Abstract

The objective of the research was todetermine the effect of cow urineand getthe best concentration of cow urineon the growth of cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.). This study used Completely Randomized Design(CRD) consisting of concentrations cow urine treatment with 5 replications, in order to obtain 30 units of experiments in which each experimental unit contained three plant sand two plants used assampel.Eachtreatmentis: (U0) with out giving cow urine, (U1): giving of cow urine 30cc/literof water, (U2):giving ofcowurine35cc/literof water, (U3): giving ofcowurine40cc/literof water, (U4): giving of cowu rine 45cc/literof waterand(U5): giving ofcowurine50cc/literof water. Parameter observed were plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), stem diameter (cm) , leaf area (cm2) and volume of plant roots (cm3). The results showedthat giving ofcow urinehas significant effect onplant height, numberof leaves, stem diameter, leaf areaandvolume of plant roots. Givingcow urineat a concentration of 35cc/literof water is the best concentration for all parameters tested. Seeing the effect ofcow urineon the research that has been done, the concentration of 35cc/literof wateris the best concentration on the growth ofcocoa age 4months. Abstract

The experiment was carried out from July 2011 to January 2012 in Peatland Experimental garden, Agriculture Faculty, University of Riau, Rimbo Panjang Village, Tambang Distric Kampar Regency. The experimental design used was randomize block design which consist of 20 treatment in the 3 blocks. The data were statistically analyzed by using analysis of variance, followed by Duncan’s test New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. The treatment consisted of 20 genotypes of chili that is genotype C2, C120, C51, C111, C105, C117, C118, C157, C159, F5110005-91-13-5, F5110005-91-13-12, F8002005-2-9-12-1, C140, C5, C18, C19, C143, F512005-5-11-1, C145 and C160. Variables measured were flowering date, dichotomus height, plant height, stem diameter, canopy width, leaf length, leaf width, harvesting date, fruit length, fruit stalk length, fruit diameter, weight per fruit and weight of fruit per plant. The results showed that characters have with the diversity coefficient is narrow criteria harvesting. Characters other than harvesting, has a coefficient of variability with broad criteria. Characters that have a high heritability value is plants higher, dichotomous height, fruit diameter, crown width, leaf width, leaf length, fruit stalk length, fruit length, fruit diameter, flowering date, weight per fruit, weight of fruit per plant. Abstract

Mustard plants (Brassica juncea L.) is vegetable commodity that have best  prospect to be developed in  Indonesia Riau province. The armyworm is singnificant pest on mustard plants. The pesticide synthetic chemistry have many negative impacts such happened pest resistance, secondary pest explosion and environment pollution. The function of phyto pesticide such betel nuts is one of pest control way to decrease using synthetic chemistry pesticide. The purpose of this research is to exam or test ability some ectract concentration of betel nut (Areca catechu L.) armyworm (Spodoptera litura F.) pest on mustard plants. This research is done in Ethnic Implementation Unit trying field’s Agriculture Faculty of Riau University by using Completely Randomized Desingn (CRD) by 5 treatments and 4 replication.The treatments that given is some extract concentrations of betel nut (Areca catechu L.) seeds are: 0 g/l water, 10 g/l water, 20 g/l water, 30 g/l water, 40 g/l water. Abstract

The development of the root system of plants are a reflection of the level of physical and chemical soil properties. Siltpit (rorak) is a conservation pit of a certain size and layout which systematically provide benefits for soil remediation. Empty Fruit Bunch (Tan-kos) used as an alternative of organic fertilizer and also contribute to the improvement of physical - chemical and biological properties of soil. The experiments were conducted with four treatments and 4 replications . Experiment arranged in Radomized Completely Block Design with treatment EFB applications 750 kg on the soil surface with dimension 3mx2m (T0); siltpit size 3 m x 0.66 m x 0.75 m + 750 kg EFB (T1); siltpit size 5 m x 0.6 m x 0.5 m + 750 kg EFB (T2) and siltpit size 5 m x 1 m x 0.3 m + 750 kg EFB (T3). T2 treatment gives the most influence on the increase in the CEC of 4.8 cmol / kg then T0 of 2.8 cmol / kg. Improvement  P-dissolved  is found in T3 4:06 ppm followed by T0 3.96 ppm, K-total increase 0.75 cmol/kg and K-available in 0.9 cmol/kg.T0 treatment effect significant difference in diameter, wet weight, dry weight and root length tertiary depth of I, II and III. While treatment pit + 750 kg EFB (T1,T2 and T3) did not significant impact and significantly influence on the treatment T2 in parameter tertiary root length of 27.93 mm in depth III. Abstract

This study aim to get the best combination of fertilizer and various of Pineapple  (Ananas comosus (L) Merr)between Immature Palm Oil Plantation. Studied lasted from July to October 2013 at the Experimental land Rimbo Panjang, University of Riau. The material used are sucker and slip, varieties Queen and NPK Mutiara fertilizer (16-16-16). The study arranged experimentally using Randomized Block Design (RBD) first factor is NPK fertilizer dose treatment, second factor are sources of shoots T1 (sucker) andT2 (slip). Parameter observed is quantitative parameters consist by added height of      plant (cm), added leaves length of plant (cm), added leavesamount of plant (sheet), added leaveswidthof plant (cm) and leaves vastof plant (cm2). Data were analyzed using theF test and test of Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) 5% level.The results shows that a combination giving NPK fertilizer and sources shoots treatment significantly affected to all parameters. Aplication NPK fertilizer 10 g/plant with a source of sucker is the best combination for growing pineapple on peat land. Keywords: Pineapple, source of bud, dose of fertilizer

