Abstract

Planting of leguminous cover crops is a standard practise in preparing land for oil palm and rubber plantations. The synergism capability of Bradyrhizobium, Aeromonas punctata (phosphate solubilizing bacteria) and Acaulospora tuberculata (AM fungi) to increase growth of leguminous cover crops (Calopogonium caeruleum and Centrosema pubescens) was studied in a glass house experiment using polybag (10 x 10 cm) containing acid soil with low level nutrition of Ciomas, Bogor. Research results showed that Bradyrhizobium, A. punctata and A. tuberculata inoculation on C. caeruleum signifycantly enhanced plant height, and number of leaves. However, the treatment did not increase biomass and N, P, and K uptake of plant. Number of nodule were increase when the plant was inoculated with A. tuberculata alone or in combination with Bradyrhizobium and A. punctata. Centrosema pubescens gave good response when inoculated with A. tuberculata. However, dual inoculation of the two bacteria Bradyrhizobium and A. punctata with A. tuberculata signifycantly enhance plant height, plant biomass, N, P, and K plant uptake. AbstrakPenanaman tanaman kacang-kacangan penutup tanah merupakan standar dalam penyiapan lahan pada pengusahaan kelapa sawit dan karet. Kemampuan sinergisme Bradyrhizobium (bakteri penambat N2), Aeromonas punctata (bakteri pelarut fosfat), dan Acaulospora tuberculata (cendawan mikoriza arbuskula) untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman kacangkacangan penutup tanah (Calopogonium caeruleum dan Centrosema pubescens) dipelajari dalam percobaan rumah kaca menggunakan polibag berukuran 10 x 10 cm berisi tanah Ciomas Bogor yang bereaksi masam dan miskin hara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa inokulasi Bradyrhizobium, A. Punctata, dan A. tuberculata pada C. caeruleum nyata meningkatkan pertumbuhan tinggi tanaman dan jumlah daun. Namun, perlakuan ini tidak meningkatkan biomasa dan serapan N, P, dan K tanaman. Jumlah bintil akar meningkat pada tanaman yang diinokulasi A. tuberculata sendiri atau dalam kombinasinya dengan Bradyrhizobium dan A. punctata. Centrosema pubescens menunjukkan respon yang baik bila diinokulasi dengan A. tuberculata. Bagaimanapun juga inokulasi dua bakteri, yaitu Bradyrhizobium and A. punctata yang disertai A. tuberculata nyata meningkatkan tinggi tanaman, biomasa, serapan N, P, dan K tanaman.

Abstract

The study was conducted at the farmer’s field in Ujung Batu Sijunjung, West Sumatera using local Salacca cultivars developed from crossing between cultivar Pondoh as female plant and indigenous salak of Sumatera as male plant. This study was held from January 2003 until December 2005. The objective of this study was to develop database of Salacca characters by exploration method and using data passport model. The research result showed that five accessions with yellowish white fruits and the other five accessions with white fruits. The plant that produced fruit with good quality was SNJ-01 and thick flesh (0.57 cm), sweet (18,00oBrix in TSS), crispy, yellowish white in color and contains water 77.02%. AbstrakPenelitian ini dilakukan di kebun petani Desa Ujung Batu Kabupaten Sijunjung Sumatera Barat dengan menggunakan materi tanaman salak yang ada di daerah tersebut yang berasal dari persilangan antara induk betina salak Pondoh dan jantan indigenous Sumatera. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Januari 2003 sampai dengan Desember 2005 dan bertujuan untuk menyusun database karakter tanaman salak, metode yang digunakan adalah eksplorasi dan pengumpulan database menggunakan model paspor data. Hasil penelitian diperoleh deskripsi 5 aksesi yang warna buahnya putih kekuningan dan 5 aksesi yang warna buahnya putih. Tanaman yang menghasilkan buah dengan mutu baik, yaitu aksesi nomor SNJ-01, di mana daging buahnya tebal (0,57 cm), manis (PTT = 18,00oBrix), masir, berwarna putih kekuningan, dan kadar air (7,02%).

