Abstract

Each welding process has its own advantages depending on the placement of the implementation. One of the welding techniques is SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), which has its own advantages, including largecurrents such as heat source that can be varied, easy to use in different welding positions and penetration and the melting height of the electrode can be adjusted. In the SMAW welding process, the variable that determines the quality of the welding results is the choice of the correct added material, the selection of the current used inthe machine must be adjusted such that the added material (the electrode) is perfect and the welding speed (angle) of the welding itself. The selection of these variables depends on the skill (skill) of the operator who implements them, so that the determination of these variables often changes. In contrast to the welding process that is performed using the SMAW welding machine with a sliding adjustable system with two axes to replace the welder, so that the speed and position parameters of welds can be obtained constantly (fixed).The varied parameters are current and polarity using DC currents (unidirectional) with currents of 90A, 100A and120A.The material used in this study uses mild steel, the seam used is V with an angle of 60o and electrodes with the AWS E-6013 standard. The number of samples tested was 18 samples, 9 of which for straight polarityand 9 samples for reverse polarity. The microstructure of the welding is determined by many factors, including heat input, current, welding speed and cooling speed. Abstract

Many alternatives have been made to Minimalized energy usage. One of them performs exergy analysis and exergoeconomic analysis. This concept of analysis, not only taking into account the quantity of energy but also the quality of the energy (the second law of thermodynamics). Exergoeconomic analysis, is an analysis that combines the exergy analysis with an economic approach (cost). Exergoeconomic analysis was done by taking data at PLTBg Tandun. The analysis was initiated by conducting economic analysis. Analyses conducted to figure out the total value of the waste from the Diesel PLTBg per year and the price of electricity/kWh. There ware 3 aspects of costs that we calculated cost of investment, operational maintenance fix costs, (employee salaries and benefits), and the operational maintenace. Of the each variable cost value were, the investment costs $0.016/kWh, for to investment cost $0.030/kWh, OM Fix the cost $0.009/kWh variable OM. The value of total cost loss for gas engine due to the destruction of the first period exergy is $7.116/hour, They are cost of losses for each component is the fuel space worth $7.09/hour, for combustion chamber, $0.043/hour, for compressor, $0.033/hour for turbocharge. While total cost loss value due to destruction of exergy the second period is $5.626/hour. They were of losses for each component is the fuel space worth $5.22/hour, compressor $0.393/hour, turbocharge $0.013/hour. Keywords: exergy, exergoeconomic, gas engine, biogas

Abstract

Indoor Park allows users to enjoy the beauty of nature comfortably. Bonsai as an art of miniaturized plants which always popular can filled the indoor park to become a natural tourist attraction, education for the community and commercial for gardening and bonsais in the city of Pekanbaru. Based on data collection, literature study, comparative study, and empirical study, the concept of "Grow Out" is suitable for the design. The term "Grow Out" is inspired by the shape of the bonsai roots that grow out of the pot/vase and branch off, it makes visitors want to explore the Indoor park even further. Abstract

The transmission system is the connecting part between the power plant and the distribution system and, will be forwarded to the load. When the fault occurred in the transmission line, it can cause a cut off in the supply of electrical energy to the load, causing losses to consumers. Therefore, a method is needed to identify fault accurately and quickly by reducing search time and speeding up the repair process. In this article, the identification of fault to be carried out is the classification and estimation of fault locations in the 115 kV transmission system. The method to be implemented is Discrete Wavelet Transformation (DWT) and Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) using the type of Elman. This study applied the DWT and RNN methods to identify short circuit fault that occurs in the transmission line. DWT is aimed at extracting information of transient signals for each phase current and zero sequence current in one cycle when the fault occurred. RNN classification is used to detect a fault with each phase and ground and RNN to estimate the location of fault that occurs in the transmission line. Training and testing data generated by running simulations of each type of short circuit fault using Simulink Matlab R2016a with variation parameters; location point of fault, fault resistance and initial angle of fault. Short circuit fault applied in the transmission line on Simulink model of the Bus LK to Bus BK at a voltage of 115 kV and a line length of 63.3 km. The results obtained are a classification of fault with an accuracy of 100% and, estimation of fault locations with the highest average error value is 1.418568%.Keywords: DWT, estimation of fault, RNN Elman, short circuit.

Abstract

Eggshell waste was modified by calcination, hydration and dehydration methods. Which were impregnated with activated carbon and NaOH made to be used as heterogeneous base catalysts used off grade palm oil transesterification reactions.The catalyst with the highest activity on production of biodiesel is obtained in the catalyst prepared by calcination temperature of 800 °C and catalyst ratio mass of 7:3 with transesterification reaction conditions of a molar ratio of methanol/oil 6:1, catalyst dosage of 6% by weight, temperature of 70 °C for 3 hours having yield biodiesel results reached 79,08%.Keyword: activated carbon, biodiesel, calcium oxide, catalysts, transesterification.

