Abstract

This study aimed to determine whether the use of instructional props in direct instruction could enhance teachers’ motivation to teach at SMP Negeri 2 Kubu, Rokan Hilir Regency. The research question addressed in this study was whether the use of instructional props could increase teachers’ teaching motivation at SMP Negeri 2 Kubu. The study focused on improving teacher motivation in teaching through the use of instructional props. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Kubu, Rokan Hilir Regency, with 18 teachers serving as the research subjects. The teachers had heterogeneous levels of motivation and had not intensively used instructional props during the learning process. Based on the analysis and discussion of the data, it can be concluded that the use of instructional props effectively improved teachers’ motivation to teach. This was indicated by improvements in several aspects. In the first cycle, the principal’s role as a facilitator achieved a score of 25, equivalent to 63% of the assessed activity indicators. In the second cycle, this score increased significantly to 38, representing 95% achievement of all assessed aspects. In terms of teacher participation, in the first cycle, the score obtained from the implementation of the principal’s directives was 73, with an achievement percentage of 51%. In the second cycle, the level of participation increased to 74%, with a score of 106, indicating higher engagement compared to the first cycle. Furthermore, teachers’ teaching motivation in using instructional props showed a consistent increase. In the first cycle, the motivation level reached 64%, categorized as good, while in the second cycle it increased to 88%, categorized as very good. These findings indicate that the use of instructional props in direct learning effectively enhances teachers’ motivation to teach at SMP Negeri 2 Kubu, Rokan Hilir Regency.

Abstract

Based on classroom observations, several critical issues were identified, including the limited ability of Indonesian language teachers to design lesson plans (RPP), the use of learning devices merely as supplementary documents rather than as instructional necessities, and the fact that many teachers were unable to present lesson plans when requested because they had not prepared them. This study aimed to improve the competence of Indonesian language teachers in designing lesson plans (RPP) at SDN 015 Pagaran Tapah Darussalam through the task assignment method. The research employed a school action research design, with 12 Indonesian language teachers as the research subjects. The findings, derived from systematic analysis and discussion, indicate that the task assignment method effectively enhanced teachers’ ability to develop learning tools. This improvement was reflected in increased teacher engagement and acceptance of the intervention. Quantitatively, the percentage of teachers’ competence in preparing lesson plans increased from 56% in Cycle I to 79%

Abstract

The background of this study is the low learning outcomes in Social Sciences (IPS) at SD Negeri 010 Silikuan Hulu. This is characterized by the average student score of 64.34. Furthermore, the completeness of student learning outcomes is only 40.63%, representing only 13 out of 32 students. The low performance in this subject was attributed to several factors: (a) teachers lacking mastery of the subject matter; (b) teachers primarily using the lecture method; (c) teachers not utilizing instructional media; and (d) Social Sciences learning being predominantly teacher-centered. To address these problems, the researchers implemented improvements in learning through classroom action research, applying the Two Stay Two Stray cooperative learning model. This study was conducted over two cycles, with each cycle consisting of two meetings and one daily test. Data collection techniques included observation of student and teacher activities, as well as achievement tests. The results indicated that the application of the Two Stay Two Stray cooperative learning model can increase the activity of teachers and students, as well as students' learning outcomes in Social Sciences. This is supported by the following findings: (a) an increase in the activity of both teachers and students from the first cycle to the second cycle. Teacher activity increased from 61.60% in the first cycle to 81.25% in the second cycle, representing an increase of 19.65%. Student activity increased from 61.61% in the first cycle to 82.14% in the second cycle, with an increase of 20.53%; and (b) an increase in student learning outcomes from a baseline average of 64.34. In the first cycle, the average increased to 68.75, and in the second cycle, it further increased to 76.86.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the results of learning through the use of media folders. The subjects of the research were grade II students at SDN 009 Tanjung Palas. Improved learning outcomes were assessed in terms of four categories: absorption, the effectiveness of learning, mastery learning completeness (both individually and classically), and the accuracy of learning results. The instruments used for data collection were oral tests and written tests in the form of worksheets, administered after the learning process. Results showed that the absorption of learning outcomes averaged 83%, which is considered very good. Learning effectiveness was categorized as very effective, with an average of 70. The completeness of student learning outcomes presented was 100%. In addition, there was an increase in student thoroughness in each cycle: the first cycle (58.82%), the second cycle (70.59%), and the third cycle (88.24%). Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of media folders can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes.