Abstract

Field Selection on Several Rice Varieties for Resistance to Bacterial Leaf Blight strain IV and VIII. Bacterial leaf blight (BLB) on rice (Oryza sativa) caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) is the major obstruction for rice production. Powerful strategy to control BLB is generally conducted by planting resistant plant. Meanwhile, the main way to explore germplasm as the source of resistance gene is conducted by selection a wide rice varieties. Field selection for resistance to BLB on 150 rice-varieties (BB-Biogen collection) was conducted in 2009 in Cianjur. Three leaves and flag leaves of individual hills at vegetative and flowering stage were inoculated by clipping the leaf tip with scissors which had been connected with a suspension bottle of bacterial cells (109- 1010 cells/ml) of the isolates which represented bacterial groups (strain) IV and VIII, respectively. Each plant was inoculated with one race. Two weeks after inoculation, length of the lesion developed on the inoculated leaf was measured, as an index of severity of infection by BLB. This experiment was treated as Factorial-Randomized Completed Block Design (two factor-with 3 replications, respectively). The resistancyreaction to strain IV and VIII was observed as the variable tested, while the factors measured consists of plant-varieties and two bacterial strains. The results showed that 11 varieties with a resistance-reaction to Xoo strain IV, inwhich 5 varieties poses a consistent resistance-reaction, i.e: Pulu Bolong, Pelopor, Gombal, Barito and Kapuas. While resistancereaction to Xoo strain VIII obtained only one variety : IR42 (score-1), while 17 others showed intermediate resistancy (score-3). AbstrakPenyakit hawar daun bakteri (HDB) yang disebabkan oleh Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) pada padi (Oryza sativa) merupakan faktor pembatas upaya peningkatan produksi padi. Pencarian gen-gen tahan terhadap HDB sangat diperlukan untuk pengendalian penyakit tersebut. Seleksi ketahanan terhadap HDB dilakukan di Cianjur pada MT 2009 terhadap 150 varietas padi koleksi Bank Gen, BB-Biogen. Isolat Xoo yang diuji adalah strain IV dan VIII. Inokulasi dilakukan dua kali, yaitu pada fase vegetatif dan generatif dengan cara menggunting 3-5 cm dari ujung daun dan daun bendera dengan gunting yang telah dihubungkan dengan botol berisi suspensi Xoo strain IV dan VIII (109-1010 sel/ml). Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah acak kelompok faktorial dengan tiga ulangan. Sebagai varietas pembanding tahan digunakan IRBB7 dan pembanding rentan varietas Kencana Bali. Reaksi ketahanan tertinggi terhadap Xoo strain IV ditunjukkan oleh 11 varietas terpilih dengan reaksi agak tahan, lima varietas di antaranya menunjukkan reaksi yang konsisten agak tahan, yaitu varietas Pulu Bolong, Pelopor, Gombal, Barito, dan Kapuas. Reaksi ‘tahan’ terhadap Xoo strain VIII ditunjukkan oleh satu varietas introduksi IR42. Untuk varietas terpilih dengan reaksi ‘agak tahan’ terdapat 17 varietas.

Abstract

Plant genetic resources are as a source of geneticvariability and can be used to develop new varieties tolerant toabiotic and biotic stress. Evaluation of cowpea germplasm toabiotic stress, such as acidic soil has to be done to obtaininformation of their tolerance. Cowpea germplasm collectionheld in ICABIOGRAD was tested under acidic soil conditionin Jasinga, West Java and Bogor as control during March-June2007. The criteria of tolerance to acidic soil was determinedwhen the grain yield of cowpea under acidic soil more than80% compare to those yield under non acidic soil, whilesusceptible to acidic soil when lower than 25%. Result ofexperiment showed that accession of LO-3-38, Ces-41-6,TVX-4661-01D-A, IT82-889-A, TV.3381-0-2j-B and KacangTolo Loreng were tolerant to acidic soil, while Kacang Dadapdan Kacang Tolo were susceptible. These accessions could beused as parent materials for genetic study related to acidic soilstress.

