Abstract

The increase of consumer demand for pulp and paper encourage PT. Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper to be able to improve its production and performance in order to compete with other similar companies. However, along with the enhancement in production, it also increase the amount of waste generated. The increasing amount of waste due to the increased of production capacity encourages PT. Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper to minimize production waste by using a method called green productivity in order to improve the environmental performance. Based onresearch done in PT. Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper, there are two alternative solutions to minimize waste that also improve the productivity and environmental performance which was to burn the sludge produced from IPAL and to produce fertilizer from IPAL sludge. However, the green productivity index of the first alternativewas biggerthan the second alternative which is 3,98. The chosen alternative was toburn the sludge produced from IPAL to the power boiler. This solution increased productivity, where the initialproductivity was2,31 to 2,43. The chosen alternative solutions may improve the environmentalperformance indicator from 0,59to0,61.Keywords:   green productivity, productivity, environmental performance indicator, PT. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect and determine the best size of G0 tubers of red onion of Lokananta variety as planting material in the cultivation of shallots (Allium ascalonicum L. ). This research was carried out by the UPT Experimental Garden Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Pekanbaru. The study was conducted from September 2019 to November 2019. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and five replications. The treatments used were tuber size> 10 g-12.5 g,> 7.5 g-10 g,> 5 g-7.5 g, and 2.5 g-5 g. The parameters observed were plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), number of bulb per clump (fruit), bulb diameter (cm), fresh bulb weight per clump (g) and bulb weight worth keeping (kg). The results of the analysis were further tested usingmultiple range test Duncan's at 5% level. The results showed that the tuber size> 10 g-12.5 g was the best G0 bulb size in increasing plant height, number of leaves, number of bulbs, fresh bulb weight and bulb weight worth keeping. Keywords:Allium ascalonicum L., Bulb size, Lokananta variety

Abstract

Peatlands in coastal areas have complex problems related to environmental interactions in them, so they are very vulnerable to damage. Dyera lowii is one of the peat swamp endemic species and is a multipurpose tree that meets the criteria. Tricho-compost has a positive effect on plant roots, plant growth and crop production. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of Tricho-compost application on the growth of Dyera lowii seedlings and to determine the best dose of Tricho-compost on the growth of Dyera lowii seedlings on peat medium. This study used 4 treatments with tricho-compost compost at several concentration levels, namely D0 = Tricho-compost dose 0% (Control), D1 = Tricho-compost dose 20% + 80% peat soil, D2 = Tricho-compost dose 50%. + 50% peat soil, D3 = 80% Tricho-compost dosage + 20% peat soil. Data were further analyzed using variance, with SPSS software version 20.0. The application of Tricho-compost fertilizer had the effect of increasing the growth of Dyera lowii seedlings (Dyera lowii), namely the increase in plant height with a dose of 80% Tricho-compost + 20% and showed a height increase of 1.04 cm. Keywords: Dyera lowii, Tricho-kompos, peat medium.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe research aim to examine the effect of interaction of cow rumen compost with NPK fertilizer and single factor of cow rumen compost, NPK fertilizer and get the best treatment combination in increasing the growth and yield of shallot. The research was conducted at UPT (Unit Pelaksanaan Teknis) of Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Riau from September to November 2018. The research was done in a completely randomized design (CRD) factorial and repeated three times. The first treatment was cow rumen compost that consist of 0 kg per plot, 2 kg per plot, 4 kg per plot and 6 kg per plot. The second factor was NPK fertilizer that consist of           0 g per plot, 30 g per plot and 60 g per plot. The observation parameters were relative growth rate, number of leaves per clump, number of tubers per clump, tuber circumference per clump, plant dry weight on day 50, fresh tuber weight per clump and tuber weight worth keeping per clump. The research data were analyzed using analysis of varriance (ANOVA) and followed by duncan’s new multiple range test (DNMRT) at level 5%. The result of the research showed that the treatment of cow rumen compost 6 kg per plot, NPK fertilizer 60 g per plot and the treatment combination of cow rumen compost 6 kg per plot with NPK fertilizer 60 g per plot were the best treatments in increasing 3,9 ton.ha-1 the growth and yield of shallot.Keywords: shallot, growth, yield, cow rumen compost, NPK fertilizer.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the interaction of corn waste compost and phosphorus fertilizer, corn waste compost, phosphorus fertilizer application, and get a better dose of corn waste compost and phosphorus fertilizer on the growth and production of sweet corn plants. This research was carried out experimentally in the field using a factorial randomized block design (RBD), namely corn waste compost (0, 2.5, 5, and 7.5 tons.ha-1) and phosphorus fertilizer (200, 300 and 400 kg.ha-1). The parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, time appears the female flowers, age of harvest, weight per cob with cornhusk, production per ha, weight per cob without cornhusk, number of rows of seeds per cob, and number seeds per row. The data obtained were statistically analyzed by analysis of variance and continued with Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. The results showed that there was an interaction of corn waste compost and phosphorus fertilizer in the production parameters per ha of sweet corn plants. Corn waste compost can increase plant height, stem diameter, weight per cob with cornhusk, and production per ha. The best gave is in the treatment of 7.5 tons.ha-1. The application of phosphorus fertilizer can increase plant height, stem diameter, time appears the female flowers, age of harvest, weight per cob with cornhusk, and production per ha. The best gave is in the treatment of 400 kg.ha-1. The application of 7.5 tons.ha-1 corn waste compost with 400 kg.ha-1 phosphorus fertilizer showed better results in almost all parameters, except for the number of leaves,number of rows of seeds per cob, and number seeds per row. Keywords: sweet corn, corn waste compost and phosphorus fertilizer

