Abstract

Abstract: This descriptive study aimed to find out the ability of fourth semester students of English Study Program of University of Riau in using reduced adverb clauses in sentences, and to analyze kinds of students’ difficulties in using reduced adverb clauses in sentences. This study was based on the students’ problem where they were still confused in using reduced adverb clauses in sentences even they had learnt it on second and third semesters. They will have any subject in the next semester that related to this topic, in this case that is TOEFL Preparation. Therefore, it was needed to do some research in order to know their abilities in using reduced adverb clauses in sentences. This research was conducted in two sessions; try out and real test. The instruments of this study were 40 questions and it was in transformation/ changing the passage test. The research finding shows that fourth semester students of English Study Program of University of Riau were still less average in using reduced adverb clauses. Their mean score was only 48 in the try out test, then in the real test students’ mean score was 50. This research also proves that the most difficult kind of reduced adverb clauses for students was reduced in passive since their mean score was only 30. Based on this finding, it was suggested to fourth Semester Students of English Study Program of Teachers’ Training and Education Faculty in University of Riau to re read and practice materials about reduced adverb clauses and re recognise and surely practiceabout how to make passive sentence again properly.Keywords: grammar, using reduced adverb clauses, fourth semester students’ ability

Abstract

Abstract: This classroom action research was aimed to find out if the Directed Reading Thinking Activitystrategy could improve the students’ ability in comprehending narrative texts of the second year students of SMAN5 Pekanbaru. The class XI IPA 7 became the subject of the research, the participants were 39.The data were collected by using of tests, observations, and field notes. The data were analyzed byquantitative data and qualitative data. The research finding showed that the implementation of Directed Reading Thinking Activitystrategy as the teaching strategy could improve students’ ability in comprehending narrative texts both at the first cycle and second cycle.It was also proved that applying the procedures of Directed Reading Thinking Activitystrategy in teaching reading could raise students’ predictions, before reading, during and after reading in comprehendings narrative text, and motivation to shared with their friends in groups.Keywords: Directed Reading Thinking Activity Strategy, Students’ Reading Ability, Comprehending Narrative Text

Abstract

Abstract: This research aimed at finding out variation of word form, meaning, and function of moe word which is used by Otaku Japanese Community. This research used some theories from J.D Parera (2004), Sudjianto and Ahmad Dahidi (2007), and from Abdul Chaer and Leonie Agustina (2010). The method of this research is qualitative descriptive method. The data was collected from anime, drama and Japanese film. The result showed that moe word used only by Otaku community. Variation of moe word are moe, moeru, moeta, moenai, and moe moe. Generally, the meanings of moe word are love emotion, or like something excessively, both the animate objects or inanimate objects, and situation. Moe word has three function, they are emotive function, referential function, and phatic function.Keywords: moe, otaku, form, meaning, function

Abstract

Abstract: This research is about idiom ki ni naru, ki ni kakaru, ki ni kakeru, and ki ni suru. The purpose of this research is to find the classification of these four idioms based on term and appropriate with used method. This research is qualitative descriptive research, cause describe of these four idioms with using words and analys and the datas be in form sentence from corpus of data. Analysis method uses theory advanced by Masahiro Oku (1992) in his journal “Methods for Analyzing Japanese Predicate Idioms and Function Verb Expresions”. The instrument is idiom control table in the form of schema and table as a guide to processing these four idioms with three terms. Result of this research is these four idioms just complete the third term. That term is meaning from one of idiom forming elements can be affected by other words beside the forming elements.Keywords: Idiom, ki ni naru, ki ni kakaru, ki ni kakeru, ki ni suru.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to determine the effectiveness and feedback of media software "Tagaini jisho" on Kanji N4 lesson for individual learning. The Matching Pre test-Post test Control Group Design from quasi experiment used with restrictions of 20 people matching based on ownership of the laptop. Data collection techniques consist of tests (pre test-post test), assessment tests, questionnaires scale chart and interviews. Pre-test was used to test the homogeneity of the classes that have been matched. Post test is used to determine the significance after treatment.Based on statistical data processing SPSS, with two-tailed test, significance value was 0.576 greater than 0.05 (0.576> 0.05), Ha is rejected and Ho accepted. Media software Tagaini jisho is not effective on kanji N4 lesson for individual learning students level II of Japanese Language Education FKIP University of Riau. Based on data from questionnaires and interviews, student’s motivation in learning kanji are not so high, while student’s interest are high. Based on questionnaire data, media software Tagaini jisho can help in studying the kanji while based on interview data is impractical in learning kanji.Keywords: Effectiveness, media software, kanji, individual learning

