Abstract

This research explores the complex dimensions of sanitation issues, particularly focusing on the systematic structural transformation needed for long-term and resilient changes in achieving equitable access to clean water and sanitation. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach, the study draws insights from the case of West Java, exemplifying challenges arising from geographical conditions, industrial waste exposure, and limited public understanding. Emphasizing the importance of inclusive policies, the research underscores the significance of participatory deliberative democracy, as advocated by Jurgen Habermas, in addressing sanitation complexities. The findings reveal the necessity for a holistic and sustainable approach to sanitation policies, actively involving marginalized communities in decision-making processes. By examining successful grassroots initiatives and adopting a collaborative, affordable, and socially aware model, the study recommends a comprehensive strategy to integrate sanitation improvements into broader poverty alleviation and property security agendas. Ultimately, the research emphasizes the importance of societal collaboration, affordable solutions, and a nuanced understanding of socio-economic issues in addressing sanitation challenges in informal settlements.

The prostitute industry has long been a subject of research interest in the social, economic, and cultural contexts of various regions around the world. Therefore, the aim of this research is to understand the dynamics of socio-economic life and to find out the survival strategies of prostitutes in Bungurasih Surabaya. This research uses the theory of symbolic interactionism proposed by George Herbert Mead. These relationships can be cooperative or competitive and are often influenced by economic factors and social controls. The prostitutes must overcome significant social stigma and discrimination, which can impact their psychological and emotional well-being.

Abstract

Yogyakarta is a province with very good gender development when viewed from the Gender Empowerment Index and Gender Development Index. However, gender mainstreaming and performance content produced from the official Instagram @dp3ap2diy is still so minimal that it needs to be examined and analyzed. This research uses descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The data found was analyzed through the process of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results showed that there was 61 content with the theme of gender mainstreaming during the period August 2022-July 2023. The majority of the content, namely 32 uploads were in the form of documentation. The lowest performance was in September with 26 likes, while December was the highest with 1,579 likes. In August, September, January, March, and June no comments were obtained. The message entitled gender mainstreaming shows inconsistencies and there is still content that tends to be masculine or supports excessive burdens on women. Further analysis using the NPower Northwest approach shows that financial aspects can have a broad impact, but there are still shortcomings in conducting research and setting goals. The use of resources is less than optimal and causes organizations to use more reactive communication practices.

Abstract

Social media life is where communication and individuals and communities are characterized through social media networks. Concerns about the adverse effects of social media have directed public attention to media literacy as a potential solution. The SMILE Model is an effort to equip social media literacy that can influence social media use (in terms of exposure and self-expression), ultimately positively impacting individual/adolescent well-being. The results showed that most respondents preferred video content and a combination of video and text. Influencers' influence also influenced the use of social media, but only 25% of respondents felt that influencers had a significant impact on their use. Good social media literacy involves cognitive understanding and emotional regulation to improve emotional well-being. Balanced and healthy social media use can reduce loneliness and increase social support.
