Abstract

Abstract:This was an experimental research. This research was about the effect of communicative activitieson the students speaking ability. The objective was to see the effect of communicative activities on the speaking ability of the 8th grade students of SMP N 23 Pekanbaru. It was conducted to the 8th grade students of SMP N 23 Pekanbaru especially VIII G as the subject of research. There are two communicative activities applied, they are information gap and scramble sentence. Speaking testas used as the tools of collecting the data. Pre-test are conducted to know students speaking ability before the treatment and post-test to know the students’ speaking ability after the treatment. They need to retell a fable. The data was analyzed by using SPSS. The result of this research showed that communicative activitieshave significant effect and positive impactto the students’ speaking ability. It indicates the improving of students speaking abilityaspects in the result of pre-test and post-test.Key Words: Communicative activities, speaking ability, information gap, scramble sentence, fable

Abstract

Abstract: This classroom action research aimed to find out whether mind- mapping strategy can improve students’ writing ability in analytical exposition text and to find out to what extend mind mapping improve students’ writing ability in analytical exposition text. This research was conducted at MA Muhammadiyah Pekanbaru from March to October 2015. The number of participant was 31 students of XI social class. This research consisted of two cycles. The instruments of this research were writing test, observation sheet, and field note. The finding showed that the average score of pre- test was 56.88. It improved to 70.18 in the first post test and 78.75 in the second post test. Based on the improvement, it can be concluded that mind mapping strategy can improve the ability of the second year students of MA Muhammadiyah Pekanbaru in writing analytical exposition text. In addition, mind mapping strategy also improves students’ writing ability in all aspects of writing.Keywords: action research, writing ability, mind mapping, analytical exposition texts

Abstract

Abstract: This research was designed to describe the significant of the correlation between reading motivation and reading comprehension. The aim was to find out the correlation between students’ reading motivation and students’ reading comprehension. This Correlation research took place in SMK Taruna Satria Pekanbaru in July 2015. The sample was 36 students from First Year students that took by using cluster random sampling. In collecting the data, there were 30 questions that included in this test. The duration time for doing the test was 90 minutes. The data was analyzed by calculating the students’ score in reading motivation, finding out the reading comprehension score and correlating the two variables. The students’ score classified into three level of students’ reading motivation; they are: Low, Moderate, and High. Besides, the students’ score classified into five level mastery of Reading Comprehension; they are: very poor, poor, mediocre, good, and excellent. The data was presented by using graphic. Based on the result finding of this research, the coefficient correlation ( obtained was 0,424. Therefore, it answered the research that there was a relationship between reading motivation and reading comprehension in moderate level. For more details, the correlation of intrinsic motivation and reading comprehension is significant in 0,016 by the coefficient correlation 0,399 that considered as low correlation. In another side, the correlation of extrinsic motivation and reading comprehension is significant in 0,000 by the coefficient correlation 0,599 that considered as moderate correlation. It can be concluded that based on the data that was analyzed, the students reading extrinsic motivation influence the students’ comprehension more than the intrinsic motivation. In other words, the contribution of reading motivation towards reading comprehension significant enough for the first year students of SMK Taruna Satria Pekanbaru. Another result from the students perception about the teacher’s teaching method as extrinsic motivation factor found out that they are more motivated if the teacher teaches them by speech as one of the stages of inquiry based learning than teacher teaching by group discussion and questioning. Abstract

Abstract: The study, entitled presuppositions in the novel Mahamimpi Anak Negeri by Suyatna pamungkas. The purpose of this research is to determine the presuppositions in the novel Mahamimpi Anak Negeri by Suyatna pamungkas on the forms and meanings in the novel. The method in this research is analytical descriptive method with qualitative approach. In this research, writer use data technique accumulation by notation and documentation. Data of this study are 65 data.Data form the research i have found in the study is the presuppositions that the forms and meanings, presuppositions verbal form containing statement consists of one data, presuppositions implicature verbal form consists of eighteen data, presuppositions verbal form which replace the state consists of eight data, presuppositions shaped repetition consists of sixteen data, presuppositions shape composed of three said the time of data, presuppositions form a sentence that no topic or focus consists of three data and presuppositions form of a question consists of sixteen data.Key words: presuppositions, form and meaning, novel.

Abstract

Abstract: This study entitled Minor sentence in the event of Mata Najwa. The purpose of research conducted by the author with the title of the study is a minor sentence describing the type of minor sentence used in the event Mata Najwa and also explain the meaning of a minor sentence. This type of research is qualitative descriptive method. The data source is the object of this study is Mata Najwa show on Metro TV. Data collected with a see-note technique and documentation of the five episodes during the month of September 2015 Mata Najwa events with different topics. The results showed there were 8 types of minor sentence, the sentence of minor calls, greeting, title, motto / slogan, the query expression, expression command, expression statements, and elliptical fragments, while the meaning of a minor sentence found in all kinds of minor sentence of the 69th Data with analyzed using contextual meaning. Meaning for unstructured minor sentence that is to be meaningful tribute, open conversation, politeness, notices, invitations, motivation, requests, orders, states, and other meanings, whereas for minor sentence structure to be meaningful affirmation, belief or truth.Key Words: a minor sentence , events , najwa eye.