Abstract

Genotype Performance of Early Maturity Maize with N High and Low Dosage Fertilization in Irrigated Land After Rice Planting in South Sulawesi. Ruchjaniningsih and Muh. Thamrin. To reduce the negative impact of excessive fertilizer N use efficiency of N needs to be done, especially on maize that much need N. N use efficiency can be improved through the establishment of adaptive varieties of maize N fertilization is low, it is necessary for the characterization of the plant as a basis for screening genotypes. Some strains of maize have been evaluated wetland in Bontomanai, Bantaeng district, South Sulawesi, on May to December 2009, the result of the appearance of phenotypic characters and yield components. The experiments were arranged in a randomized block design with a factorial treatment genotype A (X01904 ), B (X02804 ), C (X02904 ), D (X03404), E (X03604), F (Bima- 1), G (Lamuru), H (Gumarang), and local B yellow for comparison with N fertilization (high and low dose) repeated three times. The results showed that fertilizer N 400 kg/ha had a greater impact on the character of the observed fertilization N 200 kg/ha. Genotypes that have high yield potential in rice fields is Lamuru cultivars (13.44 t/ha) and X01904 (13.33 t/ha). All genotypes tested from early maturing (76-84 dap). Genotype X01904, X02804, X02904, X03404, and Bima-1 excel in the characters observed compared to check varieties. Check varieties (local) is superior genotypes were tested on plant height and ear height layout. AbstrakUntuk mengurangi dampak negatif pemupukan N yang berlebihan perlu dilakukan efisiensi penggunaan N, terutama pada tanaman jagung yang banyak membutuhkan N. Efisiensi penggunaan N dapat ditingkatkan melalui pembentukan varietas jagung adaptif pemupukan N rendah, untuk itu perlu dilakukan karakterisasi tanaman sebagai dasar skrining genotipe. Beberapa galur jagung telah dievaluasi pada lahan sawah di Bontomanai, Kabupaten Bantaeng, Sulawesi Selatan, pada Mei- Desember 2009, untuk melihat penampilan fenotipik karakter hasil dan komponen hasil. Percobaan ditata dalam rancangan acak kelompok pola faktorial dengan perlakuan genotipe A (X01904), B (X02804), C (X02904), D (X03404), E(X03604), F (Bima-1), G (Lamuru), H (Gumarang), dan lokal B Kuning sebagai pembanding dengan pemupukan N (dosis tinggi dan rendah) diulang tiga kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemupukan N 400 kg/ha berpengaruh lebih baik terhadap karakter yang diamati dari pemupukan N 200 kg/ha. Genotipe yang mempunyai potensi hasil tinggi di lahan sawah adalah kultivar Lamuru (13,44 t/ha) dan X01904 (13,33 t/ha). Semua genotipe yang diuji berumur genjah (76-84 hst). Genotipe X01904, X02804, X02904, X03404, dan Bima-1 unggul dalam karakter-karakter yang diamati dibandingkan dengan varietas pembanding. Varietas pembanding (lokal) lebih unggul dibandingkan dengan genotipe yang diuji pada karakter tinggi tanaman dan tinggi letak tongkol.

