Abstract

The Doa Kubur Hari Raya Enam tradition is a cultural practice of the Malay community in Kuantan Singingi Regency, carried out on the 8th of Shawwal, with the purpose of strengthening social bonds, honoring ancestors, and reminding individuals of death and their return to Allah SWT. This study aims to examine the ethnography of communication in the Doa Kubur Hari Raya Enam tradition in Koto Tinggi Pangean Village, Pangean District, Kuantan Singingi Regency, focusing on communicative situations, communicative events, and communicative acts. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with an ethnography of communication approach. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, while data validity was ensured through triangulation. The findings indicate that the communicative situation in this tradition is characterized by the context of time, place, and a sacred atmosphere that strengthens social cohesion; communicative events include the stages of preparation, implementation, and closure; and communicative acts are manifested through symbolic verbal and nonverbal messages. Traditional leaders play a significant role in guiding communication, fostering empathy, togetherness, and the preservation of local cultural values. Abstract

The Minangkabau randai art form is a cultural heritage that is currently experiencing decline due to westernization. Amidst the challenges of modernization, the Minangkabau Student Association (IMAMI) of Riau University strives to maintain the existence of randai art through a communication strategy by making IMAMI a forum for Minangkabau students to learn about Minangkabau culture. The purpose of this study is to examine how IMAMI's choice of communicators, audiences, and delivery media are used, and how reactions emerge to IMAMI's communication strategy. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Informants were selected using purposive sampling, with a total of six informants, namely the chairperson of IMAMI, the head of the arts division of IMAMI, randai arts trainers and dancers, IMAMI alumni, and the general public (UNRI students). Data collection in this study was conducted through interviews, observation, and documentation. To ensure data validity, the researcher used source and method triangulation. The results of this study show that: 1) IMAMI selects communicators who understand randai art and participate in randai art performances so that they not only act as messengers, but also become representatives of Minangkabau culture. 2) Minang students at the University of Riau are the main target audience for introducing randai art. Determining this audience is important for the success of the communication strategy. 3) Informative, persuasive, and educational messages are used to attract the interest of students at the University of Riau. 4) Utilizing social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok to disseminate information and communicate directly, for example by holding live performances. 5) The response generated by the audience through the enthusiasm of students for randai art, as well as the emergence of pride in Minangkabau culture. Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of optimal use of social media by most tourist attractions in Sungai Penuh City. Depati VII Coffee is the most active and consistent tourist attraction that utilizes social media, especially Instagram, compared to other natural attractions in the region. This study aims to find out how Depati VII Coffee's social media promotion is implemented and how visitors respond to this strategy. The research method used is a quantitative approach with simple random sampling techniques, using a Likert scale closed questionnaire to visitors. The data were analyzed descriptively with the help of the IBM SPSS Statistics 27 application. The results of the study show that the promotion strategy through Instagram has been effective. The context variable obtained a mean value of 4.15 which indicates that the promotional message is considered interesting and relevant. The communication variable recorded the highest value of 4.17, indicating responsive and informative communication. The collaboration variable received a value of 3.86, describing a collaboration that is quite good but can still be improved, while the connection with a value of 3.92 shows the loyalty and attachment of followers to the Depati VII Coffee account. Abstract

Economic problems are a complex issue worldwide, requiring countries to maintain stable national economic growth, including Indonesia. Indonesia is alo striving to improve the country’s economic stability, particulary by increasing foreign investment, a key pillar in boosting a country’s economic growth. In 2022, Indonesia was selected to host the G20 forum. To achieve stable national economic growth, especially post-pandemic, Indonesia is leveraging the momentum of its 2022 G20 presidency to implement economic diplomacy focused on increasing foreign direct investment, thereby enchancing the country’s economic stability. The results of the research indicate that Indonesia’s implementation of economic diplomacy during the 2022 G20 presidency has significantly influenced the increase in foreign direct investment in Indonesia across various sectors. Abstract

