Abstract

This research aimed to study the performance of broiler raised in 3 stair floors. This research had been done from 09 September to 12 Oktober 2016 at Purwosari, Pasuruan. The data of performance was obtained from a poultry house which divided into 3 floors. The brooding period was given for 2 weeks in 2nd floor, on 15th days the chicken were separated into 1st and 3rd floor with the same house density. The obtained data was analyzed using T-test (independent samples T-test) to see the difference in between. The result of this research showed that there were highly significant differences on body weight gain, slaughter weight, and feed conversion ratio of broiler between 1st and 3rd floor. However, the differences floor did not contribute to differences on feed consumption (2.357 g/bird on 1st floor and 2.351 g/bird on 3rd floor). The body weight gain of broiler at 1st floor (1.293±96.52 g/bird) was lower than 3rd floor (1.331±82.77 g/bird). The final weight of broiler at 1st floor (1.780±90.6 g/bird) was lower than 3rd floor (1.818±81.8 g/bird). Feed conversion ratio of broiler at 1st floor (1.83±0.14) was higher than 3rd floor (1.77±0.11). The conclusion of this research was that the performance of broiler raising at 3rd floor has better performance than those at 1st floor. It is suggested to further research to determine the best production performance of broilers reared on the 1st floor, 2nd floor and 3rd floor. Keywords: depletion, microclimate, stair floors

Abstract

The purpose of this research were to describe: (1) the implementation of farmers group’s activities in increasing the production of beef cattle, (2) the success of farmers group’s activities in increasing the production of beef cattle and, (3) the success of the farmers group’s role in empowering the farmers. The method of this research was a descriptive with qualitative model. The subject was officers of Satwa Mulya and citizen of Brajan Village. The research data were collected by using the method of participation and observation, interview, and documentation. The researcher wasthe main instrument which assisted with guidelines for observation, interview, and documentation.Method in this research were used data display, data reduction, and conclusion drawing.The results showed that: (1) The existence of farmers groups can increase the farmers knowledge in managing the beef cattle business started from seed selection, feeding, maintenance and marketing. In addition, also be increased the motivation and solidarity of farmers within the group. (2) While the implementation of farmers group’s activities in increasing the beef cattle production is good enough which includes: awarding the concentrates weighing livestock from government, artificial insemination, supplementation and pregnancy checking. (3) Furthermore the success of the farmers group’s role in communitiesproductivity can be seen from the increasing prosperity of farmers in Brajan village.So, it can be concluded that existence of farmers group’s can increase the knowlegde of farmers especially about beef cattle production, their motivation and unity or farmers in its group. Keywords: farmers group, productivity, beef cattle

Abstract

The purpose of this research was todetermine the effect of Curcuma Aeruginosa Roxb.(C. Aeruginosa) powder addition on serum lipid (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL and triglycerides) and productivity of Peking duck. The material of the study were one hundred and twenty peking ducks aged 2 days old  with initial body weight ± 65 g. The experiment applied a completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 4 replications. Each replication consisted of 6 ducks. The treatment consisted of T0 = 0% C. Aeruginosa powder, T1 = 0.75% C. aeruginosa powder, T2 = 1% C. aeruginosa powder, T3= 1.25% C. aeruginosa powder and T4 = 1.5% C. aeruginosa powder. Comercial diet with 23% protein was given from day 2 to day 14 while day 15 ducks were given diet with 17.5% protein and 3029.7 kcal/kg metabolic energy. Curcuma aeruginosa powder was given on day 25 to day 57. Daily consumption was recorded and body weight was recorded once a week. Both samples were taken on day 57. The data were processed by ANOVA at P= 0.05. The results showed that addition of 1.25% C.Aeruginosa powder (T3) had the lowest consumption, higher body weight and body weight gain (BWG) with lowest feed conversion. Curcuma aeruginosa powder only affected significantly the HDL. All groups with C. aeruginosa addition showed higher HDL than control group. It can be concluded that addition of 1,25% (T3) C. Aeruginosa powder will produced the highest serum HDL, and provide better productivity. Keywords: C. aureginosa, Peking duck and serum lipid

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the quality of Simental frozen semen based on the temperatures and duration of thawing. The materials used in this study were frozen semen of Simental cattle. The study used a laboratory experiment using a completely randomized design (CRD) factorial with 6 treatments and 10 replications. The thawing temperatures were 37°C and 25°C and the durations of thawing were 7 seconds, 15 seconds and 30 seconds. The variables observed in this study were the motility, viability and abnormality of Simental frozen semen. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The difference in advanced test was done by using the smallest Real Difference Test. The results showed that the temperature and duration of thawing and the interaction of temperature and duration of thawing provide a highly significant difference (P <0.01) on motility, viability and abnormality of Simental frozen semen. The highest motility (45,5%) and viability (75,65%) were found on 37°C and during 30 seconds of thawing, and the lowest abnormality was 4,71%. This study concludes that the optimal thawing temperature and the lenght of thawing for Simental frozen semen is 37°C and 30 seconds respectively. Keywords:thawing, sperm, motility, viability, temperature, abnormality

