Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan interpretasi falsafah hidup Karma Marga Yoga dan interpretasi ajaran Karma Marga Yoga dalam naskah Sêrat Bhagawad Gita. Metode penelitian meliputi dua tahap, yaitu metode filologi dan metode kualitatif. metode filologi dilakukan dengan tiga tahapan, yaitu transliterasi, suntingan, dan terjemahan teks. Metode penelitian kualitatif digunakan dalam interpretasi ajaran dan falsafah hidup teks. Sumber data penelitian ialah naskah berjudul Sêrat Bhagawad Gita. Analisis dilakukan dengan analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Pengesahan data digunakan validitas semantik dan reliabilitas (intrarater dan inerrater). Hasil penelitian adalah sebagai berikut: (1) falsafah hidup Karma Marga Yoga yaitu (a) berbuat baik merupakan kewajiban manusia, (b) berbuat dengan mengendalikan panca indera dan nafsu, (c) melakukan yadnya, (d) berbuat tanpa pamrih, (e) berbuat berdasarkan Tri Guna; dan (2) Karma Marga Yoga merupakan jalan yang ditempuh untuk mencapai kesempurnaan hidup dengan cara melakukan berbuat tanpa pamrih serta memasrahkan segala hasilnya kepada Tuhan. Karma Marga Yoga, philosophy of life in the sricpt of Sêrat Bhagawad Gita AbstractThis research aimed to interpretate Karma Marga Yoga philosophy of life and interpretate the doctrine of Karma Marga Yoga in the manuscript of Sêrat Bhagawad Gita. The research used philology and qualitative methods. Philological method was carried out in three stages, namely the transliteration, editing, and translation of text. Qualitative method was used to interpretate the philosophy of life and the value of the theaching of the text. The source of the data was a manuscript of Sêrat Bhagawad Gita. Data was analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis. Validation of data used semantic validity and reliability (intrarater and interrater). The result of this research are as follows. (1) The philosophy of life from Karma Marga Yoga is (a) working is a human obligation, (b) working with controlled senses, (c) doing yadnya, (d) working selflessly, (e) doing based of Tri Guna. (2) Karma Marga Yoga is the way to achieve the perfection of life by doing the work without expecting the results.

Abstract

Dalam penelitian penerjemahan ini akan dikaji tentang nama persona dalam novel fantasi berjudul Tintentod karya Cornelia Funke. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi nama persona serta hasil terjemahannya, mengklasifikasi nama persona tersebut berdasarkan kategorisasi nama serta menganalisis teknik penerjemahan yang digunakan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah novel Tintentod berbahasa Jerman serta novel terjemahannya yang berbahasa Indonesia berjudul Tintentod dan berbahasa Inggris berjudul Inkdeath. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah satuan lingual yang berupa nama persona. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik simak dan catat. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah padan translasional. Dari hasil penilitian didapatkan: Pertama, terdapat 104 nama persona dari 78 tokoh di dalam novel Tintentod. Kedua, 65.3% nama persona yang ada dalam novel Tintentod termasuk dalam kategori nama depan dan nama pemberian. Ketiga, teknik transfer paling sering digunakan dalam penerjemahan nama persona baik dari bahasa Jerman ke Indonesia maupun bahasa Jerman ke Inggris. Perbedaannya teknik transfer lebih dominan dalam penerjemahan berbahasa Indonesia yakni 54.8% sedangkan pada penerjemahan berbahasa Inggris terdapat dua teknik yang sering digunakan yakni teknik trasfer sebesar 44.2% dan teknik diterjemahkan sebesar 43.2%. The translation of personal names in Tintentod Novel by Cornelia Funke AbstractThis study explores the translation of personal names in a fantasy novel that originally titled Tintentod and written by Cornelia Funke. This study aimed to investigate how personal names rendered into Indonesian and into English, to determine the names categorization of the personal names that found in novel and to analyze the translation techniques that used to translate the texts. This research was a descriptive qualitative. This study draws its data from novels originally written in German and translated into Indonesian titled Tintentod and into English titled Inkdeath. The data were linguistic units containing personal names. The data were collected through observations and note taking technique. The analysis technique was a translational. The research results are: (1) There are 107 personal name and 78 character found in this research. (2) they are classified into three categories, 65.3% of the personal names are included in the first categories. they are classified into first name and giving name category.(3) The transfer technique is mostly used in the personal name translation both from German into Indonesian and into English. The transfer technique is more dominant in Indonesian than in English. There are two translation techniques used in English, transfer technique 44.2% and translated technique 43.2%.

