learning motivation. Regression analysis showed learning motivation and critical thinking skills have positive correlation. Influence of learning motivation toward critical thinking skill was about 6.4%.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh strategi Predict Discuss Explain Observe Discuss Explain dan Small Group Discussion terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis, dan pengaruh motivasi belajar terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi experiment menggunakan desain the non-equivalent pretest-posttest. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik inferensial Analisi Varian dua jalur dan analisis regresi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi Predict Discuss Explain Observe Discuss Explain dan Small Group Discussion berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis, rata-rata kemampuan berpikir krtis siswa yang menggunakan strategi Small Group Discussion lebih baik daripada siswa yang menggunakan strategi Predict Discuss Explain Observe Discuss Explain. Selain itu, motivasi belajar berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis. Rata-rata kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang mempunyai motivasi belajar tinggi lebih baik daripada siswa yang mempunyai motivasi belajar rendah. Berdasarkan analisis regresi, motivasi belajar dan kemampuan berpikir kritis memiliki hubungan yang positif. Motivasi belajar memberikan pengaruh sebesar 6,4% terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know improvement junior high school students’ critical thinking skills through integrated type on science learning and students’ respons. Using quasi-experimental methods, the study employed non-equivalent pre-test and post-test control group design. The research involved 68 seventh grade students using integrated type. Critical thinking test was used to collect data as pretest and posttest. The data showed that participant utilized integrated type in experimental groups performed significantly better than controls group (p>0.05) on critical thinking test. The result showed that integrated type in science learning can lead to learning gains that exceed those critical thinking in classes where mainly convensional science learning methods are used.Keterampilan berpikir kritis merupakan keterampilan berpikir dasar yang harus dimiliki oleh seseorang dalam menghadapi tantangan perkembangan IPTEK secara bijak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMP melalui pembelajaran IPA tipe integrated dan tanggapan siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain non-equivalent pretest and posttest control group. Subyek penelitian adalah 68 siswa kelas VII yang terbagi kedalam kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Pengukuran keterampilan berpikir kritis menggunakan tes pilihan ganda beralasan. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,52 dengan kategori sedang lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol sebesar 0,29 dengan kategori rendah.  Hasil uji t nilai N-Gain keterampilan berpikir kritis menghasilkan penolakan terhadap Ho (p>0.05). Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran terpadu tipe integrated konsep perubahan dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMP. Hampir keseluruhan siswa memberikan tanggapan positif terhadap pembelajaran terpadu tipe integrated.

Abstract

Multilayer porous composite have been produced through the heating process at temperature T=700oC for 2.5 h. Single layered porous composite was made with a varied mass percentage of from PEG polymer  1% to 10%. Double-layered porous composite were made by the arrangement of porosity (4:3)%, (4:2)% and (3:2)%, while the three-layers porous composite have an arrangement (4:3:2)%. Performance of multilayer porous composite for water filtration with pollutants of methylene blue 100 ppm was estimated from the absorbance spectrum. Rejection of methylene blue pollutants from single layered porous composite increases when the fraction of PEG polymer tend to be smaller in the matrix. Meanwhile, the double layered porous composite has a degradation of methylene blue pollutants are better than one layer. Triple layered porous composite have good performance for the water filtration where all the pollutants of methylene blue be able to be filtered.   Komposit pori berlapis telah dihasilkan dengan proses pemanasan pada temperatur T=700oC selama 2.5 jam. Komposit pori satu lapis dibuat dengan variasi persen massa polimer PEG 1% hingga 10%. Komposit pori dua lapis dibuat dengan susunan porositas (4:3)%, (4:2)% dan (3:2)%, sedangkan komposit pori tiga lapis memiliki susunan porositas (4:3:2)%. Kinerja komposit pori berlapis untuk filter air dengan polutan methylene blue 100 ppm diestimasi dari spektrum absorbansi. Rejeksi polutan methylene blue dari komposit pori satu lapis meningkat saat fraksi polimer PEG cenderung lebih kecil dalam matrik komposit. Sedangkan, komposit pori dua lapis memiliki kemampuan untuk degradasi polutan methylene blue yang lebih baik dari satu lapis. Komposit pori tiga lapis memiliki kinerja yang baik untuk filter air dimana seluruh polutan methylene blue mampu disaring.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of Inquiry Based Learningon the reasoning ability of grade 7 students about heat concept. This study is a quasi-experimental research design with non-equivalent post-test only controls group design. Two groups of seventh grade students were included as samples, which receive the experimental class of Inquiry Based Learning treatment while the other group acted as a control group who received the learning process in accordance with the applicable provisions of the curriculum. The data collected in this study is the students reasoning ability which obtained from the test of reasoning ability. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and statistical parametric t-test. Results of independet research shows that there are significant differences in reasoning abilities between the experimental class and control class. In this research, the experiment class perform more better reasoning skills than the control class.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh Inquiry Based Learning terhadap kemampuan penalaran siswa kelas VII pada materi Kalor. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu dengan rancangan non-equivalent post-test only control group design.  Dua kelompok siswa kelas VII  dilibatkan sebagai sampel penelitian, dimana kelas eksperimen menerima perlakuan Inquiry Based Learning sementara kelompok lainnya bertindak sebagai kelas kontrol yang menerima proses pembelajaran sesuai dengan ketentuan kurikulum yang berlaku di sekolah tempat penelitian dilaksanakan. Data yang dikumpulkan dalam penelitian ini adalah kemampuan penalaran siswa yang diperoleh dari hasil tes kemampuan penalaran. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan statistik parametrik Independent t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan penalaran yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol Kelas eksperimen menunjukkan kemampuan penalaran yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol.

