Abstract

Coffee trade barriers with major market countries encourage the Indonesian government to start organizing relationships with potential country, New Zealand. Indonesian government initiated several trade mission to strengthen countries economy connectivity, including coffee trade. Each year New Zealand imports coffee from Indonesia. However, the volume of Indonesian coffee exports to New Zealand has fluctuated greatly. Indonesia's coffee exports to New Zealand by quantity experienced 31% decline in 2019 than the previous year. That was the biggest decline over the past decade. The Indonesian government keep mobilizing diplomatic activities to promote their coffee commodity in New Zealand. Since 2020, Indonesian government considered coffee diplomacy activities that view coffee as commodity and culture at once. The regressive moment of Indonesia's coffee exports to New Zealand was finally resolved in 2021 and was still increasing in 2022. This study aims to examine the Indonesian government's diplomatic efforts in increasing coffee exports to New Zealand in 2020-2022. Researcher analyzed it qualitatively using the concept of coffee diplomacy which has dimensions of cultural diplomacy and economic diplomacy. This study found that Indonesian government's coffee diplomacy was carried out by conducting coffee as Indonesian culture and export commodity. The Indonesian government's coffee diplomacy during 2020-2022 was implemented by spreading the culture of drinking Indonesian coffee as an attraction that leads to opportunities to increase exports to New Zealand.

Abstract

Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) merupakan gerakan berhaluan ekstrimis yang menjadi ancaman bagi Amerika Serikat. Abstract

This study tries to discuss the economic interests of the Philippines towards China through the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. In reviewing this research, the researcher uses two concepts, namely: first, Donald E. Nuechterlein's concept of national interest, which explains that interests are a complex need of a country in relation to other countries that are outside its external environment. Second, the concept of Foreign Direct Investment, which explains that foreign direct investment can be a bridge to advance the economic growth of a country from foreign investors in the long term. The results of this study indicate that economic interests are prioritized by the Philippines against China, especially through the Belt and Road Initiative framework. This is indicated by encouraging an increase in the value of export-import trade and direct investment, so that it can encourage the realization of infrastructure which is the Philippines' main goal. Not only that, by implementing the grand strategy pivot to China, BRI's cooperation also brings various beneficial benefits to the Philippine economy, both from tourism, human diversity, as well as improving the existence and status of the country.

Abstract

Chennai was previously a wet city with many water distribution channels, rivers, reservoirs, and adequate drainage, but in 2019 faced a water crisis exacerbated by urbanization and extreme climate change. The severe clean water crisis made the Indian government announce that Chennai is a metropolitan city that should have the potential to become a water-resistant city, facing a water crisis. The clean water crisis is exacerbated by low rainfall, which has caused reservoir levels to drop so that the city does not have enough water reserves for Chennai residents' daily need. The Indian government has also begun to make various efforts to deal with the water crisis that has occurred in the city of Chennai. This study discusses the Indian government's local efforts that directly involve the community, such as the ‘Water Conservation Campaign’, and international efforts in dealing with this Chennai water crisis through international cooperation with the Netherlands, Denmark, and the United States. Keywords : Chennai, Climate Change, Indian Government, International Cooperation, Water Crisis

Abstract

This study examines the UK's roles in the climate regime during the pre- and post- Brexit era within the 2008-2021 temporal locus. This writing investigates the UK’s commitments implementation by adopting a leadership framework and scrutinizing its role in climate change as (i) an exemplary leader, (ii) funding, and (iii) a pusher. Referring to secondary data, it reveals that the UK is aiming for the global climate leader title post-Brexit, which exemplifies the role-learning process. This study concludes that the UK shifted its auxiliary role of climate leader to a more central position in its role set, reinforcing its master roles of responsible great power and leader of the global climate regime. The UK provides several modes of leadership to show its commitment towards climate regime, namely (a) unilateral leadership by establishing good examples of climate policy, (b) assisting other climate-vulnerable countries on the accessibility of climate funds by acting as a structural leader, and (c) giving the image as a robust actor with a timely response to climate issues by its pusher roles adapted from problem-solving leadership. Abstract

This research aims to describe how public opinion determines the Indonesian government's public diplomacy efforts in responding to the Malaysian protest issue related to the sinking ship regulation using a qualitative descriptive method. The policy of sinking ships implemented by Indonesia on Malaysian fishing boats crossing Indonesian waters has drawn criticism from the Malaysian public who consider the sinking to be an act of unilateral confrontation from the Indonesian government. As a result, tensions arise in Indonesia-Malaysia relations, which require responsive efforts from Indonesia to defuse tensions between the two countries. Therefore, this study uses the concept of public opinion in foreign policy by analyzing how public opinion determines Indonesia's public diplomacy efforts in responding to Malaysian public opinion. This study finds the answer that public diplomacy carried out by the Indonesian government is the government's response to Malaysian public opinion.
