Abstract

Application of ethepon on soybean grown under densely population is expected to enhance plant growth and increase assimilate translocation to seed. Ethrel 40 PGR is chemical compound containing ethepon,  when it is in plant organ would be converted to ethylene and may accelerate flowering. This study aims to determine the effect of ethepon on soybean crop production under two different planting spaces. A field experiment was conducted by using split plot design, in which four levels of ethepon concentration ie; 100 ppm, 200 ppm, 300 ppm, and control were assigned to main plot and two levels of planting spaces ie; 40 cm x 15 cm and 40 cm x 20 cm were assigned as subplot. Traits observed were plant height, days to flower, days to harvest, filled pod numbers per plant, seeds number per plant, grain yield m² and 100-seed weight. The results showed that applicqation of ethepon shorten plant height, accelerate day to flowering faster but delay harvesting time at planting space of 40 cm x 15 cm and 40 cm x 20 cm. Yield components such as number of filled pods per plant and grain yiel per unit area were lower due to application of ethepon for both planting spaces.  The implication drawn from this research was that application of ethepon could not be recommended for soybean. Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of water level and organic mulch on CO2 emissions of oil palm in peatland. Research was conducted at the oil palm plantation of ​​PT. Teguh Karsa Wana Lestari (TKWL) in Buantan Besar village, Bungaraya, Siak District, from October 2014 to February 2015. This research used Split Plot Design, consist of 2 factors. The first factor is the groundwater surface depth as main plot, were: water level depth 50 cm, 70 cm dan 90 cm. The second factor is application organic mulch as sub plot, were: without giving organic mulch, giving palm oil empty fruit bunch (POEFB), palm frond and Mucuna bracteata. Therefore obtained 12 combinations of treatments and 3 replications, so obtained 36 units experiment. Parameters observed were the CO2 emmisions, soil temperature and soil water content. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The data obtained were further tested by Least Significant Diference (LSD) at 5 % level. Based on the result it can be concluded that is not significantly effect on CO2 emissions. The water level and organic mulch affected on soil temperature and soil water content. The results of linear correlation analysis showed the depth of groundwater surface factors, organic mulch and soil temperature affected CO2 emissions rate. Soil water content was not significantly affect on CO2 emissions rate, it shows by the low of correlation coefficient (r).   Keywords : CO2 emissions, water level, organic mulch

Abstract

This researh aimed to determine the effect of water level and organic mulch on physical and chemical properties of peatland in palm oil plantation. Research was conducted for four months which is started on November 2014 to February 2015 at palm oil plantation of ​​PT. Teguh Karsa Wana Lestari (TKWL) in Buantan Besar village, sub district Bungaraya, Siak District. By used 8 years old of palm oil plant. This research used Split Plot Design, consist of 2 factors. The first factor is the water level as main plot, were: the level of 40-50 cm water, 60-70 cm water level and 80-90 cm water level. The second factor is giving organic mulch as sub plot, were: without giving organic mulch, giving palm oil empty fruit bunch (POEFB), palm frond and Mucuna Bracteata. Therefore obtained 12 combinations of treatments and 3 replications, so obtained 36 units experiment. Parameters observed were physical and chemical properties. Data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and were further tested by Least Significant Diference (LSD) at5 % level. Based on statistical data obtained non significant effects by water level and organic mulch in physical and chemical properties of peatland. The result of single factor by organic mulch obtained significant effects in physical and chemical properties of peatland. Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of sludge palm oil waste on the growth of cocoa seedling (Theobroma cacao L.) on medium subsoil Dystrudepts and get the best dose. This research was conducted in October 2014 until January 2015 in the experimental station on the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Bina Widya Campus Km 12.5 Simpang Baru Village, Tampan District, Pekanbaru. This research was conducted by using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments sludge palm oil waste are: S0 = 0 g/polybag, S1 = 50 g/polybag, S2 = 100 g/polybag, S3 = 150 g/polybag, S4 = 200 g/polybag and S5 = 250 g/polybag. Parameters measured were seedling height, stum circle, number of leaves, leaf area widest, root volume, the shoot root ratio and seedling dry weight. The results of research that using of sludge palm oil waste dose of 200 g/polybag to 250 g/polybag on medium subsoil Dystrudepts showed growth of cocoa seedling is best that indicated of increase the seedling height, stum circle, number of leaves, leaf area widest, root volume, the shoot root ratio and seedling dry weight. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the best dose interaction and liquid organic fertilizer and compost rind cocoa to the growth of oil palm seedlings in Main nursery. The research was conducted from September 2014 to January 2015. The research was conducted using a completely randomized design consisting of two factors and three replications. The first factor is the provision of liquid organic reeds fertilizer with 4 dose level consisting (0, 50, 75 and 100 ml / 1 liter of water. The second factor is the provision of compost rind cocoa with 4 dose level consisting (0, 50, 100 and 150 g / 8 kg soil (37.5 tons / ha). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by a further test DNMRT at 5% level. Parameters measured were high increment, in the number of leaves, tubers circumference, crown root ratio and seedling dry weight. The results showed that administration of a liquid organic fertilizer 50 ml / l and compost rind cocoa 150 g / polybag, showed increased growth of oil palm seedlings to the seedling height parameters, number of leaves, dry weight of seedlings and did not show an increase in the circumference hump and the ratio of the root crown   Keywords : oil palm, liquid organic fertilizer, compost rind cocoa