Abstract

Persimmon (Diospyros kaki L.) was one of the local specific horticulture products in high land. Junggo persimmon has attractive appearance of the ripe fruit with orange to red colour. The size of fruit was 200-300 g, sweet taste, enough water and crispy. Astringent taste could be elimated by fruit treatments. The vase life of fruit was 14 days, productivity was 400-500 kg/trees/years. Persimmon was originated of subtropical region of China and Japan. In Java persimmon was planted in high land at 1000 m up to 1500 m above sea level with high rainfall. The Junggo persimmon had good market and had been exported to Singapore about 30-40 ton/seasons. The consumers prefer persimmon fruit from Junggo than from other areas of Java. AbstrakSalah satu produk hortikultura spesifik lokasi yang tumbuh di dataran tinggi Batu adalah kesemek atau persimmon (Diospyros kaki L.). Kesemek Junggo memiliki beberapa keunggulan, terutama penampilan buahnya yang sangat menarik, berwarna oranye bila telah masak optimal. Bila sudah matang, buah berwarna merah seperti tomat dan lunak. Ukuran buah besar, 200-300 g/buah, rasa buah manis-kelat, kandungan air cukup, buah optimal rasanya renyah, daya simpan buah lebih dari 14 hari. Rasa kelat atau sepat dapat dihilangkan dengan beberapa cara. Produktivitas kesemek 400-500 kg/pohon/tahun, berbuah hanya sekali setahun dari tanaman yang rata-rata sudah tua. Kesemek berasal dari Cina dan Jepang, banyak dijumpai di daerah subtropik dan dataran tinggi daerah tropik. Di daerah tropik umumnya dijumpai pada ketinggian di atas 1000 m dpl. Di Jawa, tanaman kesemek tumbuh baik pada ketinggian 1000-1500 m dpl dengan curah hujan tinggi. Kesemek menyukai daerah beriklim sejuk dan lembab. Kesemek asal Junggo-Batu sejak tahun 1983 telah diekspor ke Singapura. Potensi dan volume ekspor buah kesemek asal Junggo-Batu yang diperoleh dari satu dusun Junggo berkisar antara 30-40 t/ musim. Menurut eksportir, buah kesemek asal Junggo-Batu lebih disukai oleh konsumen Singapura dibandingkan dengan buah kesemek dari daerah lain di Jawa karena rasanya lebih manis, renyah, kandungan air banyak, buah berukuran besar, dan berwarna merah-jingga menarik.

Abstract

The objective of the study was to evaluate resistance response of groundnut genotypes against bacterial wilt (Ralstonia solanacearum) in the green house of Biochemistry Department, ICABIOGRAD, Bogor. Ralstonia solanacearum isolate was obtained from groundnut plant showing wilt symptom, collected from Karadenan village (Cibinong). Preparation of bacterial RS inoculum was done using SP (sucrose peptone) medium. Groundnut plants were inoculated by RS isolate using inoculum capacity of 107 cfu/ml. The experiment was arranged in randomized complete block design (RCBD) consisted of seven treatments with four replications, whilst Tupai and Kelinci genotypes were used as resistant and susceptible control check, respectively. The result indicated that groundnut genotypes i.e. ICGV 88262, Local Sindangbarang, PI 203395, ICG 10067, and ICG 3400, showed resistant response against bacterial wilt causing wilt damage of <20%. Bacterial wilt disease could affect reductions of some groundnut phenotypic character. The plant height of resistant groundnut showed relatively tall than that of Kelinci. In addition, it showed the lowest healthy pod yield among the genotypes tested. AbstrakPenelitian bertujuan untuk mempelajari tingkat ketahanan genotipe kacang tanah terhadap penyakit layu bakteri (Ralstonia solanacearum) di rumah kaca Kelompok Peneliti Biokimia BB-Biogen. Isolat R. solanacearum diperoleh dari tanaman kacang tanah yang menunjukkan gejala layu dari Desa Karadenan (Cibinong). Penyiapan dan penyediaan inokulum bakteri R. solanacearum menggunakan media SP (sukrose pepton). Tanaman kacang tanah diinokulasi dengan isolat R. solanacearum dengan kerapatan koloni 107 cfu/ml. Penelitian disusun menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok dengan tujuh perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Untuk pembanding tahan dan rentan masing-masing digunakan genotipe Tupai dan Kelinci. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa genotipe ICGV 88262, lokal Sindangbarang, PI 203395, ICG 10067, dan ICG 3400 tahan terhadap penyakit layu bakteri dengan nilai kerusakan <20%. Penyakit layu bakteri berpengaruh terhadap penurunan beberapa karakter fenotipik kacang tanah, di mana tanaman genotipe kacang tanah tahan PLB relatif lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan genotipe Kelinci. Polong bernas Kelinci paling sedikit di antara semua genotipe uji.