Abstract

The research aimed to study the application of the combination of compost of palm oil empty fruit bunches (POEFB) with boiler ash and oil palm mill liquid waste (LW) of oil palm industry to growth and yield of soybean as intercropping in oil palm plantation that have been produced in the peat land. The research was conducted at oil palm plantation (6 years old) at Kualu Nenas Village, Kampar Regency, Riau Province from August to November 2013. The research used Randomize Complete Block Design (RCBD) consist of seven treatment (A = 1.44 kg compost of POEFB + 144 g boiler ash/plot, B = 1.44 kg compost of POEFB + 288 g boiler ash/plot, C = 1.44 kg compost of POEFB + 432 g boiler ash/plot, D = 1.44 kg compost of POEFB + 8.64 ml LW/plot, E = 1.44 kg compost of POEFB + 144 g boiler ash + 8.64 ml LW/plot, F = 1.44 kg compost of POEFB + 288 g boiler ash + 8.64 ml LW/plot dan G = 1.44 kg compost of POEFB + 432 g boiler ash + 8.64 ml LW/plot) each treatment repeated three times. Parameters observed were plant height, number of prymary branches, number of pods, a percentage of pods pithy, flowering age, dry weight of seed and dry weight of 100 seeds. The result showed that the application of 1.44 kg compost of POEFB + 288 g boiler ash + 8.64 ml LW/plot (F) increase plant height, number of pods, a percentage of pods pithy and dry weight of seed significantly compared with the another treatments, but not significantly with the application of 1.44 kg compost of POEFB + 432 g boiler ash + 8.64 ml LW/plot (G) Key Word : Compost Palm of Bunches, Boiler Ash, Liquid Waste, Peat Land, Soybean

Abstract

Research giving of filter cake on sawdust medium for the cultivation of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) aims to increase the production of oyster mushroom to the best, and determine the best dose will increase the production. This research has been conducted in the village of Kubang raya of Siak Hulu Kampar district in Riau Province in July through September of 2013 this research was carried out experimentally using a complete randomized design (CRD) comprising administering a dose of 5 treatments in the filter cake: Without giving a dry filter cake (control), giving 20 g / baglog, 40 g / baglog, 60 g / baglog, 80 g / baglog. The data obtained were further tested by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. Results of analysis of variance showed that administration can affect the filter cake and enhance the enjoyment of the production. The use of a dose of 60 g of filter cake on sawdust medium gave the highest production of oyster mushrooms is 149.33 g / baglog. Abstract

The objectives of this research to evaluate potential yield of 8 genotypes of chili which grown on peatland. This research conducted for 6 months from January to June 2013 in peatland experimental station, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Rimbo Panjang, Kampar. Randomized block design which is consist of 8 treatment and 3 replications was used in this experiment. Variable those observed were flowering date, plant height, stem diameter, dichotomus height, canopy width, harvesting date, weight per fruit, fruit length, fruit diameter and weight of fruit per plant. Data obtained from the observations were statistically analyzed by using analysis of variance, and mean separation by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level 5%. The results showed that genotypes of chili had good adaptability and yield. Genotype IPB C19 has a higher fruit weight per plant is higher than Gada. Genotype IPB C111 did not significantly different compare to TM999 on fruit weight per plant.   Keyword : yield evaluation, chili, peatland

Abstract

The objective of the research wasto determine the influence of someAzolla liquid fertilizerconcentrationsand to get the best concentration on the growth of oil palm seeds in main nursery. Research was carried out in land of Plant Laboratory – Agriculture Faculty University of Riau, from February to May 2014. This research arranged experimentaly using Completely Randomized Design (CRD), consist by 5 treatments and each treatment was repeated 4 times then obtained 20 experimental units. The treatment given was concentration of Azolla liquid fertilizer, consist of: A1 = concentration 50 g/l, A2 = concentration 75 g/l, A3 = concentration 100 g/l, A4 = concentration 125 g/l and A5 = concentration 150 g/l. Parameters measured were the increment of seeds height, increment of leaves number, increment of stump diameter, leaf width, root length, root volume, crown root ratio and seeds dry weight. Data were analyzed statistically using ANOVA and further test followed by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. The results showedthat giving some concentration of Azollaliquidfertilizerongrowthof oil palm seedssignificantly effect onallparametersobserved. The best resultsfor the growthof oil palm seedsshown by giving 125 g/l concentrationof Azolla liquidfertilizer. Keywords: Azolla liquid fertilizer, oil palm, main nursery

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness and best compound of banana corm local microorganism on rice straw composting forPB-42 riceplant (Oryza sativa L.) with SRI method. This research conducted at the Department of Agrotechnology Greenhouse Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau in May to November 2013. Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 5 replications used in this experiment. The treatments consisted compound of banana corm local microorganism and water is M1 = 1 :6, M2 = 1 : 5,  M3 = 1 : 4, M4 = 1 : 3. Data were analyzed using analysis of varianceand mean separations with Duncan's Multiple Range Test at the 5% level. The parameters measured were the plant height, tillerstotal number, number of productive tillers, panicle emergence time, panicle length, plant dry weight, percentage of fillinggrain, weight of 1000 filled grain and milled dry grain per hill. The results showed that administration of banana corm local microorganism has not significantly affectedto all parameters. The compound of banana corm local microorganism   and water of 1:6 dilutionnot significantly affect on growth and yield compare to compost with the relatively higher levels of dilution chemical properties treatments except on panicle emergence time.   Keywords : Banana corm local microorganism, rice plant, rice straw compost, SRI method
