Abstract

Dragon fruit (Hylocereus costaricensis) is a type of cactus plants are relatively new in Indonesian society . Dragon fruit cultivation in Indonesia can develop properly due to the tropical climate in Indonesia which provide appropriate environmental conditions for dragon fruit to growth. The research was conducted at Experimental  Farm  Agricultural Faculty  University  of  Riau, Pekanbaru from December 2013 to March 2014. The research used a completely randomized  design  with  four treatments and five replication. Each experimental unit consisted of 3 plants and 2 plants were sampled. The treatment consist of zero cow urine (U0), cow urine 25% concentration (U1), cow urine 50% concentration (U2) and cow urine 75% concentration (U3). Parameters measured were the time appeared shoots, number of shoots, shoot length, root length increase, increase the number of roots, root volume, fresh weight and dry weight of seedlings. The results showed that the difference in cow urine concentrations give a different effect on the growth of the origin of dragon fruit plant propagating cuttings. Cow urine concentrations of 50% tend to give the best effect at the time appeared shoots, number of shoots, root number, root length, root volume, fresh weight and dry weight of dragon fruit plant propagating material. Abstract

The purpose of the research was to determine influence of water volume and chicken manure on the growth and crop production of sweet corn and see the best treatment. Research was carried out in gauze house, experimental garden Faculty Agriculture University of Riau. The research carried out by using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of two factors and three replications is the first faktor is the volume of water: water volume 1400 ml, 1050 ml of water, volume and water volume  of 700 ml. the secand faktor of chicken manure that is: with second commission of chicken manure 75 g/polybag, chicken manure 150 g/polybag, chicken manure and 225 g/polybag. Parameter is the height of the plants, the emergence of the male flowers, the riset of female flowers, hervisting, weight percob, cob length, cob diameter, cob weight without cornhusk. Treatment volume of 1400 ml of  water and 225 g of chicken manure/polybag give the best effecton weight cob without cornhusk is 439,8 9/polybag. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify and analyze attributes of oyster mushroom product. And to analyze  the importance and performance of mix product attribute of oyster mushroom marketing. The experiment was conducted in Business Center Unit of Riau Mushroom Cultivation (Unit Usaha Pusat Budidaya Jamur Riau (Pusdamuri). Questionnaires were conducted in a place that became the location Pusdamuri oyster mushrooms marketing. The method that used to determine the respondents  is  non-probability sampling. Then continued with convenience sampling.  The result showed that the results of Importance of Performance Analisys there are three attributes in Quadrant I (top priority). The attribute is the price, packaging design and availability. In Quadrant II, (feat maintain) there are six attributes, first taste, second nutritional value, benefit, color, location, and last  advertising and promotion. Attributes that are in Quadrant III (low priority) are the shelf life, the content (volume) of packaging and packaging labels. In Quadrant IV (redundant) there are two attributes, namely size and customer service. Based on Customer Statisfaction Index (CSI), CSI is known that the value of 70.67% in the range of 66% - 80.99% which means that the respondent has satisfied the performance conducted by Pusdamuri (Centre for Mushroom Cultivation Riau). Consumers activities in purchase of oyster mushrooms can be used as input for producers and retailers to adjust to the demand (conformance to requirment).   Keywords: product attributes, Importance Performance Analisys,CSI

Abstract

The research purpose tounderstandingthe weedcontrol anddominant weeds of palm oil (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) plantation. The research was carried out in the village of Bangko Pusako Kabupaten Rokan Hilir from May until July 2014 with method survey, analyzed by quantitative statistics and were present in deskriptive.The sample collection by purposively sampling based on land area and age of plant. The total sample taken were 42 samples or 10 percent of 416 farmers palm oil and for the type of dominant weed done in vegetation with analysis quadrantmethod.Parameters that observed wereorigin of seed, cropping pattern distance, distance cropping, the population of plants , weeds dominant type , weed management techniques, rotation management, kind of a herbicide and dose of herbicide.The research results show farmers sample used weeds management technique with chemically and mechanically 76,2 % rate and 47.7 % farmers usedrotation management for 6 times a year, 52,38 % farmers used herbicide with active compoud  paraquat-dimethylamine, 52,3 % farmers used3l / hadose while K2I farm also do the same thing, but the management carry out twice a year. The  weeds dominant type in K2I and people farmisSpotaneum saccharum L. (shaken) 56,25 %. Keywords : weed control, dominant weed type, palm oil