Abstract

Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) is a plantation crop that has a high economic value, but low productivity and quality of cocoa in Indonesia due to substantial losses. One of many efforts we can do to improve the quality and quantity of cocoa production is through improving the quality of seeds. Fertilizing is one of important factor on the growth of cocoa seedling. Application of organic material as fertilizer can give a good effect for plants. One of many organic material that can be used is a mixture of vermicompost. This study aim is to determine the effectof vermicompost on the growth of cocoa seedlings and get the best doses for the growth of cocoa seedlings. This research was conducted in the experimental field of Agriculture Faculty, University of Riaufrom September to December 2014. This research was carried out using completely randomized design (CRD), which consisted of 4 treatments with 3 replications. The treatments consisted of :(K1) without vermicompost/plant, (K2) 15 gvermicompost/plant, (K3) 25 gvermicompost/plant, (K4) 35 gvermicompost/plant. The results showed that the giving of vermicompost on cocoa seedlings effected on seedling height, number of leaves, girth and leaf area. Giving vermicompost 25 g/plant the best results on the growth of cocoa seedlings.   Keyword: vermicompost, organic material, cocoa seedling

Abstract

The cultivation of plants melon in Riau based on condition growing is in line, but there were several obstacles such as the land in riau levels of fertility land which is low.This research aims to determine the combination of doses of an empty oil palm bunches of compost and fertilizer n, p, k the best against growth and melon crop production (Cucumis melo L.) in the trial gardenFaculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. This research was conducted on February 2015 until June 2015. The research has been carried out experimentally in the form of Randomized Completely Design Factorial 2 x 4. The first factor is the dose compost of  oil palm empty fruit bunches consist of two levels and the second factor is the dose of N (ZA) fertilizer, P (TSP) fertilizer and K (KCL) fertilizer consist of four levels. Data analyzed by ANOVA and further tested using by Duncan`s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the level of 5%.parameter made were higher plants, diameter of stem, appears the male flowers and female flowers, diameter of fruits, weight of fruits per sampel and weightof fruits per plot. The results showed the treatment compost of oil palm empty fruit bunches and N, P, K fertilizer significantly affect on the plants height, diameter of stem, appears the male flowers and female flowers but not significant on the diameter of fruits, weight of fruits per sampel and weightof fruits per plot. The application compost of oil palm empty fruit bunches with dose of 20 tons/ha and ZA fertilizer 120 kg/ ha, TSP fertilizer 80 kg/ha, KCl 200 kg/ ha is the best dose in order to enchance growth and production of melon. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the best combination of NPKMg  fertilizer and this application interval of supplementary liquid fertilizer on the growth of palm oil seedling in the main nursery. The study was conducted in factorial experiment in the form of 4 × 4 by using a complete randomized design (CRD), which consists of two factors. The first factor is the application of fertilizer NPKMg  with 4 levels, namely: M0: Without Fertilizer NPKMg, M1: Fertilizer NPKMg 4 g/polybag/week, M2: Fertilizer NPKMg             5 g/polybag/weeks, M3: Fertilizer NPKMg 6 g/polybag/week. The second factor is the interval application of Complementary Liquid Fertilizer with 4 levels, namely: F0: Without Complementary Liquid Fertilizer, F1: 10 days, F2: 20 days, F3: 30 days. Such experiments are 16 treatment and each treatment was repeated 3 times so that there are 48 units experiment. Each experimental unit consisted of two plants so wholly obtained 96 plants. Parameters measured were the increase of seedling height, the number of leaves, the increase in diameter stump, the ratio of crown roots and dry weight. The results showed that the combination of NPKMg fertilizer application 4 g/polybag/week and the time interval of 10 days each application complementary liquid fertilizer is the best treatment.   Keywords: Palm Oil, NPKMg Fertilizer, Complement Liquid Fertilizer

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of the wild betel leaf extract in inhibiting the grow thof fungi G.boninense.This reserach was conducted experimentally by using completely randomized design, which consists of 5 treatments and 4 replications, in each unit there were two petris dishes in order to obtain 40 units of treatment. The treatment being tested is the use of multiple concentrations of extracts of betel leaf meal ie 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 g / l. Data were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance and furthertested withDuncan's Multiple Test New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at 5%. The results showed that the concentration of powder extract of wild betel significantly affected G. boninense and gave the different affected of fungi G. boninense. Powder extract of wild betel leaf at concentration 50 g/l water gave a better ability to control the fungus G. boninense namely 41,83 %.   Keyword : Stem root, G. boninense, P. aduncum, the concentration of leaf powder extract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of giving PPC interaction with different frequencies when not flooded in the medium periodically flooded peat on the growth of seedlings of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.). This research has been carried on in the greenhouse UPT Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru, from November 2013 to February 2014. This study used a completely randomized factorial design consisting of two factors and three replications. The first factor is the concentration of PPC consists of 4 levels K0: no PPC, K1: 0.2%, K2: 0.4%, K3: 0.6% and the second factor spraying frequency F1 PPC Consist 3 levels: 1 times, F2: 2 times, F3: 3 times. Parameters those observed: change of plant height, increase the number of leaves, stem diameter, length of the primary root, root number, root volume, the ratio of the shoot root ratio. The data mean separation use DMRT at %. The results show that there is interaction between the concentration and frequency of PPC spraying were the parameters plant height, primary root length, shoot root ratio. A PPC concentration of 0.4% and 0.6% to add 3.17 to 3.78 of the leaves, concentrations of 0.4% and 0.6% to add 9.05 cm to 9.40 cm in diameter rod, concentrations of 0, 4% and 0.6% to add 15.22 to 16.55 strands strands, number of primary roots, a PPC concentration of 0.2% to 0.6% shows the root volume amounted to 95.22 ml to 98.88 ml.   Keywords: oil palm, flooding, complementary liquid fertilizer and peat