Abstract

Phenotypic Performance of Yield and Yield Component of Rice Promising Lines at Tidal Swamp Area in Karang Agung, South Sumatra. An experiment was conducted in Karang Agung, in April until September 2007. The experiment aimed at evaluating phenotypic performance of yield and yield components of promising lines in tidal swamp rice field. The experiment was arranged in a Randomized Complete Block Design with 16 treatments and four replications. The promising lines tested were B9858-KA-55, B9833C-KA-14, B9852E-KA-66, B5524G-SM-61-2-1, B7003D-MR-24-3-1, KAL9414F-MR-2-KN-0, KAL9418F-MR-2-KN-0, B10214FTB- 7-2-3, IR70213-9-CPA-12-UBN-2-1-3-1, IR70215-2- CPA-2-1-B-1-2. The check varieties used were IR42, Batanghari and Lembu Sawah. The results of this experiment showed that IR61242-3B-B-2 had better performance among varieties and promising lines tested, as well as giving the highest yield potential. Meanwhile, the line B10214F-TB-7-2- 3 had better performance of number of filled grain, and 1.000 grain weight. It also showed higher yield potential compared to IR42 and Batanghari. The line KAL9418F-MR-2-KN-0 had better performance of plant height, 1.000 weight grain and harvest age, but showed lower yield potential compared to those other check varieties. AbstrakPercobaan dilaksanakan di KP Karang Agung, Sumatera Selatan pada bulan April sampai September 2007. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendapatkan informasi tentang penampilan fenotipik karakter hasil dan komponen hasil dari galur-galur harapan padi rawa di lahan pasang surut Karang Agung. Percobaan ditata dalam rancangan acak kelompok dengan 16 perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Galur-galur yang diuji di antaranya B9858-KA-55, B9833C-KA-14, B9852E-KA-66, B5524GSM- 61-2-1, B7003D-MR-24-3-1, KAL9414F-MR-2-KN-0, KAL9418F-MR-2-KN-0, B10214F-TB-7-2-3, IR70213-9- CPA-12-UBN-2-1-3-1, dan IR70215-2-CPA-2-1-B-1-2. Varietas pembanding digunakan IR42, Batanghari, dan Lembu Sawah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa galur IR61242- 3B-B-2 memiliki penampilan lebih baik dari varietas pembanding untuk karakter tinggi tanaman, jumlah gabah isi, bobot 1.000 butir gabah, dan potensi hasil. Galur B10214F-TB-7-2-3 memberikan penampilan lebih baik untuk karakter jumlah gabah isi, bobot 1.000 butir, dan potensi hasil lebih tinggi daripada pembanding IR42 dan Batanghari. Galur KAL9418F-MR- 2-KN-0 memiliki penampilan lebih baik untuk karakter bobot 1.000 butir, tinggi tanaman, dan umur panen, tetapi potensi hasilnya lebih rendah dari ketiga varietas pembanding.

Abstract

Selection of Several Potato Clones (Solanum tuberosum L.) Derived from Crosses for High Yielding on Highland of Ciwidey. Kusmana. Granola and Atlantic are two dominant varieties grown by farmers. So far no other alternative superior varieties that can be used by farmers to develop potato cultivation in the field. The objective of the research was to identify potato clones that were highest yielding in the highland Ciwidey and the potential for multy location evaluation. The experiment was conducted in Ciwidey, Bandung District at altitude 1.400 m above sea level. A total of 41 advanced breeding materials and variety was planted. A Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications was used and an experimental unit consisted of 10 hill/plot. The result indicated that high yielding clones (up to 35.6 t/ha) were obtained clones 29, (43.8 t/ha), 11 (38.2 t/ha), 31 (37.3 t/ha), 13 (36 t/ha) and 35 (35.6 t/ha). Whereas, the variety of Granola as a comparison was yielded only 23.4 t/ha. Clones 9, 22 and 35 were suitable for potato chips. This study indicated that among the genotipes tested, there were superior clones were promissing for potato cultivation in indonesia. AbstrakAreal pertanaman kentang cenderung semakin meningkat namun hasil yang dicapai petani masih relatif rendah sehingga diperlukan upaya pemuliaan untuk memperbaiki varietas yang ada. Tujuan penelitian ialah mendapatkan informasi tentang daya hasil 41 klon kentang yang berpotensi hasil tinggi pada ekosistem dataran tinggi Ciwidey. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Ciwidey, Kabupaten Bandung elevasi 1.400 m di atas permukaan laut. Rancangan Percobaan yang digunakan ialah Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan tiga ulangan. Jumlah klon yang diuji meliputi 41 klon harapan, termasuk varietas pembanding Granola. Populasi tanaman per plot terdiri atas 10 individu tanaman. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa hasil kentang tertinggi diperoleh pada klon 29 (43,8 t/ha), 11 (38,2 t/ha), 31 (37,3 t/ha), 13 (36 t/ha), dan 35 (35,6 t/ha), sementara hasil varietas pembanding Granola hanya 23,4 t/ha. Klon 9, 22 dan 35 berpotensi sebagai bahan baku industri kripik kentang. Kegiatan ini menghasilkan klon-klon kentang unggul sebagai calon varietas baru yang memberikan kontribusi terhadap peningkatan produksi kentang di Indonesia.