Abstract

This study was intended to determine the effect of foliar supplemented fertilizer (FSF) applied at different spraying intervals on vegetative growth and yield components of soybean.The study was conducted in Faculty of Agriculture Experiment station from March to June 2018 using a split plot design with three replications. Three levels of spraying intervals such as,W1= every 5 days, W2= every 8 days, W3= every 11 were assigned as main plot and three levels of FSF P1= Gandasil D, P2= Bayfolan, and P3= Growmore were assingned as sub plots. Traits observed were plant height, flowering date, harvesting time, total number of pods, number of filled pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, weight of seeds per plant, yield per m2, and 100-seed weight. Data were analyzed by the method of analysis of variance and followed by the least significant difference at p= 0.05. Where as the real interaction effect was seen the difference in time of application of liquid complementary fertilizer for each type of FSF.The results showed that the treatment of various types of FSF significantly affected the date of harvest. Spraying time intervals significantly affect flowering age, number of seeds per plant and yield per m2. The interaction of various types of FSF and spraying time intervals significantly affected plant height, total number of pods, number of pods, seed weight per plant and yield per m2. Keywords : foliar fertilizer, spraying interval, yield component.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of spacing and administration of sawdust organic mulch and to get the best combination in increasing the growth and production of green bean (Vignaradiata L.). This research was carried out at the University of Riau Faculty of Agriculturefor four months from April to July 2018. The research was conducted experimentally in a 2 x 4 factorial form arranged according to the Randomized Block Design (RBD). The first factor isspacing consists of three levels: 40 cm x 20 cm, 40 cm x 15 cm and 40 cm x 10 cm. The second factor is sawdust mulch consisting of two levels: Without sawdust organic mulch and 4 kg.2m-2 sawdust organic mulch. The parameters observed were plant height, number of primary branches, stem diameter, flowering age, canopy area, number of plant pods, number of planted pods, plot production and weight of 100 seeds. Spacing can increase plant height, number of primary branches and stem diameter of green bean plants. Sawdust mulch had no effect on the parameters of plant height, number of primary branches, stem diameter, flowering age, canopy area, number of plant pods, number of rice pods, plot production and weight of 100 seeds of green bean plants. Keywords: spacing, organic mulch, green bean

Abstract

Briquette is a biomass fuel. Biomass has the potential and benefits of being an alternative energy source to replace fossil fuels that exist today, biomass has an abundant stock or supply.The biomass used in this study was rice husk and sago steam bark. This study used a completely randomized design with a sample of four and four replications. The treatment was against the ratio of rice husk and sago bark 75:25, 50:50, 25:75, and 0: 100.). Data were statistically analyzed using anova andduncan’s new multiple range test (DNMRT) at 5% level. The results showed that the ratio of rice husk and bark significantly affected moisture, ash, density, rainfall density, fuel, and volatile material. The selected treatment in this researchrice husks and sago bark 25:75 with density of 0.500g/cm3, moisture content 5.913%, ash content 7.352%, evaporation content 2.582 %, carbon content can be used 84.152%, the heating value is 6604.630 cal/g, and the fuel power is 0.003 g/sec.  Keywords: Briquette, rice husk, sagosteam bark

Abstract

Dragon fruit (Hylocereus costaricensis) is one of the cactus plants that are relatively new in the middle of Indonesian people and quite popular because it tastes sweet and has a variety of health benefits. One way to increase productivity is with the selection of good crop seeds. Plant multiplication has two ways that are vegetative and generative. The multiplication of plant plants used is cuttings. For the growth of goodcuttings then it is necessary planting media that has a lot of nutrient content that is with the addition of organic fertilizer (goat + cow) and mulch organic (sawdust). This research aims to get interaction of organic fertilizer composition with organic mulch and best dose for breeding dragon fruit crop cuttings. The research was conducted in the experimental plantation, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from April to September 2017. The treatment given is the dosing of organic fertilizer with the following doses : P0 = whitout treatmented  P1 = (10 ton. Ha-1 + 20 ton. Ha-1), P2 = (20 ton. Ha-1 + 10 ton. Ha-1), M0 = without treatmented, M1 = (5 ton. Ha-1), M2 = (8 ton. Ha-1). The research was conducted experimentally using a complete randomized design method (RAL) both combined factors, gained 9 combinations of treatment and each treatment repeated 3 times, so there were 27 units of experiments. Based on the results of the study of organic fertilizer goat and cow with a composition of organic fertilizer mixture(goat 20 ton. Ha-1 + cows 10 ton. Ha-1) and organic mulch 5 ton. Ha-1 is the best treatment in increasing the growth of fruit crop cuttings dragon fruit. Keywords: dragon fruit cutting,organic fertilizer, organic mulch.

Abstract

Orangutancan be used as one of the most unique primate species in Indonesia. The shrinking and destruction of lowland forest, which is the habitat for orangutan has now reached a critical point. Forest fires and rampant poaching have caused the orangutanpopulation to decline. The formulation of an orangutanconservation strategy is necessary to preserve the orangutan population. One of the efforts to prevent the extinction of endangered species is to maintain natural individuals under controlled conditions and under human supervision, known as ex-situ conservation. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of orangutan welfare in ex-situ conservation at Kasang Kulim Zoo. The welfare level oforangutan inex-situconservation at Kasang Kulim Zoo got a good predicate with a final score was 78.35. The aspects of orangutanwelfare include being free from hunger and thirst, free from environmental discomfort, free from pain, injury and disease, free from fear and pressure and free from behaving normally.Keywords :Orangutan, ex-situ conservation, intensity, prosperity level
