Abstract

Sweet corn (Zea mays Var saccarata Sturt) widely used because it has the nutrients and relatively high levels of sugar so it tastes sweeter than regular corn. Fertilization is one of the important agronomic aspects considered as closely related to the planting medium, for that is necessary for soil fertilization can provide nutrients needed by plants sweet corn so that the results can be maximized. This study aimed to determine the effect of vermicompost and NPK fertilizer on the growth and yield of sweet corn and get the best treatment effect. Research conducted at the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru. The study conducted from May to August 2014. The study was carried out experiments using a randomized block design (RBD) factorial consisting of two factors, namely vermicompost and NPK fertilizer with 3 replications. Parameters measured were plant height, harvest age, weight cornhusk cob, cob weight without husk, production per plot, circumference cob and length cob. The results showed vermicompost and NPK significantly affected all parameters were observed. Doses vermicompost 4 tons/ha and 250 kg NPK/ha gives the best results on the growth and yield of sweet corn compared with other treatments.   Keyword: NPK fertilizer, sweet corn, vermicompos

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the interaction of Bokashi fertilizer and cow urine as well as to get the best treatment on the growth of the cocoa plant. The research was conducted in August until November 2014 at the experimental garden of Agriculture, University of Riau, Bina Widya road 12.5 km Simpang Baru , Tampan, Pekanbaru.      This research was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors and three repetition. The first factor is bokashi (B) consisting of 4 levels,                    were: 0 g / polybag (B0), 50 g / polybag (B1), 75 g / polybag (B2), 100 g / polybag (B3) and the second factor is Urine (U) which Consist 4 levels, were: 0 ml / L of water (U0), 300 ml / L of water (U1), 400 ml / L of water (U2) and 500 ml / L of water (U3). Parameters measured were: seedling height, number of leaves, leaf area, stem circumference, seedling dry weight, and root crown ratio. Research results show that the interaction of Bokashi fertilizer and cow urine with the dose of 75 g / polybag and        400 ml / L of water, is the best dose to increase seedling height, leaf area, dry weight and root crown ratio. Bokashi fertilizer with 75 g / polybag is the best dose for increasing seedling height, number of leaves, leaf area, girth and dry weight. Cow urine application at the dose of 400 ml / L of water is the best dose for enhancing seedling height, leaf area and dry weight.   keyword: Cacao seedling, bokashi fertilizer, cow urine

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect comparison Red Yellow Podzolic soil and sludge as growing media and get the best comparison that can support the growth and development of cocoa seedlings. The research was carried out experiments with 5 treatments using completely randomized design (CRD), each treatment was repeated four times so that there are 20 experimental units and each unit consists of 6 seed experiment so that the total population are120 seedlings. Treatments are: yellow red podzolic land only, 3 parts yellow red podzolic land: 1 part sludge, 2 parts yellow red podzolic land: 1 part sludge, 1 part yellow red podzolic land: 1 part sludgeand 1 part yellow red podzolic land : 2 part sludge with a ratio of parts by weight. Parameters measured were higher seed, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf area,roots and crown ratio and dry of weight. Data were analyzed statistically and followed by Duncan's test at 5% level. Comparison of yellow red podzolic land with sludge as a soil media showed significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf area, canopy ratio of dry weight of roots and seeds. Treatment of 1 part ground yellow red podzolic land: 1 part sludge showed the best results for the growth and development of cocoa seedlings. Keywords :cocoa, yellow red podzolic land, sludge

Abstract

The objective of this researchis to determine the response of soybean (Glycine max (L) Merril) on application of ethepon under two planting spaces and to determine the concentration of ethepon application for a specific planting space.A field experiment was conducted by using split plot design, in which four levels of ethepon concentration ie; 100 ppm, 200 ppm, 300 ppm and control were assigned to main plots and two levels of planting spaces ie; 40 cm x 15 cm and   40 cm x 20 cm were assigned as subplot. Parameters observed were plant height 35 days after planting, number of primary branches, internode length of the main stem, plant growth rate, leaf area index, days to flowering, grain yield per plot , and 100-seed weight. The data were analyzed by analysis of variance andfurther investigated by least significant difference atp = 0.05. The result shown thatethepon application tented to shorten plant height and internodes height, lessen the number of primary branches, decreased leaf area and leaf area index, accelerate flowering dates and decreased grain yield per plot, but not for 100-seed weight. The implication drawn from this research was that application of ethepon could not be recommended for soybean.   Keywords: soybean, ethepon, plant spacing

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influences of extending compost dosage of Azolla microphylla for Cocoa seedlings and determine the Azolla microphylla compost dosage which produces growth is the best nursery cocoa seedlings compost. This research was conducted in the experiment stationthe Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru startied from November 2014 through April 2015. The research was conducted experimentally usingcompletely randomized design (CRD). The data were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance, followed by Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5%. Parameters observed were plant height (cm), stem diameter (mm), number of leaves (pieces), leaf area (cm²), seeds dry weight (g) and the ratio of crown roots (g). The results showed that application of Azolla microphylla compost on cocoa seedlings significantly affected stem diameter and has no significant effect against high seedling, number of leaves, leaf area,seed dry weight and root crown ratio, however there was an increasing trend in growth of high seedling, number of leaves, leaf area, the weight of dry seed and root crown ratio without the application of Azolla. microphylla compost. Abstract

