Abstract

The camera is a tool for capturing waves of light reflected by an object, so that the object can be mapped in the form of an image on an image digital camera whose result is an image in digital form. Image processing is done with a digital computer so the image to be processed first is transformed into discrete quantities of gray level values at the points of the image element. Generally digital images are rectangular which has a certain width and height, which is usually expressed in the number of points or pixels (picture element or pixel). Image size can also be expressed physically in units of length (for example mm or inch). The determination of volume in the optical grading system can be done using laser triangulation method and wide measurement of 2D imagery, after that using a computer algorithm to get the results of 3D images to determine the volume of objects. Optical grading methods usually use the camera to obtain 2D images (area width) or use the weight of the product to estimate the real volume. An algorithm that combines triangulation (2D) techniques and 2D measurements can be used to construct 3D surfaces so that they can measure the volume of a product. Abstract

Rotary friction welding is one of mechanical welding by utilizing the friction of the two joint surfaces to cause heat which is used for the welding connection process. The friction surface afface the rate of heat flow generated from the torque and rotation an axial force (forging) to suppress the friction surfaceThe occurrence of pulses (shock power) at each stage of the friction welding process results in excessive load on the driving motor. In this study theshape and dimensions of the surface, namely the length of the constant champer, 4 mm with angular variations of 150, 300,450 as well as varying the addition of the flywheel to the drive system. Abstract

Chitosan is a derivative of chitin compounds used in the biomedical field. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of mixing speed on the degree of deacetylation of chitosan produced and can describe the reaction kinetics model with the Shrinking Core Model (SCM) approached. The procedure of research begins with the preparation of crab shells. Then crab shells were deproteinated with 3.5% NaOH, ratio 1:10 (b/v) for 2 hours and mixing speed by 150 rpm. After process of deproteinization, then demineralization with 1 N HCl, 1:15 (b / v) ratio for 1 hour and mixing speed of 150 rpm were carried out. The results of demineralization were chitin, then chitin was deacetylated with 55% NaOH, ratio 1:20 (b / v) at 120°C by varying the mixing speed by 100 rpm, 150 rpm and 200 rpm for 3 hours. Samples were taken every 15 minutes and increments of 10 mL, washed to neutral pH and dried. The degree of deacetylation of chitosan was analyzed by using the acid base titration method. The results showed that mixing speed was increased, the degree of deacetylation of chitosan also increased, each variation was 68,38%; 82,92% and 85,62%. The reaction kinetics model that was suitable for describing events that occur in chitosan synthesis were model 1, called diffusion through liquid film control. Abstract

The dynamics of graphic design activities are always closely related to technological developments and creative industry. In this digital era, people are more interested in visual information. Not a few of the people who are interested in pursuing the world of creative industries, one of them is graphic design. Graphic design is able to provide opportunities for the formation of new professions and create design ideas that support the progress of the creative industry. Pekanbaru is one of the right locations to built a Graphic Design Education and Training with the aim of attracting the interest of the community to develop creativity and skills in the field of graphic design. So that the community is able to create their potential to work and even compete competently. The Graphic Design Education and Training is a forum that accommodates inspiration and studies the science of graphic design as a skill, as well as a demand. Graphic design emphasizes expressive creativity, so Expressionist Architecture completes the identity and character of the building of Graphic Design Education and Training. Besides having educational goals, this design also displays visuals that are able to express imagination. The research methods used include field data collection, literature studies and empirical studies. The results of designed with the Infinity concept which adopted the form and meaning of the application principles from Expressionist Architecture. The attractive form of the building, the atmosphere of the form created by the use of building colors that inspire enthusiasm, and use of variative elements of material that play a role in conveying the message of the building's meaning. Abstract

Technologies in era of globalization had been improved especially for human health in biomedical. Magnetite/Hydroxyapatite composite is one of new promising idea as drug carrier for a drug delivery application. The purpose of this research is synthesis of the composite by using magnetite & hydroxyapatite, and analyze the effect of percentage of Fe and heating temperature to the characteristic of the composite were produced by using precipitation method. The powder of magnetite was dispersed in 50 ml of aquadest and mixed with Ca(NO3)2.4H2O for 30 minutes, and (NH4)2HPO4 added to the suspense. The pH of suspension was controlled by added NH4OH 25% until pH 11 with reaction for 120 minutes at 90ºC. The suspension was aged for 1 day, washed and separated the precipitated from suspense. The precipitate was dried until 1 day at 70ºC and ended with calcined the precipitate for 3 hours at 400ºC until powder of composite was collected. The powder of composite was characterized with XRD, and VSM. The higher heating temperature to 90ºC had affected higher crystallinity from 80.68% to 86.58%. However, the higher percentage of Fe had affected the crystal size of magnetite from 14.744 nm to 19.894 nm, with a good magnetization value was 8.81 emu/g. Based on the resulted from characterized of the composite, were concluded for the synthesis of composite magnetite/hydroxyapatite were succeeded and can be applied as a drug carrier in the drug delivery system. Abstract