Abstract:This study titled is Reduplication of Riau Malay dialect Rokan Hulu. This study aims to describe the type of reduplication Riau Malay dialect Rokan Hulu and explain the meaning contained in the dialect of the Malay language Reduplication Rokan Hulu. The method used in this research is descriptive research. Based on geographical data, the author determin saurce of data fromrepreseninformants everings districts . Every village of the total districts represented by two informants so that the number of informants study is 18 peoples. The result of this resul have onstained: (1) thetypes of dwipurwa reduplication with affixes there are eleven of datas,(2)dwilingga reduplication there areseventh of datas, (3) dwilingga reduplication phoneme exchange there are three datas, (4) konfiks reduplicationthere are four datas, (5) prefixed reduplication with the phallus first lingga there were nine of datas, (6) prefixed reduplication with the second lingga there are fivedatas, (7) suffixes reduplication there arethree datas (8) Infix reduplication there are three datas,(9) simulfix reduplicationthere are seven datas, (10) the meaning ofdwipurwa reduplications with affixes (sake, many times / repeatable and highly / intensity) there are trhee datas, (11) meaning ofplural dwilingga reduplications there is one data, (12) the meaning ofsound copy dwilingga (mutual / reverb) thereis one of datas, (13) the meaning of konfiks reduplications (many / plural) the is one data, (14) prefixing reduplications on the firts lingga (many / plural, intensity / very / more , casually, superlative / most, and up / ever) there are five of datas, (15) prefixed reduplication on the second linggareplay / each) there are two datas, (16) suffix reduplication (many / plural) there is one of data, (17) infix reduplication (are taking place / continuous) there is one of data, (18) simulfix reduplications (most / superlative, replay / each other, and many times) there are three of datas.Keywords : types and reduplication ofmeaning contained in Rokan Hulu .

Abstract: Cohesion is the relationship between the sentences in a discourse, both in strata certain grammatical and lexical strata. Sehubung with it, study here trying to describe the study of lexical cohesion in Riau Pos daily news. This research is a qualitative research. In this study, the authors use descriptive method. Descriptive method is a method performed by the following steps: collecting data, classify, analyze and make conclusions to get a picture of the object. The data source of this research is the daily headlines in Riau Pos listed starting from January 2 to January 31, 2015. Data collection techniques in this study is documentation techniques. Documentation techniques is to collect documents and data needed in the research problems studied intensively so as to support and add to the confidence and proof of an event. Writing collect data such as documents headline news in every issue of Riau Pos daily publication. The results of research there are five forms of lexical cohesion which will be described includes 18 synonyms, divided into four types, namely: inter-sentence synonym, inter-word, inter-phrase, and inter-morpheme, 6 antonyms, divided into four types, namely: antonym between words, between sentences, inter-phrase, and inter-morpheme, 5 underwriting meaning, 6 homonym, divided into four types, namely: homonymous between words, between sentences, inter-phrase, and inter-morpheme, and 5 hipernim , These results indicate the use of lexical cohesion in Riau Pos daily headlines.Keywords: Cohesion, lexical cohesion, Headlines, Riau Pos.

Abstract

Abstract: The problem of this resert is the lack of groundstroke forehand’s ability in tennis game of health physical education students on the year of 2013. It is suspected, because of the lack of arms and shoulders power explosion when doing groundstroke forehand. The aim of this study is to find the relationship between arms and shoulders’ power explosion with the groundstroke forehand’s ability. This is correlational study that aimed to know how big the contribution between independent and dependent variables. After that, conducted data normality test by liliefors test with significant level α = 0.05, and the result for normality test of X variable is L0maks (0,144) <Ltabel (0,173), normality test of Y variable, L0maks (0,107) <Ltable (0,173), in other words, the distribution of the data is normal. Then, continued by determining the r using product moment correlational analysis, if tresult>ttable, then the result is, there is significant relationship on it. The result of this research showed that there is a significant relationship between arms and shoulders’ power explosion with the groundstroke forehand’s ability, tresult(3,061) >rtable(1,708). So, Ho is refused and Ha is accepted. Based on the research result,the conclusion is there is significant relationship between the arms and shoulders’ power explosion with the groundstroke forehand’s ability in tennis game of health physical education students on the year of 2013.Keywords: Power Explosion, Groundstroke Forehand’s Ability

Abstract

Abstract: This research was a study on speaking ability of the second year students of SMA Negeri 1 Kateman. The aim of this study was to know about the second year students speaking ability at SMA Negeri 1 Kateman. The sample of this research was class X1 IPA 1 that consists of 13 males and 19 females. In conducting this study, there were four questions in an interview as a test which was used to know the students’ speaking ability based on five aspects: pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. The questions of interview were: (1) introducing her/his self (2) telling about her/his family (3) describing the idol in her/his life (4) telling the subject her/his like in their school and its reason. To get the quantitative data in this research, the three raters were involved to give the scores of students speaking performance. From the result of the oral test in five aspects of speaking ability, the writer concluded that the average score of students’ ability in speaking from rater one it was 65.62 it was categorized as good level. From the rater two it was 66.72 it was categorized as good level. From rater three it was 67.19 it was categorized as good level. From the three raters in five aspects of speaking ability above, the average of speaking ability of students at the second year of SMA Negeri 1 Kateman was 66.51 it was categorized good level. The research finding shows that most of students were still had problems to express their idea to the listeners. It was caused by the lack of their ability in grammar, vocabulary, understanding the meaning of the word, and pronouncing the word clearly. Besides, they were lack of practice their speaking with their friend and teacher in the English classroom.Keywords : descriptive research, students’ speaking ability
