Abstract

The  comprehension of the mathematical concept students are still low of class XII IPA SMAN 14 Padang becomes problem which is background this research. Other problems that background this research is students tend to ask their friends compared to teachers in the classroom, but the students discussions no effective. One of the solutions that used to overcome such problem is by implementing The Power of Two. The purpose of this research is to know determine whether students comprehension of mathematical concepts by implementing strategies The Power Of Two is better than student comprehension of mathematical concepts with conventional learning class XII IPA SMAN 14 Padang. This research is experimental research with research design randomized on subject. The data analysis used was one way t test by using program MINITAB. Based on the calculation results obtained P-value = 0.001 is smaller than the significance level (α) = 0,05 so it can be concluded that the students comprehension of mathematical concepts using strategies The Power Of Two is better than the students comprehension of mathematical concepts with conventional learning class XII IPA SMAN 14 Padang.

Abstract

The research was based on low of students math concept comprehension at SMPN 23 Padang. The research is to aims determine students math concept comprehension with Hollywod Squares Review strategy better than students math concept comprehension with conventional learning. The research is experimental by using Random Sampling. Population is students in the class VII SMPN 23 Padang. The instrument used is examination with reliability 0,873. To test hypothesis used t-test one side with MINITAB, obtained P-Value 0,008 less than α = 0,05, so hypothesis received. In conclusion, students math concept comprehension with Hollywood Squares Review strategy better than students math concept comprehension with conventional learning.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of interest of the students to read the lessons that will be studied and the students comprehention of mathematical concepts are still low , causing the outcomes of mathematics are also low. This research aims to: 1 ) Knowing how to implement student learning activities with elaboration strategies methods includes Preview, Question,  Read, Reflect, Recite and Review ( PQ4R ) on mathematics class VIII SMP 2 Payakumbuh. 2) Determining whether the student with an comprehention of mathematical concepts with implementation strategies elaboration of the method include Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite and Review ( PQ4R ) more understand than conventional learning students in class VIII SMP 2 Payakumbuh. The type of this research is experimental research, the entire study population class VIII SMP 2 Payakumbuh. The sampling is randomly, selected VIII-D class as the experimental class and the control class is VIII-E class. Hypothesis test that used was T test. Form of the test used essay test with a reliability test is  = 0.72 , the meaning that test has high reliability. Based on the analysis of both,  have average that student’s understanding of mathematical concepts on the experimental class = 69.68, and average student’s understanding of mathematical concepts on control = 59.06. The hypothesis , derived P – value = 0.018 < ( 0.05 ) so the hypothesis is accepted. It concluded that students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying methods PQ4R better than students comprehention of mathematical concepts with conventional learning with 95% confidence level .

Abstract

This research is motivated by the students lack of motivation to learn that lead to an understanding of mathematical concepts eighth grade students is still low test scores and results from the 1st half of eighth grade math students SMPN 5 Padang academic year 2012/2013. The research aimed to determine whether students understanding of mathematical concepts by using cooperative learning model Round Robin is better than the students understanding of mathematical concepts using conventional teaching class VIII SMPN5 Padang and to determine whether the implementation of cooperative learning model Round Robin can increase students motivation. This type of research is experimental research, the design of randomized trials on the subject. The research instrument was the final test in the form of essay with a reliability test is , and the students learning motivation questionnaire. Hypothesis testing using the t test with the help of the parties MINITAB, obtained P-value of 0.002 is less than α of 0.05, the research hypothesis is accepted. It can be concluded that the students understanding of mathematical concepts by using cooperative learning model Round Robin is better than the students understanding of mathematical concepts by using conventional learning class VIII SMPN5 Padang. Questionnaire analysis results indicate that the learning model Round Robin can increase students motivation.

Abstract

Background of the research is the comprehension of mathematical concepts and low student activities. This research therefore aims to determine how students’ learning activities with the implementation of active learning strategies The  Power Of Two types and to determine whether students’ comprehension of mathematical concepts by applying active learning strategy types The Power Of Two is better than the students’ comprehension of mathematical concepts with the application of learning conventional class XII science student of SMAN 1 Lengayang school year 2013/2014. This type of research is experimental research. Population in this research is class XII science student of SMAN 1 Lengayang consisting of four classes. The  sampling technique is done randomly, which was selected as the sample classes are class XII science 1 as the experiments class and class XII science 2 as the control class. The instrument used in this study was the observation sheet and final test with indicator of comprehension of concept. Form of test used is  a form of essay with a reliability test = 0,8322. Hypothesis testing use a t-test with the help of the software MINITAB. Based on the analysis of the data found P-value=0,033 is less than = 0,05, then this hypothesis is accepted. Thus concluded that the students’ comprehension of mathematical concepts with application of active learning strategies types The Power Of Two is better than the students’ comprehension of mathematical concepts with coventional learning in class XII science SMAN 1 Lengayang kabupaten Pesisir Sealatan.