Abstract

This research aims to determine the interaction between rice straw compost fertilizer application by setting the frequency of watering, as well as determining the best treatment combination for the production of lettuce. The research was conducted in the greenhouse Faculty of Agriculture University of Riau, Pekanbaru on April to June 2013. Research was carried out experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) arranged as factorial consisting of 2 factors, 3 replicates and each experimental unit consisted of 3 plants with two plants used as a sample. The first factor is the level of compost dose, namely: (without compost, compost 10 ton/ha, compost 15 ton/ha, compost 20 ton/ha, compost 25 ton/ha, compost 30 ton/ha). As a second factor is the frequency of watering water, namely: (watered 2 times 1 day, watered 1 times 1 day, 1 watered 2 times a day, 1 watered 3 times a day). Data were analyzed statistically by analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed test by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%. The results showed that the combined treatment of 10 tons / ha of compost with water watering frequency 2 × 1 day deliver the best results for plant fresh weight and leaf area.   Keyword: Lettuce, Rice straw fertilizer compost, Watering frequency

Abstract

Agarwood plantis a commodity timber forest products that have high value and become a mainstay Indonesian export products. To support the process of cultivation of agarwood plant isrequired the provision of quality seeds and planting medium is supported by the availability of good and nutrient availability thar enough for the growth of seedlings. The research aim is to know the effect of the interaction of palm oil empty fruit bunch compost and NPK fertilizer and to get the best treatment for the growth of agartwood plant seedling. Theresearch was conducted at the experimental gardenAgricultural Faculty, University of Riau, Pekanbaru from May to September 2014. The research carried out experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) factorial consisting of two factors: palm oil empty fruit bunch compost and NPKfertilizer. The first factor is the dose of palm oil empty fruit bunch compost consists of 4 levels, that is: K0 (without palm oil empty fruit bunch compost), K1 (1/3 part of the media), K2 (1/2 part of the media), K3 (2/3 sections of the media). The second factor is the NPK fertilizer application consists of 4 levels: M0 (without NPK fertilizer), M1 (1 g/plant), M2 (2g/plant), M3 (3 g/plant). The results showed that the giving of palm oil empty fruit bunch compost and NPK fertilizer to agarwoor seedling gavethe best effect on fertilizer application of palm oil empty fruit bunch compost2/3 of the media with NPK 2 g/plants against accretion parameters plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, stems and broad dry weight .   Keyword: Agarwood seedling, palm oil empty fruit bunch compost, NPK fertilizer

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the effect of interaction giving sludge and cow urine to the growth of oil palm seeds (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) and get a suitable combination for the growth of oil palm seedlings in main nursery. The research was conducted from May to September 2014. The research used to completely randomized design (CRD) factorial consisting of two factors. The first factor is the sludge consists of 4 levels: sludge dose of 0 g/plant, sludge dose of 75 g/plant, sludge dose of 100 g/plant and sludge dose of 125 g/plant. The second factor is the concentration of cow urine consists of 4 levels: cow urine concentrations of 0 %/plant, cow urine concentration of 5 %/plant, cow urine concentration of 10 %/plant and cow urine concentration of 10 %/plant. From two factors then obtained 16 combined treatment with 3 replications. Parameters measured were increase of seed high, increase of midrib number, increase of hump circumference, root crown ratio and dry seeds weight. The data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by DNMRT further test at 5% level. The results of the research showed that application sludge and cow urine on oil palm seed there is interaction between giving of sludge and cow urine on increase of seed high and increase of hump circumference. Combination treatment of sludge dose with 125 g/plant and cow urine concentration of 5 %/plant showed the best results of all observed parameters. Keywords: Sludge, cow urine, oil palm, main nursery