Abstract

In the advanced and modern era, technological sophistication led to learning which initially runs, in which teachers and students meet each other and communicate in the classroom, can be implemented through of information technology. Along with the development of information, where books and teachers who initially as a primary source of learning, are now beginning to experience growth from the internet. Mobile learning defined as mobile devices that are used in the learning process. The wave course is one of subject that must be taken by students of physics education in the third semester. This course emphasizes the concepts of wave were reviewed mathematically and the phenomenon that occurs in everyday life. Mobile learning developed in this study in the form of electronic teaching materials on subjects of waves. The aim of this study was to develop electronic teaching material in the form of mobile learning. The sample of this study is 80 students in the third semester students who are taking waves courses. The results show that mobile learning that has been developed has score 3.8 and included valid criteria. Pada era yang serba maju dan modern, kecanggihan teknologi menyebabkan pembelajaran yang awalnya berjalan satu arah, dimana guru dan siswa saling bertemu dan berkomunikasi di dalam kelas, dapat dilaksanakan melalui bantuan teknologi.informasi. Seiring dengan perkembangan informasi, buku dan guru yang awalnya sebagai sumber belajar utama, saat ini sudah mulai mengalami perkembangan dimana sumber belajar yang berasal dari internet sudah mulai sering dimanfaatkan dalam proses pembelajaran. Mobile larning didefinisikan sebagai perangkat mobile yang dipergunakan dalam proses belajar mengajar. Mata kuliah gelombang sendiri merupakan salah satu mata kuliah yang wajib ditempuh oleh mahasiswa program studi pendidikan fisika semester 3. Mata kuliah ini menekankan pada konsep gelombang yang ditinjau secara matematis dan fenomenanya yang terjadi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dalam bentuk bahan ajar elektronik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar elektronik dalam bentuk mobile learning. Adapun sampel dari penelitian ini adalah 80 mahasiswa semester 3 yang sedang menempuh mata kuliah gelombang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mobile learning yang sudah dikembangkan memiliki score validasi 3.8 dan termasuk dalam kriteria valid

Abstract

This study aimed to analyse prospective physics teachers’ feedback during the implementation of online peer-assessment in Teaching Physics in English course. Twenty prospective physics teachers participated in this study. They were familiar with the use of smart phone in their daily life. They tend to communicate using social media such as WhatsApp application. The students have practiced in using paper based peer-assessment in other courses, but they have not applied it in online method providing real time feedback and score. The implementation of online peer-assessment challenged the students to assess their peer objectively. The lecturers’ feedback influence students’ skills how to evaluate their peer performance. Several factors may influence the quality of students’ online peer-assessment such as students’ culture back ground, implementation of the online peer-assessment, and practicant’s performance.

