Abstract

The scarcity of fuel has led to research is done to develop and utilize renewable fuel sources such as ethanol. The purpose of this study was to obtain and compare the performance of a Diesel Engine using B20 biosolar fuel and a Biosolar-Ethanol mixture. The alcohol compound used was 96% ethanol and mixed according to the different composition. The performance characteristics are carried out by testing diesel engines at a constant speed of 2100 rpm and load varied from 350 W, 700 W, 1000 W, 1350 W, 1700 W, 2000 W, 2350 W, 2700 W, and 3000 W. From the experimental results, the performance of diesel engines with ethanol substitute fuel has not changed in power, torque, and bmep. The thermal efficiency of biodiesel was 18.23% and the thermal efficiency of the 5% ethanol mixture was 15.74%, in the mixture of 10% by 16.90%, in the mixture of 15% at 20.16% and in the mixture of 20% by 20.11%.Keywords: Ethanol, biosolar, diesel engine, performance

Abstract

The ethuasiasm of adolescents in Pekanbaru to development of the arts, entertainment, sports, education, and recreation is quite large. This is done by their desire to create and angage these fields to relieve stress and return after their activities. The pattern of social interaction with teenegers being joined with ‘community’. But unfortunately the potential and achievement of adoloscents in the community is not supported by the availability of space and the masses in accordance with activity needs. Taking the location of design at Jl. Naga Sakti, Pekanbaru Youth Center is present as a solution of activity and interaction of adolescent with Decontruction Architecture as paradigm and applying four of Daniel Libeskinds design methods namely Metaphora, Fragmentation, Void, dan Disorientation. The final result is the creation of a container that can accommodate and distribute their interests and talents, so they can be active and increase their social value.Keyword : Adolescent, Community, Decontruction Architecture, Youth Center

Abstract

Asphalt and termite liquid are fluxing materials that can increase the strength of recycled asphalt pavement. This research reuses recycled materials to save on the use of asphalt and aggregate. The purpose of the study was to determine the Marshall characteristics of a mixture of worn-out asphalt concrete (AC-WC) on asphalt rejuvenation and termite antiliquid. This study used a mixture of each asphalt and anti-termite fluxing material with variations of 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2%. The research standard used the Marshall method according to the Bina Marga Specifications 2010 revision 3. Test results on asphalt-added material VMA, VFA values, stability and MQ have met specifications, VIM values are only at 1% variation with an average value of 3.67% that meets specifications, while the flow value does not meet the specifications and is too large with the highest value of 7.53%. The results of the anti-termite liquid additive test results are based on average values, only in 1% added ingredients that meet specifications based on Marshall Characteristics. VMA, VFA and Stability values of all variations have met the specifications and value of flow, VIM in variations of 0.5%, 1.5%, and 2% does not meet specifications while the MQ value is only for 0.5% added material does not meet Bina Marga 2010 specifications revision 3. The optimum level of added ingredients contains anti termite fluids with a variation of 1.4%, this variation is the mixture that is best used based on Bina Marga specifications 2010 revision 3. Abstract

SMAW (Shield Metal Arc Welding) is one of the commonly used welding technology because it has an excess of which easy to use at any thickness, easy to use with all the welding position and the flow can be varied. In this research,a welding machine of SMAW used Adaptive Vertical Sliding System, so that the welding speed can be arranged constant. This research used a variation of the DC flow (reverse polarity and straight polarity) and the speed of welding based on the welding results by conducting of visual testing, penetrant testing, tensile testing and metalografi testing. The welding speed was controlled using the arduino uno,which linked to motor stepper as the Activator. The Materials used was low carbon steel (mild steel), the groove was used a single v groove of 60 ° and an electrode of E6013. There were 18 specimens to be tested, which 9 of specimens using the straight polarity and 9 of specimens using the reverse polarity. The highest tensile strength of whole specimens occur on straight polarity specimens of 490.95 MPa and the lowest tensile strength specimens occur in the reverse polarity of 283.47 MPa. The micro structure was determined by many factors such as heat input, flow, the speed of the welding, and the rate of cooling. In this research HAZ areas has a larger grain structure than base metal and weld metal.Keywords: Welding, Tensile Testing, Penetrant Testing, Metalografi, HAZ

Abstract

The rise of mall construction in the city of Pekanbaru today makes up the new idea about sports facilities by combining shopping places in it. Sports Mall is accommodate of two functions between places supporting sports activities and a place to support the city's economic activities as well as an icon of city development that has not existed before. The Sports Mall character that space efficiency, building support structures and aesthetics as an expression of sports and displays an open impression that is able to connect public space inside and outside the building. To fulfill this character, it can be done with the approach of the principles of high-tech architecture. Abstract