Abstract

The total area of oil palm plantations in Indonesia about 7 million in Riau which is about 3 million ha. Land has not been optimally covered by oil palm crop of young (aged approtimately three years), so that they can be planted with soybean as intercrops in oil palm plantation . The research was conducted in the village of Kualu Nenas, District of Kampar, Riau Province. The research aims to study to the effeet of the application of mixture of compost of oil palm empty fruit bunches, boiler ash, liquid waste of palm oil mill and trichoderma  growth and yields of soybean  in oil palm plantations on peatland. The study was conducted through an experimen using randomized block dising (RBD), which consists of 8 treatment A : Without treatment, B : 5 tons of compost of OPEFB/ha, C : 5 tons of compost of OPEFB + 0.5 tons of boiler ash/ha, D : 5 tons of compost of OPEFB + 1 boiler ash/ha, E : 5 tons of compost of OPEFB + 1,5 boiler ash/ha, F : 5 tons of compost of OPEFB + 0.5 tons of boiler ash + 10 kg trichoderma + 30 L liquid waste of palm oil mill/ha, G : 5 tons of compost of OPEFB + 1 ton boiler ash + 10 kg trichoderma + 30 L liquid waste of palm oil mill/ha, H : 5 tons of compost of OPEFB + 1.5 tons boiler ash + 10 kg trichoderma + 30 L liquid waste of palm oil mill/ha, each repeated three times. The parameters observed were plant height, number of primary branches number of pods, pod percentage pithy. The results showed that treatment G : 5 tons of compost of OPEFB + 1 ton boiler ash + 10 kg trichoderma + 30 L liquid waste of palm oil mill/ha, increased plant height and number of pods significantly compared with without treatment, but not significantly different to the parameter number of primary branches, days to flowering and pod percentage pithy. Abstract

This research is conducted to compare the physical characteristic change between burnt & unburnt peat soil and also to understand its change on both seven days & four months after burn. This research is held in “Teluk Binjai Village, District ofTeluk Meranti, Regency ofPelalawan” and its physical analysis is held at Soil Science Lab of Riau University Agricultural Faculty on January until June 2014. Moreover, it uses survey method to determine its location and purposive sampling for sampling method. Both peat soil sampling & field observation are done twice. First sampling is conducted on seven days after burn and the second sampling is done four months later (after burn). Its data analyzed by using descriptive statistic and presented on tables & graphs. In addition, the observed parameters are Particle Size Distribution (PSD), water holding-capacity, Bulk Density (BD), Particle Density (PD), porosity and permeability. The results show that fire on peat land causes physical characteristic change on peat soil with the sign of decreasing on water holding-capacity, porosity and permeability. Meanwhile, both Bulk Density (BD) and Particle Density (PD) are increasing on the burnt rather than the unburnt one. Physical characteristic change of peat soil from seven days until four months after burn causes re-increasing on water holding-capacity, porosity and permeability at the depth of 10-20 cm. Moreover, there are increasing on fine particle size (88 µm and 106 µm) at the depth of 10-30 cm and increasing on both Bulk Density (BD) & Particle Density (PD) at the depth of 20-25 cm. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of NPK fertilizer tablets Sigi and get the best dosage of pineapple crop production. Research has been conducted in the community garden Desa kualu Nenas Kampar District  Riau Province began in February 2014 to June 2014. The study was carried out experiments using arandomized block design (RBD) consists of 4 treatments and 6 replications, each experimental unit consisted of 6 plant. The treatment given is without fertilizer NPK (P0), NPK fertilizer Sigi 1 tablet ( 11.869 g)(P1), NPK fertilizerSigi 2 tablets (23.738 g)(P2), NPK Sigi 3 tablets (35,607 g) (P3). Parametersmeasured were age at flowering, harvesting, fruit length, fruit circle, fruit weight, plot production. The results showed that NPK fertilizer tablets Sigi different effect on the production of pineapple plants. NPK fertilizer as much as 3 Tablets Tablets Sigi equivalent to a dose of 35.607 g / plant. The best effect on flowering plant age, time of harvest, fruit length, fruit circle, fruit weight, yield per plot on pineapple plant varieties queen.  Keyword: pineapple, NPK tablet, production, peatland