Tourism policy is a manifestation of the integration of public policy and tourism sector development strategies oriented towards community welfare and environmental sustainability. In the context of Bengkalis Regency, the tourism sector is a selected government affair with strategic potential to increase Regional Original Income (PAD) and strengthen the region's image. The purpose of this study is to examine the tourism policy applied to the development of Lapin Beach and the factors influencing it. Tourism, as a strategic sector, requires appropriate government policies to improve community welfare while strengthening the attractiveness of tourist destinations.The research method used was descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Informants came from the Bengkalis Regency Tourism Office, the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), NGOs, and local communities. The collected data was then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing to illustrate the political realities of tourism policy in the field.The research results show that Lapin Beach development policies still face several obstacles, including budget constraints, lack of community participation, weak promotion, and suboptimal tourism infrastructure. Although the government acts as a facilitator, the dominance of local elites and minimal community involvement have led to unequal benefits. Therefore, policy transparency, increased community participation, and protection of socio-ecological aspects are essential to realizing inclusive and sustainable tourism development in North Rupat District, Bengkalis Regency. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the marketing mix to increase sales volume at PIS Burger, a culinary MSME in Pekanbaru City. The research method used was descriptive qualitative. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews with the owner, employees, and customers, and documentation. The results show that PIS Burger is able to maintain its existence through consistent product quality and distinctive flavors, affordable pricing, a strategic location, friendly and efficient service, and a simple shop atmosphere that holds historical and emotional value for customers. The promotional strategy implemented is still dominated by word of mouth, which has proven effective in retaining existing customers but has not been optimal in reaching new markets. This study concludes that the marketing mix implemented by PIS Burger has supported increased sales and customer loyalty. However, strengthening digital promotions, menu innovation, and improving physical facilities are needed to sustainably increase business competitiveness. Abstract

Indonesia's national development emphasizes empowering local potential through village-based development or village governance. Within this framework, Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMKep) play a strategic role as community economic institutions to increase local independence and prosperity. This study aims to analyze the adaptive leadership style of the village head in managing the BUMKep (Village-Owned Enterprise) in the Menggala Sempurna Village, Tanah Putih District, Rokan Hilir Regency, in 2024, and to identify the driving and inhibiting factors. This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that the village head's adaptive leadership is seen through adjusting the BUMKep management strategy to the community's socio-economic changes, building collaboration with local government and community leaders, and encouraging community participation in developing business units based on local potential. Factors driving the implementation of adaptive leadership include high community trust in the village head, support from village officials and local resource potential, and the village head's willingness to continue learning and establishing communication with various stakeholders. However, its implementation has not been optimal due to: (1) limited managerial capacity of BUMKep administrators, (2) weak governance, particularly in terms of transparency and accountability, and (3) limited capital and access to financing. Therefore, increased management capacity, transparent and accountable governance, and financial support are needed to promote the economic independence of village heads. Abstract

Sustainability issues have become a major challenge for developing countries, including Indonesia, in facing global pressure on environmental and economic management. The adoption of the circular economy concept is considered an essential strategy to reduce waste while enhancing resource efficiency This study employs the Pentahelix theory as its analytical, emphasizing collaboration among five key actors government, academia, business, community, and media in supporting the implementation of the circular economy by SCG. The level of analysis focuses on actor groups to understand the patterns of synergy and the respective roles of each party in promoting sustainability. The methodology used is qualitative with a descriptive-explanatory approach, aiming to describe the phenomenon while explaining the interactions among actors in circular economy practices. The research data are derived from primary sources, such as official SCG publications, and secondary sources, including various literatures and supporting reports to strengthen the analysis. The results indicate that SCG’s implementation of the circular economy is realized through waste management programs, the application of Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF), the reuse of residual materials, the use of renewable energy from biomass, and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance resource efficiency and reduce waste. These findings show that SCG’s efforts are not solely driven by the company’s internal commitment but are also supported by government initiatives, academic involvement in environmental research, community participation in circular education programs, and the media’s role in raising public awareness. Abstract

This study discusses the job description of Tour Leaders in managing travel activities at Mytrip Indonesia Endrifi Batam Travel Agent. The background of this research is based on tourist complaints regarding Tour Leader services, such as delayed information, lack of friendliness, and insufficient responsiveness to tourists’ needs. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the job description of Tour Leaders at each stage of the travel process, including pre-tour (before the trip), on-tour (during the trip), and post-tour (after the trip). This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation involving managers, staff, Tour Leaders, and tourists. The results indicate that the job description of Tour Leaders plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth travel experiences. At the pre-tour stage, Tour Leaders prepare travel documents and necessary arrangements; during the on-tour stage, they coordinate the itinerary, maintain comfort, and resolve issues that arise; and at the post-tour stage, they prepare reports and conduct evaluations. The conclusion emphasizes that the job description of Tour Leaders greatly affects tourist satisfaction and the company’s image, highlighting the need for improved communication skills, excellent service, and conflict management. Abstract

The City of Pekanbaru faces problems related to homeless people and beggars who are spread across strategic locations. This study analyzes the implementation of Regional Regulation Number 3 of 2023 concerning the Administration of Social Welfare using a qualitative descriptive approach. The programs implemented include social rehabilitation (181 people), social security (181 people), social empowerment (201 people), and social protection (113 people). The results show that the Regional Regulation provides a comprehensive legal framework, with the Regional House of Representatives and the Social Service acting as the main implementing institutions. However, its effectiveness is limited due to budget constraints, weak coordination, and a high rate of recidivism. Increasing budget allocation and strengthening cross-sector coordination are required to achieve sustainable social transformation. Keywords: Regional Regulation, Welfare, Homeless People, Beggars.
