Abstract

Morinda citrifolia is efficacious for treating several degenerative diseases such as cancer, tumors, and diabetes. These substances have been proven to be antibacterial substances due to infectious bacteria such as, Proteus morganii, Bassilus subtilis, Staphylococus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Echercia coli. This community service aims to utilize noni fruit, ginger, and honey as a form of application for the application of research results in community outreach held in Bangetayu Wetan village. Noni fruit that has been fermented is then tested against Eschericia coli and Salmonella typhi bacteria using micro titers. The results showed that at a concentration of 25%, there was inhibition of the growth of Salmonella typhi bacteria, while for Escheria coli at a concentration of 25%, growth inhibition began to occur. With a very large concentration of the taste of this fermentation, the acidity and smell of noni that is typical for some people may find it difficult to accept. Based on the results of the community service to the community, the community welcomes the results of the community that have been distributed to the entire community properly.

Abstract

During adolescence, nutritional needs increase to support physical growth and cognitive development. However, Indonesian adolescents still face nutritional problems such as malnutrition, obesity, and anemia. The widespread use of smartphones among adolescents provides opportunities for digital health education through applications such as KlikDokter. This community service activity aimed to improve adolescents’ knowledge of balanced nutrition using the KlikDokter application. The activity was conducted through direct health education for students of class 7C at SMP Negeri 18 Surakarta using a pretest and post-test design. The results showed an increase in students’ knowledge after receiving education on adolescent nutrition and the use of the BMI calculator feature in the application. Pretest results showed 17 students in the very good category, 9 in the good category, and 2 in the sufficient category. In the post-test, 22 students were categorized as very good and 6 as good. In conclusion, health education using the KlikDokter application effectively improved adolescents’ knowledge and understanding of balanced nutrition and healthy eating habits because the application is easily accessible and suitable for adolescents’ digital lifestyles.

Abstract

Dental health care problems in elementary school children include a lack of student knowledge about dental and oral health maintenance, low toothbrushing skills, and a lack of optimal student involvement in health promotion at school. This community service activity aims to increase students' knowledge and empower them as dental health promotion agents in caries prevention. The method used is participatory training through counseling, demonstrations, and practices using adhesive doll media, pocket-books, and dental phantoms. Students also take part in a simulation of the role of a health promotion agent to convey education to their peers. The stages of the activity include pretest, training, educational simulation, monitoring, and posttest. Follow-up is carried out through toothbrush assistance twice a day, control of karyogenic food consumption in the School Dental Health Business (UKGS) program, and periodic monitoring by teachers and the implementation team. The results showed an increase in student knowledge, from 80% in the category of goods before training to 100% after training. Student empowerment as dental health promotion agents has proven to be effective as a promotive and preventive strategy in supporting sustainable dental and oral health behaviors in the school environment.

Abstract

The development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the healthcare sector has provided various conveniences in accessing digital health services, such as online consultations, medication ordering, and access to health information through Android-based applications. However, the utilization of these technologies in the community remains suboptimal due to low levels of digital literacy and limited public trust in health applications. This community service activity aimed to improve public knowledge, skills, interest, and trust in using Android-based health applications. The activity was conducted through counseling sessions and hands-on workshops for residents of Alfatih Regency Phase IV, Tenayan Raya, Pekanbaru City. The results showed improvements across all indicators after the implementation of the program. Public knowledge, capabilities, and trust in health applications are increasing. The N-Gain analysis demonstrated high-category improvements in knowledge (0.79) and application usage skills (0.73), while interest (0.58) and trust (0.54) were categorized as moderate. This activity proved effective in improving community digital literacy in the healthcare sector and can serve as an initial step toward broader utilization of digital health services within the community.

Abstract

Issues relating to undernutrition, stunting, and overnutrition remain public health challenges that can affect children’s growth and development. Therefore, efforts are needed to ensure early detection and raise awareness of the importance of monitoring children’s nutritional status. The objective of this community service activity was to determine the nutritional status of young children through anthropometric measurements of pupils at 20. The activity was carried out using a participatory approach through the stages of planning, coordination, anthropometric measurement, and data analysis, involving 952 children. Measurements included weight, height, upper arm circumference (UAC), and anthropometric index assessments based on WHO standards. Based on UAC measurements, almost all children fell into the ‘good nutrition’ category. Based on height-for-age, many children had normal height, although some children were still classified as short or very short, and some children were underweight, malnourished, or overweight, even obese. These findings indicate the existence of a double burden of malnutrition among young children. This initiative helps detect nutritional problems in young children at an early stage and raises awareness among schools and parents regarding the importance of regular growth monitoring. The results of this initiative can serve as a basis for developing nutritional interventions to support optimal child growth and development.
