Abstract

India sued the United States in the World Trade Organization (WTO) regarding the DS547 aluminum import tariff policy. The United States' policy affected India's economy in aluminum exports to the United States. The tariff policy violated Articles 11(a) and 11(b) of the GATT 1994 concerning commitments on import duties, imports, and exports. The dispute resolution process was carried out through the Dispute Settlement Body (DSB). The DSB is responsible for establishing a panel and recommending a final decision. The dispute was resolved through a mini-trade deal approach with a focus on reciprocal tariff reductions. The reason the United States and India agreed to the mini-trade deal was that both countries agreed to end trade tensions for strategic and economic reasons. The United States agreed to revoke the policy, and India agreed to withdraw the issue and not seek compensation from the United States, thus opening up broader market opportunities. Abstract

This study aims to identify the strategy of PT Humpuss Maritim Internasional (HUMI) in supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 14 on life below water through the implementation of the Humpuss Blue Commitment. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method using interviews and literature review. The findings show that HUMI’s strategy is implemented through proper ballast water management, the use of Oil Water Separator (OWS) technology, improved ship waste management, and environmental initiatives such as mangrove planting and employee awareness programs. The implementation of these strategies has strengthened environmental compliance within the company, as reflected in the absence of violations in 2024. However, the company still faces challenges in building sustainability awareness among employees, which continue to be addressed through policy reinforcement and ongoing innovation. Abstract

Infrastructure development, particularly roads, is a key indicator of improving public welfare and driving regional economic growth. This study aims to analyze the governance of the Kampar Regency government in road infrastructure development in Kampar Kiri District. The main focus of this study is to evaluate the extent to which the principles of good governance, such as Fairness, Transparency, Accountability, Responsiveness, and Participation, are implemented in the development process. The approach used in this study is qualitative. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews with relevant parties, direct field observations, and documentation studies of road development policies and programs. Data analysis is conducted descriptively to understand the governance practices implemented and the obstacles faced by the local government in road development. The research results show that the local government has made efforts to implement good governance principles in road construction in Kampar Kiri District. However, the implementation of these principles still faces various obstacles, including weak coordination between stakeholders, budget constraints, and minimal community participation in development planning and oversight. These conditions hamper the effectiveness of sustainable and equitable road development. Therefore, a more inclusive and collaborative governance strategy is needed between the government, the community, and the private sector to improve the quality and sustainability of infrastructure development. Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the impact of the Super Garuda Shield Joint Exercise on Indonesia-China defense diplomacy in the North Natuna Sea, a maritime disputed area due to China's overlapping claims within Indonesia's EEZ. The focus of this research is on how Indonesia and the United States engage in the joint exercise and how it can influence bilateral defense diplomacy strategies, including as a political signal of balance of threat against China's claims.. The perspective used is neoliberalism with a state-level analysis, and Stephen Walt's balance of threat theory as the main conceptual framework. This study finds that the Super Garuda Shield Joint Exercise serves as an instrument to enhance Indonesia's defense capabilities and a political signal to balance the Chinese threat, while strengthening its bargaining position in bilateral diplomacy. This role includes increasing military interoperability with the United States, strengthening deterrence in Natuna, and facilitating regional security dialogue. However, various challenges such as Indonesia's pro-Western perception, escalating Chinese activity, and trilateral tensions remain major obstacles. Abstract

The phenomenon of sustained expansion by multinational corporations in developing countries has become an important issue in the dynamics of the global industry, including Indonesia’s beauty industry, which has shown significant growth in recent years. This condition encourages multinational corporations to strengthen their presence and competitiveness in the domestic market. This study examines the reasons behind L’Oréal’s expansion in Indonesia during the 2019– 2024 period as part of the company’s strategy to expand its business operations. This research employs a qualitative method, with data collected through a literature review of books, journals, articles, and websites. The analysis is conducted using the Liberalism perspective and the theory of Foreign Direct Investment. The findings indicate that the continuity of L’Oréal’s expansion in Indonesia is influenced by the rapid growth of the beauty market, changes in lifestyle, and the dominance of the productive-age population.
