Abstract

Research on background by the student’s comprehension of mathematical concepts is low. The type of research is research experimental with design   random trials on the subject. Population is all student’s of class VIII that registration in the school year 2013/2014, while sample is student of class VIII B as experiment class and VIII C as control class. Instrument that use in research is final test in from of essays, with a reliability test 0,926. Based on result analysis data obtained by the average in learning of result student experiment calss that is 79,7 and control calss that is 66,95. From result of statistical test t obtained t cound = 2, 3244 and t table = 1,682, because t cound > t table, then hypothesis that proposed to accepted. So it was concluded about studen’s comprehension of mathematical concepts with the aplication of cooperative learning type student team achievement division (STAD) with topical review better than the student’s comprehension of mathematical concepts with conventional learning in class VIII SMPN 3 X Koto Singkarak.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the group learning is not optimal and the understanding of mathematic concept the class VII students of SMPN 1 Bayang Utara is low. One of the means for improving the students understanding of mathematic concept is applying the cooperative learning model with NHT type accompanied by quiz. The purposes of this research is to know: 1) how the development understanding of mathematic concept indicators by using this the NHT type accompanied by quiz the class VII of SMPN 1 Bayang Utara , 2) whether the understanding of mathematic concept by using this model is better than using the conventional learning the class VII students of SMPN 1 Bayang Utara. This is an experimental research with Random to Subject design. The population in this research is class VII students of SMPN 1 Bayang Utara of the year 2012/2013, consist of two classes. The sampling technique is total sampling made randomly for determining the samples. So, in VII1 class is selected as an experimental class and the VII2 class as a control. The instrument used valid and reliable tests for the understanding of mathematic concept in the form essay on the convidence interval of 95%. Based on the results of data analysis, the students undersanding mathematic concept  by applying NHT-type cooperative learning model with quiz is better than using the conventional learning the class VII students of SMPN I Bayang Utara of the year 2012/2013.

Abstract

Based on background knowledge of this research was understanding of mathematical concept still low and their habit was waiting the answer from their friend. This research is to determine whether students’ understanding of concept mathematics by using SQ3R methode better than students’ understanding of concept mathematics by using conventional strategy at VIIIA and VIIIC SMPN 10 Padang. Type of this research was experiment. Population of this research was students at VIIIA and VIIIC SMPN 10 Padang, and sample of this research was students class VIIIC as experimental class and VIIIA as control class. Post-Test was as instrumentation in this research, with reliability 0.991. From the data analysis get mean score from students’ achievement in experimental class was 84.85 that high rather than in control class that was 67.44. Data analysis was done by using hypothesis testing. Tcalculated= 6.03 and ttable= 1.70.  so hypothesis was acceptable. So, we can conclude that students’ understanding of concept mathematics that used Quiz Team methode better than conventional strategy at VIIIA and VIIIC Grade of SMPN 10 Padang.

Abstract

The research was motivated by the students’ comprehension of math concept are still low at SMPN 14 Padang. This research aims to determine the students’ comprehension of math concept that apply Two Stay Two Stray better than students’ comprehension of math concept that apply conventional learning in class VIII SMPN 14 Padang. The type of research is experimental by using Randomized Control Group Only Design. The data analysis technique used is T-Test one part the help of MINITAB. The result of hypothesis test obtained P-Value = 0,011 is less than α = 0,05, then the hypothesis in this research received. In conclusion, students’ comprehension of math concept that apply Two Stay Two Stray type better than students’ comprehension of math concept that apply conventional learning.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the students understanding of mathematical concepts are still low. This study aims to determine whether students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying active learning strategy Type True Or False Statement better than students understanding of mathematical concepts with the application of conventional learning. This type of research is experimental, the research design pre eksperimental design : static group comparison. The population in this research is the students in grade VIII SMPN 27 Padang. Sampling was done by purposive sampling, with the consideration that both classes have an average that is similar to the decision classes VIII.2as eksperimental and VIII.3 as control. The instruments that are used in this study are students’ activity observation sheet and essay test. Based on the result of the study, it is found that increasing percentage in each meeting. Results of data analysis that the two classes are normally distributed and homogeneous samples and t test results obtained P-value=0,003 is less than α=0,05, so that hypothesis is approved. It can be concluded that the students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying active learning strategy Type True Or False Statement VIII.2 grade better than students understanding of mathematical concepts by applying conventional learning models VIII.3 grade SMP 27 Padang

Abstract

The background of this research is about lower of students’ mathematics concept comprehension at eighth grade students of SMPN 14 Padang. The purposes of this research is to see the effect of using active learning tipe Learning Starts With a Question strategy was better than students’ concept comprehension which using konvensional learning toward students’ at eighth grade SMPN 14 Padang and to see the effectiveness of using active learning type Learning Starts With a Question strategy in mathematics study at eight grade students’ SMPN 14 Padang. The researcher got validity of the data from table distribution to experimental class. The researcher mannered the result of the data by using Mann-Whitney test then used the result post test which using indicator of concept comprehension MINITAB also help the researcher to analyse the data, the researcher got probabilitas=0.0285, is smaller than 0,05. In conclusion, the students’ mathematics concept comprehension by using active learning type Learning Starts With a Question strategy is better than using konvensional learning in students’ mathematics concept.