Abstract

Carbon nanoparticles (C-Dots) were synthesized using citric acid and urea as carbon and fuel source, and combustion reaction methods. The absorption spectral and morphology particles of C-Dots were investigated. The morphology describes the synthesis of small (<1 μm) and monodispersedC-Dots. Thus, the C-Dots solutions has absorption spectral range of about 86% at visible light spectral. This study suggests that the as-prepared carbon nanoparticles (C-Dots) with particle size and absorption spectral tunability might be utilized as solar energy absorber material.Karbon nanopartikel (C-Dots) disintesis menggunakan asam sitrat dan urea sebagai sumber karbon dan bahan bakar, melalui reaksi pembakaran sederhana. Spektrum absorpsi dan morfologi partikel C-Dots diinvestigasi menggunakan UV-Vis Spectrometry dan analisis SEM. Hasil SEM menunjukan bahwa morfologi partikel C-Dots sangat kecil (<1 μm) dan seragam. Selain itu, larutan C-Dots memiliki spektrum absopsi pada rentang sekitar 86% pada daerah cahaya tampak. Hasil studi ini menunjukan bahwa karbon nanopartikel (C-Dots) dengan ukuran partikel dan spektrum absorpsi yang dapat diatur, sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai material penyerap sinar matahari.

Abstract

Hasil belajar mata kuliah optik selama semester gasal 2005/2006 kurang menunjukkan capaian yang maksimal, mahasiswa masihkurang menunjukkan sikap aktif dan mandiri dalam belajar. Sejumlah temuan mengindikasikan bahwa mahasiswa malas mengerjakantugas dan tidak mempersiapkan diri menghadapi perkuliahan. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi tersebut peneliti berupaya untukmeningkatkan mutu pembelajaran agar dapat menumbuhkan kemauan mahasiswa untuk belajar mandiri dan aktif di kelassehingga dapat meningkatkan capaian hasil belajar mata kuliah optik. Model pembelajaran Self Regulated Learning paling sesuaiuntuk menyelesaikan permasalahan ini karena model ini memberi kesempatan mahasiswa untuk mengeksplorasi diri danmengarahkan ma-hasiswa untuk belajar secara mandiri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian kebebasan memilihteman dalam kelompok dan memilih pola belajar sesuai dengan minatnya ternyata memberi kenyamanan belajar dan motivasiberkompetisi yang positif sehingga capaian belajarnya lebih baik. Learning achievement of optics subject during odd semester of 2005/2006 showed that students achievement was not maximal.The students were inactive and did not have self learning attitude. Several findings indicated that the students were lazy in doing theassignment and did not have preparation in facing the lesson. Based on the above evaluation, the researchers have an effort toincrease the quality of the lesson in order to grow students will to be active and have self learning attitude, which in turn canincrease their achievement on optics subject. Self Regulated Learning model is the most suitable model to be applied for solving theproblem. It is because this model gives students a chance to explore and direct themselves to be able to have self learning attitude.The result shows that the opportunity to choose friend in a group and learning pattern suitable with the students interest givestudents enjoyable learning and motivation to compete positively leading to get better achievement.

Abstract

Students of Physic Education of Universitas Negeri Semarang often find some difficulties to understand the material. During difficult times, students usually find references on the internet,ask a friend who already understand, or ask a senior friend. Mostly students have a device that can be used to access the internet. Online-course via discussion-forum can be used as a discussion facility when they find difficulties to understand. Online-course via discussion-forum developed with ADDIE development models that includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Online-course discussion forum contains the list of courses that can be accessed by students via internet through the website discussion.belajarfisika.web.id. Feasibility of online course discussion forum was measured through assessment sheets of feasibility test from validators and questionnaire responses from students. The results of the feasibility test from the validator and student responses indicate that criteria are eligible. Results of the questionnaire about students perceptions of learning through online course discussion forum show that Physic Education Students of Universitas Negeri Semarang have good perceptions of learning through online-course via discussion-forums.
