Abstract

Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) is a process of identifying damage by Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE). The method can be done by non-contact method. In this study a non-contact method was proposed to monitor the specimen by utilizing the sound signal as an excitation. This method has advantage becauseit is not costly toset-up testing.Excitation is given to specimen by the loudspeaker. The sound response on the specimen is recorded through the microphone. Recorded data in the form of time domain is transformed into a frequency domain using FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) method. The domain data frequency response and data excitation frequency can be processed into data of FRF(Frequency Response Function).FRF matrix form is used to estimate the mode shape. The first Natural frequency of mode shape is transformed to detect the location of  damage. The study was performed on specimen under normal and damaged conditions. The result of the research on simulation and testing show that proposed method can detect the location of the damage properly and accurately. Keywords: Signal Sound, SHM,FFT,FRF,Mode Shape

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the data on the generation and composition of non-domestic waste in development area IV Pekanbaru City. Generation sampling based on SNI 19-3964-1994 which was carried out for eight consecutive days with a total sample of 114 unit. The total result of non-domestic waste generation is 0,064 kg/person/day or 0,335 l/person/day. The composition of non domestic waste includes food waste, paper, plasti, cloth/textiles, rubber/leather, yard waste, wood, glass, metal, and other waste. Abstract

Oil palm trunks are agricultural solid waste that has not been used optimally. Oil palm trunks have a high starch content so that they can be used as raw materials for making bioplastics, dextrins and adhesives. The experiment of hydrolisys of starch-free oil palm trunks was intended to study the effect of time and catalyst concentration on the obtained pentoses and furfurals. Hydrolisys of starch-free palm trunks was carried out in batches on a laboratory scale. The experimental variables studied were formic acid concentration 85% by weight, catalyst concentration (0; 0.05; 0.1; 0.15; 0.2% by weight), reaction time (0; 5; 10; 15; 20; 30 . ; 45; 60; 90; 120; 180 minutes) and a solid-to-liquid ratio of 15/1. The experimental results showed that the time and concentration of the catalyst greatly influenced the pentose and furfural in the process of hydrolisys of starch-free oil palm trunks. The levels of pentose and furfural dissolved in the used cooking liquid in this experiment were pentose (0.31-1.37 grams/l) and furfural (1.45-2.95 grams) with the percentage of hemicellulose recovery ranging from (28-57% ).Keywords: palm trunk, starch-free, delignification, organosolv, formic acid

Abstract

Chemistry is considered a science that is quite difficult and uninteresting to learn for many students. One of the causes is the lack of interest in the student's attention to the learning process in chemistry. The use of information and communication technology is an effective and efficient way to improve the quality of the learning process and outcomes in schools. A learning media is created in which modules with magazine models are combined with an Augmented Reality (AR) technology application to facilitate the students to understand the subject matter, especially chemistry. This application implements the Marker Based Tracking and Markerless Augmented Reality methods. Some application design stages are such as collecting data about modules, interface design, database, information displayed, and building applications into Android package (Apk). The tools such as Unity 3D, Vuforia Object Scanner, Vuforia SDK, Android SDK, Java Development Kit, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Premiere Pro are used to build this application. The result shows that the Androidbased Augmented Reality application can successfully display more information on the modules that are available in the form of videos about the additional explanation of the thermochemical material. Abstract

Under-Water Concrete (UWC) is one of the types of high-performance concrete because the mixture and the casting process are different from concrete in general. UWC casting does not allow the compaction process to be carried out in the water so by adding Admixtures Washout Agent (AWA) into concrete, the concrete's viscosity is increased and its resistance to washout is enhanced. Sodium Tripolyphosphate (STPP) is one of the additives used in this research which has AWA properties so that when casting is carried out the concrete mixture is not mixed with peat water. The use of a Superplasticizer ensures enough concrete fluidity to spread readily in place without vibration and the use of stone ash functions as a filler for the pores in the concrete. UWC must achieve the right balance between its physical and mechanical properties which can affect its performance. UWC composition and physical properties determine concrete resistance to mass loss by washout of peat water. The research aims to study the effect of STPP additive in the composition of concrete mixtures in the peat water environment and analyze UWC physical properties, i.e., workability, Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR), and porosity. The amount of STPP used in this study is 10% of cement's weight while the amount of stone ash used is 10% of the fine aggregate weight. Porosity and volume weight tests were carried out on six samples, and FT-IR testing was carried out on two samples of the concrete cylinders with volumes of 10 cm diameter and 20 cm height. The parameter considered in this study was comparing the physical properties of UWC of the curing time in peat water for 28 days and 56 days. The test results of the volume weight test on 28 and 56 curing days were 2262.271 kg/m3 and 2271.331 kg/m3. The porosity test value in concrete with 28 days was 20.847% decreased by 0.165% against the concrete age of 56 days, which equals to 20.024%. It can be concluded that there was no effect of peat water at 56 days on concrete's physical properties. Key words: Natrium Tripolyphosphate, Underwater Concrete, Admixture Washout Agent, Porosity

