Abstract

This research was motivated by the lack of understanding of students’ mathematical concepts and students are not accustomed to propose their ideas. This study aims to determine whether students’ understanding of mathematical concepts by applying active learning strategies Giving Question and Getting Answer (GQGA) type accompanied quiz is better than students’ understanding of mathematical concepts using conventional learning in class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Ampek Nagari Agam. This type of research is an experimental research based on the Subject with a Random design. The study population was a class VIII student SMP Negeri 1 Ampek Nagari Agam consisting of three classes. The sample was VIII1 grade students as the experimental class and VIII3 the control class. The research instrument was a quiz and final test in the form of essays. The data obtained were analyzed using t-test of the parties with the help of software MINITAB. Based on the test results obtained by the hypothesis P-value of 0.005 , then the hypothesis in this study received. It can be concluded that the students’ understanding of mathematical concepts by applying active learning strategies Giving Question and Getting Answer (GQGA) type quiz is better than students’ understanding of mathematical concepts applied on conventional learning in class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Ampek Nagari Agam.

Abstract

Based on background knowledge of this research was understanding of mathematical concept still low and their habit was waiting the answer from their friend. This research is to determine whether students’ understanding of concept mathematics by using Quiz Team strategy better than students’ understanding of concept mathematics by using conventional strategy at VIII SMP N 4 Koto Baru. Type of this research was experiment. Population of this research was students at VIII SMP N 4 Koto Baru, and sample of this research was students class VIII.B as experimental class and VIII.A as control class. Post-Test was as instrumentation in this research, with reliability 0.93. From the data analysis get mean score from students’ achievement in experimental class was 56.58 that high rather than in control class that was 36.36. Data analysis was done by using hypothesis testing. Tcalculated= 2.88 and ttable= 1.68.  so hypothesis was acceptable. So, we can conclude that students’ understanding of concept mathematics that used Quiz Team strategy better than conventional strategy at VIII Grade of SMP N 4 Koto Baru.

Abstract

The background of this research is the students’ mathematical concept understanding that is still low. The purposes of research are to know how the development of the students’ mathematical concept understanding is and to know whether the students’ mathematical concept understanding by applying the cooperative learning model of Think Pair Share type with quiz is better than that by using the conventional learning. The type of research is an experimental research with Random to Subject design. The population of research is the grade-IX students of SMPN 7 Pariaman of the year 2013/2014. The technique of sampling is applied randomly and the chosen samples are IX.2 as an experimental class and IX as a control class. The instruments used in this research are quiz and final tests of mathematical concept understanding. The form of tests used is essay and the test reliability is 0.89. The technique of data analysis is t-test of one side with MINITAB. Based on the analysis of data, it is known that both sample classes are distributed normally and homogenous at α level of 0.05. The hypothesis tests are indicated that P-value is similar to 0.028, meaning less than 0.05, so that the hypothesis of this research is accepted. Then, it can be summarized that the students’ mathematical concept understanding by applying the model of cooperative learning of Think Pair Share type with questionnaires is better than that by using the conventional learning with trust level of 95%. Quiz look at the development of indikators to classify objects according to the nature of certain properties cantained in the quiz I, III, and IV quiz. Quizzes I progress indikator is 86,22%, quiz III percentage progress indikator is 88,89% and the percentage development indikator quiz IV 90,97%.

Abstract

This reseach has background by understanding of concept so that student can’t contrutioning to their own concept understanding and more of the student can’t aplicate the concept problem solving which is they want. This research has purpose for to know the impact of active learning strategy type Guided Note Taking to student mathematic concept understanding on the subject aljabar factor. Kind of this research is experiment with plan random on subyek. The population is VIII SMPN 1 X Koto Singkarak and sample it VIIIC as experiment class and VIIIB as control class. This research use instrument is essay, that test about understanding of mathematical concepts student consist of 9 item  with reliability test  0,865. By virtue of data analysis get average of result learning of student experiment class better than control class. Hypothesis use test t-one way. Result thitung = 2,7248 and  ttabel = 1,6795, because thitung > ttabel so hypothesis acceptable. So the conclusion is learning with active learning type Guided Note Taking better than conventional learning at VIII SMPN 1 X Koto Singkarak

Abstract

This research is motivated by the students comprehension of mathematics concepts are still low. Learning process tends to take place in one direction. Less resource book. Students do not what to think of doing exercises and would rather wait for an answer from a friend who has more capacity. Based on observations in class VIII SMPN1 Padang Sago Pariaman found in the working practice so that studentsare not accustomedto discuss individual students are more likely to be individual in the study. This study aims to determine whether students comprehension of mathematics concepts by applying active learning strategies Peer Lesson type better than student comprehension of mathematics concepts by applying conventional learning in class VIII SMPN1 Padang Sago Pariaman 2012/2013. This type of researchis is experimental research design randomized trials on the subject. The population in this study were all students of class VIII to class VIII.3 sample as the experimental class and the control class as a class VIII.1. Instrument in this study is a test of comprehension of mathematics concepts in the form of essays with a reliability test is r_11 = 0.784. The data analysis technique used is the t-test with Minitab . Based on the test results obtained by the hypothesis P - value = 0.007 is smaller than the specified significance level of 0.05 . Thus, students comprehension of mathematics concepts by applying active learning strategies Peer Lesson type better than conventional learning in class VIII SMPN1 Padang Sago Pariaman at the level of 95 %