Methyl Ester Sulfonate (MES) is an anionic surfactant which is currently being developed. These surfactants can be produced from palm oil methyl ester. MES produced from sulfonation reaction with addition of sulfonation agents. MES can be synthesized from Palm Oil Methyl Ester (POME) and Sodium Bisulfite (NaHSO3) as the sulfonation agent with Calcium Oxide as the catalyst. The aims of this research are to determine the characteristic of the product, and to determine the effects of temperature and mole ratio of the product produced. Sulfonation process was carry out at the time of 5, 7, 9 hours, the mole ratio of 1:1, 1:1,5, 1:2, the stirring speed of 450 rpm, and the temperature of 80 oC. Then purification of the MES surfactant and product analysis is carried out. The best characteristic of the MES is at time 7 hours and mole ratio 1:2 with the density of 0,943 gr/ml, the viscosity of 2,1027 cP, the pH of 3,53, the surface tension of 33,95 dyne/cm, the interfacial tension of 28,85 dyne/cm, the emulsion stability of 89%, and the yield of 83,45%. Abstract

LTE-Advanced is the latest technology as an evolution of LTE and expected to be able to provide efficient services in the use of spectrum. So it can provide higher data rate speeds both on the downlink side and on the uplink side. Carrier Aggregation (CA) is a Method on technology at LTE-Advanced, and with this Carrier Aggregation, it can add value to throughput on the customer side by utilizing the available spectrum. In Kampar Regency all areas have not been reached by the LTE network. There is no application of LTE-Advanced technology in the Kampar district. The purpose of this research is to improve the better service performance needed by LTE-Advanced users by using the Carrier Aggregation Method. The design of the carrier aggregation method obtained 99.79% coverage by signal at the signal level ≤ -80 dBm which almost reached the entire planning area very well. After the design of LTE-Advanced with the Carrier Aggregation Method, the number of sites needed is 320 sites to cover all the required planning areas.Keywords: LTE-Advanced, Carrier Aggregation, signal level.

Abstract

When designing a car, it is very important to pay attention to the construction and design of the vehicle. This is useful for getting the security and comfort of users in driving a car. In this study, car body design must have the smallest drag coefficient possible. if the vehicle has a large drag coefficient value, it has a large influence on the efficiency or performance of the vehicle, especially in cars with a large Cd value that will greatly affect vehicle speed. This is useful for minimizing the fuel used, and allows the vehicle to reduce the friction forces caused by air while driving. To get drag coefficients, Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) software is used. The software used is Solidworks Flow Simulation. From the results of aerodynamic simulations on four alternative car bodies carried out in this study, the smallest Cd (Coefficient Drag) is the second car body model, which has a Drag Coefficient (Cd) = 0.21Keywords: Car, Aerodynamics, Vehicle Dynamics, Drag Coefficient

Abstract

The membrane is a selective and semipermeable layer that is between two phases, namely the feed phase and the permeate phase. The synthesis of silica membrane made from rice husk was carried out using phase inversion method. The purpose of this study was to determine the classification of silica membranes through characterization, determine the effect of variations in silica mass (5, 10, 15, and 20 gram) on the membrane pore, flux, and rejection using variations of operating pressure 1, 2, 3 bars. This study produced a porous membrane. Characterization tests carried out include SEM analysis, flux and rejection. Based on the test characteristics of permeability, selectivity, and pore statistics that have been carried out on the membrane shows that the silica membrane is an ultrafiltration type membrane.Keywords : phase inversion, rhodamin B, semipermiabel, ultrafiltration

Abstract

The surface roughness of a machining process is a very important factor in the field of production that is one of the turn-milling process. Turn-milling is a combined machining process of turning and milling with complete tools (cutting) where workpieces and tools rotate together. The turn-milling process can be classified in orthogonal turn-milling, tangential turn-milling and co-axial turn-milling. The resulting surface surface quality is also affected by the parameters of the machining process in the form of rotation of the workpiece and the rotation of the tool. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of parameters on surface roughness and optimal Parameter to surface roughness by doing tangential process of turn-milling. By varying the parameter variables, the surface roughness generated in this study is influenced by the rotation of the workpiece and the rotation of the tool. The higher the tool rotation the lower the surface roughness. As well as the rotation of the workpiece the higher the rotation of the workpiece the finer the surface results. The optimal parameter is a rotation tool -2500 rpm with a rotation of 1000 rpm objects found in the roughness class N6 with a roughness value of 1.282 μm where the roughness value is lower than the other roughness values.Keywords: Turn-Milling, Tangential Turn-Milling, Rotation, Surface Roughnees