The design of Islamic Boarding School is meant to fulfill Islamic education needs. This design aims to accommodate public education and Islamic facilities which there are education levels of Mts and MA. This Islamic Boarding School facility be able add a place of Islamic education in Lubuk Sikaping. This design uses the approach of Organic Architecture. The approach is applied partly or overall on buildings. Organic Architecture paying attention to the environment collaboration with the site. This approach is accordance with Islamic Boarding School which is Islamic Education, where Islam teaches about nature and environment.The same is true in education that learns from nature and environment. Root is the basic concept of design that can connect education, Islam and organic. The concept obtained by the site is in a relatively contoured area, which has the same characteristic of the root such as free, besides it in the site there are also many trees. Roots is the most prominent thing on the site. The form and some of the characteristics of the root are the inspiration in designing a boarding school. The elongated characteristic of the root is the inspiration for building masses which is analogous to rectangles, where of the nine building masses there is no similar shape. The nature of the root that rests on one point is the inspiration for circulation where the mosque becomes the focal point of all activities. Abstract

Dayak society defines the woven fabric is one of the results of the culture of Dayak communities. Expertise in a woven inherited hereditary through informal learning. At the end of the year 1980-90s it was already difficult to found caused lots of fabric already bought traded with foreigners and artisans weaving is also difficult to be found. The times affects the public to privately thought using the woven are considered antiquated and outdated. This is certainly very apprehensive when all results culture became locally extinct or even disappear, because it is not awake nor undertakes with properly. Therefore, the results of these Dayak weaving can be maintained and preserved, in order to be seen more to appreciate the culture and maintaining preserved by giving proper containers and in accordance with the needs that are equipped with supporting facilities activities It's like a gallery. The research method used through field survey, documentation, and analysis of typical schemes (ornament) in weaving itself as spots, threads ornament woven fabric , stop at doyo iban, and kai pagatan at weaving. The results of this research describes how the application thread orrnament spots that is focused towards the motives of the stalks crisp can be applied in the architecture of High Technology by adopting characteristics of High Technology Architecture, such as structure, materials, colors, System technology in buildings, and the ornament motif which applicated on technology system (Kinetic Facade). Abstract

The potential of hydropower energy in Indonesia is very large, the country of Indonesia has small rivers that continous to flow in the irrigation canal. Hydrokinetic energy can be used in savonius turbines, with the density of water greater than the density of air, the Savonius hydrokinetic turbine can extract sufficient kinetic energy even at low water flow rates.The purpose of this study was to determine the static torque and dynamic torque produced from savonius turbine type of bach three- blades.The hydrokinetic turbines studied were savonius turbine type of bach three- blades with aspect ratio of 1.1, overlap ratio 0.2, rotor height (H) 0.3m, rotor diameter (D) 0.33m, turbine diameter (d) 0, 3m, and with variations in the velocity of water flow (V) 0.3 m / s and 0.65 m / s the test is carried out in a water tunnel. Both of these torsions are obtained in stationary conditions (static torque) for the azimuth each angle and moving conditions (dynamic torque) of no load and until it stops rotating. By utilizing the braking force on pulley with variations in loading. Based on the data obtained, the results of savonius turbine type of bach three- blades. research result in dynamic torque of 0.456 Nm and 0.816 Nm, for the average static torque produced is 0.427 Nm and 0.788 Nm at each azimuth angle.Keywords : Savonius Turbine, Static Torque, Dynamic Torque

Abstract

Hydroxyapatite (Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2) is the most stable form of calcium phosphate, which is widely used in various medical applications, mainly in orthopedics and dentistry due to it’s similarities with inorganic mineral component of bone and teeth. However, in spite of chemical similarities, mechanical performance of synthetic hydroxyapatite was very poor compared with that of natural bone. It is possible to improve the properties of hydroxyapatite ceramics by controlling important parameters of powder precursors such as particle size, particle shape and agglomeration. In this study, synthesized of hydroxyapatite used PCC and (NH4)2PO4 as raw material. The PCC was made from duck’s eggshells with carbonation method. The hydroxyapatite later would be sintered in 500 ̊C and then characterized by SEM and XRD. The synthesis of hydroxyapatite in this study had been done succesfully with the aid of precipitation method, by controlling the pH. Needle-like hydroxyapatite was synthesized at pH 8 and pH 10 and spherical-like hydroxyapatite was synthesized at pH 12. XRD analysis showed the similarities with standard hydroxyapatite ICDD 01-074-0566. It has been found that the degree of crystallinity had been raised as the pH increased. Abstract

This research looks at the comparison of the breakdown voltage between mineral oil and soybean oil as an alternative to liquid insulation.This oil test uses half spare electrodes. The value of breakdown voltage of soybean oil is higher than mineral oil. This research also examined in electrode distance variation, reduction of water content and variations in temperature rise on soybean oil to determine the effect of breakdown voltage. less water level in oil results in a higher breakdown voltage. To be used as an alternative to liquid insulation, it must meet several criteria according to the standard specifications of liquid insulating oil. Soybean oil before reducing in water content has rever several criteria requirements including density and viscosity based on standar SPLN 49-1:1982. While the specifications of breakdown voltage, the pour point and flash point not saturate the criteria as an alternative to liquid insulation. Soybean oil after reducing in water content has met several criteria requirements including breakdown voltage, density and viscosity.