Abstract

The background of this research was the low mathematic concept comprehension of the students; also students prefer to ask to their friends instead to ask to their teachers. The purpose of this research was to know the improvement of mathematic concept of the students with application of practice-rehearsal pairs type of active learning strategy in mathematics learning of grade VIII of MTsTI Batang Kabung Padang and to know whether students mathematic concept comprehension was better with the application of practice-rehearsal pairs type than students mathematic comprehension with application of conventional learning of grade VIII of MTsTI Batang Kabung Padang. The type of the research was experimental research, with random research planning toward the students. The population of the research was grade of MTsTI Batang Kabung students in academic year 2013/2014. The technique of sampling was random selection, and class VIIIc was chosen as experiment class and class VIIId as control class. The instrument of the research was final test of mathematic concept comprehension in form of essay with reliability was 0.92. The technique of data analysis was using test t one head with help of MINITAB. Based on the result of data analysis known that both sample distributed normally and homogeneity. The result of hypothesis resulting P-value was 0.044 which mean less than α = 0.05, so the research hypothesis is accepted. It can be concluded that students’ mathematic concept comprehension using practice-rehearsal type of active strategy was better than students’ mathematic concept comprehension than conventional learning with 95% level of trust.

Abstract

The research was due to the fact that most students were not used to have a discussion and share knowledge with the peers. Moreover, they had lack of understanding mathematical concept which could be seen from the mathematic result of grade VII students SMPN 9 Sijunjung. The research aimed at describing students activities and understanding how far the students of grade VIII SMPN 9 understood the mathematic concept using corporate identity technique with a quiz, whether it was better than conventional learning. The design was experimental research using random sampling technique. The population was students of grade VIII SMPN 9 Sijunjung. Based on the result of random sampling technique, grade VIII2 was chosen as the experimental group, while the grade VIII3 as the control group. The instrument used was observation sheet and essay mathematic test. The reliability of the test was . Based on the analysis of observation sheet, there was an improvement of students activities during the teaching and learning process and the data analysis obtained was distributed homogeny and normal. The technique analysis data used was one way t test. Based on the analysis of hypothesis using MINITAB, it was obtained that the p-value was less than . Therefore, it can be concluded the student understanding of mathematical concept using corporate identity technique with a quiz was better than conventional learning at grade VIII SMPN 9 Sijunjung.

Abstract

The background of this research by students learning motivation and comprehension of mathematical concept was low. It could be seen from students’demotivated in learning mathematic and also most of them did not do their exercises. One way to solve this problem was by implementing active learning strategy of Learning Tournament type. The purpose of this rese was by implementing active learning strategy of Learning Tournament type. The purpose of this research was answering the research question whether implementing active learning strategy of Learning Tournament type gave better improvement in students’ learning motivation and students’ comprehension of mathematical concept than by using conventional learning strategy. This strategy applied to student Grade VIII SMPN 5 Koto XI Tarusan. The type of this research was experimental research. The population in this research was the students grade VIII SMPN 5 Koto XI Tarusan year 2013/2014. The technique in choosing research sample was random sampling technique, which chose class VIII.3 as an experimental class VIII.1 as a control class. The instrument in this research was questionnaire and final tes. Questioner was used to see the differentiation of motivation score in the questioner which given in the beginning of the research and in questioner which given in the end of the research. Then, researcher also used final test by using comprehension of the concept as the indicator. The technique of data analysis was t test which was analyzed by using MINITAB. Based on the data analysis, it was known that two sample had normal disrtributions and homogenizes and hypothesis test shown P-value was last them <𝛼. So, hypothesis could be accepted. In conclusion, comprehension of mathematic concept of students Grade VIII SMPN 5 Koto XI Tarusan which was taught by using active learning strategy og Learning Tournament type got better improvement than their comprehension of mathematical concept by using conventional.

Abstract

This research is motivated by low ability students mathematical communication skills. Communication skills requires students to state and interpret mathematical ideas orraly, in writing, or mendemonstrasi. Therefore the ability to communicate in mathematics became guidance. This study aims to determine whether the ability of students to use mathematical communication active type peer learning strategies lesson with mind maps better than that using conventional learning in class VIII SMPN 30 Padang. This type of research is experimental research, with the deseign of random design on the subject. Population in this study were all students of class VIII SMPN 30 Padang. The sampling technique is random sampling. Reseach instuments essai is a test. The data analisys which  = 2.02 is greather  it can be concluded that students mathematical communication skills of students who learning strategies type Peer Lesson with mind maps better than using the conventional learning in class VIII SMPN 30 Padang with the level of confidence 95%.
