Abstract

This study analyzes the application of the prophetic leadership paradigm in madrasah educational institutions and its influence on teacher performance in Banten Province. Using a comparative qualitative method, the study was conducted in four leading madrasahs: MAN Insan Cendekia Serpong, MAN 2 Serang City, MAN 2 Pandeglang, and MAS Miftahul Huda Pasirnangka Tigaraksa. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results of the study indicate that prophetic leadership based on prophetic values (shiddiq, amanah, tabligh, and fathanah) is proven to be a key factor in improving the performance of madrasah teachers. The three dimensions of prophetic leadership—spiritual transcendence, humanity, and prophetic morals—are implemented with different patterns in each madrasah according to institutional characteristics. MAN IC Serpong stands out in professionalism and modern management systems; MAN 2 Serang City in participatory communication and moral-bureaucratic balance; MAN 2 Pandeglang in spirituality and religious culture. Meanwhile, MAS Miftahul Huda excels in sincerity and personal exemplary behavior. The principal's exemplary behavior is a dominant factor in fostering trust, loyalty, and intrinsic motivation among teachers, thereby improving lesson planning, innovative teaching methods, work discipline, and socio-religious involvement. This study recommends internalizing prophetic values in the madrasah management system and integrating them into the Islamic educational leadership training curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the Cilegon City Government regulation on the provision of regional allowances for madrasah educators, focusing on the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation, as well as its impact on teacher welfare and performance. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, involving sources from the Education Office, the Ministry of Religious Affairs Office, madrasah leaders, and teachers receiving regional allowances. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and review of related documents, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results show that the implementation of the regional allowance policy for madrasah teachers in Cilegon City is effective with recipient coverage reaching 92.9% of the total madrasah teachers. The main supporting factors include the political commitment of the regional head, the availability of an adequate budget of Rp 2.4 billion per year, good inter-agency coordination, and support from education stakeholders. Conversely, inhibiting factors include administrative and teacher data issues, delays in disbursement, limited coverage and amount of honorariums, and lack of socialization. This policy has a positive impact on teacher economic welfare, increases motivation and job satisfaction, and influences the quality of planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning, while encouraging teacher professional development. This study recommends the development of an integrated personnel information system, acceleration of the disbursement process, increasing the amount of honorariums and the scope of recipients, and intensifying program socialization so that policy implementation is more optimal and sustainable.

Abstract

The shift in the national education paradigm marked by the implementation of the Independent Curriculum demands the design of an Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum that is in line with current developments, but remains rooted in Islamic values. At the Junior High School (SMP) level, PAI not only serves as a means of transmitting religious knowledge but also as a medium for the formation of students' character and spirituality. This study aims to examine and design an Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum for junior high school level based on national regulations, Islamic education principles, and learning outcomes set out in the Independent Curriculum. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method through the collection and analysis of various relevant literature. The results show that the design of the PAI curriculum must include main components such as Learning Outcomes (CP), Learning Objectives (TP), Learning Objective Flow (ATP), and Teaching Modules. Each component is designed integratively to create contextual, flexible learning that focuses on strengthening students' noble character. Overall, this study provides a theoretical contribution to the development of an operational curriculum for Islamic Religious Education at the junior high school level.

Abstract

The escalating global ecological crisis demands solutions that transcend mere technical fixes, drawing instead on the profound synergy between sacred religious values and deeply rooted indigenous wisdom. This study, pioneering in its examination of the integration of Islamic ecotheology with the centuries-old ecological traditions of the Baduy community, crafts a groundbreaking environmental ethics model tailored for contemporary Indonesia. Utilizing a qualitative narrative-comparative research design, insights were dynamically gathered through an immersive mix of literature reviews, field observations, in-depth interviews, and meticulous documentation. Subsequent thematic analysis uncovers a powerful, harmonious alignment between core Islamic concepts—such as khalīfah (stewardship), amānah (trust), and mīzān (cosmic balance)—and the foundational Baduy principles of pikukuh karuhun (ancestral mandates), strict ecological taboos, and sacred forest conservation. Remarkably, both value systems independently champion a shared ethos of deep moral responsibility, voluntary simplicity, and an absolute rejection of environmental exploitation. By weaving these two worldviews together, this research produces a highly holistic environmental ethics model that bridges divine religious legitimacy with time-tested, practical indigenous conservation methods. Rather than treating faith and tradition as static relics, this integrated framework revitalizes them into active catalysts for deep ecological awareness. Ultimately, this newly forged model offers transformative strategic potential, providing an authentic and culturally resonant blueprint to revolutionize environmental education, reshape grassroots policy development, and drive sustainable community empowerment initiatives across the nation.

Abstract

This study analyzes the concept of Scientia Sacra in Seyyed Hossein Nasr's thought as an epistemological framework for addressing the modern ecological crisis by revitalizing Sufi wisdom. It is based on the assumption that the global environmental crisis is fundamentally an epistemological and spiritual crisis caused by the desacralization of knowledge and nature within secular modernity. The study employs the concepts of Scientia Sacra, Islamic ecotheology, the desacralization of knowledge, and Sufi wisdom, including dhikr, muraqabah, khalwah, wahdat al-wujud, and zuhd, as foundations for ecological consciousness. Using a qualitative philosophical-critical library research approach, the analysis examines Nasr’s major works, particularly Knowledge and the Sacred, Man and Nature, and Religion and the Order of Nature, supported by international literature on ecotheology, environmental philosophy, and ecological Sufism. The findings show that Scientia Sacra provides an epistemological paradigm integrating scientific, spiritual, and ethical dimensions in understanding the relationship between humanity and nature. Sufi wisdom functions as a practical mechanism for transforming ecological consciousness and environmental ethics, while the ecological crisis is traced to a reductionist scientific paradigm separating knowledge from transcendental values. Nevertheless, integrating sacred epistemology with modern scientific methodology remains challenging due to issues of scientific objectivity, cultural plurality, and empirical operationalization. The study recommends spiritually grounded ecological education, stronger dialogue between scientific and religious communities, environmentally oriented public policies incorporating sacred values, and the revitalization of Sufi practices to foster sustainable ecological consciousness and advance Islamic ecotheology and environmental philosophy.

