Abstract

The study of modern Islam faces social, cultural, political, and scientific complexities that cannot be addressed solely through a normative-theological approach. This study aims to explore the urgency, implementation, and challenges of an interdisciplinary approach in the development of modern Islamic studies. The method used is a literature study by examining academic works on the integration of Islamic sciences with social sciences, humanities, and science. The results show that an interdisciplinary approach broadens the comprehensive understanding of Islam, both in the study of tafsir, hadith, and fiqh, as well as in the curriculum practices at PTKIN and Islamic-based schools. The challenges that arise include resistance from conservative circles, limited academic resources, and methodological conflicts between disciplines. The novelty of this research lies in the synthesis of Nissani's interdisciplinary theory, Amin Abdullah's integration-interconnection paradigm, and Miller's concept of epistemic collaboration, which emphasises that interdisciplinarity is not merely a methodological choice but a strategic paradigm in building more dynamic, inclusive, and solution-oriented Islamic studies.   Studi Islam modern menghadapi kompleksitas sosial, budaya, politik, dan ilmu pengetahuan kontemporer yang tidak dapat dijawab hanya dengan pendekatan normatif-teologis. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi urgensi, implementasi, dan tantangan pendekatan interdisipliner dalam pengembangan studi Islam modern. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi literatur dengan menelaah karya-karya akademik mengenai integrasi ilmu keislaman dengan ilmu sosial, humaniora, dan sains. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan interdisipliner memperluas pemahaman Islam secara komprehensif, baik dalam kajian tafsir, hadis, dan fiqh, maupun dalam praktik kurikulum di PTKIN dan sekolah berbasis Islam. Tantangan yang muncul meliputi resistensi dari kalangan konservatif, keterbatasan sumber daya akademik, serta konflik metodologis antar disiplin. Kebaruan penelitian ini terletak pada sintesis teori interdisipliner Nissani, paradigma integrasi-interkoneksi Amin Abdullah, dan konsep kolaborasi epistemik Miller yang menegaskan interdisipliner bukan sekadar pilihan metodologis, melainkan paradigma strategis dalam membangun studi Islam yang lebih dinamis, inklusif, dan solutif.

Abstract

This study examines the application of the muthlaq–muqayyad rule in qiṣāṣ law, which serves as a guideline in understanding the difference between general and specific terms in the establishment of Islamic law. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach (dirāsah maṣdariyyah), through an analysis of classical fiqh works and contemporary interpretations related to qiṣāṣ. The results show that the muthlaq–muqayyad rule is an important instrument in maintaining the balance between divine justice and human rationality, so that its application is able to emphasize the flexibility of Islamic law in protecting life and upholding justice. The application of this principle shows that qiṣāṣ is not only a law of retribution, but also a moral and social framework based on the values of maqāṣid al-syarīʿah.   Penelitian ini mengkaji penerapan kaidah muthlaq–muqayyad dalam hukum qiṣāṣ yang berfungsi sebagai pedoman dalam memahami perbedaan antara lafaz umum dan lafaz khusus dalam penetapan hukum Islam. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kepustakaan (dirāsah maṣdariyyah), melalui telaah terhadap karya-karya fikih klasik dan interpretasi kontemporer terkait qiṣāṣ. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kaidah muthlaq–muqayyad merupakan instrumen penting dalam menjaga keseimbangan antara keadilan Ilahi dan rasionalitas manusia, sehingga penerapannya mampu menegaskan fleksibilitas hukum Islam dalam melindungi jiwa dan menegakkan keadilan. Penerapan prinsip ini menunjukkan bahwa qiṣāṣ bukan hanya hukum pembalasan, tetapi juga kerangka moral dan sosial yang berlandaskan pada nilai-nilai maqāṣid al-syarīʿah.

Abstract

This study discusses optimizing Instagram as a promotional medium for the Makassar Health Vocational School Library. The research focuses on two main aspects: the type of content promoted and the strategies employed for promotional activities. The study aims to identify effective content and optimal strategies to enhance the visibility of library services on Instagram. The study employed a qualitative research approach involving observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. Five informants were selected through purposive sampling: two librarians, a social media manager, a teacher, and two active library users. Data analysis was conducted according to the Miles and Huberman model through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research findings show that promoted content includes service information, the latest collections, literacy education, and documentation of student literacy activities. Effective strategies include using attractive visuals, maintaining a consistent upload schedule, and actively interacting with followers. This study confirms that optimizing content and promotional strategies on Instagram increases student engagement and awareness of library services. Additionally, applying Islamic communication ethics based on tabligh, amanah, and ihsan ensures that promotional messages are educational, honest, and beneficial to users.

Abstract

This study explores the harmony between Bugis pappaseng values and the Islamic concept of tazkiyatun nafs. Using a qualitative library research approach combined with content analysis, the research examines lontarak manuscripts, historical sources, and classical Islamic texts on spiritual purification. The findings indicate that the five core values in pappaseng—lempu (honesty), amaccang (wisdom), asitinajang (propriety), agettengeng (steadfastness), and siri’ na pesse (honor and solidarity)—are aligned with fundamental principles of tazkiyatun nafs such as sidq (truthfulness), hikmah (wisdom), adl (justice), istiqamah (consistency), and ukhuwah (brotherhood). Both traditions emphasize moral integrity, social harmony, and spiritual devotion as foundations for individual and communal life. This research highlights that Bugis cultural heritage and Islamic teachings are not separate entities, but mutually reinforcing frameworks for shaping moral identity and sustaining collective values in contemporary society. Abstract

This study aims to identify the causes of environmental and educational problems based on religious moderation, as well as to reactivate the role of the government and society in building effective collaboration for a sustainable civilization. The issues studied in this research are environmental conditions, education based on religious moderation, and forms of synergy between the government and society in creating an educational environment based on religious moderation. This qualitative study uses observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation for data collection. The results show that the physical environmental conditions of the Sitra Samata Permai Housing Complex do not meet quality standards based on Kevin Lynch's indicators, such as poorly functioning drainage, damaged road infrastructure, poorly maintained buildings, and a lack of public facilities. Education based on religious moderation is not yet well structured, but moderate values are still applied, supported by the Khadijah Taklim Council. However, the synergy between the government and the community is still weak, as neither has fully carried out its respective roles, thereby hindering effective collaboration in environmental and educational development. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi penyebab masalah lingkungan dan pendidikan berdasarkan moderasi agama, serta untuk mengaktifkan kembali peran pemerintah dan masyarakat dalam membangun kolaborasi yang efektif untuk peradaban yang berkelanjutan. Permasalahan yang menjadi kajian dalam penelitian ini kondisi lingkungan, pendidikan berbasis moderasi beragama dan bentuk sinergi antara pemerintah dan masyarakat dalam menciptakan lingkungan pendidikan berbasis moderasi beragama. Penelitian kualitatif ini menggunakan observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi untuk pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi lingkungan fisik Perumahan Sitra Samata Permai tidak memenuhi standar kualitas berdasarkan indikator Kevin Lynch seperti drenase yang tidak berfungsi dengan baik, infrastruktur jalan yang rusak, kondisi bangunan tidak terawat dan tidak terdapat fasilitas umum. Pendidikan yang didasarkan pada moderasi agama belum terstruktur dengan baik, namun nilai-nilai moderat tetap diterapkan, didukung oleh Majelis Taklim Khadijah. Namun, sinergi antara pemerintah dan masyarakat masih lemah, karena keduanya belum sepenuhnya melaksanakan peran masing-masing, sehingga menghambat kolaborasi yang efektif dalam pengembangan lingkungan dan pendidikan.
