Abstract

The effect of chitosan coating incorporated with natural antioxidants on the quality of fish fillets stored in refrigerated storage (4 °C) for 16 days was studied and compared. The control samples (without any coating), chitosan coating, and chitosan coating incorporated with several natural antioxidants based on studies were analyzed by physical and microbiological qualities. Gallic acid (3%), rosmarinic acid (0.3%), and 6-gingerol (2%) could effectively retard physical deterioration and microorganism activity based on 25 studies. Compared to the control and chitosan coating, samples treated with chitosan and gallic acid (3%) coatings significantly maintain physical and microbial quality of fish fillets during storage.

Abstract

The use of nanoparticle coolants in car radiators increases the rate of heat transfer and allows for a smaller overall radiator size. The transfer characteristics of hybrid nanofluids with various compositions of TiO2-SiO2 (40:60, 60:40, 80:20) based water/EG nanoparticles for a volume concentration of 1.0% were investigated experimentally. By dispersing the hybrid nanofluids in a mixture of water/ethylene glycol (60:40), the composition of the TiO2-SiO2 nanoparticles (40:60, 60:40, 80:20) was varied for a volume concentration of 1.0%. Experiments were carried out using a coolant flow rate between 2-12 LPM for a working fluid temperature of 70 °C, while the air flow velocity remained constant at an average of 4 m/s, to understand the effect of coolant flow velocity on heat transfer. The thermal performance of hybrid nanofluids in a water/EG mixture (60:40) was investigated for variations in the composition of TiO2-SiO2 nanoparticles (40:60, 60:40, 80:20) for a volume concentration of 1.0% and a working temperature of 70 °C. The heat transfer coefficient obtained is 32.1%, the maximum increase occurs in the TiO2-SiO2 nanofluid with the composition (40:60), while the 29.2% increase occurs in the nanofluid hybrid (60:40), for the nanofluid hybrid (80:20) it is an increase of 31.1%.

Abstract

The unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia consists of thousands of islands scattered from Sabang to Merauke. The foremost islands in Indonesia are rarely visited by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, which may be one of the reasons why there are no marine service vehicles such as on land and in the air. Therefore we need a very special marine vessel (VVIP) made of selected materials. Some of the requirements that must be met are light, fast, bullet proof, anti-fire, safe and comfortable for the occupants. The most important part of a ship is the hull. The hull must be made of very strong materials such as Kevlar,Polyester and Jute. These materials have been widely used for military purposes. The main material for the hull of the ship,namely Kevlar, jute and polyester composites are tested for quality to meet SNI/ISO standards. The test results on Kevlar, Polyester and Jute materials are that the weight of Kevlar HT1 is 130 g/m2 and Polyester /Jute 65/35% 210 g /m2 (SNI / ISO 3801: 2010). The tensile strength of HT1 kevlar is 5300 N/5 cm (H/V) (ISO 13934-1) and Polyester/Jute 65/35%, 885.42 N/2.5 cm (H), 403.83 N/2, 5 cm (V) (SNI 0276: 2009). The number of warp and weft of Kevlar HT1 was 10 strands / 1.0 cm (ISO 7211-2) and the amount of warp and weft Polyester /Jute 65/35%  is 41 strands / 1.0 cm (V) and 22 strands / 1.0 cm (H) (SNI / ISO 7211-2: 2010). The pattern of Kevlar HT1 is plate and 65/35% Polyester /Jute is keper 2/1 (SNI / ISO 7211-1: 2010).

Abstract

Kersen (Muntingia calabura L.) is a tropical plant from the Muntingiaceae family which is a wild plant that is often found in Indonesia. This plant is one of the herbal plants that are used as natural antioxidants. The purpose of this study was to obtain a drying model of cherry leaf extract and determine the activity of flavonoids as antioxidants in cherry leaf extract. The method used to obtain cherry leaf extract using ultrasonic sonication with a wavelength of 40 kHz. Variations made in the test are the length of drying time (30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, 120 minutes) and to find the most suitable drying model between Newton and Page. Concentration of cherry leaf extract using a rotary vacuum evaporator. Identification of cherry leaf extract, namely: determining the absorbance value for flavonoids and IC50 (Inhibitor Concentration) using UV-Vis Spectrophotometry and then determining the antioxidant content. The results of the study obtained that the highest wet extract yield was treated with a drying time of 30 minutes, which was 34.1%. The highest total flavonoid content was found in the 30 minute drying time treatment, which was 51,067 g/ml. The test of antioxidant levels obtained by IC50 is 0.89 ppm which is a strong antioxidant. The most suitable drying model is the Newton drying model with the equation MR=exp-(0.0029t) with a value of R2 = 0.9867 with k = 0.0029.

Abstract

The development of the world in the automotive field is now growing and growing rapidly. Very rapid development in the field of automotive motor vehicles, But what we already know with the thinning. Fuel is a problem we face today. As for finding a tool that can save fuel motor vehicles. R option gasoline ring is a fuel saver tool made of stainless steel that has 12,400 gauss magnets that have 1 inlet and 1 outlet. Analysis of the performance of premium fuel and pertamax with the option of gasoline R ring is done to know the ratio of power, torque and premium AFR and pertamax, both before and. The test results and calculations for the premium variables obtained power up to 0,2 HP, torque up by 3%, AFR more efficient 7.4%. While for the pertamax variable in getting power up to 0,2 HP, torque rose by 5.3%, AFR more efficient 8.4%.