Abstract

This research was aimed at developing English writing instructional materials that are appropriate for second-year students of English Department at Champasak University. This research was a Research and Development study using model proposed by Jolly and Bolitho (1998). The subjects of this research were 30 learners who are students of English Department at Champasak University. Data were collected using questionnaires and interviews. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of needs analysis showed that students need to learn about (1) writing process, (2) students need to know and learn more about types of text, (3) students need to learn more about types of letter and (4) students need to learn about the cultures around them. The findings revealed that the English writing instructional materials in terms of aims and approaches, design and organization, language contents, skills, topics, methodology and practical consideration were appropriate for second-year students of English Department.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan menemukan bentuk interferensi sintaksis yang terdapat pada prosiding International Conference on Banking, Accounting, Management, and Economics (ICOBAME) 2018. Peneli-tian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah desain penelitian kualitatif dan jenis penelitian analisis isi. Terdapat 13 bentuk interferensi sintaksis yang terjadi dalam objek penelitian yang terdiri dari 8 bentuk interferensi dalam tataran frasa, 4 bentuk interferensi dalam tataran klausa, dan 7 bentuk interferensi dalam tataran kalimat. Wujud perbedaan paling mendasar antara bahasa Indonesia dan bahasa Inggris, yaitu kaidah DM-MD, terealisasi dalam objek penelitian. Ditemukan data yang menunjukkan interferensi kaidah DM terhadap perwujudan yang seharusnya MD. Selain itu perbedaan tata bahasa yang lain yang terwujud dalam objek penelitian adalah bentuk-bentuk interferensi yang disebabkan oleh ketidaktepatan penggunaan preposisi, ketidaktepatan penggunaan definitive word, ketidaktepatan pemilihan kata dan kelas kata, ketidaktepatan penggunaan kata ‘no’ dan ‘not’, ketidaktepatan subject-verb agreement, ketidaktepatan penggunaan v-ing, ketidaktepatan bentuk paralelisasi, serta ketidaktepatan bentuk kata yang dipengaruhi kala dan penjamakan. Indonesian syntaxis interference of the ICOBAME 2018 Proceeding abstracts AbstractThis research was conducted with the aim of finding the syntaxis interference in the proceeding of the International Conference on Banking, Accounting, Management, and Economics (ICOBAME) 2018. This research was descriptive research. The design employed in this study was qualitative research design specifically content analysis. There were 13 syntaxis interference forms occur in the object of research consisting of 8 forms in phrasal level, 4 forms in clause level, and 7 forms in sentence level. The fundamental difference between Indonesian and English, that is the DM-MD rules, was barely anticipated. Other grammatical differences manifested in the research object were syntaxis interference caused by the inaccurate use of prepositions, inaccurate use of definitive words, inaccurate choice of words and class of words, inaccurate use of 'no' and 'not', inaccurate use of the subject-verb agreement, inaccurate use of v-ing, inaccurate forms of parallelization, and inaccurate use of word choice depending on the tense and pluralization.

Abstract

This article examines the development of an English textbook prototype for vocational high school (VHS) students of the Hotel Accommodation study program. Employing a research and development study design involving several steps of procedure: needs analysis, product development, product validation, product revision, product tryout, and final product development. The results of this research were there units of learning material, in which the content of materials and the topics mostly made related to the hotel fields by covering relevant daily activities and current issues and including various types of activities that cover the four English skills. According to the results of the field-testing, the units designed were eligible to be applied in the instructional process as indicated by the mean scores of the students’ agreement ranging from 4.2 to 5 on 5 to 1 Likert scale. This textbook prototype offers an insight to what English learning materials for Hotel Accommodation Study Program is supposed to be. Thus, it is an alternative model of learning material for teaching English for VHS.