Abstract

The characterization of indian mulberry or noni (Morinda citrifolia L.) was conducted in some areas of Java in May to December 2003 to study their morfological and quality variations. It was found that there were seven distinct groups of noni types. Base on fruit size, there were two distinguished groups; types with big fruits (Types 1, 2, 4, and 5), and types with small fruits (types 3, 6, and 7). Big fruit had higher extract concentration than small fruit. Type 4 was seed less, had in highest juice percentage. The seed less type was rare and only found in Surakartya and Semarang in a limited population. The types widely grown throughout the entire survey areas. The type 5 has highest fruit weight, its fruits grew in cluster, it was found in Malingping and Tasikmalaya. Base on fruits taste, none could be grouped into two groups: fruits with sour-sweet taste and fruit with bitter taste. All types which grew near the beach had bitter taste. The bitter fruits did not fall when they were ripe, whereas the sour-sweet fruits fall at the some of ripening. AbstrakPenelitian dilakukan di sentra pertanaman mengkudu di Jawa Barat (Ciampea, Cipaku, Jasinga, Tasikmalaya), Banten (tepi pantai Malingping), Jawa Tengah (Surakarta, Semarang, Yogyakarta), dan di Jawa Timur (Lamongan) pada bulan Mei- Desember 2003, untuk mengetahui ciri-ciri morfologi dan mutu buah mengkudu. Telah diperoleh tujuh tipe mengkudu dengan perbedaan sifat-sifat morfologi, fisiologi, dan mutu buahnya. Perbedaan tipe mengkudu yang mencolok adalah bentuk, ukuran, rasa, dan rendemen daging buah. Dari ketujuh tipe tersebut terdapat dua tipe yang berukuran buah besar (tipe 1, 2, 4, dan 5), dan tipe berukuran buah kecil (tipe 3, 6, dan 7). Tipe mengkudu yang ukuran buahnya besar, rendemen jus dan daging buahnya lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan yang buahnya berukuran kecil. Dari tipe berukuran buah besar terdapat satu tipe berbiji sedikit yang dianggap seed less, yaitu tipe 4, sehingga rendemen daging buahnya tinggi. Tipe seed less termasuk langka, karena hanya ditemukan di Surakarta dan Semarang dengan populasi terbatas. Tipe yang mempunyai daerah penyebaran luas adalah tipe 1, ditemukan di tepi pantai hingga ketinggian 600 m dpl. Tipe 5 bobot buahnya paling tinggi, buah bercabang, ditemukan di Malingping dan Tasikmalaya. Rasa daging buah, dapat dibedakan menjadi dua kelompok, yaitu asam manis dan pahit. Semua tipe yang tumbuh di tepi pantai rasa buahnya pahit, dan setelah masak buahnya tidak langsung jatuh. Kelompok yang mempunyai rasa buah tidak pahit, buah tidak langsung jatuh setelah masak.