Abstract

The background of this research is the students’ comprehension of mathematic concept in XI IPA SMA Negeri 3 Padang school year 2012/2013.The problem can be solved by applying cooperative learning strategy type Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) in mathematic learning to increase their comprehension of mathematic concept. The aim of the research is to know that students’ comprehension of mathematic concept which is applied cooperative learning strategy type STAD much better than students’ comprehension of mathematic concept which is applied by conventional learning.This is an experiment research with all of students XI IPA in SMA Negeri 3 Padang as the population. From that population, XI IPA is chosen as experimental class and XI IPA 5 as control class. Then, final test is used to measure students’ comprehension of mathematic concept which has the indicators of comprehension of mathematic concept which has reliability of instrument, r11 = 0,81.One way Mann-Whitney test is used to test the hypothetic. Based on measurement, Z = -0, 02 was less from Z0,05 = 1,65. It is indicate the hypothetical of research is refused. So, it can be concluded that students’ comprehension of mathematic concept which is applied cooperative learning strategy type STAD is the same with students’ comprehension of mathematic concept which is applied conventional learning in XI IPA SMA Negeri 3 Padang school year 2012/2013.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the students understanding of mathematical concepts is low and less students are responsible for a given task . The research aims to determine whether students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying active learning types Group To Group better than the students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying conventional teaching eighth grade students MTsN 1 Lubuk Basung academic year 2013/2014 . This type of research is experimental research , with a random design on the subject. The research instrument is the final test to learn that contain indicators of understanding the concept .Based on the analysis of data obtained by the average value of the experimental class higher than the control class . Hypothesis testing using t . From the calculations, t = 1.80 is greater than  = 1,70, the hypothesis is accepted . Based on the hypothesis test results concluded that the students understanding of mathematical concepts that apply active learning types Group To Group better than the students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying conventional learning .

Abstract

The background of this reseach is understand of mathematical but the concept are still low. The purpose of the research to the learning to detemince whether the student understand of the concept mathematical with the application of SQ3R method more better than student to understand concepts of mathematical with convenstional learning MTsN eighth grade student in Tarusan. This type of research is experimental, the population of research is MTsN eight grude students have fine classes, class experimental VIII.A and the class control VIII.C, the from used essay testh with a reliability is r11 = 0,89. Based on the analysis of data bettwen two that class sample average the student understanding of about concept of mathematical is the class experimental = 66,14 and than the class control = 51,18, the results of hypothesis is = 0,000 more small than α = 0,05, so that the conclusion about students understanding of concept mathematical with the application of SQ3R method is better than student understanding of cencept mathematical with conventional learning with 95% contidece level.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of understanding of mathematical concepts class VIII SMPN 22 Padang 2013/2014 school year . This study aims to determine whether students understanding of mathematical concepts using techniques Spotlight accompanied quiz better than that using conventional learning and see how the development of students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying spotlight with a quiz on the class VIII SMPN 22 Padang . This type of research is the design of experimental studies Against Random Subjects . Instrument used was a quiz and test understanding of mathematical concepts in the form of essays with a reliability test r11 = 0.861 . The data analysis technique used is the one party t test with the help of MINITAB Software . Based on the average values obtained quizzes every meeting that the development of understanding of mathematical concepts SMP 22 eighth grade students has increased Padang . And test the hypotheses derived P-value = 0.024 < α = 0.05 , then the hypothesis in this study received the students understanding of mathematical concepts using techniques Spotlight accompanied quiz better than students understanding of mathematical concepts using conventional learning in class VIII SMPN 22 Padang 2013/2014 Academic Year .

Abstract

This research is motivated by the students understanding of mathematical concepts are still low, students are afraid to ask the teacher, and most students do not have textbooks. This study aims to determine whether students understanding of mathematical concepts with cooperative learning models Handout Think Pair Share with a better understanding of mathematical concepts than students with conventional learning. This type of research is experimental research, the design of randomized trials on the subject. The study population was a student of class VII Padang SMP 17 Academic Year 2012/2013 consisting of nine classes. Technique of random sampling, the sample is selected as the class as a class VII3 VII6 as experimental and control classes. The research instrument was a test of understanding of mathematical concepts. Form of test used is a form of essay with a reliability test is r_11 = 0.87. The data analysis technique used is the one party t test with MINITAB. Based on the analysis of the data found that the two classes are normally distributed and homogeneous samples at significance level α = 0.05. Hypothesis test results obtained P-value = 0.000 is less than α = 0.05, then the hypothesis in this study received. It can be concluded that the students understanding of mathematical concepts cooperative learning models Handout Think Pair Share with a better understanding of mathematical concepts than students with conventional learning.
