This research used a completely randomized design (RAL) with one factor, five treatments and 3 replications. The treatment given was different concentrated of probiotic in feed. Consisting of: control (without the addition of probiotic), P1 (addition probiotic of 2 ml/kg feed), P2 (4 ml/kg of feed), P3 (6 ml/kg of feed) and P4 (8 ml/kg of feed). Feed protein content of 28,33%. The results showed addition of probiotic 2, 4, 6, and 8 ml into artificial feed did not give a significant effect (P>0,05) on the feed efficiency, retention of protein, specific growth rate, and survival rate fingerling of baung. The best treatment contained in P4 (8 ml/kg of feed) with 53,92% digestibility of feed, feeding efficiency 26,46%, protein retention 22,43% and the specific growth rate of 2,05%.Keywords: Probiotic, artificial feed, Hemibagrus nemurus

Abstract

This research was conducted on April 4 to June 1 2015 at Fish Nutrition Laboratory and Aquaculture Technology Laboratory, Fisheries and Marine Sciences Faculty, Riau University. This research aimed to determine the effect of probiotic supplementation in artificial diets on feed digestibility, feed efficiency, protein retention and growth of Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Completely Randomized Design (CRD), was used with five treatments and three replications. The treatments were probiotic supplementation in diets with different concentration i.e : P0 (without probiotic supplementation in diets), P1 (probiotic sapplementation of 5 mL/kg diets), P2 (probiotic sapplementation of 10 mL/kg diets), P3 (probiotic sapplementation of 15 mL/kg diets) dan P4 (probiotic sapplementation of 20 mL/kg diets). Probiotic given through artificial diets with 30% of crude protein content. The results showed P4 (probiotic sapplementation of 20 mL/kg diets) were the best treatment with feed digestibility of 50,74%, feed efficiency of 29,27%, protein retention of 45,63%, and specific growth rate of 3,64% for Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus).Key word : Diets, Digestibility, Growth, Oreochromis niloticus, Probiotic

Abstract

The research was conducted in June 2015. The sampling and measurement of water quality were carried out in Sergang and Marok Tua coastal waters of Singkep Island, Riau Archipelago. This study was aimed to determine the distribution of benthic foraminifera and relative sedimentation rate in both areas. Survey method was used by taking samples from 2 stasions with 3 replicates at each stasion. Samples of sediments were taken and then analyzed to determine the number of individual, species, distribution pattern, the relative sedimentation rate and sediment fractions. The results showed that the number of individual of benthic foraminifera found in the wartes of Sergang were higher than in Marok Tua. In contrary the number of species of benthic foraminifera found in Marok Tua were higher than in Sergang. Sediment fraction in Sergang was dominated by fine sand and very fine sand. Based on Morisita index, the pattern of benthic foraminifera distribution was categorized as cluster. Results of the relative sedimentation rate calculation were divided into high in Sergang coastal waters that has limited antrophogenic activities with an average of 83.06 %. Lower sedimentation rate was found in Marok Tua with an average of 67.47%. Marok Tua coastal waters has more antrophogenic activities such as fishing boat activities, residential as well as tin and sand mining areas. Keywords : benthic foraminifera, sedimentation, mining, antrophogenic

Abstract

The research was conducted in January 2015, in the coastal waters of Bela River Village, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. The research aimed to determine the correlation between abundance of windowpane oyster (Placuna sp) and characteristics of sediment in the coastal water of Bela River Village. The research used survey method by performing sampling at 3 stations and each station consisted of 4 sampling points. The stations were chosen from 3 different areas namely estuary, settlement area and mangrove environment. The result showed that abundance of windowpane oyster (Placuna sp) in the coastal water of Bela River Village in January was relatively small. The highest abundance on station 3 at the sampling point 2 was 6000 ind/ha. The lowest abundance on station 1 at the sampling point 3 was 1000 ind/ha. Sediment type of Bela River Village Coast was sandy mud. The correlation between abundance of windowpane oyster and sand fraction was negatively correlated with the value of the correlation coefficient r = 0.573. The correlation between abundance of windowpane oyster and mud fraction was positively correlated with the value of the correlation coefficient r = 0.568, and the correlation between abundance of windowpane oyster and organic materials was also positively correlated with the value of the correlation coefficient r = 0.864.Keywords: abundance, sediment, Sungai Bela, windowpane oyster

Abstract

The aim of this research was to isolate bacteria that had potential to act asprobiotics from the intestine to Oreochromis niloticus being cultured in RiauProvince; to investigate the optimum growth of at pH 2, 4 and 6; and to test theantibacterial potency of bacterial candidate probiotic against candidatepathogens Streptococcus agalactiae. The methods used in this research are Surveyand experiments methods were candidate in this research. Probiotic bacteria wasisolated from the inner wall of nila intestine. Twenty isolates were obtained fromfour fish. Identification based on physical, biochemical and morphologicalcharacters indicated that the isolates were classified into Bacillus andLactobacillus sp. Two of 20 isolate showed highest clear zone against S.agalactiae. They were isolate N-42 (22.7 mm), and N-62 (7.2 mm). Identificationby using API CHL 50 Kits identicated that the two isolates were chategorized intoLactobacillus paracasei spp NCFB with similirity of 82% dan 78%, respectivelyKey words: isolation, the bacteria candidates probiotics, Streptococcus agalactiae,Oreochromis niloticus

Abstract

This study aimed to isolate and to find the bacteria that potential as probiotic candidate from Giant Gouramy (Osphronemus gouramy Lac.) intestine cultivated in Riau provincial to be used to control MAS (Motile Aeromonas Septicemia) desease. Survey method and experiment method were conducted in this study. Bacteria was isolated from the fish intestine, and was inoculated on TSA and MRS agar at different pH level (2,4, and 6). The isolateis were indentified by morphological observation, physiological and biochemical test, and by using API 50 CHL test kit. Antibacterial activity of the isolated against Aeromonas hydrophila was tested by the paper disk diffusion method. Eighteen isolates of probiotic candidates were found, and indicated optimal growth in all pH treatment. Based on morphological, physiological test, and biochemichals test, three genus of bacteria were identified as Bacillus sp., Lactobacillus sp., and Bifidobacterium sp. The highest antibacterial activity against A. hydrophila was indicated by Isolate G63 with inhibition zone of 13,2 mm. Based API 50 CHL test kit the isolate was categorized in to Lactobacillus planatarum at similarity level of 84%.Keywords: Giant Gouramy, intestine, isolate, probiotic candidate