Abstract

This study critically examines the influence of principals’ exemplary leadership on the formation of teacher character in Islamic junior secondary schools (madrasah thanawiyah) under the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Pandeglang Regency. Exemplary leadership is conceptualized as the embodiment of moral integrity, ethical conduct, and professional consistency, whereas teacher character is measured through indicators of integrity, professional ethics, discipline, responsibility, and spiritual commitment. Using a quantitative survey approach involving 34 principals and teachers, the study employed validated instruments that were tested through Exploratory Factor Analysis and Cronbach’s alpha reliability procedures. The findings reveal that principals’ exemplary leadership is rated highly, predominantly driven by moral and spiritual dimensions, while teacher character is rated very highly. A positive perception gap was identified, with teachers evaluating their principals more positively than principals evaluated themselves, suggesting strong moral legitimacy and symbolic authority attributed to school leaders. Challenges remain in the area of principals’ technical professionalism, which requires systematic enhancement. The study recommends integrative leadership development programs that combine ethical modeling with managerial competence. This research advances theoretical understanding of social learning processes in Islamic education, demonstrates the empirical role of moral leadership in shaping teacher character, and offers practical insights for policy formulation in strengthening madrasah leadership quality.

Abstract

This study examines the strategic role of Tanāzul Ḥaqq (voluntary relinquishment of rights) as a mechanism that enables Islamic banks to enhance competitiveness within the profit-sharing system. Islamic banks continue to face structural challenges due to competition with conventional institutions that offer fixed and predictable returns, particularly to corporate and institutional clients. This research aims to analyze the fiqh foundations, strategic benefits, and potential risks of Tanāzul Ḥaqq within the context of modern Islamic banking. This research employs a qualitative, library-based method, drawing on classical and contemporary fiqh literature, DSN-MUI fatwas, OJK regulations, Islamic banking reports, and relevant academic studies. A descriptive-analytical approach is applied to evaluate both the Sharīʿah basis and strategic implications of Tanāzul Ḥaqq. The study finds that Tanāzul Ḥaqq is permissible when the waived right has fully materialized, is voluntary, does not alter the essence of the contract, and avoids elements of gharar and riba-like manipulation. Strategically, Tanāzul Ḥaqq enhances product attractiveness, stabilizes bank income, increases operational flexibility, and strengthens customer loyalty. Nevertheless, it carries risks such as information asymmetry, bargaining power imbalance, and potential deviation from the principle of fairness. The effective application of Tanāzul Ḥaqq requires maximum transparency, strong risk governance, and proactive customer education to maintain Sharīʿah compliance and market competitiveness. Originality/Value: This study integrates fiqh analysis with strategic management perspectives, offering a comprehensive framework for implementing.

Abstract

Public transportation is a vital instrument for urban mobility and economic efficiency. In Palu, the government launched the Bus Trans Palu (BTP) service as mandated by Law No. 22 of 2009 to provide safe and inclusive transportation. From an Islamic Economic perspective, such provision serves as a form of government obligation to ensure the fulfillment of public needs (maslahah). This study aims to explore the socio-economic impacts of the Bus Trans Palu from the users' perspective, analyzed through the lens of Islamic Economics. This research utilizes a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 20 informants from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, including civil servants, students, and street vendors. The data were analyzed thematically and synthesized using Islamic economic principles, specifically Maslahah Mursalah (public interest) and Tawazun (balance). The results indicate that Bus Trans Palu provides significant social benefits by enhancing accessibility to education and work centers. It creates an egalitarian social space that fosters community interaction (ukhuwah). Economically, the service offers substantial cost efficiency, especially for low-income groups and students, allowing for household savings. Furthermore, the presence of bus stops has stimulated the real sector by creating opportunities for micro-entrepreneurs and informal traders. The implementation of Bus Trans Palu aligns with the concept of Maslahah Mursalah, as it reduces economic disparity through equitable access and supports sustainable urban living. This study recommends a single-fare integration system to further optimize economic justice for passengers requiring multiple transfers.

Abstract

Restorative justice studies have so far been developed mainly within the framework of modern positive law, while the potential of similar concepts in Islamic criminal law is often narrowly understood as a mechanism of retribution. In fact, Qisas and diyat embody a more comprehensive dimension of justice-oriented towards restoration. The purpose of this study is to analyse Qisas and diyat in Islamic criminal law through the perspective of legal psychology to prove the restorative justice character inherent in them. This study uses a normative legal research method, with a conceptual, theological-normative, and legal psychology approach, examining primary data in the form of the Qur'an and hadith, as well as secondary data sourced from relevant research through library research, to analyse the restorative character of Qisas and diyat. The results of this study indicate that Qisas and diyat not only function as instruments of punishment but also as mechanisms of recovery that acknowledge victims' suffering, encourage perpetrators' moral responsibility, and restore social and psychological balance. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of a legal psychology perspective into the examination of Qisas and diyat as restorative justice inherent in Islamic criminal law. This research is expected to enrich academic discourse and strengthen the relevance of Islamic criminal law in the discourse of modern restorative justice.
