The prevalence of corporate transgressions in Indonesia have brought the moral standards of business leaders into public domain. In light of these phenomena, an investigation into whether prospective business leaders of the country are predisposed to moral values is crucial. The purpose of this research was to ascertain the attitudes of the Indonesian future business leaders towards the existence of codes of ethics in business. A test was also assigned to scrutinize whether the degree of their social cynicism moderated that possible causal relationship. A survey was used as the primary method to collect the data. The sample involved first-year students from a business school at a private university in Indonesia. A total of 111 students involved in the survey. A majority of the students Results of the research showed majority of the respondents were generally supportive shown to have positive attitudes towards codes of ethics. The intrinsic religious orientation of the students also had a positive impact on the attitudes. This positive relationship, however, was mitigated by their negative views of people and social institutions. Managerial implications of the research findings are discussed and the directions of future similar research are outlined.

This research was conducted using event research methods. The sample for this study comes from 45 companies in the JII index. The analysis tool used is a regression with the SPSS. The descriptive statistic can be confirmed by calculating the standard deviation value. The result shows that the standard deviation range is 0.0002 to 0.03, so the research tool could be described as data obtained is suitable to the measurement variable. The conclusions explain that the events before and after the declaration of the Covid-19 outbreak as a national non-natural disaster have positive and a significant impact on the average abnormal return rate of stock activity and changes in trading volume activity.

Abstract

The inconsistent distribution of dividends is a unique phenomenon and it needs to be examined. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine ten predictors affecting dividend policy of the inconsistent distribution of dividends. This study used the purposive sampling method to analyze the data that were obtained from a total sample of 133 observation objects collected in the 19 real estates, property, and building construction companies listed on the IDX Between 2013 - 2019. Furthermore, the method used is hypotheses testing and statistical analysis tool used is the hierarchical multiple panel data regression with the Least Squares Dummy Variables. The results obtained from panel A are firm risk, financial leverage, and investment opportunity that affect the dividend policy. Meanwhile, the panel B results are company risk, financial leverage, investment opportunity, and previous dividend, although the previous dividend had no effect due to the different direction of influence. This study proves the determinants and relevance of the parametric statistical analysis in the inconsistent distribution of dividends. Moreover, it is useful for managerial practitioners to pay attention to predictors for increasing company performances and to ensure investors obtain optimal return of their dividend.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effects of corporate governance on company performance and dividends paid by the company. In developing countries where the protection system against public investors is still weak, corporate governance becomes important. This study uses a sample of manufacturing companies in three developing countries. i.e., Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. The variables that represent corporate governance are board characteristics and ownership structure. Board characteristics comprise board size, independent board, and board gender, while the ownership structure uses managerial ownership and institutional ownership. The results show that in Indonesia, corporate governance has no significant effect on company performance and dividends. In comparison, in Malaysia, the female board has a positive effect on both performance and dividends paid. Whereas in Thailand, institutional ownership has a negative effect both on performance and dividends paid. The results also consistently show that debt and company size have an effect on performance and dividends in the three countries.