Abstract

This study aims to find out (1) the effectiveness difference between the use of multiple intelligence activities and the conventional activities in listening comprehension, and in the students’ interest in learning English. This study used the quantitative method. The study design was quasi- experimental with the pre-test and the post-test group design. The experimental class used 5 categories of multiple intelligences namely; linguistic intelligence, logical/mathematical intelligence, visual intelligence, musical intelligence, and naturalist intelligence. This study used a listening comprehension test and a questionnaire as the research instruments for collecting the data. The technique of the data analysis in this study was MANOVA. The result shows that: (1) the use of multiple intelligence in listening comprehension is more effective than the conventional activities with sig 0.000; (2) the use of multiple intelligence activities in students’ interest in learning English is more effective than the conventional activities with sig 0.000.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan sebuah produk berupa multimedia interakif pembelajaran bahasa Inggris materi Expressions pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Ali Maksum Yogyakarta dan mengetahui keefektifan produk multimedia interaktif dalam pembelajaran. Penelitian dan pengembangan (research and development) merupakan jenis penelitian yang berorientasi pada produk. Model yang digunakan oleh peneliti dalam pengembangan ini adalah model pengembangan Borg dan Gall. Model ini memiliki 10 tahapan pengembangan. Kesepuluh tahap tersebut sebagai berikut. (1) research and information collecting. (2) Planning. (3) developing preliminary form of product. (4) Preliminary field testing. (5) Main product revision. (6) main field testing. (7) operational product revision. (8) operational field testing. (9) final product revision. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penilaian siswa serta peningkatan pemahaman materi expressions pada siswa maka multimedia interaktif ini layak dan sesuai digunakan dalam pembelajaran di kelas. Validasi materi mendapat skor 4,2 dengan kategori baik, validasi media mendapat skor 4,4 dengan kategori sangat baik. Terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar yang signifikan antara yang menggunakan multimedia interaktif dengan yang tidak menggunakan multimedia interaktif. Developing English material “expressions” junior highschool students AbstractThis research aims to produce a product in the form of interactive multimedia English learning material “Expressions” in eighth grade students of Ali Maksum Middle School Yogyakarta. Research and development (research and development) is a type of product-oriented research. The model used by researchers in this development was the Borg and Gall development model. This model has 10 stages of development. The ten stages are as follows. (1) Research and information collecting). (2) Planning. (3) Developing preliminary form of product. (4) Preliminary field testing. (5) Main product revision. (6) Main field testing. (7) operational product revision. (8) Operational field testing. (9) Final product revision. (10) Dissemination and application (desimination and implementation). The subjects of the trials were students of class VIII Ali Maksum Yogyakarta Yogyakarta.The results of the study showed that student assessments and understanding of expressions material were increased. Furthermore, this interactive multimedia is feasible and suitable for use in classroom learning

Abstract

This research aims at finding out the influence of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTSs), vocabulary mastery and reading motivation on reading comprehension achievement among State SMP Students in Magelang Regency. This research was an ex post facto design. The sampling technique was the proportional cluster random sampling. The research instruments were tests and a questionnaire. The data were analyzed using the multiple regression analysis continued by the partial correlation. The result of the multiple regressions indicates that HOTSs, vocabulary mastery and reading motivation influence reading comprehension achievement with the F=236.709 which means that significantly on reading comprehension achievement. The contribution of HOTSs on reading comprehension achievement is 38.7%, vocabulary mastery is 50.3%, and reading motivation is 8.2%.

Abstract

The aim of this research and development study was to develop a set of English teaching and learning materials for nursing students. The development of the materials was carried out in three phases: planning, developing, and evaluating. The research findings revealed the nursing students’ needs concerning media, language instruction, assignments, lecturer’s and student’s roles,  setting of the class, learning activities, use of English for the students, students’ intention to learn English, setting in which English was used, learning themes, input texts, students’ English proficiency, target culture knowledge, appropriateness of the English book used, English skills the students want to improve, and layout of the materials. The means of materials were 3.95 in terms of the language teaching and 3.63 in terms of the content. The means of three units were 3.43, 3.44, and 3.33. The means implied that the developed materials were appropriate to be used in the teaching and learning process as the materials met the nursing students’ needs and interest.