Abstract

This research is done due to the fact that most of students do not dare to ask about learning material, in oral ways, which is not understood so that students become less active and lack of mastering mathematical concept. This study is aimed to determine how students learning activities are done and to find out whether the understanding of students’ mathematical concept become better by using active learning strategy “Giving Questions and Getting Answers (GQGA)” than the conventional ones. The type of this research is experimental research; with the design of the research is Randomized Subject. The population of this research is students of grade XII Social Science at SMAN 16 Padang which consist of four classes. In determining the experimental class and the control class, researcher chooses it randomly, so that XII Social Science 1 is chosen as experimental class, and XII Social Science 2 as control class. The instruments that are used in this study are students’ activity observation sheet and the test of students’ understanding for mathematical concept. Based on the result of the study, it is found that implementing active learning strategy “Giving Questions and Getting Answers (GQGA) have increasing percentage in each meeting. The result of analysis data find out that two sample classes   normal distributed and homogenous at the level of α = 0,05 and the result of t test is obtained P-value = 0,020, smaller than α = 0,05, so that hypothesis is approved.

Abstract

Students’ understanding of mathematis concept in mathematic lesson become the background of this research, many students don’t yet real material of the lesson at home and the students are least responsible toword assignment that are gave by the teacher. The purpose of this research is to know: 1) Resitasi method is effective that is used in mathematic lesson, and 2) Students’ understanding of mathematic concept at class of XI IPA SMAN 2 Lengayang which use resitasi method is more  good than students’ understanding of mathematis concept by using convensional learning. Based Questionnaires that is gave for 26 students’, so it can be seen that resitasi method is verry effective which is used in mathematic lesson, because the analysis of quetionnaires are very effective criteria 77,88%. To see students’ understanding of mathematis concept is done hyphotesis test by using uji t one step. In bnefly, it is got hyphotesis are 0,043 with P-value . In summary, Students’ understanding of mathematis concept uses resitasi method which is more good than students’ understanding of mathematis concept by applying convensional learning.

Abstract

Based on background knowledge of this research was students’ ability in solving  mathematical problem that still low, one way to solve this problem was applied problem solving strategy Wankat and Oreovocz. The purpose of this research was to know 1) whether students’ ability to solve the problem by using problem solving strategy Wankat and Oreovocz better than conventional strategy, 2) how the students attitude through learning activities by using problem solving strategy Wankat and Oreovocz. Type of this research was experiment. Population of this research was students at X Grade of SMK N 1 Pulau Punjung. In choosing sample used randomly technique.  X TKJ 2 as experimental class and X TKJ 1 as control class. Ability of problem solving test and questionaire as instrumentation in this research with r11= 0.73. Data analysis was done by using Mann Withney test through MINITAB Sofware. From the data analysis get  with P-value = 0.0076. So, we can conclude that students’ ability in problem solving of mathematical concept by using Wankat and Oreovocz better than conventional strategy at X Grade of SMK N 1 Pulau Punjung, based on questionare, students’ attitude in learning activities by using problem solving strategy Wankat and Oreovocz was better.

Abstract

This research was conducted based on the fact that the students’ understanding on mathematics concept was still low and the students prefer to study in group, but the result is not appropriate with expectation. This research was aimed at revealing whether the use of cooperative learning Numbered Heads technique could improve the second year students’ understanding on mathematics concept better than that of conventional learning. Type of this research is experimental research which using Random subject as research design. The populations in this study were eighth grade students of SMP 28 Padang academic year 2013/2014. By using technique of Random sampling, the sample was selected the class VIII4 as experimental class and VIII6 as control class. This study used post-test as instrument to measure the students’ understanding mathematical concepts. The form of post-test is essay with a reliability r11 = 0,87 . The data analysis technique used t –test by using MINITAB. Based on the analysis of the data found that the two classes are normally distributed and homogeneous samples at the level of 95 % with α = 0.05 . Hypothesis test results obtained P - value equal to 0.015 means less than α = 0.05 , then the hypothesis in this study received so it can be concluded that the students understanding of mathematical concepts by using cooperative learning Numbered Heads technique is better than student understanding of mathematical concepts by conventional teaching class VIII SMP 28 Padang

Abstract

Everyone Is A Teacher Here (ETH) is a learning strategy that enables students to be expected to increase students understanding of the concept of SMAN 1 Lembah Melintang are low. The purpose of this research was to find out whether the students understanding of mathematical concept by applying active learning strategy ETH type it joined handout was better than applying conventional learning. Thish research is experimental research. The research population was X grade students of SMAN 1 Lembah Melintang West Pasaman district and samples were X3 as experimental class, X6 as control class. The instrument which was used in this research was essay test with index of reliability = 0,96. Based on the result of data analysis concerning with student’s understanding of mathematical concept to both of classes. It was found that the mean score of experimental class = 76,10 and the mean score of control class = 63,53. The hypothesis testing shown that tcalculated =3.84 is low than t(0,95)(75) = 1,67, it could be concluded that the hypothesis was accepted. In other word the student’s understanding of mathematical concept by applying active learning strategy ETH type it joined handout was better than conventional learning at confidence interval 95%.