Abstract

The fulfillment of clean water needs is one indicator of the level of quality of human life in an area, where clean water pipelines play an important role in supporting the fulfillment of the demand for clean water by the community. The population density of South Jakarta is 15,900 people per km2 with the highest population density is in Tebet District, namely 23,419 people per km2. As much as 51 percent of the population in Tebet uses groundwater as a source of clean water and the rest uses PAM water. The purpose of this study is to calculate the amount of clean water needs in the present condition and predict the water needs for the future conditions needed by residents in Tebet. By using the Stella 9.0.1 software, with the input of data on the number of villagers and the population growth rate, the population of Tebet District each year with a population growth graph can be determined to increase. It's different with projections that intervene with many factors, but show a decrease in water production and increase for domestic consumption, with projected weather variables not experiencing changes in water crises. In general, the trend of the level of water demand in 2019 and 2028 shows a decrease in water demand for irrigation, while the level of water demand for households, cities and industries (RKI) has increased.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has spread to all corners of the world including Indonesia, so the Indonesian government is trying to prevent and reduce the spread of Covid-19 by restricting community activities known as Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) and Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). In the business world, especially in the industry, the number of cases of COVID-19 in a company and the implementation of the PPKM will affect the company's operations in terms of production and delivery of goods. This condition requires a study of how big the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and its implementation on company operations is. The purpose of this research is to find out the percentage of company employees who are exposed to COVID-19, to find out the impact caused by the spread of COVID-19 and PPKM on the production and delivery of goods and to find out the difficulty of getting oxygen when oxygen is prioritized for people with COVID-19 . The research was conducted by sending questionnaires to 333 companies that produce automotive components. The results of this study indicate that during the COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of PPKM, most companies (more than 90%) stated their readiness to carry out the production process and delivery of goods to consumers and only a small proportion (less than 10%) experienced obstacles in the production process. and delivery of goods to customers.

Abstract

An increase in population will have a major impact on the environment, such as an increase in the volume of waste. The second largest composition of waste after food waste is plastic waste, which is a type of waste that is difficult to decompose. One of them is coffee packaging plastic waste. Recycling is a way that can be done to reduce coffee packaging plastic waste, namely by separating the plastic layer and the aluminum layer. The aluminum layer can be processed into alum. The purpose of this study is to separate the plastic layer and aluminum layer using the green solvent method using methanoic acid, the effect of variations in the concentration of KOH with a concentration of H2SO4 6M, and determining the optimum dose in reducing COD and BOD levels in wastewater tofu industry. The results showed that with the variation of the higher concentration of KOH, the yield of alum produced was also higher. Alum research results were compared with commercial alum. Comparison of these two types of alum shows that alum produced in this study resulted in higher COD and BOD removal efficiency than commercial alum, but with different coagulant doses.

Abstract

As an agricultural country, Indonesia still prioritizes the agricultural sector as one of the industries that play an essential role in supporting the country's economic growth. One of the priority commodities is tomatoes. Tomatoes are very susceptible to damage. This damage will significantly affect the quality of the tomatoes before they reach consumers. It is necessary to have proper post-harvest handling so that tomatoes still have the quality that is always maintained, one of which is cold storage, which has done to lower the temperature of the product so that it will slow down the respiration rate before further post-harvest handling has carried out. However, storage at too low temperatures can cause chilling injury so that the quality of tomatoes decreases. The edible coating method by dipping is an alternative to delay ripening so that it inhibits the metabolic process. This study aimed to determine the effect of storage time and temperature on edible coatings on tomatoes. The research method begins with manufacturing an edible coating solution from Raja Bulu banana starch. With a factorial CRD (Completely Randomized Design) consisting of two factors. The first factor is the storage temperature which consists of two levels, namely refrigerator temperature (0-4áµ’C), chiller temperature (10-15áµ’C), and the second factor is storage time with five levels, namely storage time (2 days; 4 days; 6 days; 8 days and 10 days), so in this study, there is a factorial of 2 x 5 combinations with three replications. The analysis test of the sample results consisted of a weight loss test, color test, organoleptic, and regression analysis. The results obtained on tomatoes with an edible coating indicate a real and significant effect on the inhibition of chilling injury. This study proves that tomatoes given an edible coating using Raja Bulu banana can maintain their quality in cold storage and inhibit chilling injury in tomatoes.

Abstract

Kernel Bulk is a temporary shelter for kernels produced at the Palm Oil Mill, before sending process to buyers. The problem is, it is not known exactly how many production kernels have been produced and collected in Kernel Bulk. Daily kernel stock measurements are usually carried out in the Kernel Storage. which can only be done the next day when the factory has stopped processing. The Automatic Weighing System Prototype is designed to provide convenience in monitoring kernel production results at any time. It is hoped that the system will be able to provide measurement data quickly and in real time. By using the Kernel Bulk model as used in the factory, as well as the use of several sensors and controllers as system controllers. In this study, four Loadcells were used as Kernel weight measuring sensors, as well as the HX711 Module signal amplifier to send measurement data to the microcontroller. Arduino Uno R3 is embedded in this prototype as a controller that functions to read sensor measurement results and provide instructions for the next stage of measurement. The Liquid Crystal Display is embedded in the panel box, to make it easier to read the measured weight. The results showed that the automatic weight measurement system worked well, with a bulk capacity of 4.7 kg, a volume of 0.008 m3, a bulk load mass of 4.7 kg, a leg strength of 70 MPa, and an electromotor with a voltage of 220 VAC, 0.2A with a rotating output of 10 RPM. The level of accuracy of mass measurement is 93.9817%.
