Abstract

Introduction. Archives are not only seen as a product but also as a process to produce knowledge particularly, through interdisciplinary collaborations in the era of postmodernisme. The postmodernism perspective may influence the interpretation of archives which leads to archival discourse. This study aims to investigate the postmodernism perspective of archives in the knowledge production process in a more impartial and democratic way. Data Collection Methods. This study used a qualitative approach through literature study. Results and Discussion. The postmodernism perspective has opened up new viewpoints on the role and function of archives in the knowledge production process for searching and reading archives in a more diverse manner. In this study, several discussed archives were related to human rights, community engagement, accountability, and power relations, as well as social and transitional justice. The postmodernism perspective of archives as intellectual control in the production of knowledge through interdisciplinary collaboration and as one of the sustainable international projects may establish intellectual networks between countries. Conclusion. The postmodernism perspective has provoked new ideas and expanded the discourse on archives needed in the development of the archival field. Archivists as well as historians play a new role as users of archives who have a responsibility in intellectual control to write democratic historical narratives.

Introduction. This study examines the effect of job descriptions and capability specifications on the information seeking behaviour patterns of policy analysts at the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform. Data Collection Methods. Data was gathered via questionnaires. The respondents were 118 policy analysts across beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Data Analysis. Research data were analysed using PLS-SEM. Results and Discussion. The study reveals that the job descriptions had a positive impact on the policy analysts’ information-seeking habits at the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform. However, the capability specifications did not show any substantial positive effect. Conclusion. The research concludes that job descriptions play a crucial role in shaping the information-seeking behaviour of policy analysts, whereas the impact of capability specifications remains insignificant. The study further suggests several stakeholders responsible for managing information, like libraries, should take an active role in handling the data produced by policy analysts from various units. This would help the sustainable use of such data in the creation of public policies.

Abstract

Introduction. The development of organizational restructuring has growth rapidly. The research aims to see and find out the development of research trends on organizational restructuring. It also aims to see opportunities for future research on organizational restructuring, particularlyin public research organizations.Data Collection Methods. The paper used a quantitative bibliometric analysis with the Scopus database for the last 10 years from 2013 to 2022. Data Analysis. Bibliometric data analysis uses co-occurrence to visualize keywords, networks, density, and overlays. The visualization results are presented using VOSviewer software with a comprehensive narrative method. Results and Discussion. The finding showed that the organizational restructuring research has been dominated by the private sector. Meanwhile however, in the public sector, it showed that the health sector played a significant role. The United States became the country that has discussed the topic of organizational restructuring most extensively. In addition, based on keywords, there were four visualization clusters: human, organizational change, organizational culture, and health care organization. Conclusion. Opportunities show for organizational restructuring research at public research institutions. Other approaches need to be explored instead of using bibliometric analysis.

Abstract

Introduction. This paper investigates how the academic library's concepts, functions, and roles as the center of scholarly and student activities are portrayed in the novel Babel by R.F. Kuang. Data Collection Methods. This research used Bengtsson’s qualitative content analysis model. Data was collected through an extensive reading and found 111 data that matched with the research focus. Data Analysis. Data were analyzed through decontextualization with open coding and then recontextualized into 89 data to categorize and interpret. Results and Discussion. The library supported students by being portrayed as a learning commons, co-working space, and makerspace; hence it became the scholarly activity center for scholars. Libraries are not portrayed neutral in providing services and tend to limit students’ research scope and public access to information. The libraries are also used for non-academic activities, such as a source of magical power production and knowledge development center, the center of social and student movements. The library representation in the novel is not only a critique towards academia and its information institutions, but also an example of the library’s negative stereotype. Conclusion. From the author's perspective, the library is portrayed as a center for scholarly activities and directly involved in student political life as it becomes the center of student movements.