Abstract

Welding according to DIN (Deutsche Industrie Norman) is a metallurgical bonding on the connection is done in the melting or liquid state. In other words, the welding is the joining of two pieces of metal into one doneby way of heating or melting, where both ends of the object that will be spliced with eyes melt made the pin on the tool or the heat gained from the pins on the rounds a specified rpm. each specimen, material AISI 4140 steel is used with a diameter of 6 mm pin welding position horizontally (flat), the used temperature 70 ° c, 75 ° c, 80 °c, and a round of rpm used 400 rpm, 500 rpm, 700 rpm, in the execution of welding the welding method using FSW (Friction Stir Welding). Then pull the values taken on the area of welding. Abstract

At the moment composite is one of the alternative materials being developed and widely used in the industrial world. Composites that use natural fibers are chosen because they are also environmentally friendly besides cheap. One of the natural fibers around us and has good potential is pineapple leaf fibers. This study aims to determine the effect of the number of fiber layers and position of pineapple leaf fibers on the mechanical properties of composites where the resin used in this study is polyesther resin. In this study an analysis of the composite strength, elasticity and elasticity was carried out. This study uses pineapple leaf fibers with variations of 1 layer of fiber, 2 layers of fiber, 3 layers of fiber and variations in the position of the fibers, namely below, in the middle, above. The results showed that the highest mechanical properties were obtained by composites with 3 layers of fiber with tensile strength values of 65.09 MPa, flexural strength of 327.1 MPa and elastic modulus of 5917.3 MPa. The resulting composite has met fiberglass reinforced plastic specification standards for water treatment units based on SNI 7504:2011. Keywords: composite, fiber, pineapple leaves, polyesther

Abstract

Fisheries port of Carocok Tarusan Beach in Pesisir Selatan is stipulated in RTRW of Pesisir Selatan Regency as a tourism port. However, it has not been able to show as a tourism port. So, it takes the development of the area to become a tourism port area. The design method used is the result of field surveys, documentation, analysis of qualitative data and quantitative data. The development utilizes the existing port and the area of land around the port. So that the result of the development will be mutually integrated between the fisheries port and the area for tourism and fisheries activities. The design theme uses the theme of water edge architecture whose main principle is to utlize the physical and visual potential, namely the mangrove protected area, so the concept used in this development is identity of mangrove, making the reference to area development referring to the principle of life of mangrove plants. The result of the develoment divide the zone of the area into fisheries port zones, socio-cultural zones, and recreation zones. Development is expected to be able to accommodate fishing port actvities and tourism activities in tandem..Keyword: Pesisir Selatan, Fisheries Port , Waterfront Architecture.

Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a concept that utilizes the internet as a communication system to build intelligent interactions between people and objects around it. One of its application is in the field of animal husbandry. Along with its development, one of the farms that developed in Indonesia is laying hens. Many farmers still use the manual method to calculate egg production. This method is not efficient since it requires a lot of human resources to monitor and calculate the amount of egg production. This study presents the monitoring of chicken egg production based on IoT using Arduino microcontroller. Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) sensor was used as an input for detecting the chicken eggs, Espressif Smart Connectivity Platform (ESP) as the WI-FI module, Real Time Clock (RTC) as the timer and SD Card Module for data storage. All the data can be accessed by users on the ANTARES cloud platform by using the application on Android. Keywords: Arduino, Android,Monitoring

Abstract

Biodiesel fuel and ethanol are fuels that have been used in diesel engines. In this study, the focus was on the effect of temperature on a mixture of biodiesel fuel and ethanol on the performance of diesel engines, Feng to be used as an electric generator. The test equipment used is a dong Feng diesel engine in the University of Riau mechanical engineering laboratory. Testing of diesel engines is carried out with constant rotation and constant voltage. Comparison of fuel mixtures used Biosolar (B20) 95% with 5% ethanol, Biosolar (B20) 90% with 10% ethanol and Biosolar (B20) 85% with 15% ethanol in 1000 ml with variations in temperatures of 50oC, 60oC and 70oC and loading 1000 watts, 2000 watts and 3000 watts. The results showed that the performance of the Dong Feng diesel engine for using electric generators with biodiesel 95% and 5% ethanol in 1000 ml increased the effective power, torque and brake mean effective pressure by 5.88% compared to only using biodiesel. The effect temperature on the mixture and biosolar and ethanol fuel are fuel consumption, thermal efficiency and air and fuel ratio in the biodiesel mixture of B20 95% and 5% ethanol with a temperature of 60oC which increased 5.06% compared to biodiesel. But the increase in effective power, torque and speed increased.Key word : diesel engine, biosolar, ethanol, temperature, viskosity