Abstract

House of cat is a forum for the cat lovers community in Pekanbaru as a rescue activity for stray cats, especially in the city of Pekanbaru. There are three stages in the Pekanbaru House of Cat in saving wild cats, that is rescue, rehab, and rehome. Rescue is the initial stage of saving cats from the street, rehab is a healing stage for a cat after being rescued from the street and rehome is a stage where a cat residing in the house of cat can be adopted and obtained a owner. The facilities provided to support the rescue of stray cats from the streets are in the form of a cat clinic for the first help in rescue, for the rehabilitation or healing stage of the room required in the form of a sterile room for the healing stage and other supporting rooms such as grooming for the cat's external body care. The design method used is the results of the field survey, documentation, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data. The results of the design take shape from the general things used in rescue activities, namely the cage. The shape of the cage has a similarity to the principle of modern architectural design Mies van der Rohe, namely the presence of vertical and horizontal elements in its design. In addition to the three main functions, there are also supporting functions in the form of cat cafes, cat hotels and pet shops. Abstract

The phenomenon of the formation of tidal flats is a unique phenomenon which is very interesting to study. The purpose of this study was to analyze the wave characteristics of the island peatlands and the tidal flat formation process. The method used in this research is bed load simulation and one-way waves with variations in wave period, wave height and wavelength. Simulations were carried out in the Hydrotechnic Laboratory using a flume measuring 500cm x 7.6cm x 25cm, Motoric Wave Generator, and Velocimeter. The results showed that the bed profile changed dynamically moving back and forth, and tidal flats were formed at the 5th and 6th hours with a length of 9.9 cm offshore then the tidal flat was abrasive. Abstract

Riau is a source of water for peaty areas or generally shallow swamp areas with brown water, high levels of humic acid, organic matter and iron. This study aims to determine the effect of stirring speed and particle size of peat soil adsorbent on the efficiency of removing organic substances, metals (Fe) and pH in peat water. The experiment was carried out by adsorption with a contact time of 2 hours by varying the particle size, namely 60, 80 and 100 mesh, stirring speed of 100, 150 and 200 rpm. While the fixed variables are 10% phosphoric acid activator, 300°C temperature and 10 gram mass. The concentration of organic matter removal was 57.2 mg/L with a percentage of 80.92%, metal (Fe) removal of 0.533 mg/L with a percentage of 86.57% at a particle size of 100 mesh and a stirring speed of 200 rpm while the pH was 7 with a particle size of 100 mesh and a stirring speed of 100 rpm. The adsorption capacity of peat water on organic matter was 24,27 mg/gr and iron (Fe) was 0,343 mg/gr at a particle size of 100 mesh and agitation speed of 200 rpm for 2 hours Keywords : Peat Water, Peat Soil, Adsorption, Removal Efficiency, Adsorption Capacity

Abstract

Chitosan is one of the solutions in reducing heavy metal contamination inelectroplating industrial wastewater. Bionanomaterial chitosan has better ability because it has a specific surface area and nano-scale particle size. This research uses bionanomaterial chitosan to remove Ni from electroplating wastewater. This study aims to determine the effect of bionanomaterial chitosan concentration andstirring time in removing Ni in electroplating wastewater with variation ofconcentrations of 4000; 8000; 12000; and 16000 mg/L and stirring times of 30, 60 and 90 minutes using jar test. The initial concentration of Ni in electroplating wastewater was 2,025 mg/L. After the adsorption process, the highest efficiency value for Ni was 98,667 % at bionanomateial chitosan concentration of 8000 mg/Land a stirring time of 30 minutes.Keywords: Bionanomaterial Chitosan, Adsorption, Ni, Electroplating Waste Water.

Abstract

Courses timetabling is one of the most important administrative activities that is always carried out before entering the beginning of the semester. The courses timetabling at the Electrical Engineering Department actually uses computers, but it has not been used optimally. The timetable for the Electrical Engineering Department is made with the help of the Microsoft Excel program so that scheduling and detecting conflicting schedules is difficult. the solution to this problem is a web-based course timetabling information system that can be accessed via a computer, laptop or smartphone and can also detect conflicting timetable so that this system can help facilitate administrative staff in timetabling and make it easier for lecturers to get information about course timetable anywhere and anytime. functionality testing has been carried out using the black box testing method. Based on the results of the Black Box test, this Course timetabling Information System can functionally be used properly and produce results as expected.