Abstract

This research was conducted in Bakso Bakar Pak Man from 7th March to 5th April 2016 through a survey method guided by a structured questionnaire. The respondents were selected using accidental sampling technique. The multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyse the data. The results showed that the characteristics of consumer were dominated by female students aged from 17-22 years old, lived in Malang and had monthly income > IDR. 2,000,000. Mostly, they got information about Bakso Bakar Pak Man from their families and friends. The brand image variables (corporate image, user image and product image) simultaneously influenced the consumers’ loyality of “bakso bakar Pak Man”. It can be concluded that brand image variable which consisted of corporate image, user image and product image had a  positive influence to the consumers’ loyality of Bakso Bakar Pak Man. The most influential variable to “bakso bakar Pak Man”consumer’s loyality was corporate image. It is recommended to “bakso bakar Pak Man” to maintain their service quality and product variant for increasing the consumer’s interest and be acquainted with other media. The employee performance, product quality and facilities have to be improved in order to maintain the positive brand image of Bakso Bakar Pak Man. Keywords: corporate image, user image, product image, consumer loyality

Abstract

In countries with high plant biodiversity such as Indonesia, the availability of food of plant origin is very diverse. The presence of anti-nutrients in plants would potentially cause problems in cattle if not managed properly. phytic acid is one anti nutritional factor  that have a role in disrupting the health and productivity The term phytate refers to the molecule phytic acid, which generally acts as a chelate to Mg, Ca, Na, and K, and in some cases protein and carbohydrates. Seeds of cereals, legumes and oilseed plant which is used as animal feed usually contains a lot of phytic acid which can cause a decline in nutritional value. However, with a variety of processing methods, levels of phytic acid in animal feed can be reduced or even eliminated. In addition to the processing method, the method of adding phytase enzyme may also be done to improve the nutritional value of the animal feed ingredients.Keywords:anti-nutrients.phytic acid. processingmethods.phytase

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the effect of castration to Wagyu crossbreed cattle production performance based on age difference and know the appropriate age to do castration. The materials used in this research were 37 heads of 3-month old and 28 heads 4 months calf castration. The method was case studies with purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using unpaired t test. The results showed that the calf castration age of 3 months and 4 months showed significantly different (P <0.05) in daily body weight gain and feed conversion. The average daily weight gain of 3 months old calf castration was 0.78 kg / head / day and 4 months old calf castration was 0.85 kg / head / day and feed conversion of 3 months old calf castration was 5.14 and 4 months old calf castration was 4.48, while the feed intake of the research results were not significantly different. The average feed consumption of 3 months old calf castration was 3.82 kg / head / day and 4 months old calf castration was 3.66 kg / head / day. Calves were castrated on 4 months old showed higher daily weight gain than the calf castration on 3 months old. This could be concluded that 4 months old was more appropriate to do castration. Keywords: Average daily gain, calf stock, feed convertion, castration

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know about the successfully artificial insemination (AI) using frozen and liquid semen of Ongole cross (PO) cattle indicated by Service per Conception (S/C), Days Open (DO) dan Conception Rate (CR). The materials used were 60 heads of Ongole crossbred cattle which were selected purposively using some criteria, such as having calving experience, healthy, and free from any reproduction disorder. This field experiment consisted of direct observation and interview to acquire primary and secondary data. Datas were analyzed descriptively and continued by a paired t-test. The results showed that the value of (S/C) was very significantly different (P<0.01),  DO was not significantly different (P>0.05). CR for P1, P2, P3, and P4 was found 63.33% , 86.67%, 16.33%, 83.33% respectively. The conclusion of this research was AI using frozen and liquid semen with only 5 days preservation had a difference on the value of service per conception. The most successfull AI was found higher in the liquid semen which was stored for 1 and 5 days than that of frozen semen. Key words : semen, service per conception, days open, calving interval

Abstract

This research aims at investigating the proportion of several types of tree foliages leaves as animal feed in different locations and altitudes in Malang Raya. The case study was conducted in five districts of Malang Raya where were assumed as the centre of goat farms. The results showed that there were 30 types of forage used as goat feeds, both leaves of tree foliages and shrubs, or grasses, crop residues and others. Most forages (73%) were leaves of tree foliages and shrubs, both legumes, and non-legumes. Tree foliage leaves were more used as goat feeds in the study area with higher altitude, whereas in the area with lower altitude, farmers also utilized grasses and crop residues. The leaves of tree foliages were Paraserianthes falcataria, Gliricidia sepium, Artocarpus heterophyllus, Leucaena leucocephala and Calliandra calothyrsus. Paraserianthes falcataria was most widely used in Klampok-Singosari (88.3%). The proportion of Calliandra calothyrsus ranged from 32 to 98%, while Gliricidia sepium was 58-98%, both were most widely used in Argoyuwono-Ampelgading. Artocarpus heterophyllus was most widely used in Wajak (90.3%), whereas Leucaena leucocephala leaf was used by all respondents (100%) in Sumberdem-Wonosari. It is necessary to evaluate the quality of these tree foliage leaves to provide a better animal feed through supplementation technology. Keyword: altitudes, foliages, leave, location
