Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of field grass and lamtoro gung leaves on the feed consumption of local hare male. The experiment using completely randomized design (CRD), with five treatments and four replications. The result showed that with using field grass and lamtoro gung leaves would significant effect on the carcass weight. Key words : Erictolagus cuniculus, local hare male, field grass, lamtoro gung leaves, carcass weight.

Abstract

This study aims to measure the diversity of benthic macroinvertebrate in Rungan river floodplains using artificial substrates from palm sugar fibres. Sampling of benthic macroinvertebrate using artificial substrates made from palm sugar fibres which were incubated in waters for 14 days. Benthic macroinvertebrate which colonize in artificial substrate includes 21 species were consist of 19 species of insects class, 1 species of class Oligochaeta, and 1 species was not identified. The diversity of benthic macroinvertebrate in Rungan river floodplains was high with Shannon index (H ') = 3.1482. Evenness index (E) = 0.7243 indicates that benthic macroinvertebrate communities are not dominated by a certain species. Benthic macroinvertebrate communities in Rungan river floodplains were in a healthy condition, so it can support ecological systems in these waters. Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the effect of additives EM4 and palm sugar on the characteristics of elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) silage. This research was designed using a 2 x 2 factorial experiment with completely randomized design. Results showed that the additives EM4 and palm sugar give a good influence in the characteristics of elephant grass silage include; smell, taste, color, and texture. There is no interaction between the use of additives EM4 and palm sugar in making of elephant grass silage. Key words : Elephant grass, silage, palm sugar , additives

Abstract

This study aims to determine the physical characteristics of silage at different mixture levels of cassava leaves (Manihot esculenta) and kumpai grass (Hymenachine ampleexicaulis). The research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with treatment A (Without a mixture of cassava leaves), B (Mixture of 10% Cassava Leaves and 90% Kumpai Grass), C (Mixture of 20% Cassava Leaves and 80% Kumpai Grass), D (Mixture of 30% Cassava leaves and 70% Kumpai Grass). The results showed mixture of cassava leaves and kumpai grass silage were influence the characteristic fragrance and no effect on the characteristics of flavor, color and texture of silage. A mixture of 20% cassava leaves and 80% kumpai grass showed the best fragrance with score 24.60 approached a perfect score (25). Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of price, age and income of consumers towards pork demand on the Traditional Market Kuala Kurun, districts Gunung Mas. The research data were analyzed using descriptive and correlational method. Results of this study, variable Pricing, Age and Income Consumer simultaneously significantly affect demand for pork in the Traditional Market Kuala Kurun, while partially variable pricing and variable age did not significantly affect demand for pork and variable income impact on the pork demand on Traditional Market Kuala Kurun Key words : Pork, price, consumption, income

Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of substitution of commercial feed with expired bread within a certain level on the performance of quail. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) and Analysis of Varian (ANOVA), if the obtained data showed significant differences then tested further using HSD test α = 5%. Fifty four (54) DOQ (day old quail) were grouped into three (3) treatments and six (6) replication, each replication, consisted of 3(three) DOQ. The treatments were P0 (complete feed or control), P1 (85% complete feed + 15% expired bread) and P2 (complete feed 70% + 30% expired bread). The feed were given twice a day with increasing portion every week while drink were given adlibitum and was carried out for 42 days. Results showed no signification differences on all parameters observed, those parameter are feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion and IOFC (income over feed cost). Giving expired bread at 15% and 30% within commercial feed, did not effect on feed intake, body weight gain and feed conversion. But the substitution of expired bread up to 30% within commercial feed can still be done with no negative effect on the performance of quail in addition, it can provide greater economic benefit. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the catfish gonad maturity level caught in a flooding swamp area of Rungan River in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan. The experiment was conducted in October 2013 to April 2014. The fish specimens were analyzed to determine the level of maturity of the gonads. Moreover, water quality was measured. Total fish caught was 353 fishes, with a percentage of 61% males and 39% females, and the total length of fish ranging from 12-29 cm and weight between 10-250 grams. Types of the catfish food were shrimp, insects and fish juvenile. Spawning peaks in gonad maturity level IV were in December 2013 and January 2014, with water depth from 4.03 to 6.5 meters, the average water temperature 26.9oC, pH 4.6 DO 3.4 mg/L and 27.6 cm water transparency. Abstract

This reseach aims to improve the usability of seaweed (Eucheuma cottoni) as raw material for carrageenan and to determine the influence of carrageenan to the organoleptic properties of catfish (Clarias gariepinus) sausage. The research benefit was an improve processing to obtain carrageenan from seaweed and optimally utilize of seaweed. This study was conducted four month at the Laboratory Processing of Fishery Product, Fisheries Department of Palangka Raya University. Data were collected based on observation of the organoleptic test, include color, flavor, texture and odor. Also based on chemical test which includes a test of moisture content, fat content and protein content. Based on the result of organoleptic test and the result of chemical test on catfish sausage, it can be conclude that the addition of carrageenan from seaweed powder did not affect the sensory quality (include color, flavor, texture and odor). The additional of carrageenan powder affect on the chemical quality that binds moisture and fat content and increase the gelatinization level of protein in catfish sausage.
