Abstract

This study aims to know deeply about BACA: Documentation and Information Journal published during 2015-2019. The aspects of the study are the distribution of articles, number of pages, authorship patterns, citation numbers, and form of visualization. This bibliometric research obtained data in http://jurnalbaca.pdii.lipi.go.id, which was then processed and analyzed using Ms. Excel, Publish or Perish (PoP) and VOSviewer application. The study showed that this journal has a frequency of publication 2 times a year (June and December) and has published 71 articles during 2015-2019, with 30 single authors (42.25%) and 41 collaborative authors (57.75). The number of writers who contributed during the period was 146 people both single and collaborative, and in 2019 there were 20 article titles with the largest number of authors 46 people (31.51%). Distribution of articles based on publication numbers during the period, namely issue 1 (June) published as many as 34 articles (47.89%) and issue 2 (December) published as many as 37 articles (52.11%) with a total of 975 pages with an average of 11-15 pages. This journal has 30 citations, an annual citation 6.00, a written citation 0.42, h-index 2, g-index 2, hI, norm 2, and hla 0.40. The strength of the network between the authors and the frequency of collaboration can be seen in VosViewer’s visualization.

Abstract

A reference manager such as Mendeley Desktop is needed to make it easier for scientific paper writers to automatically generate bibliography. However, metadata of several refereed journal articles cannot be extracted properly by Mendeley. Errors in generating a journal’s metadata will certainly disadvantage the authors of the cited article and journal. Mistakes in citation can also threaten the citer with plagiarism. This study seeks to find an in-house style that can be accurately detected by Mendeley Desktop as a reference for journal managers to make their journals’ metadata can be properly extracted. The study investigates samples of 27 articles from 27 different journals published by LIPI. The accuracy of metadata extraction of the sample articles is examined on Mendeley Desktop version 1.19.4 and refers to Mendeley’s metadata extraction pipeline with eight assessment variables. The accuracy percentage from Mendeley Desktop's metadata extraction is analyzed using a descriptive approach. It was found that variable of journal titles in all journals can not be extracted which gives the maximum accuracy percentage of 87.5%, with only four journals that get this percentage. There are nine indicators that can be followed to achieve this percentage. For journal managers, setting the layout of journal articles based on Mendeley Desktop’s or Google Scholar’s convention in extracting metadata needs to be considered in the digital era. However, advances in information technology have an influence on the visual layout and the in-house style of scientific papers.

Abstract

Library promotion through social media is an integral part of library services, especially for academic libraries. Social media can inform the end-users of what library’s resources and services and give librarians an impression of users’ views and needs. This study aimed to determine the use of social media to promote academic libraries in Indonesia. This research used a qualitative approach, specifically a systematic literature review, and includes details about identifying the research questions, the literature search process, data synthesis and search results. Based on the scientific papers identified and reviewed, the majority of research was published in 2019. The most frequent social media platforms for library promotions were Facebook and Instagram. Academic libraries located in Yogyakarta carried out the most social media promotions. Obstacles to promoting libraries through social media in Indonesia were primarily due to internal factors of libraries.

Abstract

In the digital era, universities are required to be more accountable and professional in managing institutions’ records. Archival institutions play a fundamental role in managing all matters related to university archives. This study aims to reveal the performance of higher education archive institutions that have been carried in two universities in Indonesia which are UGM and Airlangga University. This research gathered the main sources via the universitys’ website. The method used a qualitative research methodology. While the approach used in this study is content analysis which begins with unitizing, data reduction, abductively inferring contextual phenomena, and analysis. The study found that the two universities through their archives units have performed well by following the mandate of the law. It can be seen in both website features, as well as the development in each segment is complete and explorative owned by UGM compared to Airlangga University. This study uses a mixed-method approach (quantitative and qualitative). 92 students as the respondents filled out online questionnaires about their proper online learning. Not only filling in a quantitative questionnaire, these respondents were also given to provide reasons for each filled answer. Online learning in the Department of Library Science of UIN Sunan Kalijaga has been conducted since March 2020. The implementation uses different applications for each lecturer. Some of the most widely used applications are Whatsapp, Google Classroom, eLearning UIN Sunan Kalijaga, online meeting applications such as Zoom, Google Meet, and Webex, Youtube, and podcast applications such as Anchor and Spotify. Evaluation of online learning using the principle of inclusiveness is necessary.

Digitizing (ICH) archives is an important thing in the digital era. These archives are national cultures that must be protected and preserved and could not be claimed by foreign parties. This study aims to find out the importance of ICH archives as legal protection for IPR. The design of this research is a literature review. The data sources were scientific journal articles, books, and documents from trusted organizations. To analyze the data, the researcher uses the content analysis method to analyze the text objectively and validly. The results of this study answer four important issues, namely (1) digitization archive can be done by referring to IFLA policies; (2) ICH archives can be used for IPR submission in the communal ownership field; (3) digitizing ICH archives have an important role in efforts to maintain the national culture, legal protection, security, providing public access, make the archive re-saving process more manageable, and saving maintenance costs; (4) legal protection of ICH can be achieved in four ways, namely through customary law, registered as IPR, recording, and stipulation of ICH by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, the stipulation of UNESCO ICH as a representation of world recognition. Those whole processes are a preventive measure to prevent discrimination and unilateral claims to achieve prosperity and legal justice.

Abstract

Research data sharing activities provide many benefits to the research ecosystem. However, in the Indonesian context, there is a lack of policy in regulating research data sharing mechanisms which makes researchers reluctant to undertake the practice of data sharing. Research funders and research institutions play a critical role in developing data-sharing policies. Research related to the policy of research data sharing is important in order to design policies to encourage the practice of research data sharing. A systematic literature review was conducted to see how data-sharing policies were formulated and implemented in various research institutions. The data were taken from Scopus and Dimension indexers using controlled vocabulary. The roles of research institutions and funders as well as policy instruments were analyzed to see patterns that occur between the parties. We examine 23 articles containing data sharing policies. it was found that the funders have the greatest role in determining the design of the data sharing policy. Funders view that research data is an asset in research funded by public funding so that the benefits must be returned to the community. Research institutes play a role as a provider of research infrastructure that contributes to data creation. Meanwhile, researchers as research actors need to provide input in developing data sharing mechanisms and regulating data sensitivity aspects and legal aspects in research data sharing.