Kailan included in a group of vegetables that have high economic value. Kailan low production occurred due to good soil physical, chemical and biological of soil due to the loss of nutrients in the soil. The addition of nutrients in the soil to increase crop production kailan can be done by way of fertilization. Fertilization can be done with use of organic fertilizers and inorganic fertilizers. The aims of this research are to determine the effect of some types fertilizer on the growth and yield of kailan and to obtain the best dose of treatment. This research was conducted experimentally by using completely randomized design (CRD) factorial with consisted of 5 treatments and 3remedial. The result of research show suggest that administering some kind of fertilizer for crops kailan significant on plant height, plant fresh weight, weight of plants suitable for consumption and the ratio of the root crown , but not significant on the number of leaves. NPK fertilizer with a dose of 0.025 kg/m2 is the best treatment to improve growth and crop production kailan.   Key Word :Some types of fertilizer, Kailan

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the interaction of water supply, drip irrigation systems and complementary liquid fertilizer concentration is right to promote the growth and production of the red pepper plant. The completely randomized design (CRD) was used with 2 factors and 3 replications. The Honestly Significant Different test (HSD) at the 5 % level was used for means separation. The first factor is the provision of water consisting of A1 = Volume of water 2,400 ml; A2 = Volume of water 1,800 ml; A3 = volume of water 1,200 ml of water. The second factor is the complementary liquid fertilizer comprising P0 = 0 cc/l of water; P1 = 2 cc/l of water; P2 = 4 cc/l of water. Correlation test used fordetermining the relationship between all variables. Results showed that both treatments gave significant effect on the variable crown width and weight of the fruit crop but not on th significant on plant height, height of dichotomous, stem diameter, flowering age, harvesting age, length of fruit, fruit diameter and weight per fruit. The provision of water 2400 ml /plant/day and a complementary liquid fertilizer 2 cc/l of water can promote the growth of the canopy width and the provision of water 2400 ml/day/plant and complementary liquid fertilizer 4 cc/l of water can increase the weight of the fruit crop. The main influence water supply does not affect significantly affected all variables observation. The main influence of complementary liquid fertilizer 4 cc/l water significantly affects the variable fruit weight per plant.   Keywords: Drip irrigation, fertilizer liquid complements, red chili

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the storage material and the volume of irrigation water on the growth of oil palm seedlings in the Main Nursery and have been implemented in the Technical Implementation Unit of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from June to October 2014. The study used completely randomized design (CRD) with two factorial factors and three replications. The first factor is the use of water-storage material (A), which consists of 4 levels: A0: Without the use of water-retaining material A1: Hydrogel 25 g / 10 kg soil, A2: Cocopeat 500 g / 10 kg soil, A3: Trunk bananas 50 g / 10 kg of the ground and the second factor is the volume of irrigation (V), which consists of three levels, namely: V1: 1 liter / day / bib it V2: 1.5 liters / day / seed V3: 2 liters / day / seed. The results showed the use of water storage material and the volume of water giving no real effect on seedling height increase, in the number of leaves, wrap accretion hump, dry weight of seed and seedling quality indices but significant effect on the ratio of the root crown. Hydrogel combination of 25 g / 10 kg soil and water provision volume 1 liters / day / seed tends to further increase in the number of leaves, wrap accretion hump seed, seedling dry weight, and seed quality index, while the combination of cocopeat 500 g / 10 kg soil and volume the provision of water 2 liters / day / seed tends to further increase the high accretion canopy ratios of seed and seedling roots. The growth of oil palm seedlings tend to be better with the use of water storage hydrogel material and cocopeat. The growth of oil palm seedlings tend to be better than the entire treatment volume of water provision.   Keywords: Palm oil, water-retaining materials, water

Abstract

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is one of the higher multi-purpose crop in the plantation sector in Indonesia, especially Riau Province. To support the growth and development of oil palm seedlings needed a good planting medium that serves as a place of growth and development of roots and place the plant absorb nutrients and water. One of them is the provision of boiler ash and phosphate as well as utilize the peat soil as a medium. This study aims to determine the effect of boiler ash and rock phosphate on the growth of palm oil (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) in the main nursery. The design used in this research is completely randomized design (CRD) factorial consisting of two factors. The first factor is the provision of boiler ash treatment with 4 levels. The second factor is the natural phosphate treatment with 4 levels and each unit is repeated 3 times. The study states that increased doses of boiler ash and rock phosphate given to plant oil palm seedlings showed no significant effect on plant height increase, in the number of leaves, the increase in diameter tubers, plant dry weight and ratio root crown.   Keywords: Abu Boiler, Phosphate, Oil Palm
