Abstract

This study is aimed at identifying the students’ ability in writing thesis statement. By implementing descriptive method, twelve students’ texts were analyzed and the focuswas on the introduction section of their essays. Interview was conducted to justifythe result of students’ text analysis, and also to find out the problems they faced inthe process of writing and the possible solutions. The result showed that the mainproblems were on the grammar rules of the essay and how the ideas were delivered.These were mostly caused by the low capacity of the students’ grammaticalcompetence. It is therefore suggested that the teacher should give various exercisesin the use of grammar of essay writing and how the ideas could be delivered well.Keywords: writing, thesis statement, grammar rules

Abstract

AbstrakMembaca merupakan pintu gerbang masuknya peradaban dan pengetahuanke dalam diri manusia. Sebegitu dahsyatnya pengaruh membaca sehingga mampumemotivasi banyak orang untuk membaca. Tak sedikit tokoh-tokoh pembaharudunia yang tumbuh dan besar dari membaca. Lebih gila lagi, berbekalkan buku yangdibaca mereka bisa mengenal dan berinteraksi dengan penulis dan tokoh dunia. Namun demikian, tak sedikit pula orang yang berasumsi bahwa membacamerupakan kegiatan yang membosankan dan belum dianggap penting. Kegiatanyang seharusnya dibudayakan dan menjadi tali penghubung ilmu pengetahuannyatanya belum mendapat tempat istimewa dikalangan masyarakat.Permasalahan yang diangkat dalam pembahasan artikel ini adalah apa yangharus dilakukan dan cara apa yang harus ditempuh guna menyakralkan kembalikegiatan membaca di tengah permasalahan-permasalahan yang sedang menjamursaat ini. Pembahasan meliputi kegiatan mengasah potensi dasar kita yang masihtersimpan rapih di dalam alam bawah sadar, dan gambaran tokoh-tokoh besar duniayang menemukan jati dirinya melalui kegiatan membaca.Kata Kunci : keterampilam membaca, dimensi lain.

Abstract

Bahasa merupakan roda berpikir manusia dalam menuangkan ide,pikiran danperasaannya.Berbahasa berarti berperilaku sosial dilingkungan keluarga danmasyarakat.Bahas sebagai cerminan diri seseorang melalui bahasa seseorang mampumenunjukan eksistensinya,bahkan kelemahannya.Bhasa yang pertamakali dikuasaanak saat belajar berbicara adalah bahasa ibu.Berbahasa ibu ini pun beragam,setelahmenguasai bahasa ibu tentunya dengan tuntutan dan motivasi yang beragam seseorangmempelajari bahasa kedua,bahasa ketiga berdasarkan kebutuhannya.Tentunyadidikung berdasrkan komponen-komponen tertentu. Kedudukan bahasa indosesiasebagai pengantar pembelajaran merupakan hal yang biasa dan memang wajib.Namunpenggunaan bahasa ibu berbasis bahasa daerah ini sungguh langka terutama dalampembelajaran di sekolah formal.Namun Pembelajaran ini dirasa cukup ampuhditerapakn dalam upaya pelestarian bahasa daerah yang hampir tersisih denganbanyaknya orang tua yang mengajarkan bahasa pertamanya menggunakan bahasanasioanal.Sungguh ironis bak momok yang menakutkan.Semua ini dapat dihindaridengan menerapkan penggunaan bahasa ibu sebagai pengantar dalam pembelajaranbahasa kedua disekolah formal.Mengingat kemungkinan-kemungkinan yang bisaterjadi salahsatu bentuk pengoptimalisasiannya adalah membiasakan,membudayakan, mempertahankan bahasa ibu (merujuk ke bahasa daerah) yangmampu mensejajarkan kedudukannya dengan bahasa nasional maupun bahasaasing.Didukung dengan motivasi dan peran guru dan pihak-pihak yang dapatmemberikan kontribusi dalam pengajaran bahasa di sekolah.Kata Kunci : Bahasa Ibu, pembelajaran bahasa

Abstract

Children’s low interest in reading storybook is caused by the lack of variety of books in the markets. One of the effort to increase the variety of books is to use the settings of a Scout’s Raiser activity. The aim of this study is to find out the quality of the books in the markets, the needs of storybooks based on the Scout’s Raiser activity, and to design a storybook based on the setting of Scout’s Raiser Activity. The data was collected through observation, interview, and questionnaires. The result of the study was a children’s storybook with a Scout’s Raiser activity as the background of the story. The students want a storybook about adventure, which is using a communicative language, contains an illustration that describes the story, and also a cheerful color that can attract them. The design of the storybook based on the settings of Scout’s Raiser activity was arranged based on the questionnaires.

Abstract

Literary work is not born out of the void culture. Literary works can not be regarded as a mere fiction. Charge meanings into one literary charm. Learning literature always cause problems. Ranging from limited knowledge of the teacher to the position of literary works for students. The low ability of interpretation of a literary work of teachers and students is also a problem in the learning literature. Literary works to bring the mission to inculcate noble values and shape the character of his readers. Through literature teachers can shape the attitudes and character of students. Alienation literature for students is a problem that has occurred at this time. Literary works have a close relationship with culture. Literature was born from the culture of literature also reflects the culture. How many local wisdom drawn from the culture. One example of literary works are full of cultural values is rhyme. The values depicted in the poem describes that Indonesian culture is one of deliberation andconsensus.Keywords: literature, language learning, learning literature

Abstract

Karya sastra merupakan dokumen dari peristiwa yang terjadi di masyarakat yangdisajikan bersama imaji dari pengarang. Sebagai sebuah bacaan karya sastraberperan menjadi sarana komunikasi pengarang dengan pembaca (masyarakat)untuk menyampaikan pesan atau sebuah gagasan. Gagasan pengarang tersebutmerupakan sebuah kekuatan hegemoni yang akan mendominasi pemikiranpembaca. Kekuatan hegemoni satra terbentuk karena tersarikan dari fakata sosialkmudian diproses dengan imajinasi lalu disajikan alam bentuk fiksi yangkontekstual. Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of the method show not tell in the process of learning to write short stories for the improvement of learning outcomes to write a short story using the Show Not Tell the students of class XI High School DDI Alliritengae Maros. This research is an action research conducted in two cycles. The data source of this research is an Indonesian teacher and students as many as 30 people. Data collection techniques used were observation and tests. The data in this study of the data and the data of the learning process of learning to write short stories using the Show Not Tell. Data were analyzed with the learning process qualitative descriptive techniques, while learning outcome data were analyzed with descriptive quantitative techniques. Learning outcomes through the method of writing short stories Show Not Tell in the first cycle reaches an average value of 59.17, while in the second cycle reached an average value of 80.37. Difference in the average value of 21.1 students. The average value of higher students in the second cycle than the first cycle, the results indicate an increase in learning to write short stories.Keywords: learning, writing, short stories, Show Not Tell.