Abstract

Abstract: This research is aimed at investigating whether there is a correlation between between students’ participation in English Extracurricular at school and their speaking ability at SMPN 6 Pekanbaru. This research used simple random sampling. The researcher found that extracurricular activity can improve students’ speaking ability at school. The result showed that coefficient correlation between two variable is 0,84, which means there is positive correlation between two variables. Abstract: This Research aim to to know the Ability Write The Text of Explanation of Student of Class of VII SMP Country 25 Pekanbaru. Method used in this research is descriptive method, that is method weared to explain the data obtained in research as it is. this Research technique use the technique tes write the text explanation. Description of result of this research in the form of: (1) according to title of text explanation, (2) according to public Statement, (3) according to consecution explaining / special statement, (3) according to interpretation. this Research target is to description ability write the text of explanation of student of class of VII SMP Country 25 Pekanbaru in aspect of title of text eksplanation, public statement, consecution penjelas / special statement, and interpretation. this Subyek research Population is 164 student, while this sampel research is 41 student. ABSTRACTION: This Research study about Evaluation of form and Mean The Word of Absorption of Dutch Ianguage in Indonesian. This Research used approach qualitative having the character of descriptive which aim to for the description of vocabulary of absorption of Dutch Ianguage in this Ianguage Indonesia. Because research only limited to word collection, hence use of various certain dictionary very that dibutuhkan. Without other;dissimilar reference use also partake to support this research. Following various reference which used as a data source. Foreign absorption Words dictionary in Indonesian (J.S Badudu, 2003), dictionary of Indonesian Etymology (Department of Education And Culture Jakarta, 1987), dictionary of absorption Word (Surawan Matinus,), Absorption Element in Indonesian and its instruction (Mansoer Pateda-Yennie P. Abstract

Abstract : The problem this research is the low mathematics learning outcomes of students, with an average grade 62.28. While the value of a minimum completeness criteria (KKM) IPS is 70. Among the students numbering 35 people only 14 students who reach KKM with classical completeness 40%. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted aims to improve mathematics learning outcomes third grade students of SD State 21 Pekanbaru to implement cooperative learning model type Numbered Head Together. Formulation of the problem: Is the implementation of cooperative learning model Numbered Head Together mode can improve mathematics learning outcomes third grade students of SD Negeri 21 Pekanbaru. The research was conducted on 6 April 2015 through to 23 April 2015 with 3 cycles. The subjects were the third grade students of SD State 21 Pekanbaru totaling 35 which is used as a data source. Data collection instruments in this thesis is the teacher and student activity sheets and learning outcomes. This thesis presents the results of learning derived from the value of daily tests before treatment with an average of 62.28, an increase in the first cycle with the average being 71.71. In the second cycle increased by an average of 76.71 and an increase in the third cycle with an average of 83.41. The activities of teachers in the learning process in cycle 1 the first meeting and the second meeting of the 71.87% increase to 75%. Second cycle of the first meeting and the second meeting of the 78.12% increase to 81.25%. In the third cycle of the first meeting and the second meeting of the 87.5% increase to 93.75%. Results of the data analysis activities of students in the first cycle of the first meeting with an average of 59.37% and the second meeting increased to 65.62%. Second cycle of the first meeting and the second meeting of the 75% increase to 78.12%. In the third cycle of the first meeting and the second meeting of the 84.37% increase to 90.62%. Results of the study in class III SD State 21 Pekanbaru prove that the implementation of cooperative learning model Numbered Head Together mode can improve mathematics learning outcomes third grade students of SD State 21 Pekanbaru.Key Words : Model Cooperative Learning, Results Learning mathematics
